DesmondxHytham???
@fanworldbuildingfun and I had this idea where Desmond gets kicked into AC Valhalla’s timeline and he builds his own Brotherhood because he thought the Assassins didn’t exist by this time and it ends with his Brotherhood and Hytham’s bureau having some kind of turf war.
That could be our jumping point with Hytham being both annoyed and impressed by Desmond’s informants and recruits while Desmond is just under the misconception that Hytham might be some kind of proto-Assassin (which he is, the problem is Desmond doesn’t know about the whole Hidden Ones history since that was lost in time, hell, Amunet was only called a ‘proto-Assassin’ and isn’t even remembered as a founder by this point).
So, once Desmond is sure that his Assassins would be okay without him for a while and all of their bureaus are safe at the moment, he goes to Ravensthrope to check the competition.
What does he see?
An overworked lonely man who was nice to everyone and who looked at him with wary at first, only to show a friendly side once Desmond told him that Eivor sent him here (a lie) to help out.
Desmond starts helping out in Ravensthorpe, doing errands and hunting. Sometimes, he’d help bring deliveries from nearby settlements. Other times, he’s working as Randvi’s messenger for any settlement conflicts that arises.
In his free time, he checks up on Hytham.
At first, it was because of his Hidden Blade.
He had seen Eivor’s Hidden Blade and knew that she was wearing it wrong but he had assumed Eivor had gotten it from one of the Proto-Assassins or something.
But Hytham…
Hytham was the one who told him about the Hidden Ones.
About Alamut…
And, now that Desmond thought about it, it made sense that the Assassins didn’t just sprung up out of nowhere. They had to have come from somewhere.
A secret organization stationed mostly in Alamut would make sense, Desmond supposed.
Hell, he had been thinking of going to Alamut himself but that was mostly because there were memory seals in the Temple underneath that he could use to leave messages for Altaïr and maybe even the ‘next’ Desmond Miles.
But this…
This changes… well…
Not much, really.
Desmond has no plan to join the Hidden Ones. He has his own Brotherhood and they’re doing well on their own.
It sucked that they didn’t have Hidden Blades but being an Assassin was never about the Hidden Blade.
It was about the Creed.
And it seemed that the Hidden Ones also had the same Creed.
So…
Desmond stayed.
And he tells himself that he’s staying to learn more about the Hidden Ones.
Hytham stresses that he was not a mentor (“Yet.” Desmond adds, making Hytham chuckle and rub the back of his neck) so he cannot recruit Desmond but Desmond just waves it off, tells Hytham that he’s interested in the history and the traditions of the Hidden Ones.
And Hytham indulges him…
They have tea over it.
One time, Hytham showed him how to perform a leap of faith and it took all of Desmond’s willpower not to be a total showoff like Hytham was.
.
.
And then…
Eivor returned from her latest successful alliance and she sees Desmond in Ravensthorpe.
They talk and Desmond tries to tell her that he’s not here to sabotage Hytham’s bureau or whatever malicious plan Eivor believes he’s capable of.
Hell, the whole turf war between the Brotherhood and the Hidden Ones was started by a very gung-ho recruit and it’s not like Hytham had any other people in his corners other than Eivor and some informants.
It would be like pulling the pigtails of a girl peacefully making her sandcastle.
“I know we both have a list of people that should die and that’s not exactly peaceful, Eivor, I’m making a metaphor!”
But Desmond is good at making people do what he wants so Eivor just sighs and agrees not to say anything… for now.
If she even hears a hint of Desmond planning something nefarious against Hytham, she’d kick him out of Ravensthorpe herself.
And Desmond agrees.
.
.
So Eivor began to observe Desmond.
She tells Randvi that she’s doing it because she wants to make sure she did the right thing sending Desmond back to their home without her (and she wants to smack Desmond on the back of the head for making everyone believed she had invited him).
That’s when she noticed it.
What everyone in Ravensthorpe had noticed before.
Desmond and Hytham…
… were definitely acting more like a couple in the middle of courting one another than actual friends.
And that’s when Randvi told her that…
All of Ravensthorpe agreed not to say anything to either of them because watching them be oblivious to one another was more fun.
And Eivor…
… can’t help but agree to that.

Okay so I’ve found a few improvements in Valhalla compared to Odyssey:
- HAYSTACKS!! WE CAN LIVE IN HAYSTACKS (not really but yk)
- is it just me or are the horse mechanics better in Valhalla? Like it feels like the horse is actually moving across the ground instead of like gliding across — the horse anatomy looks better when running across different ground textures, yk?
- The assassination animations are SO nice! Like, I feel like it matches Eivor’s style, and it’s smooth and stealthy, and THE HIDDEN BLADE IS BACK BABEYY!! It feels SO good to stab people properly tbh
- so M!Eivor has a lot more emotion in his tone than people led me to believe. I’m glad XD
- F!Eivor in that first cutscene had me pause mid-snack I swear lmfao
- Sigurd? 10/10
- Basim? 10/10
-Both Eivors? 10/10
- Kornburg gives me Kattegat vibes, yk?
These are all my observations for now lmao — I really like it so far 😂

basim, hytham, arno <3
Wow, so yeah, look at all this text...phew. Thank you for asking me 😍 and I’m sorry it took so long. I had to write about 3 loveable characters :3 😵
BASIM First impression: I remember seeing him in a screenshot taken from one of the trailers, long before he was introduced by Sigurd along with Hytham. I was intrigued and I thought and hoped that he was Altair's ancestor because of the Levantine aspect of his robes, and slowly, I was falling for him out of nowhere. Not to mention that once I heard his voice I was like BOOM: STRAIGHT TO HORNY JAIL. I knew he was the man!
