my uni has finally given those who want to pitch to be production designers a script to work with and its so boring 😭😭 so i have to be over the top in my presentation to get this role

#and prod design at my uni includes costume design so i have to go and draw those out too 😭🙄 #im just gonna make the sets in blender or the sims 3 ik u can do it in unreal engine too but i need to get the hang #of that. maybe ill teach myself it idk but i know how to use blender and obvs the sims 4 is pretty good for #stuff like this too. all those days of watching ppls sims 4 builds has to come this! 😁 #but like the locations are so.... ugh like i thought we were just gonna have to sell ourselves #like we come up with a film concept or scene and go from there. i was already planning on making sets #for this film idea ive had for over a year now!!! but whatever its better that i have a script so i know i what im doing #but im not surprised it was picked because its just a drama like the scripts that are fantasy never yet chosen 😭 #like this really is a reflection of the actual industry but i digress this is gonna he easy for me because i dont have to be #that creative. i can take some liberties yes! but nothing that really stretches my mind in terms of creativity #its more about showing what you can do. there is only so much you can do with a bar. a bedroom. a guy in a suit and an apartment. 🤷🏾‍♀️ #*i meant the sims 4 the first time!

All this talk about the Sims prices got me thinking... If you're a gamer like me (or someone who enjoys RPGs and the like) you have probably noticed this too - and this isn't about shaming ppl who buy and love the Sims because we do to or you wouldn't be reading this post on a Simblr 🤷🏻‍♀️

A Sims 4 pack costs 50€. Maybe you get a pack you really love like Seasons or Cats& Dogs... Or maybe you get the disappointing wreck of a pack that was Island Living 😑 But you know what else costs 50€? Games like Cyberpunk, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed... Really good games you only have to pay for once! And this is the issue here! Not paying 50€ (though that's a lot of money) but paying it over and over again for content that's getting less and less good...!

And now you'll say "wait a minute Sam! Those games have nothing to do with the Sims! They're completely different!" Fine! Then compare it to another simulation game like Planet Zoo and see the difference between a game that's been planned and thought over to a game that has been thrown together to appease the masses. And unfortunately we know that many ppl in those masses are idiots and bullies so I understand the pressure to get something done but since the gurus are the ones dealing with the public and EA is the vaccum in the back sucking all our money I doubt that's the reason for the unfinished, poor quality products we've been getting lately.

The Discover University trailer got me thinking "ok... This actually looks pretty cool" and that was the end of my barely existing hype. I wasn't one of the university fans out there - I've been to college, it wasn't great 😑 A few minutes into the stream I had to stop because they were all over the place and nothing showed was even remotely new. I couldn't even watch James' build/buy and gameplay video because this pack seems like more of the same and I'm just tired of it. Sure there's lots to do - too much to do if you ask me. It's a little overwhelming and not making me want to try it anytime soon - and I've done the super sim challenge! I like a challenge and to stay on top of things but at the end of the day University seems like it fills your Sims day with stuff to do (so much stuff to do) so you'll ignore the fact that it's just more of the same. Go to class, do your homework, learn anything - and I mean anything - you want because we thought giving you access to everything in game would ve fun and get you off our backs. It was the same with RoM where the spells are nothing more than cheats.

Speaking of which, I remember with RoM everyone saying "WE ARE BEING FED" but after playing it, guess what?! We have not been fed...! The game is ridiculously repetitive - even the damn spells are learned in the same order!

Seasons was a great expansion! Vampires was a great game pack! And laundry day was a great stuff pack - hell there's more gameplay in that than in Island Living (but don't get me started on that ridiculous excuse for a pack).

The thing is, at the end of the day, The Sims is an awesome game to play and I love it. But I don't love being made for a fool and I definitely don't love being robbed with every pack costing more and more and having less content, less gameplay and less care put into it...!

It's mostly sad and I'll be the first to say I have every pack and never spent a dime on any of them because 50€ is a lot of money and I'm very picky about the games I buy and, at the end of the day, the Sims is not worth the price it costs!

1. what is the smell of your shampoo?

Moroccan Argan and Camellia Oils (I don’t use fancy shampoo, it’s the Whole Blends stuff. We buy it at Wal-Mart) I had to go into the bathroom to check to see which one it was)

2. what’s your aesthetic?

