you’re watching the maury show on your computer when katsuki marches into your room without a word and flops down next to you on your bed.

“ hello to you, too.” you snort. his words are muffled by your sheets but you’re about 90% sure he told you to shut up, you ignore it.

he lays face down on your bed for a while not saying anything and you know he’s had a long day and wants to be close to you without actually talking. you don’t mind, you’ll give him his space until he reaches out himself.

and he does after a little bit, turning his head around to face you as he looks from you to your computer screen, eyes focusing on the woman screaming that the man she cheated on her husband with was 100% not the father of her baby, mixed with the cheers of the audience.

he looks at you and raises a brow “ what’s happenin ?”

“ lady cheated on her husband with his brother.” you respond.

“ his brother ?” he repeats. his eyebrows furrow and you know he’s hooked. if there’s one thing katsuki loves but will never admit he does, it’s trash tv.

you nod, grinning somewhat evilly “his brother. now they’re trying to find out which one’s the father.”

he hums, scooting himself closer to you so he can see the screen too. he flips himself around so his neck isn’t craned at that awkward angle anymore and settles himself down right next to you. hook, line and sinker.

he wraps his arm around your shoulder and shoves his head in your neck, breathing you in. you both don’t say anything. “do you want me to play it from the beginning for you ?” he shakes his head in your neck. you reach your hand up to scratch at his scalp and you smile when he sighs. he holds you a little tighter, pressing feather light kisses into your neck.

katsuki’s never been good at expressing himself with any other emotion that isn’t anger. it makes him feel stupid and weak and soft. he’s had a long fucking day and he doesn’t wanna talk about it, simply wanting to indulge in you but he can’t tell you that, can’t find the words to, so he tries to find other ways to tell you and he hopes you understand and you do.

katsuki’s thankful for you because sometimes he wants to talk, wants to open up about what’s bothering him but sometimes he doesn’t. he doesn’t and you don’t pry when you know he doesn’t and he’s so thankful for you. he presses kisses on your skin and soft bites at your flesh to convey just how thankful he is, how grateful he is for having you. he hopes every warm press of his lips against your skin can convey how much he loves you loving him. and it does, because you turn your head and kiss the side of his head so sweetly and he knows you’re it for him.

he’ll tell you all of this one day, he promises. he’ll tell you all the thoughts swimming around in his head one day, but he hopes this’ll do for now. and unknowingly to him, it absolutely does.

he pulls his head out of your neck and kisses you hard on the cheek one, two, three times and you giggle. you feel him smile into your cheek when he kisses you a fourth time.

“fuck’re they screamin’ about ?” he says and you turn to look back at the screen. the woman is yelling at her husband’s brother vehemently denying the possibility of him being her baby’s father. you feel a little bad for laughing. “ she says he’s not the dad” you answer.

he clicks his tongue “ why the fuck is she on the show then.” he says, turning his attention back to your computer but his grip on you stays secure. you press yourself a little closer to him.

you’re still smiling lightly when you look back at your screen, simply shrugging. “ she said something about her having more sex with her husband than with him.” you answer and he snorts.

“ ten bucks neither one of them’s the father.”

I love how pathetic™ Evil Rick really is tbh. love that he's being controlled by his Morty. can you guess who my favorite Morty is?

#the only reason why Evil is above C-137 and Memory is because #Memory's design is something I don't really like in the style of the show #his fanart makes him look so much cooler but in the show he just looks.. unfinished?#idk it's weird to me. I love him outside of that though #and with C-137. I'M SICK OF HIM LMAO I AM SO SORRY #there are too many fucking episodes dedicated to this man. pushing everyone else aside just to have him yap about his dead wife #I love him so much but there's only so many times we can bring Diane up and not really develop her as a character but rather to boost Rick #and the show is Rick and MORTY yet all I see is Rick 😭😭 don't get me wrong I love this man #I just feel like we know more about Rick than the rest of the family #WHICH IS FINE IF THAT WAS WHAT THEY WERE GOING FOR #and if they wanted to go in that direction so be it! it's fine!#I just feel like he needs less screen time or at least balance episodes among the family #cause even the most recent Morty episode is about Rick. it was so frustrating watching it cause it's literally MORTY'S fear hole experience #yet we're watching Morty's head canons about his grandparents #I also hate the narrative they took with Diane. only ever having Rick talk of her or others bring her up #it just doesn't make her a character but rather an extension off of Rick. that's how I'm feeling rn with the family #they're all just there to prop up Rick or something. super annoying #but that's about it. i remember it used to be a bit of a fandom pet peeve of mine that some people would forget that the gung ho guns and eye of michael were two separate groups with some membership overlap but then stampede came along and made the eom into a project of conrad’s backed by knives. another example of how the reboot feels like bad fanfiction.

