Thoughts on Chapter 125
I swear these chapters will be the end of me-
Before I forget, Jeje’s face! After so long, we finally get to see it aaaaa :D
From the start, that played out a lot differently than what was expected. So Jeje was the one who killed Kiriko, to stop her from killing herself and so she could ascend to heaven.
I do find it interesting how Mikuni didn’t really react much despite literally watching his mother get killed, and that his first suggestion was to use Jeje’s power to convince Misono that he was the one who did it. Honestly, there could have been another excuse he could come up with and I don’t really see how that was better than telling Misono the truth as both were kinda hard to hear. Perhaps Mikuni’s always been more unhinged than we thought.
Ooh so the spring/key is their contract item. In some sense, the fact it was from a music box is really fitting for them, considering how they have a theme of puppets, dolls and in a way, clockwork. I guess that since Jeje saw Kiriko pick the box, it’s still a little reminiscent of her as well.
All three of them were in the Alicein’s basement the whole time?? Jeje we knew about, albeit differently, but Kuro and Tsubaki too? Finding out that Jeje was voluntarily sealed was interesting too, unless that fits into his desire to die as stated before due to everything that happened with his previous Eves and it was the closest to what he wanted.
Personally, I don’t know how to feel about the double barrier thing. On one hand, having that with both the Alicein and Tsukimitsu families makes sense as it’s extra security and when the heads of the families change, the barrier is broken down and reconstructed so it prevents the whole thing breaking apart if something happens to one of them. On the other hand, the changing barriers thing just doesn’t feel like a good idea to me. Then we found out Kiriko broke the barrier when the Tsukimitsu’s side was down, and accidentally freed Tsubaki when she let Jeje out.
Linked with the previous point, I’m now thinking that it probably really was Lily that put Kuro in Mahiru’s path.
To be fair, you can kinda feel sorry for Kiriko and understand her actions. Her husband cheated on her, and in wanting to make a contract with Envy, she unintentionally let Tsubaki out and then since she killed Misono’s mother, she was trying to atone but is still hearing about the things Tsubaki did. As this was only possible because of her, it really weighed heavily on her. At first, I questioned Jeje’s choice to kill Kiriko as if he really wanted to prevent it, there was other methods but then again, it could also be that it was his way of showing her mercy, knowing that she was going through that.
Jeje in a jar asdfghjkdjs-
I’m sorry, but there’s something weirdly ironic about Shirayuki giving Iori the role of head of family when he was eighteen to prevent him from doing something reckless, and then we know he’s gone and done something reckless anyway.
Mikuni having done his own research was something I had always expected from him. What I didn’t expect was him going to a fast food restaurant so soon after but him not liking it was predictable.
Jeje taking the bag, plopping it over his head and Mikuni’s reaction 😂 Mikuni laughing was cute, I think that’s the first time we’ve seen him genuinely smiling like that? It was adorable how Jeje stacked more bags on to make him laugh more too. And thus, the origins of the paper bags xD
Tsurugi and Touma! :D So this is when Touma took Mikuni into C3 :o I genuinely thought that he would be a bit more wary as seen in Touma’s subconscious before, but Mikuni agreed quite quickly, supposedly because it might have been in his best interest.
I guess everything further established that Jeje still binds himself to Kiriko by choice, through both her son and the music box key.
I do hope that we can see what happens next and that Misono manages to interact with Mikuni since he now knows most of the truth. As always, looking forward to the next chapters :)

Do you think Mikuni and Jeje have a real contract?Just wanted to know your opinion
Hello anon! That’s an interesting question 🤔Now it has been a while since my last read through of the manga so forgive me if I get anything wrong 😅
Let's see, personally I really like the theory that Mikuni and Jeje don't actually have a contract. It's one of my favorite theories since it makes a lot of sense within canon.
In all honesty, we don't really know all that much about envy pair themselves. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding what actually happened the night that Mikuni's mother (Kiriko) died. If I recall correctly only Jeje and Mikuni should know, everyone else either assumed Mikuni killed her (ex: Alicein Household) or Jeje killed her (ex: Mahiru). We also don't know why Mikuni and Tsurugi hate each other so much when they used to get along (?). Point is, in every flashback or scene that does involve them we never see them show any sign that they do have a contract. We usually just see Mikuni ordering Jeje around or something.
We know that when an Eve and a Servamp form a contract the chains appear, that the Eve gets that tattoo thing, and the eve gets a weapon. But when it comes to Mikuni, it's different. We've never seen that contract chains between these two. His lead doesn't turn into a tattoo, instead it turns into bracelets. Also, his "lead" is a little weird. I'm willing to bet it's actually magic. He needs Abel for it to work which is really odd considering the other eves don't need something like that. Plus, in chapter 122 we learned that apparently Abel belonged to Kiriko so if anything, if envy pair do have a contract than Abel could be the contract item. Either way it's really weird.
Another thing is the fact that Mikuni refuses to give Jeje blood. Throughout the story it's written off as a joke but knowing Servamp, there is definitely more to it. We saw it with Mahiru's "thinking simply" thing and Misono's "you bastard" thing. Maybe the reason Mikuni refuses to give his blood is to avoid forming a permanent contract? But if that's the case then maybe forming a contract is Jeje's "trump card" that is mentioned at the end of chapter 121? After all he has vial full of blood (?).
Overall, I think that they don't have a contract, but if they did I wouldn't be too shocked about it. Thank you for the ask anon! <3

