I've beaten SimAnt probably hundreds of times since I got it in 1996-ish, but it's still fun to do once in a while.

We need more love for old kinda shitty DOS games, the sheer charm they hold is amazing. A great example is Simant, it’s this simple ant colony simulator. Where your goal is to defeat the other ant colony and take over the backyard. I have not found a single modern game that’s even on its level when it comes to ant games in general. Best part of these DOS games? Yeah you can play them for completely free inside your web browser, you heard me right you can play these fully fleshed out games in your browser so you don’t have to worry about getting viruses whatsoever, and if you couldn’t tell I’m a tiny bit obsessed with these games.
*Also google 3D monster maze, it’s one of the first horror games ever recorded, it’s also fucking scary to this day*

Oh and here's a non-funny. When Vickie's dog Connery (originally Abby's -- I think pet lifespans are a bit too long by default) was at the end of his lifespan, I decided I couldn't bear to give up his genes. So I pollinated a female dog in an inactive household.
This cutie is the result.

I need to find as much info as I can about simAntics. Apparently it works somewhat like assembly... Why would the devs do that to themselves💀

So if you remember, WAAAY back, I posted a video when we found out that The Sims actually started out as a addon for Simcity 2000. We got a couple of seconds of video.
Here's some more images, from TCRF, showing off sims and buildings. My guess is that this is after the 1994-5 docs that we got? So this may have been 1994-1996 at some point.
By 1996 at some point they'd moved on to more fully rendered Sims so I'd guess that this is early '96 at the latest?
Funny thing is, this is the earliest development for the SimAntics engine which means that this is ALSO the earliest development point for The Sims 2, since that was just an extension of the TS1 engine engine.
Who knows, maybe there is something from even THIS far back that made its way up to TS2? After all there are pictures of one of the Steering Committee build sims and some UI elements from 1998 left in TS2's files.
