I’m seeing this a thousand years after you posted it because I open tumblr once every solstice at this point, but reading this praise came at such a perfect time. It’s nearly impossible for writers to really grasp the effect our works have on people, and it always floors me when I get a glimpse of it. I’m honoured that it had such an effect on you. It was very special to write and I’m so happy it came across to readers.

Yes! It’s weird to think this fic was written in 2012, before Cory died. Artie dying first always left such a big impression on me when I read it, because back then the idea of any of the characters (or actors) dying was so alien to me. And I always remembered the gutpunch of Kurt becoming an orphan. God, such a good and emotional fic. As I said, I put it somewhere in a snelhechter (I can’t find an English translation for it) together with another ND gen fic. I gotta find that snelhechter.

I'm the type to re-read a lot haha. I read you were in my dream (https://archiveofourown.org/works/50218774) somewhat recently and i might have read it entirely at least three times since, it's just so adorable.

I often reach for the whole Ace of Spades series (https://archiveofourown.org/series/3219651) and the series Light, Spark and Fire by green_feelings (https://archiveofourown.org/series/1694935) both ABO.

a twitter community for larries !!

okayyy recently i’ve seen some twitter communities for larries recommending fics to each other, but i haven’t seen one that’s just for larries in general to just hangout and talk and stuff, so yesterday i was thinking that it would be fun to start a twitter community for larries if anyone’s interested??

we can post + share snippets/fics/fests/artwork/etc, recommend fics, help people find fics they’re looking for, etc! i can do a pinned tweet that will have links where people can look to find betas, britpicks, artists, cheerleaders, lost & found fics, and other things like that. there will be community rules & mods to make sure the community is a safe space, inclusive, helpful -- all the important things, basically.

Sunday Snippet - Once the Dark Divides

It's been forever and a half, but finally I have actually managed to post a fic (Woo!) and am hoping to be back on track with my WIPs. Here's a taste of a Childhood Friends-to-Lovers + BDSM Exploration fic that I've been toying with for awhile. Rewind. A little further, back to the first shot of tequila Louis slams down on the bar with a purse of his lips. He hiss through his teeth. “Fuck, nothing better than that.” His smile is easy, satisfied, and hell he's smug too. Fuck yeah, he’s on top of the world ‘aint he? Friday with his mates at the best club in town. And it’s all of his mates, not just the dregs of the watercooler bunch from his shite job. Tonight he’s go Payn-o giggling in his ear about some bird he swears is sweet on him, Zayn lounging in the booth having brought the good shit for mellowing out later, and Niall’s tending bar slipping them a few extra shots that won’t be on the tab. Another empty shot glass knocks onto the bartop. A warm body presses into Louis's side, a chiselled chest on blatant display as it glistens in sweat. Oh right, and Haz. “Few things better,” a molten voice murmurs in his ear. Louis turns to find Harry raking a hand through his curls. The move cuts his features sharp without the soft frame of his hair, fist full of rings glinting in the club lights. He’s biting the rest of his lime off with a cheeky wink, chewing like a cocky fucker as he withdraws from Louis’s space and tosses the rind. He’s gone in a second, melting into the bodies around them. Right. Yeah, Harry’s here. Harry, the boy-next-door when Louis was growing up. Harry, the lad who definitely openly cried watching The Notebook when they were thirteen. Harry, Hazza, H. The one and only man capable of confusing the fuck out of Louis. Because one second he’s the lad who held Louis’s hand crossing the street all through primary, and the next he’s- “Damnit, Harry,” Liam groans into Louis’s ear, rubbing his forehead with a grimace as he signs Niall for another drink. Because yep, there’s Harry, tight trousers hiding absolutely nothing and a shirt that’s quite useless when unbuttoned the way it is, smirk firmly planted on his stupid face as he chats up the bird Liam’s had his eyes on. Harry leans in to whisper something in the girl's ear that causes her face to bloom like a flower to the sun, all rosy cheeks and starry eyes.

GENTLE

Once the Dark Divides The fingers on his chin are gentle. Louis still jumps at the firm contact guiding him to tilt up and see Harry’s face. A face he’s seen a thousand times before, at every age and every emotion. A face he thought he knew well. This Harry may as well be a stranger in his friend’s body, the strict line of his mouth and an ebony glint in his eye that warns of depth hidden beneath the green. Harry’s fingers hold Louis just tight enough to keep him stable. He could probably get out of the hold if he tried. He doesn’t try.

GLASS

The Sound the Sea Makes The glass shatters into diamonds at his feet. He doesn’t feel the shards of crystal slicing into his soles or the water slicking the cold floor when he falls to it. His entire life source is cut in half. The essence of his being is petrified in shock. His hand cradles the spot on his neck he’s never thought much about, a name on his lips he’s never stopped knowing. Louis.

FLOWER

The Top of Your Lungs This pack is one of the woods. They know how to weave through trees and climb branches, their fingers deft in the art of weaving flower stems and wielding axes.

GIGGLE

If I Could Fly Just as the heat starts to build again, Louis digs his fingers into Harry’s soft sides. The kiss breaks off as Harry yelps, squirming as he gasps with giggles in an attempt to get away. “Mercy, fucking mercy,” Harry pleads, only for the sneaky boy to flip Louis over and return the attack with mischievous fingers. “You little shit,” Louis giggles beneath him, bracketed by Harry’s knees and adjusting to the weight of him in his lap. If Louis had a kryptonite, it would be Harry’s laughter. So even when every muscle still aches from falling fifty feet, when it hurts to laugh and he has to duck under his fringe to hide a flinch as Harry’s fingers find hidden injuries, he doesn’t stop. If anything he encourages him to keep going just to make the bright moment last longer.