Team Melancholy
Tumblr media
Looking at this page with Team Melancholy in the latest chapter, Otogiri is the only member we don't know much about.
Belkia, Sakuya and Shamrock were the ones that had the most development.
What is known about Higan is that he's an "artist" , he mentioned in his fight against Greed Pair that he killed people before becoming a vampire and humans were his "canvases". With the manga ending soon and given what's going on with Tsubaki, I would like to see if we might learn more about Higan and Otogiri, like how they died and were turned into vampires by Tsubaki.

I still don't understand how they plan to make the count form a contract with mikuni. As far as we know the only thing the count wants is to be one with kuro. Why should he care about what lily or mikuni want for the world? He hasn't cared about what people wanted before, half the servamps resented him for turning them into vampires. Just because tsubaki promised it? If the count is back tsubaki did what he was tasked to do and even without an eve the count would probably be strong enough to simply not comply to their wishes/agreements.
I kinda doubt the count is overly interested in being mikuni's tool.

[I am terribly impatient to see Lust pair plot progression, and since the recent chapter has not given me any I have decided to be delusional and make my own; enjoy]
“I have never been loved even once in my life!” Lily yells.
Misono can only stare, frozen. The man in front of him has no more gentle smiles and kind touches to offer, no more mocking grins and sharp words; this Lily is angry and bitter with something that might be grief. His face is contorted in a sharp-fanged grimace. His fingernails dig deeply into the hardened magic of their chairs.
Misono has never heard him yell before.
“The Alicein love you,” He hears himself say, and then “do they not?”
Lily laughs, brightly like the sound of shattering glass.
“The Alicein love me no more than they’d love a pretty trinket,” He spits, “I’m nothing but their heirloom to pass to their sons and daughters. Do you think Mikage took me to those operas because he loved me so much? He only ever loved being admired for having such a pretty plaything. Mikado – Mikado tossed me aside like jewellery he thought too ugly to adorn himself with, scraps for his wife to pick at like everything else he no longer wanted! Mikuni has never seen me as more than my name, and you –”
Misono flinches, though Lily hasn’t moved from his seat. The man’s chest is heaving. His eyes are dry but his voice broke on the last word like Misono’s sometimes does when he’s about to cry.
“You were the only one who ever came close to fooling me,” Lily whispers. “You were so kind to me. I didn’t even care when you yelled and threw books. I wanted you to love me so badly.”
For a split second it’s too much and Lily’s face breaks and Misono sees anguish and pain and despair and thinks – he has seen this face before; at night, in the garden, when he screamed at Lily to never come near him again.
“I’m not angry with you,” Lily says, “it’s my fault. You could never love me.”
It feels like being ripped from a daze. Suddenly, Misono is angry.
His Lily is hurting. What is he doing?
“So when all is said and done,” Lily continues, “you’d be foolish to think you could have changed anything. Do you understand, Misono? Nothing you can do could ever –”
“Shut up, Snow Lily!” Misono roars.
He feels his power ripple through the remnants of their pact. For a moment, Lily’s voice fails him. For a moment, he looks triumphant.
“You are so fucking desperate to be unlovable it’s pathetic!” Misono yells. “You have never, for even a single god damn moment, stopped to consider that you’re just hurt and angry and too fucking stupid to see others’ feelings for what they are! You refuse to deal with your pain because you are a fucking coward, who spent all this time planning and scheming and still needs me to hate him to actually go through with it!”
There’s a grim sense of satisfaction in wiping away that treacherous sense of triumph on Lily’s face, but he is not done yet. He draws another deep breath.
“You cannot force me to fit into this fucking fantasy of yours! You cannot make me hate you!”
He screams it with all his strength, even as he tastes blood in his throat.
“I love you! I have always loved you and I always will! And you can hate this family and you can mock me all you want, but you will never change this!”

