There's a moment in scrubs 8x11 where janitor says "you're adorable. You got a daddy?" Any chance there's a gif out there with this?

Moving along faster than I thought with the faceplate for my Saturated Fat project.  Sometimes I just catch a good wind.  So used the above rev/neg printout (had to split it in 2 parts to print on 8x11 - don’t have legal size photo paper) and heat transfer it to the face (pic 1). The face was not as flat/level as you'd think (vs a cast pedal enclosure); bit of a concave to it.  I had to work that iron for a long time using the point/edge to make sure I got in all the nooks and crannies.  You know it's done because you can see the printer toner leach through the paper and you'll see the design poke through (pic 2). Then soak it and rub the paper off to expose the whole thing (pic 3). As you can see the ground down welds  did not take.  Not a big problem on the right; no detail there so will mask that off, but on the left, I was dumb enough to put the word "Out" right on one.  Lucky for me the round weld  is pretty much where the O should be so I used some enamel (model paint) to make an O out of it and define the left side of the U. Not bad (you'll see) but not perfect.  Nail polish also works for masking FYI (but takes longer to dry) - used it to mask the joint between the 2 masks ( that line to the left of the logo) and a few other spots.  Packing tape for the edges and side dribble (pic 4). Usually (with pedals) I put the whole thing in a plastic tub with a finger of acid in it (just like  the  packing tape mask - the acid has no effect on it; see also Breaking Bad for an object lesson in this), but since this so big, I used a pipette to place the acid on the areas that needed to be etched and to stir/agitate those puddles (also just tilting the unit this way and that - you have to keep the acid moving around so fresh stuff is making contact with the metal.  I was worried that my acid was old; figured I'd try using the leftovers from my last etch vs fresh and was worried it would not react, but apparently some water evaporated and I did not add as much back, so it was stronger than before; got a great bubbly reaction (pic 5).
Let that go for a while and wipe/rinse off.  You can see the marks of me stirring the acid with the pipette.  You can tell that the etch was good because the pattern is dark where the metal has reacted with the acid (pic 6).  Otherwise you could reapply and go again. But if you're happy with it, scrub everything off.  Warm water; acetone if it's stubborn.  You can leave the reacted metal in there, but some of it tends to wash out easily, so you have to remove the rest or it looks weird (pic 7). You could leave it at that (+ clearcoat) but if you want more contrast (no squinting to read the labels) you gotta put down some spray paint (I like flat black enamel - literally the cheapest stuff you can get - see last pic) Need to let that dry/cure for 24 hours, so had to leave it there for the night.  This evening I will sand that back to reveal the filled etched graphics.
