That's right folks I'm doing some crossover fanart for @celestialalpacaron because I love her Diamond Spinel AU and won't you look at that I have a somewhat similar AU to boot!

I mean the surface level similarities are there, they're both Spinel dressed as Pink Diamond and lives with the diamonds along with adorable companions by their side but that's kiiiinda where the similarities end. DS (Diamond Spinel) is a what-if where the diamonds take her home after the movie happens and have her replace Pink in era 3, while SD (Spinel Diamond) is a what-if where Blue Diamond grieves in Pink Diamond's garden, finds Spinel and has her replace Pink from era 2 all the way to near the beginning of era 3.

DS seems to mostly be about Spinel denying that there's something wrong with how the diamonds treat her and stuff because she's afraid they'll reject her if she voices any complaints because the diamond ADORE her, she thinks she's being somewhat ungrateful of this adoration she's been given by the diamonds

SD, on the other hand, is mostly about Spinel being forced by the diamonds to be Pink Diamond without being like Pink Diamond, this creates a host of issues including public outrage against her, isolation, self-loathing and an identity crisis, and after era 2 it'd be Spinel trying to climb up the rabbit hole that the diamonds dug for her through abuse, reinforcement and a game of cat and mouse.

So apparently this is gonna be a whole thing and if I'm being honest I am already planning plot points and stuff. Remember that one epic mickey themed crossover I did with @a-second-chance-su-au? Well, @luciifluffii added onto that with an animatronic version of their AU Spinel so I'm just here brainstorming stuff and using it as an excuse to insert some of my unused AUs and now I'm questioning my sanity because holy heck do am I way too hyped for this.

By the way Dragon Steven is from @how-to-train-your-monster which is made by the same person who made a second chance AU aka @dimonds456, the rest of the AUs (except the animatronic swap Spinel and Volleyball) are made by me because I have way too many ideas that I don't draw enough of, they'll mostly be regular npcs in my mind except for maybe CG Bluebird and of course the two "monsters" in there.

So yeah I've been sleeping on my other AU since... Oh crap my last post on the SU amino for this was on March 1st? Geez...

Alright so basically; Spinel was found by Blue Diamond in the garden while she was grieving there a bit after Pink faked her shattering, and... Let's just say Spinel didn't like it alot

She has her own pearl, of course. And she's like, the only gem Spinel genuinely likes, being that her pearl is actually nice to her, and not the sort of backhanded niceness she gets alot of the time.

And then Spinel gets drop kicked out of the diamond family the moment Steven proved he was Pink Diamond

She has met Steven before atleast twice, and the reveal really broke her. But she did try to be nice to Steven even after that, it's only polite

How does Amaranth feel about all of this? That Spinel wasn't needed anymore and that the Diamond Authority was disbanded?

She couldn't care less about it as long as Spinel seemed happy (though the bar was practically at bedrock until then), and really, who could blame her when someone so depressing cracks a genuine smile for the first time in a couple years?
