I have the HC that Lance has pretty good cooking skills. He isn't the greatest chef, but he can still prepare you a good meal.

I have also thought of him being pescetarian or vegan. With how he is in the SPE manga I like to think that they're not so fond of consuming pokémon-based products.

Some part of me thinks of Bruno having more of a regular diet, although I fully think he would also be pescetarian.

The kicker is that Bruno has a huge love for food and I just find it kinda cute cause I like to think that the moment he most anticipates of the day is when he and Lance finally make it out of the league, head home after work, and they just have a conversation in the kitchen as Lance prepares some food for them both. Or at least that's the mental image I have at times.

And Bruno truly enjoys Lance's cooking.

Some friends and I in a Discord server got onto the topic of Pokémon soundtracks and we wondered what would happen if Pokémon had more distinct names for its battle themes.

For example, Final Fantasy has the likes of One Winged Angel, Battle on the Big Bridge or Blinded By Light.

Xenoblade has You Will Know Our Names, or The Acting God.

Fire Emblem has Blue Skies and a Battlefield, Twilight of the Gods or Apex of the World.

But in Pokémon, you’re lucky to get anything more distinct than Battle! (Gym Leader). So, here are some alternate titles I came up with for the various Champion themes. Spoilers obviously.

RBY: Clash of the Forest and Flames (Reference to the original Japanese titles of Red and Green. Also conveys clashing elements/polar opposites. Especially fitting if the player starts with Bulbasaur.)

GSC: Indigo's Pinnacle (Lance and Red are the two champions of the Indigo League. Can also be a nod to Red being at the 'pinnacle' of Mt. Silver).

RSE: The Jewel of Hoenn (Ties into Steven’s love of stones and fossils, while also being the ‘jewel’ in a more metaphorical sense as a Champion. Doesn’t quite work for Wallace outside of imagery of elegance, but honestly, I struggled to give this theme a name that reflected both of them).

DPP: She Who Walks Among Legends (Homage to Cynthia's interest in mythology. And, come on. You gotta go with something pretty grandiose for Cynthia.)

BW: The Master's Final Spar (Alder takes on more of a mentor role in both games, which gives this battle a different atmosphere compared to other Champion fights, and the name reflects that. There’s a gentle familiarity to this Champion battle. 'Spar' is how Alder himself describes the fight before the battle starts).

BW2: The Region's Rising Star (Iris is a plucky young upstart, and the whole battle ground has a star/space aesthetic, but it also can be a double meaning for the player as having become a 'rising star' over their own journey).

XY: Graceful Finale (Diantha is an actress, so a stage/film theme which retains the games' focus on beauty works).

SM: Dawn of the Champion (‘Dawn’ is a nod to daylight/sun and moon, keeping on theme with the game’s title but also references the crowning of the region's first champion)

USUM: Choosing of Champions (similar name scheme to SM, except now it's a competition between equals for the position. It’s not Kukui testing you before you become Champion. Rather, it’s you and Hau competing one last time to see who gets the title.).

SWSH: Blaze of Glory (...is Charizard. I dunno, I feel this one is self explanatory).

And a few bonus ones for some of the non Champion final bosses:

N: Beyond Veritas and Spes (The words here literally mean 'truth' and 'hope' in Latin. N’s theme should naturally have a name that homages the ‘truth and ideals’ conflict. There's not really a direct translation for 'ideals' in that sense as far as I know, so I went with 'hope').

Ghetsis: The Monster Of Two Faces (Ghetsis' entire design is built around a duplicitous two face theme).

Volo: To Be As Gods (Biblical reference that fits Volo's goal of reaching Arceus. No I wasn’t intending it to resemble the name of a track from NieR Automata. Call it a happy accident).

Pokespe masters 8. who ya got?

I haven't watched the anime in ages, but I am vaguely aware of the major beats of Journeys thanks to tumblr and twitter. Let's just take a quick look at the bulbapedia page...

...and bajeezus, how the heck are the logistics of a tournament of this magnitude supposed to work, keeping track of the rankings and scheduling look to be a major headache...they could've at least used a bracket system...

Well, in any case, do what the anime did, throw in the champions plus a few extras. Red's still the Indigo League Champion while Lance never was, Wallace is the current Hoenn Champion instead of Steven, and it's a coin flip on whether Black or Iris gets the spot as the Unova Champion. Also, Spe!Alola doesn't have a League, so they don't get a rep.

So far we got Red, Wallace, Cynthia, Black/Iris, Diantha, and Leon. We got two spaces left, it'd be fun to leave one for a Paldea rep. For that last one, ehhhhh...I'd go with Green or Raihan, with Green being Red's equal and Raihan being touted as being as strong as other regional champions.