Impression now: The impact he had on me throughout the whole game. The background story, the will for revenge taken to the depths of his own sanity just so he could accomplish it. It’s something I really liked given that the idea of Revenge is frequently added into my own writings. So I saw in him not just a handsome man, but some sort of inspiration for future characters. Now the real thing is...he’s good looking, has a sexy voice and oh man, the scenarios building up in my head don’t help me in living a normal life lol.
Favorite moment: Me watching the Campfire scene thinking he was really talking about a real son, having no bloody clue who he really is and I started making scenarios in my head that he might have had a wife waiting for him back home or that she might have died. Only after playing the game I realised what the discussion was all about, still the pain in his voice, the confused look on Eivor’s face...and the tension? OMG not to mention the cinematography, the angles and cuts to expression.
Idea for a story:  A story that involves an OC of mine, who also seeks revenge and they fall in love XD I’ve been working on it for months and I’m still not even through with it yet.
Unpopular opinion: That Basim is not the villain. He’s in the right to seek revenge although he’s fighting the wrong person. I mean imagine both Basim and Eivor being stuck to the three of life only to have Loki and Odin fight one another and only then could they finally live in peace.
Favorite relationship: I mean, come on Basim and his staff XD...I’m jesting. I really liked the calm relationship between him and Hytham. I mean he was Loki all along and yet he still cared for the boy. Maybe he saw a son in him or perhaps something different and we might never know.
Favorite headcanon:  There are so many, I don’t know which one to pick. Maybe an AU where Basim lives and he goes back home, retiring and living a peaceful life, differently from what he expected and perhaps Eivor joins him too and Hytham becomes a highly skilled mentor 💕
HYTHAM
First impression:  Haha I remember how uninterested I was in Hytham after seeing him in the trailer and then in some demo gameplays, whilst I was obsessing over Basim and not finding a video that had him included. And I was basically annoyed, but he grew on me because he was an assassin and I found him kinda cute to be honest XD
Impression now: Now, I simply love Hytham. He is that type of man who would do anything to protect you, who is shy at first and sweet, but daaamn, later on he’d be a courageous little beast.  Anyway, the character development he could have had instead of just being left in a house, saying barely nothing had me angered to the core. The things he could have said and done, the quests, hell he might have wanted to travel with Eivor and raid some monasteries, but no, he was a talking statue. And he had so much potential; his background story and the things he could have done after the game was finished. He could have even said in the game at some point after Basim “left” that he was willing to depart for a while, to receive his rank and probably ask Eivor to go with him. Ahh the possibilities.
Favorite moment: Definitely the way he jumped off to take Eivor away from Odin’s blasts and into the safe zone. Simply being there to convince Eivor to come back to them and get rid of Odin’s clutch. The song playing in the background and him taking Eivor had me in tears all night and the next day just thinking at that scene.
Idea for a story: There are multiple stories, but a sweet one would be for Eivor to aid him after he recklessly tried to assassinate Kjotve. Eivor would take him from the pit and away from danger and look after him once the battle was finished. That would be a sweet story with a happy ending.
Unpopular opinion: He’s not really spoken off and I didn’t find any controversies about Hytham, maybe that he’s the shy type at first, but can totally slice your throat in the next second or, you know, breaking the bed. That’s what I think about him and I totally love him for that. Never underestimate the quiet, sweet ones MWAHAHAHAHA...I have issues!!
Favorite relationship: We don’t have much choice in choosing a relationship with him, it’s either Basim or Eivor, maybe Randvi too, but I like the friendship Hytham and Eivor have built. From mistrust, to having Hytham become the truest and most loyal companion Eivor could have met. They both went through the same betrayal coming from Basim and were left emotionally wounded.
Favorite headcanon: I like the idea on how the relationship between Hytham and Eivor can develop, especially after Hytham will get a promotion and get a higher rank in the brotherhood. The possibilities of both of them traveling together to his home and back to Norway because they miss their birth place is such a sweet thought to me.
ARNO
First impression: Heh, here we go. I started playing Unity recently and I can say I was patient enough to stay away from spoilers for a long time, not even listening to his voice. So when I heard him I was like “Damn boi, he’s nice!” I knew he was a very strong character...and hot. I was like “Yeah he’s hot, but have you seen the Axeman!?” And ever since Axeman slithered into my head after all that cinematic trailer, I simply forgot about Arno and I allowed the fandom to go crazy about him XD
Impression now: He’s sassy, he’s in love, protective and vengeful. I like the way he was written, although I have the feeling that he’s a bit underrated from what I’ve seen around the fandom. He’s such a great character and I haven’t even seen everything yet as I’m only halfway through with the game. Yet I still hoped Axeman will come out of nowhere to aid me in battle lol
Favorite moment: So far, I’d pick the hot-air balloon moment. It was just so sweet and I knew about it from before I could play the quest myself, but seeing him and Elise getting together, finally after all the struggles it was just too cute. I was shouting around the house to have Arno kiss her already XD
Idea for a story: An Elise and Arno happy ending where they get to become assassin mentors or they just leave Paris to live on the countryside, happily ever after with a little family of their own and no worries whatsoever *sniffing*
Unpopular opinion: Arno is a great assassin and not just handsome. He did join the creed to get revenge, but he still got the job done; uncovered secrets and killed those that betrayed the crown and not just Monsieur de la Serre. Just because he has “feelings” doesn’t mean he isn’t a strong assassin lol. Sometimes the fandom cannot be pleased in any way.
Favorite relationship: Definitely Arno & Elise! I mean they are a great duo, they love each other and both deserved better. It started off sweet when they were children and the fact that I can call them childhood sweethearts melts my heart. They had ups and downs but they came back to one another, attracted by something more than just love: memories, purpose and a beautiful future together :(
Favorite headcanon: That Arno will get to have a family with Elise, little children roaming their home and no worries to ever darken their spirits.