#the eom worked best as a predominantly shadowy unknown group most closely tied to wolfwood and LR’s stories #i LIKED that we didn’t know who ran it or what their broader goals were outside of what contact they had with knives/the ghg #extradiagetically nightow just didn’t need to explore the eom in detail. they served their narrative purpose.#but i also find stories that try too hard to ask you bonus questions with overexplained answers to be very lame #so while prestampede it was kinda annoying but ultimately excusable to see ghg/eom used interchangeably #the new show cemented it them as interlinked in a way that actually made the story structure much weaker in an attempt to get ahead of you #this is all very much a critique of mine from the perspective of a writer not just a viewer btw #bad writing isn’t always enough to kill something yk. but plot holes are harder to excuse when your themes and structure are lacking #the manga’s Foundations were just much stronger than the reboot’s if you will #you can turn your brain off with this show and just watch the pretty colors if you want. absolutely no shame in that. we need that stuff #i guess i just struggle to accept a no brainer show like this as being another core leg of the story in the way trimax/98 are bc of it #pretentious of me i know.#stampede critical #for my followers that filter it

So I put the power of friendship and impractical outfits into Metroid Dread. No suits, no shields: we die in a giant laser hand cannon fight like true warriors.

#raven beak #chozo #a lot of effort for a bit #i thought back to that one piece i did a few years ago where i put raven beak in bikini armor and i said #'wouldn't it be funny to see him actually fight in something like that?'#because as we all know exposed flesh in combat is very humorous when large guns that shoot beams are involved #and then my train of thought fell to 'wouldn't it be funny if Samus was covered more than Raven Beak is'#'to subvert the sexy outfits thing a little bit but also drive home the 'god-emperor of Chozo Victoria's Secret' look he has going for him'#So the original sketch was created July 21 2023. And I redid it on April 10 2024.#and built Raven Beak bulky like a pro wrestler to really drive home the drama/hamminess of the situation but also to make him look stronger #my outfit design continues to be lacking but my commitment to the bit remains unmatched #... it's also so much easier to draw silly bikini armor that makes no sense than it is to put characters in regular clothes. or armor.#if you want a 'lore justification' for the lack of armor let's just say Raven Beak doesn't need the suit to be powerful.#and Samus is about to demonstrate that he has sorely underestimated her. by a mile. or a kilometer.#anyways the differences in their outfits match their upbringing and general philosophy #Samus opts for the more practical leotard offering her mobility and lightweight motion #Raven Beak guns for the full regalia that shows off as much muscle as possible while not skipping out on symbols of rank #and he NEVER leaves home without a cape #the cape is a must if shoulder-mounted black hole generators aren't available.

retcons. they're a writing tool. they're not fundamentally a bad tool. though I greet them more often with an "ugh, retcon" than a "nice, retcon"-

and that's often because they're overwrites. sometimes carelessly so, the 'didn't pay enough attention to what came before'/'guess I changed it' route. And sometimes retcons are the 'that's not the story I want to tell now or I can do better than that' route.

Andor is doing the second type of retcon, and interestingly so, because there wasn't a whole lot there to retcon *and yet* they are managing to do that.

When Rogue One came out, Disney dropped a bunch of expanded universe material. The NEW expanded universe, because they'd already ditched the old one, to avoid conflicts; this new one could be consistent (ha, ha, ha).

In those 2016 detail books we got the facts on Cassian Andor's backstory: from the planet Fest (clearly carefully chosen for its old EU history), father killed during a protest against militarization on Imperial Academy planet Carida (another world with EU history), involved with a Separatist cell from age 6 on...

Anddd anyone who'd read those extended materials knew Andor the show was ditching that backstory within seconds of him dropping the name 'Kenari' in context that was immediately clear it was his home planet. I appreciated at least getting a nod to the backstory we had since 2016 with dropping that his 'cover story' planet was Fest. They definitely were aware and chose not to go that route. And that's OK! they have a story they want to tell, they're digging into some interesting themes and meanings and...

Well. Either way it's a retcon. A minor one that 97% of the audience will never notice or care about. And yes they're still keeping to the spirit of that key line in Rogue One-

"I've been in this fight since I was six years old"

- clearly the mining disaster on Kenari presumably happened when Cassian was six years old. So his childhood was ruined by the Empire then and he's been resisting them ever since, it's not that it renders it untrue it's just-

it's just that he's pulling a moral high ground with that line over Jyn whose life was also ruined by the Empire at eight years old and was raised as a child soldier by Saw Gerrera, a character whose very name is designed to evoke guerilla warfare...?

I mean a Cassian who's already been in prison and is scrapping by and sticking it to the Imperials all he can, drawing those character parallels between them even closer then are we, but the whole crux of that (excellently written & filmed I'm still not over it) argument hinges on Cassian's relationship with/committment to the Rebellion above all else. The show's retcon has just... shortened that relationship. By quite quite a bit.

And there is now some unintentional irony, from this retcon, if Jyn was actually (via Saw's cell) part of the Rebellion longer than Cassian.