Idk man, mostly comfort. I stopped wearing jeans like over a year ago. My room has like fifty styles going on in it. But I like having a lot of house plants. I used to be Punk, but now I’m just kind of here...I was thinking about it last night, that I didn’t pic out a single thing of furniture in my room. It’s all extra stuff or stuff that my brother or sister left behind so I stole it for my own use. I like cool tones, blues, turquoise, that sort of thing. 

3. what’s your favourite time of day?

Nighttime. I’m a major night owl. But I like sitting outside during the day if it’s nice out with my dog Abby, she loves chillin’ outside.

4. what do you like most about the beach?

I hate sand, but I like the sound of the waves? My sister dragged me to the beach and I got a blister bc it had been so long since I’d worn flip flops.

5. what do you worry about constantly?

Everything!! Not having a job, not seeing my friends, my dogs, writing, makeup videos, dying, moving out, reading (yes. reading), needing a new phone,the mice in my house bc they were in my room at one point so every time I hear a noise my anxiety spikes, the fact that my stepdad wants me to move into his dad’s old house so we can fix it up and sell it, but keeps restricting everything. “You’re not there to have fun or “live” there. You’re there to work. “You’re not allowed to cost me anymore money with heating” (it’s set at 55 degrees in the house rn like what the fuck).

6. what is a song you’ve cried to before?

Next to Me by Imagine Dragons. It was already a sad song for me but it was also the first song I listened to after Uncle Frank died. I was watching One Tree Hill and the Uncle died, and after, Next to Me came on and it made me think of Uncle Frank. Also Saturn by Sleeping At Last (there are really good Supernatural and TWD videos to it on YouTube that make me cry).

7. what are some relaxing tips for your followers?

I clean my room when I’m freaking out.  Also, doing like sudoku or crossword puzzles, puzzles in general. Going for a walk just keeps you in your own head, but if you can get your mind focused on something else, like problem solving, then it helps calm you down. Sometimes I just work on stuff for the collab or build a house on the sims.

8. what are some things that make you tear up?

Music. Music makes me cry if it hits me right. Movies/TV shows. I will cry over the simplest things from Supernatural, mostly happy things. My life makes me cry. Also, Abby. Abby has something about her that hits me at certain moments. She’s a good puppy (sometimes lol).

9. what is your favourite thing from each of the five senses?

Sight - movies/tv/reading. I love stories and characters and getting to live with them for a little while.

Smell - strawberry/raspberry, I like sweet smells like vanilla, cupcakes...I have a lot of candles. Also, the butterfly bush we have it really good in the summer.

Taste - popcorn. I like salty foods. a good brownie is the best thing ever.

Touch - Abby. Abby is so soft, she’ll be ten this year, but she’s so freaking soft. Also JimJam’s muffin top. For a short-haired dog, he’s very soft.

Sound - Niall’s voice (I find his voice very calming). Also a sucker for a crackling fire. I hate silence. I’m usually playing music.

10. what is one alternative reality you’d want to be in?

One where I’m happy and productive. (is that too depressing?) umm, yeah I can’t think of anything.

11. what are some troubles you face on a day to day basis?

Well, with the depression and anxiety, and generally being a disappointment because of the depression, anxiety, lack of job, initiative, and will to live, um yeah...it’s all just sunshine and candy canes (my therapist told me to stop doing that and saying how I really feel, but I like the sarcasm).

12. what is one scene of a book that makes you really sad?

Six of Crows when a character’s father basically says that his son is a useless idiot because he can’t read and he doesn’t care if his son dies. I think about it a lot. Also, from my own writing, in Vale of Plenty when Harry says to Niall that no one deserves to be hit. That one gets me and I wrote it.

13. say something to your followers:

I know I’m a small blog and I always seem to be having some sort of mental breakdown, but I am always here for any of you, no matter what. I’m one of those people that’s afraid to ask the waiter for ketchup, but if my friend needs ketchup, watch me flag down that waiter and ask for it for them (if that makes any sense).  If you ever just want to talk or vent or if you need help on a project you’re working on, just let me know. I appreciate every single one of you for following me!