EAT

Black Silk “Louis?” Louis hums, too weak for words. He blinks slow. Harry’s face hasn’t changed by the time his eyes open again. That permanent frown with a deep line across his forehead. “You, uh. Your…” Harry trails off, struggling. Louis should be concerned, he knows he should be, and maybe he will once he eats. He eyes the table from where he lays and the distance looks comparable to the Sahara. He won’t make it. Maybe he just needs a nap. Yeah, sleep. He should sleep.

RAIN

If My Heart Were Mine The cold glass on his cheek brings him back to the window bench. The bottom of his stomach is a tar pit of heavy disgust. “You’ve no right to be jealous,” Harry says softly, thoughts churning like murky water, words filling his lips before he knows what they are. Louis tilts his head, leans in closer as the look on his face finally turns softer with boyish honesty. “Don’t I?” Maybe it’s the room they’re in, maybe it’s the reason they’re there at all. Maybe it’s the rain on the window pane. It’s impossible to know why the words come out the way they do when Harry says, “It would have been you if you were there.”

FLUSH & WISH

If My Heart Were Mine “Louis, you’re not listening-” “Fuck you! You’re the one not fucking answering the question.” “There’s more to it-” “Yes or no!” Liam meets Harry’s eyes over Louis’s shoulder. They are swimming with tears of guilt. It is the worst thing Harry has ever seen. “No,” Harry says because that’s the only answer there is. Louis turns to him, chest heaving from yelling, face flushed with it. Liam’s shoulders slump in defeat. “No,” Harry says again, voice cracking on the single syllable. Limb by limb his body is consumed with emotion. He shakes his head, blinking away hot tears and gripping the doorway for support. “What’s going on?” Harry looks into the corridor where the question came from. Niall stands under harsh fluorescents that remark on every crease of his serious face. Harry wishes desperately to rewind the past five minutes. He shouldn’t have come down here, he shouldn’t have got on this boat. He should have stayed in the deep still-water of the ocean where he didn’t have to endure the pain of existing. He can’t take it. He can’t even stand. Leaning heavily on the wall is not enough to keep the weight of every second he's been alive dragging him to the floor. He shrinks until he’s curled inward, chest heaving, on the cold tiles. “Tell them,” Louis snarls from somewhere above. “Tell them how you lied about everything we’re doing.”

“It’s for you, darling. Open it.” Ginny cups Harry’s cheek, caressing gently with her thumb, eyes shining with unshed tears as she nods, encouraging him with a tender smile. “Go ahead, dear.”

Ginny sits down cautiously, waiting with bated breath for Harry to flip the buckles open to reveal what’s inside. Harry takes a deep breath, hands trembling with anticipation. He has a pretty good idea of what's inside, and he’s not sure that he can keep his composure if he’s right. Slowly, he unlatches the left, then the right side, flick… flick… hinges creaking as he opens it with care. Layers of crimson velvet trimmed with snow-white fur lay neatly folded inside, all wrapped with a thick black leather belt and matching boots adorned with shiny gold buckles.

Harry feels his eyes flood with tears as he lets out a shaky breath. “Ginny, no. I can’t—You can’t give this away. Paul wouldn’t—”

It’s Ginny’s reassuring hand over Harry’s now. “I’m not giving it away, sweetheart. I’m passing it down. Paul asked me to. He wanted you to have it.”

“What?” Harry utters in disbelief. “Why me?”

“It’s your turn, now.”

“What? No! I couldn’t. I don’t even know how—”

“You have the heart for it, dear, and Christmas spirit in abundance. That’s all that really matters.”

“But it’s too soon. For you, I mean, like, we couldn’t—oh my god. Ginny? Do you mean? You want me to—”

She nods enthusiastically, tears falling from her eyes just as much as Harry. “I couldn’t say no to him in that state, lying in that hospital bed, of course, but buried the thought of it. Because, well, you know—I just couldn’t imagine even thinking of going through with it this year, once we lost him. But the more I think about it, the more I think the only way I could go through with it again is if I do it with you. I can’t even think about playing Mrs. Claus to some complete stranger. It just wouldn’t feel right. But you. You, my dear, would be perfect.”

“Are you serious?”

“Absolutely!” Ginny holds out her arms, inviting Harry into her warm embrace. “I couldn’t imagine anyone else filling my Paul’s boots better than you.”

Harry turns the boots over to find the number ten embossed on the bottom of the arch. “They’re my size,” he declares with a smile and a dry laugh, wiping his eyes, still in shock as he looks over the contents of the suitcase in awe. “I guess maybe I could fill Paul’s boots, couldn’t I?”

“You sure can, my dear. Go, try it on!” A glint of delight flashes in her eyes and, with her approval, Harry is up in a flash, eager to get into the legendary red suit. “Oh, here, look at this.” Ginny lifts the jacket and pulls back the inside lapel to reveal a monogram with the letters PA hand sewn inside a red heart border. “See, now he’ll always be with you. Never forgotten.”

Harry sighs at the tender remembrance, overwhelmed with emotion, and falls into Ginny’s embrace once again, whispering the choked words into her ear as he squeezes her tight, “Never forgotten.”
