Jusqu’au 5 mars 2023, le musée Maillol propose une belle et pertinente retrospective de la sculpture hyperréaliste, inscrivant ce style comme un courant à part entière de la scuplture. Les oeuvres présentées, saisissantes de vérité, dialoguent avec les sculptures de Maillol. Deux approches de la représentation du corps se confrontent pour notre plus grand plaisir. « Les détails font la perfection et la perfection n’est pas un détail » affirmait Leonardo da Vinci. L’authenticité physique des sculptures exposées fascine et dérange. En termes de réalisme, nous étions restés au christ voilé du sculpteur Sanmartino que l’on peut voir à la La Chapelle Sansevero de Naples. L’utilisation du silicone, de la fibre de verre, de vrais cheveux et de véritables vêtements, repousse l’illusion de contempler une personne en chair et en os. La peau est laiteuse. Le sang semble couler dans les veines. A notre insu, nous sommes transformés en voyeur. THE MESSENGER by Sam Jinks at @hellenicmuseum. Standing in this pitch black room alone with the sculpture is nothing short of breathtaking, and was a thrill to shoot. It’s so freakishly lifelike, and the reflections on the water add this whole other dimension. Like the Henson Room, it’s assignments like these that make the Phase One back on a technical camera second to none. The sharpness and depth to the images is just stunning. However, if you get a chance to view any of his artwork then you should make a point to go. He struggled financially throughout his life. You can see some of the work that he did on foil wrappers and any other scraps of paper or fabric that were available to him.