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out already, but it looks like Mahiru took off the cuff that chains him to Kuro. It would be interesting if all it took to change Saint Germain’s paradigm was a gesture as “simple” as this (reaching out and accepting connection while rejecting assigned roles)

Me, after we had Kuro's human name: omg im gonna write a little oneshot where mahiru and adam lived in the same era as best friends!! 🥰💕😍❤️💞
Me, after 5k words: omg what if then adam dies and the town fills with rumors of a monster locked in the tower who drinks blood and kills people and mahiru grows up with them UNTIL gear and youtarou throw mahiru in there as a plan they had for years and mahiru meets Kuro.
Me, after 20k+ words that barely covered half of that and new ideas:

Thoughts about Jeje - Physical Composition and Ability
Just some more random rambles I had after reading this month’s chapter 😅
Mainly thinking about the fact that he was hollow when Ildio bisected him.
I did initially think that it could have been a fake Jeje there in a similar way to Mikuni’s ability (like a doll or illusion) or something to make it seem like they have the victory. Literal hollowness inside gives the implication of “puppet” and it does follow the Envy pair’s theme of creator and creation quite well. Also, when he was cut in half, he didn’t lose any jinn, which you would expect to happen since if following Tsubaki’s countdown, he’s the next one to. This is what I’m mainly leaning towards.
The other thing that came to mind was that it could possibly be the real Jeje and the hollowness is how Servamps are. In a similar way to how the video game Kingdom Hearts handled vessels, maybe something like a humanoid mannequin was used to hold the demon and the soul of the person they used to be. Due to that soul, it gives them their previous form back and they become almost “human” again. It may also be mixed with something that allows them to heal quickly too, like how Lily could attach his leg back on and Freya after getting shot (though it takes time). I wouldn’t be surprised if this only applies to Jeje though and he had always been a “walking mannequin” as he was the first Servamp where the process began to stabilise. May also contribute to how he’s full covered as well.
I like how he looked really snake-like as well when he used his ability. Maybe that could be a reason as to why he always covers his face, because Envy is sometimes considered to be a monster and that’s what he becomes when angered/using his full ability?
Another random thought I had was his ability compared to Mikuni’s. I love that the two’s tie together whilst the other Servamp/Eve pairs’s are quite different. Again, unlike Mikuni’s, Jeje’s seems indiscriminate. However, this may be linked with Kiriko as well. Based on how Jeje viewed her as “too pure to be vicious”, it links a little with how the woman in Mikuni’s “My Fair Lady” resembles her and she only acts as the scale/balance for which judgement is cast. She doesn’t directly harm another person, but can be dangerous when used in such a way, especially with another’s influence. Similar to how my mum thought that part of Kiriko was “absorbed/consumed” by Jeje and this is the part of him where she remained, if that makes sense. Mikuni is Kiriko’s son, but because he’s the opposite to her in being vicious, he’s the one leading to harm happening whether intentional or not.
Despite this, “My Fair Lady” only works on those who have killed, something that only affects those who deserve it. This leads me to think, in Mikuni’s case, he sees those to have committed a crime to be worthy of punishment whilst if you try to punish an innocent person, it doesn’t work because they did nothing wrong, the way it should be.
However in Jeje’s case, it doesn’t matter if you did something wrong or not, you get punished either way. This leads to idea of false accusations. Me and my sister originally thought that Jeje’s Subclass were falsely accused of crimes and Jeje bought these people back, but what if on the flip side, Jeje himself fell victim to this which caused him to lose his life as a human? Like he will accept the fall for someone under the condition he got revived after (his quote about him asking to be bought back to life). Because of this, he doesn’t see the distinction, especially in the case where others don’t care about the truth and just want someone to take the fall for it. A little bit of bitterness, in a way.
On the other hand, even if they were guilty, Jeje believes that everyone involved needs to be judged and not just the person who did something wrong. As such, both his and Mikuni’s view on fairness is both the same and different at the same time.

I do not think Germaine will be a redeemable character. Whatsoever. I do not think he will be sorry for anything he's done, I do not want him to. He is amoral with an unhealthy obsession that has caused the deaths of no doubt thousands.
I do, however, believe that (if Germaine were to get a body of his own) Mahiru's "I Can Fix This Awful Man" instincts will kick in despite all he knows about this man. Which in the grand scheme of things is not a lot.
The worst thing that could happen from that is that Germaine would observe. He'd watch Mahiru and notice that Mahiru and his Adam are so similar.
I wonder what Mahiru would do, what he would learn and think if he tried to better Germaine but instead found himself sat next to Kuro in that man's shelf of muses?
What would happen if Mahiru found himself at the end of Germaine's scalpel?
