People on FB have a point though. It all sucks. And "stop watching" is way too easy to say to people who have been watching this show for decades and got attached to it. Seeing the state Emmerdale's in right now is sad.
And the fact that on Twitter, FB, IG, DS is all the same it's pretty telling. When you have basically the whole audience saying that things aren't working, characters aren't working, stories aren't working maybe they should start asking themselves a few questions.
Old characters are stale and saddled with the same plots over and over again, the newbies go from barely decent to terrible, pace is all over the place, there's no depth and no heart.
trust me, i know how hard it is to just stop watching - I said I would after Ryan abandoned us (and again when the news came of kayak boy) yet here I am.
and yeah some of the stories and characters are terrible (paullivvinnymandy and the Harriet mess) and if I had my way certain things would look very different (Priya and Debbie would have had a socially distant hook up already, Harriet would be on a trip around the world, Paul would have taken a long walk off a short cliff, Mandy would be with Paddy and Chas with Al, Robert and Seb would be home with Aaron - where they belong- and Rob would be besties with Mack) but I still enjoy most of the show at the moment.
as for the newbies - I ADORE Mack, I love Charles and Ethan, I’m in love with Meena - and the lack of kayak boy is just hilarious at this point.
Amy and Matty are cute, I love coira, Charity and Mack were fun, Meena and David have potential, Luke wanting the ground to swallow him whole whenever Ethan appears is hilarious, Mack flirting with Aaron was fun, Kim’s vendetta against Cain with Mack as her minion is amusing (even if it doesn’t make much sense) and now Mack and Moira teaming up to take Kim down. Jai and Laurel broke my heart but the story was good (despite the twitter outrage) but I’m dreading what’s coming up for Laurel. I’m kind of interested to see where the Gabby mess is going to go, and I’m looking forward to Faith returning.
And it helps that Dan hasn’t been front and centre for a while, and Michelle and Laura are both still on maternity leave so no Vanessa (and vanity) and Kerry.
But Facebook hates EVERYTHING. Check the comments on any random post - I dare you to find a positive one. Everything sucks, the actors are awful, the stories are unrealistic (why you looking at soaps for realism??), add a dash of misogyny, racism, transphobia, and homophobia - and there’s your fb comment.
If you hate something THAT MUCH... well... the only advice I can give you is change the channel and watch something else.
And also - social media and message boards don’t mean shit. People love to complain on the internet. Emmerdale still gets between 5 and 6 million viewers a night - Eastenders, that everyone considers the better soap because ballum, get between 4 and 5 million. Corrie does a bit better with 6-7 million. Are all those people hate watching?

Journal time:
More hard work: got gas with dad, had to deal with a huge and sudden wasp nest under a gas cap, garbage, dog feeding, the usual.
I reckon today I had a bit of a relapse with my feelings over the mom incident back in may. I can't say there's ever a day that goes by where I don't think about it at least once, but I was at least at a point where I didn't bring it up. Last night I had a nightmare about it all again and... yeah. So many posts today just kept bringing it up too. I still have a lot of bottled in aggression about it all. I even find myself checking my blocked messages and calls from her, but there's never any there. It almost upsets me, but what can i do? I made my offers to her and she refused em. All that's left to do is distract myself from the thoughts.
So I got a bit of recording in SAO FB done. I'm a bit disappointed that the next full DLC isnt out yet, but there's some neat costumes to work towards I guess. That and I'm almost done leveling all of the affections for story related characters to max. That means that soon I'll be able to A. Resume normal gameplay, B. Give more side story stuff, C. Make preparations for editing the weird shit into the inevitable fanservice episode so it doesn't tear its ugly head in the rest of the playthrough, and D. Get all three endings. Then I can put the game down until Betrayal of Comrades and add more to it with Ten.
I got a bit bored and paranoid that I maybe didn't meet the 10 card swipes required to avoid my banking fee, so I went to town for a bit to kinda splurge. I was actually able to get Dairy Queen for once without it being crowded! Btw, I don't go for the ice cream. I go for the Flamethrower burger. It's the burger that made me appreciate vegetables on my burgers! And it's good and SPICY!
While there, a family of three sat near me and when my food arrived, the dad smells it in the air and asks what I ordered. I tell him politely.
"Smells good and spicy! I'll give you $2 for a bit!"