...it's fine, it's fine, tbh watch them retcon Jyn's backstory soon enough, it's a very minor retcon and maybe future episodes will reveal Cassian has been doing more actual rebelling than it seems and... nonetheless. Ugh retcon.

thank you for writing in. at the top of this post i would like to clarify that pahrsi was made by my good friend rye beans, so i cannot at all take credit for her. ariane is my girl though. i would love to blend her. she sucks.

to answer your question, i think it is because they are both completely fucking insane. the dialogue in question is one i picked because i think it's wild out of context, but it stays equally insane in context? this exchange happens maybe two hours after they've met, after pahrsi has stitched up a particularly icky wound ariane has in the back of her leg (obtained from other yuri. thats a story for a different post though). they literally met at a casino and pahrsi talked ariane into taking her back to her place to stitch her up. as a complete stranger. because she thought it would be fun. i need to send her to the shredder.

the whole reason they find themselves drawn to each other in the first place is because they both have girlfriends that they have kind of rocky relationships with, and they remind each other of those girlfriends. it's kind of a weird rebound situation except if they never did anything explicitly romantic and instead just kind of danced around the fact that they're obviously attracted to each other for like two entire years. they make me fucking crazy.

oh and every exchange they have is equally insane. they always talk like this. im struggling to pick my favourite one to add at the end here because all of it is really really good. i think this one is a classic; this is barely a third of the conversation these two have about ariane's potential to kill pahrsi.

what the FUCK is wrong with them

#this is a really really basic overview of how they met and covers basically nothing about why they continue to make me insane #because this is like twenty years in the past and theres a lot going on in the present to make me crazy #but hey gotta start somewhere. idk its like i loooove to talk about these guys. i do. i would love to talk about them forever #but it is soooo much easier if i have like. Directed Questions its kind of hard to unravel their whole deal off the top of my head #all this to say this was fun . bats my eyes at my darling followers you should all ask more #you could even ask about my ocs that are pahrsi's sort-of-kids. theres a whole story there. though less insane than the yuri #arianwyn #pahrsi #13 orphans #placeholder ask tag #verysharpfish #other contenders for dialogue at the end here were secret blackjack and the holes innuendo #but nothing hits like tasteful artistry of a crime scene to me #sure hope the colour coding doesnt suck here but it means i dont have to restructure certain sentences to remove ambiguity so. lol #okay i think thats it thank you for showing interest in these freaks

i've finally reached the part in the semester where we're covering the second law of thermodynamics. matt bellamy we're in it together now

#i post #no but in all seriousness it's super cool and i shouldn't make it out to be super hard because i should have confidence in myself #i'm also finally getting to use energy equations in a fun way (that E = KE + PE shit you probably saw in the last few years of grade school #you don't really get much use out of them in the first two sections covering simple kinematics and then EM #beyond them being slightly more convenient ways of solving problems #but they're obviously essential to thermodynamics and now it's fun #i still don't test well however but the prof is the gay tumblr user to my luke skywalker. he sees my chanel boots. he sees me throw down--#on the practice problems we do in class #so i have a chance at an A in the class with a really really cool extra credit assignment #right after spring break i have to give a 5-10 minute presentation on thermodynamics WRT my major #the most obvious low-hanging fruit is the color of stars (and if i can't find anything else i will do that)#but i'm almost tempted to try and find a hw problem in the book and do a whole thing on that #that way i get to show off the fact that i do know how to do math i just have a really poor memory lol #or maybe i'll do something on the future of the universe at the largest timescales-- like how all star cores will eventually turn to iron #or how black holes gradually dissolve #idk #but yeah super cool shit

Had someone at one point ask about with making caves if I just modified ones I'd found or what, and while that's some of what I do, a lot of the time I just dig out shapes like this (the start of a new cave section)

Like this is how I make caves, just dig out a nice looking shape. I actually missed and the caves didn't line up, so I added that little bend between them, and you know what? It's better than a stable curve. There's no wrong way to make a cave, just go with the flow

The next step's gonna be to shape them, get something looking like this. Just all smooth stone. I've done this in both survival and creative, and the process is the same in both (I just wind up with a lot more smooth stone stairs in my storage when I'm done if I build in in survival, cause most of this gets ripped out)

Then in the end it ends up looking something like this once I've retextured it (that one pic is on moody lighting, I like to check how my stuff looks in moody both to check to really dark spots and cause I think it does look atmospheric)

So that really is the steps to making a cave from scratch. Dig out a tunnel in roughly the shape you like, keep rounding it, like those first pictures are not there yet, they're just the bare bones shape

Then you shape it with smooth stone for a uniform texture. I like using lots of stairs and slabs, but even for a full block style that's still a good idea, helps you avoid being distracted by a ton of different textures

Then you come in and tear bits out and replace it with stuff like andesite, but really whatever you think looks good. Then finishing touches like glowberries or grass or anything like that

#minecraft #I don't normally tag any of my minecraft stuff but... eh... someone I know asked me #and I basically just made this post to show them #but... why not share it in case anyone else finds it useful #whoever reads this; you absolutely can build a nice cave in minecraft; I believe in you on this #there's no wrong way to make a cave; just tweak it till it feels right #90% of my world is caves; found out when I started playing this world that I just love making caves #it comes super naturally to me; as opposed to interiors... or exteriors... or anything else; those all take a lot of work #but caves; just knock out a hole and get greebling (term for like the side of sci fi space ships and all the stuff they put to add texture)#if you see this; and you want to make a cave; I promise you that you can; I believe in you #happy to answer any questions on the off chance anyone has any; but just know you can make a very nice cave from scratch
