OUTLANDER REBLOG-ATHON ∣ June 2020

Reblog vs Repost: what to do and what NOT to do with content created and posted by other fandom members. (Fun Fact: this also applies every other day of the year - not just during this event).

Why should I reblog? It’s quick, it’s easy and most importantly the original author retains ownership of the post no matter how many times it is reblogged (aka shared) across tumblr. In fact, creators/authors LOVE it when you reblog their posts!

Why shouldn’t I repost? Anything you upload to a new post will state that YOU are the author. By copying or saving someone else content and then uploading to your own blog you are effectively stealing that person’s content and telling the world that YOU created it. It doesn’t matter that you know differently or that this is not your intention - this is how others will interpret your post. All too often this has a negative impact on the original author who no doubt spent hours, days or even weeks creating this content. This can include anxiety, stress or depression (just to name a few) and can quite often lead a creator/author to stop posting anything ever again. Ultimately, it’s because of creators/authors that this fandom exists as we know it - they deserve both respect and recognition for their hard work. We can show this by reblogging and not reposting their content.

Can’t I just repost and credit the original author below? This answer is not so simple - it really comes down to the creator/author. Some creators purposefully create content such as gifs and post them online for people to use and post how the wish. In cases such as these, creators will often add a note such as ‘Feel free to use’ or ‘Please make sure to credit when reposting’ either on an individual post or in their blog description. In this case, reposting with credit is perfectly fine. If a creator has not done so, however, we believe it is best practice to assume the content is for reblog only. Alternatively, you could contact the original author via DM and ask for approval - just please make sure to respect their decision whatever it may be.

#Repost from @solgasart . I finished it! I have seen many beautiful edits of this scene and had doubts already.. Should I still paint this... (Many doubts last time, ye? 😅) But the beauty of these two decided for me. And I returned to this scene, started from null and painted my version. Last time I am a big fan of rough textures, love the unique play of brushes on paintings. So, I did this drawing with the new feeling and updated technique. Yes, this is how I feel it now.