So I tear off a small bit and let him have some and I get the money. Bites into it and immediately spits it out and drinks his coke almost angrily
"THAT AINT SPICY THATS ACID SON"
The wife just mouths "I'm so sorry" and his little boy is just losing it. When we're all leaving the boy said I was cool and gave five, and his dad is just "Ju-Just come on, son!"
I dethroned a king in the Dairy Queen tonight. I don't know what he was sovereign of, but I did it.
After that I went to walmart to look around. I saw an old friend i knew in elementary but uhhh i nervously had to go. I wasn't prepared for conversation and I looked like shit so I quickly ended the convo. I did explore a bit and found that they're selling good transformers again, lol. Not nearly as good as the Armada/Energon days but eh, better that the whole press this button to transform thing they were trying to advertise. I also found a 77 cent 2 liter coke (later revealed to be 66 cents) and found Valkyria Chronicles for PS4 for 10 bucks in the clearance aisle. It's got good reviews so I bought it and I'm doing an an LP now.
So it's basically Historical Fiction AU so to speak. Kinda combine the aesthetics from FMA and something like Howl's moving castle and throw in a notch down from the war terrors of children of the whales with more realism, and you get the setting. Basically a tiny neutral european not European nation has to defend against a nation after their shot. Gameplay is a tactical shooter in which you select characters on a map and take direct control with a sort of metered hybrid turn based shooter. It's a lot less complicated than it sounds.
My favorite character is NOT either of the main or side characters but the bland Town Watchman they assign as your third party member for jo other reason than he's just there, he's great at shooting and blocking bullets with his face, and he's just awesome. I hope I can keep him.
Positives:
Life: good food, drink, and a game for around $18 all together. Not bad.
General: games are a great escape from reality.

“Stalin Smiles”
(I just found this post from my FB archives,...comments included.)
Above one of Stalin’s greatest hits...in silver. That, and a runner up from post Colonial Africa which follows in his terrifying footsteps.
Sorry to rain on every-bodies parade here but..... This is "Socialist Realist" art at it creepiest. I'm not surprised the bosses of that country went for it. Please stand outside of the ethnic pride angle, and just look at the thing. From an art standpoint a cold loveless grim vision. It's a narrow stiff soulless ideal which is why Stalin loved this sort of thing so much, and forced his artists to make it or else. This stuff is why almost everyone hates socialism...as opposed to Democratic Socialism which thank gawd is very very different. (Google "Socialist Realism" art, you'll get an eyeful.)
 Ian Forrest
Sidney, you have me looking at it again. Art boy, what is art? And through whose aesthetic should you view it. Does have that Stalinesque grandeur to it I will admit.
Sidney Smith
Stalin, and "grandeur" are two word that seem at odds. Still yes the damned thing scares the pants off me. As artist we both know the need for freedom of expression. This sort of stuff is diametrically opposed to that. Also given the to say the least "less than peachy" attitudes of most African governments to personal freedom. For example about 20 years ago Kenya hung several poets for writing work the bosses didn't like...they really haven't got all that better there since. Well given all this ones heart is broken. I think Africa needs at least another century to get it's house in order after five centuries of slavery, and exploitation, plus another near 100 years of post colonial chaos.
Sidney Smith Further...just to get in more trouble. I always thought that this sort of thing is what the American Black Power Movement had in mind. Being old enough to have been involved in that era I saw things from the inside. This is why I left, and became a hippie instead.
Verene Shepherd
I visited it. It took a mighty effort on my part to climb the over 100 steps to get to the top to view it!!. Lots of controversy around it at the time I was in Senegal.
 Sidney Smith
That's another thing...those steps. It's 'meant' to have religious or spiritual overtones. You expend much effort to get to the shrine. Thereby validating it. The Roman Church figured that out about 1000 years ago, and yes Stalin copied that too. Heck you even have to haul yourself up a zillion steps to get to Lincoln at his monument. The church knew what it was doing, and so have all the powers that followed after them.
Terrence White
Well--I sure don't mean to step on anybody's toes here (and pls try to forgive me if I do), but to me, and although it is indeed awe-inspiring, I see mainly patriarchal paternalism--the hero man, holding up his offspring to the future (thereby proving his virility), with his faithful, subservient woman, in her NATURALLY second-fiddle, supportive role, by his side. Yes--inasmuch as this art truly does reflect predominant, majority attitudes prevalent in Africa--it truly CAN be called representative "African" art.
