10th Anniversary Celebration Day 3: Official Art

So, for the third day of this 10th anniversary blog celebration, I chose to feature some official art that I like/love. One of the suggestions for this event was to post about what three pieces of official art are my favorite (which proved to be really difficult). Ultimately, I chose to feature 10 pieces of official art (magic mirrors) from Tales of the Rays, since I feel like out of the two mobile games that are left, I haven’t posted as much about it compared to Asteria. Also, the mobile games have probably provided some of my favorite official art out of every type of media Symphonia has been involved in, and I just really appreciate what the artists have done with each character in those games (such as providing them with outfits or costumes that weren’t in the original game but should’ve been). I also love that Rays has included newer art based on actual scenes in the game for the magic mirror art, some of which you can see above.

When I first got into Tales of Symphonia, I noticed a lot of people were either annoyed or angry that Colette apologized all the time. People are entitled to their opinion, but that’s always bothered me.

For one, it makes a lot of sense that she would apologize all the time. She’s had the entire weight of the world on her shoulders since she was born. That’s a horrible amount of pressure to put on a person, let alone a teenage girl. In her mind, messing up means that everything she loves will die. That would cause a lot of anxiety and insecurity to build up over time, leading to her being super apologetic.

I apologized (and still apologize) all the time too. There are a number of personal reasons as to why I’m like this, but a lot of it has to do with anxiety and self esteem issues. I literally can’t help it most of the time, and I imagine that Colette can’t either. This is a wider problem I have with the way fandom culture is super cold and unsympathetic to female characters in general.

Anyway, I’ve always felt that Colette was far more complex than that fanbase gives her credit. Though, I’m glad that there seems to be a strong group of fans for her now, at least in the part of the fandom I’ve seen these past few months.

ngl, kind of feel bad for magnius this time around. like. cruxis is a mess, but it was initially well meaning, even if... turning everyone into a half-elf isn’t the right way to get rid of discrimination between humans, elves and half-elves, it’s... idk. an effort. misguided, sure, but. the intent was nice all the same.

doesn’t really justify the human ranches tho.

So, for the second day of this 10th anniversary blog celebration, I chose three pieces (because I wanted it to be like yesterday’s post) made by my very talented friend @moldy-mold!

I just love everything about her art, how detailed it is, the bright colors, just everything... 

My favorite out of these three pieces, if I really have to choose, has to be the Wedding tuxedo Kratos one.
