It was not in fact their anniversary. Nya was giving him the stink eye for leaving his dirty laundry in her room, again.

For @sharksandjays challenge! (Apologies for a long post ahead, I dunno how best to present my thoughts ToT)

Idk if this has been done before but I like the idea of his powers being like, an inconvenience. When his thoughts are going a mile an hour, electricity just manifests around his body. If he manages to calm down, it goes away but if he doesn't well--- his outburst just overloads most electrical devices around him and boom, black out.

I like to think he's gotten better at not manifesting electricity accidentally. For the early days however, it would've been common. For its effects on others...

Jay would be wary of it electrocuting normal people. But his team isn't exactly normal.

Cole would be the most unaffected by it. Though there could be times he'd get caught off guard, his affinity to the earth gives him a sort of immunity. This would allow him to be the rock that a young, anxious Jay would need, and keep him grounded in reality.

Nya, as the elemental master of water, would make Jay scared of thinking hard in front of her. Her code of conduct wouldn't allow Jay to simmer in his thoughts alone though, so she'd bolt towards him the moment electricity starts manifesting. Jay admires her for that, even though he's pretty sure it would hurt her. (It's later on that he realizes, it doesn't. Pure water, which I believe Nya can conjure, can't actually conduct electricity. The more you know I guess.)

Lightning round for the others: Lloyd, being the embodiment of 'energy is not created/destroyed but transferred/transformed' wouldn't be hurt either. But I think it would bounce off of him and hurt someone else when he's not thinking ToT. When using his ice powers, Zane could be immune too (except with the whole nindroid thing). As for Kai, he's not immune per say but Jay's anxiety ridden electricity, just like how it starts a forest fire, just sparks a protective streak in Kai you know?

TLDR: Jay's electricity has some cons. But thankfully, his friends have powers too.

My personal headcanon with Jay and his powers for a really long time, after watching in the earliest season when he turned into a snake that, that it never truly been cured or left but has some what merged with himself and his lighting, and the more he uses his powers the more snake like he becomes, his Canines turning more into fangs, snake like pupils, body becoming inhumanely flexible, (just imagine someone twisting his arm but the man can't feel shit) and blue scales slowly appearing on his body. (of course they're gonna be blue, because i say so and cause it's merge with his lighting sooo—)

Not only does it affect his physical body and traits but also his weapons and fighting style. I used the golden weapon in the earlier seasons for this is because I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR A LOOOONG and I always had that vision with those weapons first, also another personal headcanon with the golden weapon and how it in my head had so much potential! So I had been thinking that the on the dragon's mouth would open and lighting would shoot out, can act as a tazer, or when Jay concentrates his lighting enough to have a sort of form he could make it have a sharp edge like a dagger or a long sword for stabby stabs, but my personal favorite is a whip with of course a snake at the tip, I was thinking of the snake looking harmless and with it's mouth closed at first to catch his enemies by surprise when suddenly the whip tries to bite them and the snake suddenly coming alive, that is if they even noticed the snake to begin with, with how I imagine Jay would be going wild with whipping his whip around, and just laughing maniacally.

When lightning strikes

Jay can choose where he wants a lightning to strike from the sky, he can even choose to have one hit him without needing to redirect it. He can use lightning to recharge his energy, make his voice have the force of thunder, move and travel by electricity until he reaches the sky. A single command and he can disappear into a blue mist. Nothing capable of stopping him.

Jay’s Powers- ‘Pain Inhibitors’

Submission for @sharksandjays’ s creative challenge .

⚠️ MILD BLOOD AND GORE WARNING ⚠️

My headcanon is that Jay has the ability to manipulate the electrical transmission of pain through his brain and direct it to another region of his brain. This means that even if his body is physically damaged he can supress feelings of pain and continue fighting until it is convenient to heal the damage. He started practicing the ability when he was imprisoned on Nadakhan’s ship (vengstone didn’t stop him from using these powers as it is an internal ability).  This ability grows stronger through the seasons but Jay uses it sparingly.

The process would theoretically look something like this:

Normal pain feedback loop:

Injury/damage site >  electrical signal stimulated > signal travels to spinal cord> signal travels to brain to process> brain initiates response

Interrupted pain feedback loop:  

Injury/damage site >  electrical signal stimulated > signal travels to spinal cord> Jay redirects it to another part of the brain > different sensation is processed> response other than pain is generated

This ability is hard to perform, as Jay tends to panic, especially in a battle and regulating the flow of electricity to block his pain receptors takes lots of concentration. Redirecting the electricity to a different pathway also causes side effects such as increased stress levels and mood swings. When he does manage to inhibit the pain of his injuries, he just stands there like  :) im good, while sporting a massive cut or a broken arm. This particular power gets on Zane’s nerves however, as he *insists* that it is dangerous to alter his brain and body functions stating that >: <  pain receptors exist for a reason, Jay.

Headcanon Time

When Jay is angry the color of his lightning changes from blue to yellow, and naturally his attacks are more powerful when this happens.

His left eye (which is still injured even after season 6) also lights up and turns yellow, kind of like how Cole's scar glows when he uses his powers. Also he's not completely blind in his left eye but his vision is very blurry.

⚡ CREATIVE CHALLENGE! ⚡

I've officially hit 300 followers!! Which means it's time for a creative challenge! Thank you to everyone who has supported me and continues to support me, I hope you all will have fun with this one!

The theme of the challenge is: Flexibility of Lightning.

Basically, we all know that Jay's element is the most versatile of all the elements. It can be used in so many different ways that we are often robbed of in the show. I want you to show me your favourite headcanon about Jay's power, something unique about it.

It can be its effects on him, its effects on others, special abilities he can have with it, or even special attacks/uses. Anything is possible with electricity :).

Rules and Information:

It does NOT have to be an art piece! This is a creative challenge because I will be opening it to all forms of media. Comics, art, fanfictions, and drabbles will all be accepted! If you can find another way of doing it, then I am happy to see that as well.

Each person can only submit TWO maximum pieces. They can be of any medium, any combination. The amount you do will not put you higher than anyone else though, its just if you want to.

The deadline is TBA: I want to see how people go with this before I set a firm time limit, but expect somewhere between the next month or two.

The piece must be about Jay and his powers, or his relationship to them. (this one is self explanatory.)

When you post your work, tag me and use the hashtag #shark300challenge. I will reblog it!

Here is an example done by yours truly: This one is based on my little writing about Jay being able to sense when a storm is coming. (Though the clouds are a little telling too my dear)

In terms of winners, first place will get a free full-piece commission of anything of their choice, and second and third place will get sketch commissions.

Also as far as angst goes are there any boundaries that are important to know, obviously not planning anything explicit and always properly warnings. But like gore and uh injuries with implications. What are you ok with?

No limits on the injuries and implications! Just put warnings if they get too bad for the rest of the audience but I have no problem with it.

As for the collab, I would be ok with it however if you win I would still only be doing one prize. That's all. Everything else is up to you :). Post seperately or on one account or whatever if most comfortable! Thank you for joining I hope you enjoy!

I didn't put that Jay create a rose of lightning and he give it to Nya (he uses something so the rose won't disapear) and she keeps that rose like the most important thing on the world

Just saw this and im in love!!!!! I love this hc so much. Let Jay make things with lightning cowards. Imagine a lightning spear. The potential

And the rose is so cute. Plus i hc that small electric manipulations cause jay to not even bat an eye (like turning off lights) so a small rose would be easy to keep up

Hi everyone! Welcome to the mess that is my blog. You can call me Shark! My hyperfixations change every few months but right now it's leaning towards DC and Young Justice/Batfam stuff! Ninjago is still up there too!