Sidney Smith
Okay African deluded Socialist Realist Hell. These characters over there Hang Poets Queers Liberals, and assorted trouble makers, and this is their monument to all that. Sorry I'm not down with the program. Like I said as a kid I was inside some of that Black Power noise, and this jazz is what I found. They really wanted to build an ant hill much like this. So I split, and became as I said a Hippie instead. It turned out they were 'full' of shit too. So I'm now just a Liberal Democrat Anarchist Queer Artist Lay-about. ...an as yet small, but growing movement.

An open letter to Hamilton (etc) fan artists, Re:whitewashing
Hello. Time for another ill-constructed rant on probably already well-tread ground. Specifically whitewashing in fan art (even more specifically Hamilton art though this could be applied to any fandom) and when it is ok. lol jk it’s never ok. PLEASE NOTE: I am an (amateur) artist. I am not ragging on artists because I “don’t understand how hard making art is,” “how hard artists work,” or what have you. These are legitimate problems of representation in fanart (that I have witnessed firsthand) and this is my earnest attempt to elucidate these issues. Feel free to interact with this post as you see fit. I am always free for debate if you disagree, would like clarification, or have anything to add.
+Look out for those embedded hyperlinks for more content
Preface: I am a member of far too many fb Hamilton groups. Sometimes people post their art, apparently forgetting that when you post things online you open yourself to critique. Hilarity ensues.
I often see Hamilton characters (generally portrayed as original Broadway cast members - Lin-Manuel Miranda, Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos, etc.) who have been horrifically whitewashed - complete with lightened skin, bizarrely red or light brown hair, lightened eyes, and so forth. The most common defenses for this misstep, from both artists and fans, are personal style and apparent inability to approximate accurate skin tone (“I tried but skin color is hard”). Here’s why both of those excuses are utter bullshit.
1. Personal Style:
A lot of things in life are open to interpretation and all art is inherently interpretive. But the racial and cultural identity of a real life person is not one of these interpretive things. [PAUSE: before anyone says that this is precisely what Hamilton is doing with its casting, don’t.] First of all, I get it, personal style is important to art. Some people trend toward realism while others prefer more abbreviated, abstracted, and/or cartoony styles and part of that is selecting stylized color palettes, interpreting color in new and inventive ways, and playing with light, value, line, form, etc. This is NOT what I am talking about. It is entirely possible to honor a person’s background using relative or approximated shading/tone/coloration and to create beautiful art in the process [example: Chris Vision’s color series]. This little rant is specifically directed at people who "attempt" to depict Hamilton (etc) actors/characters using realistic/semi-realistic color palettes (as in, how they appear irl, accounting for abstraction, drawing style, etc) but fall short when it comes to depicting the actors, particularly in regards to racial background. You can find excellent examples of what I mean at Calling Out Whitewashed Hamilton Art and I’m positive you can find far too many examples in this and many other fandoms simply by scrolling through the tags on Tumblr and Instagram.  So without further ado, lightening a person/character’s skin in fanart is racist. There’s really no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Foremost, the practice of editing a person of color to appear more European (skin, hair, eyes, even facial features) intentionally erases the cultural, racial, and ethnic background of the person in question. This is incredibly disrespectful to the actors who portray these characters and works to undermine what Hamilton as a whole is trying to build. If Hamilton is trying to reclaim American history for People of Color, stripping the racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds from the actors represents a rejection of conceit and, perhaps, even a form of appropriation. It is as though “fans” are saying that they want the art that is made by and for POC while simultaneously rejecting the distinctly racialized aspects of that art. When artists depict Lin!Hamilton as white, they are rejecting the Nuyorican background which Lin brings to the character in both writing and performance and projecting faux whiteness upon the character. In doing so, whether consciously or not, they are rejecting the actor’s race as well. Lin is beloved because of the art that he makes which allows many fans to look past his racial and cultural identity rather than accept it as an intrinsic aspect of both the man and his art.  Moreover, the ubiquity of this whitewashed art also reveals a lot about what “fans” find visually appealing and acceptable - e.g., the Eurocentric standard of beauty. Whitewashing in art represents not only a rejection of POC’s culture but, obviously, their physical attributes as well. Dark skin is lightened and or whitened, hair is often straightened and/or lightened to a light brown or red hue (with the exception of Laurens, whose features, hair in particular, are often feminized as a form a queer fetishization but that is a rant for another day), and features are changed to appear more European. Often, depictions of characters are changed so much it is nearly impossible to tell that the art is based on any particular actor. In addition to being, again, extremely disrespectful to the actors, this further perpetuates the extremely harmful notion that beauty only exists in European features and sends a direct message to POC fans that their appearance is neither beautiful not accepted by the fanbase of a piece of media that was made by other POC specifically to appeal to them. This seems especially true of dark skinned black individuals who are often completely stripped of the melanin in fan art, further driving home notions of ingrained cultural colorism and anti-blackness. With Hamilton in particular, it is fine to “change” a character’s race if and only if you are depicting a character as a different actor. For instance, while Lin!Hamilton is Latino, Michael!Hamilton is a black man and depicting Hamilton as such, while uncommon among fan communities, is better than fine [*the lack of art of dark skinned actors is another point of contention. Not only are dark skinned actors frequently whitewashed, many are ignored altogether]. Depicting Michael!Hamilton as light skinned or white, however, is obviously not fine.  Having established that lightening a character’s skin or depicting them with more European features is inherently racist, the claim that whitewashing is a stylistic choice is invalid. If you make the “stylistic choice” to depict a POC as white, you are racist. End of story.  And if you want to do better but find yourself wanting to draw Lin!Hamilton as white, remember that this guy existed and just draw him instead. It’s not that hard.  2. Technical Difficulties:
One of the most unfortunately common excuses for whitewashing in fanart seems to be that, for some reason or another, artists have difficulty accurately approximating actors’ skin color so they presumedly just make something up, This results in Lin!Hamilton and Phillipa!Eliza looking a bit like Snow White, Oak!Mulligan looking a little tan, and so forth. As an artist, I understand that approximating realistic skintones can be rather hard, especially with traditional mediums, but it is glaringly obvious when artists don’t put in any effort.  With traditional mediums such as paint, markers, or color pencils, artists can blend to create the colors which accurately (or as accurately as possible given the limitations of certain mediums like watercolors) approximate actors’ skin tones. If the colors dry lighter than intended, the artist generally layer and blend more to achieve a better approximation. If they then scan their image, they can use a photo editor to fix or correct any mistakes. It might not be the easiest to find good matches (speaking from experience, there aren’t a ton of good warm brown toned markers and thus a lot of blending is sometimes required) but, as previously stated, it’s generally easy to tell when someone at least tried to get close to a correct skin tone. With digital art, it’s even easier. Fact: Nearly all art programs have a nifty eyedropper tool which can be used to pull color swatches directly from a reference picture. Even MSpaint has this function. By pulling multiple swatches from a variety of reference images (to account for different lighting conditions), an artist can build a relatively accurate gradiented palette for skin tone. It’s really that simple! And if an artist notices that the color isn’t quite right, it’s nothing a few tweaks to hue and saturation can’t fix!  If my tone seemed a bit sarcastic/passive aggressive in that last paragraph, it’s because it totally was. I see this excuse so much more often than I see any other excuse for whitewashed fan art and it is incredibly frustrating but also, as an (extraordinarily mediocre) artist myself, it rings incredibly inaccurate, especially for digital art. I completely understand that it sometimes takes a lot of time to get used to a medium but when an artist’s color palette is literally limitless, there is absolutely no reason (aside from personal, possibly subconscious/implicit but no less real, biases) for an actor/character to be depicted as white/light skinned when they are not. As previously discussed, that is disrespectful and harmful, and really only serves to make the artist (and those that support work) look like a jackass.  And look, if you find yourself making whitewashed art, it’s not as though it is impossible to change. When someone criticizes your whitewash-y art, don’t get defensive. Don’t claim that it’s your style or that you don’t know how to color POC. It looks and sounds really fucking ridiculous. Instead, evaluate your art and place it into a cultural context. Take it as an opportunity to improve. And maybe also take the opportunity to learn a little about yourself and your biases.  This wasn’t meant to be a call out post and I’d like to end this on a positive note so here are a few wonderful Hamilton fan artists who are worth a look:  terror-in-a-dream zzzoehsu linmanwhydididothis mikiprice thegentlehoneybee dorothywonderland maeng

    Video Marketing Vs Video Advertising
Are you careworn approximately the difference between video marketing and advertising? Do not worry about it, most of the people are. Regardless of being worried about broadcast and video manufacturing for over 11 years I nevertheless get burdened and need to reflect consideration on it. There are nonetheless gray regions and big overlaps and these are simplest turnings into much less clean because the virtual amalgamation continues to strengthen. I wrote a 35,000-phrase thesis in the course of my Masters year at University about virtual convergence and it’s one of the proudest portions of labor I’ve created because most of my predictions returned in 2005 have come to fruition.
Again in 2005 the net and television/video had been separate entities, as were mobile phones
Now the 3 are intertwined like the roots of a vine tree. Funnily sufficient, and I did not realize this at the time, YouTube became registered as a trademark on Valentine’s Day that very yr. As virtual bandwidth became freed up, 3G, and then 4G, got here to prominence permitting, finally, for the net to end up a fact on our phones. Who might have thought lower back then whilst we handiest had Snake on our phones and the capacity to keep handiest ten textual content messages that we’d soon be able to stream stay Television. I’m barely digressing here however it turned into this blurring of strains that significantly affected the extra defined lines of advertising and advertising.
back then video advertising was a hundred% all approximate advertisements, those we see on Tv. There could be very defined entries in advertisers budgets for Tv classified ads. Now given advertising and marketing is a part of advertising, an agency’s drip down price range would appear to be this:
Marketing->Avertising->Television advertisements/Print/Radio
Believe a big circle labeled advertising. Then within that, a smaller circle classified marketing. Then within that three smaller circle categorized Television advertisements, PRINT, RADIO.
Now with the phenomenal upward push to prominence of the net, it has resulted in streaming, social media, video sharing, picture sharing, apps, downloading (each felony and unlawful) and many others. Mixture this with digital video manufacturing and you’ve got a totally integrated and undefined enterprise for advertising and marketing and advertising movies. Earlier than moving on to answer the authentic query posted in this newsletter, Video advertising Vs Video advertising, let me give, for my part, a definition of each.
Video advertising is a video which explicitly highlights a service or product so one can sell it using paid for the area, whether or not it’s on terrestrial Television, cable, the gateway to a YouTube video or an electronic billboard.
Video advertising is any kind of video which promotes a logo in any manner, form or shape. It won’t even promote a product. For instance, a video testimonial does not sell something, however, it improves a business enterprise’s PR (speak my approximately PR as it relates to marketing and advertising is a whole other article).

What's the goal of my science website? Almost a year ago I opened a science website. To be truthful, it wasn't new. I originally had opened it in 2011 but after seeing nobody cared about it and since I couldn't generate original articles, I left it. Only a free wordpress page continued with no new content. In the first months of 2016, I dropped out college and sought things to do. Obvious choice was technology. I returned to coding and being able to piece together some basic code gave me confidence. I looked back my old science page and saw in 6 years, it had around 60k visitors. I asked to myself: "What if I had continued publishing new stuff for the last 6 years? How many visitors would it attract?" I have a serious problem. Once I start doing something, I expect immediate and wonderful results. For instance, coding. I started back in '12. I fantasized being a Bill Gates. After 3 months, all I coded was a booking program in C#. Looking back, it was a great success however at that time what I saw was failure. Right now, I'm aware that I'm doing the same for my science website. There are few science&tech sites that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and likes in Turkey. There isn't a single noteworthy page that passed 1 million likes on Facebook. However what I fantasized once again was passing these pages and dominating all the country in this topic. Realism is cruel but it shows the obvious. I'm not still generating original content. To be fair, I'm not equipped with necessary knowledge to create an article. There is only one thing I have: passion and love for science. And i really want to share this to everyone on this planet. It's been a year and I have about 2k visitors to my website and 2.7k likes on Facebook. Statistics on FB shows that my audience is largely 13-24 years olds. This gives me hope. Because it shows that there are lots of young people like me who are interested in science. But also, a strategy might be lying in front of me. This is the social media generation. I am one of them and I know how they react. An example: If I publish only text-based long articles, no one is going to read it. So, why in the first place am I trying to write an article like these? I'm not a doctorate student who hopes to be on Nature. I am a science and tech enthusiast who wants to share this passion&love with his peers. At first, I thought of making money out of this page. "I'm making an enourmous effort, I need to be paid!" But once again, my feet were not on the ground. Most importantly, I was losing my initial reason why I opened the page. This was just a self-critique which occupied too much space in my head. I'm relieved to get it out of my system. My current science blog lost its way and unable to live in midst of its competitors. This one year showed me importance of social media and creative content. So, I need to mix creativity with science. As of 2017, I'm going to transfer everything to Tumblr. Instead of long posts, I'm going to focus on pictures, short videos and gifs. Let's see how it will work out.
