Welcome to Night City Gigs - a weekly prompt page that encourages interaction with those in the community! Regardless of your medium, we encourage you to participate and meet new people! Here's how it works On each Monday, at 12:00 (Noon) MST there will be a "Gig Post" with the information for the gig! Gig's will be either issued by a moderator or user-submitted; if you want to submit your own gig, please do from our page!

Once a Gig is posted, commenting under it (it can say anything, but it does need to say the OC who is responding to the gig!) will earn you a slot! Slots for the gig are determined by the Caper Crew Maximum; it will say on the Gig Listing! These slots are first come first serve for each listing- that being said, if you have participated in the previous listing you are considered LOW priority for the next one. This allows others to join in who haven't yet participated! Gigs will be available to join for 24 hours after posting- these posts will be labelled as CLOSED after those 24 hours and the individual's will be @'d in the comments letting them know they got the slot!

You then have time to create! Write, in-game photography, art, or even RP! Whatever you can contribute to it, do it! Have fun! Meet new people! Once you post content, please @ this page! We would love to reblog your content!

Before applying for a slot, please ensure that you have some kind of reference for the character that you are entering for that gig. This is kind for those who are working with visual mediums. Not having a reference (even an in-game reference is better than nothing) might have you restricted from future gigs.

As this is a group activity, there are going to always have a variety of skill sets, personalities, and tastes. Everyone has come here to allow the community to flourish and celebrate our interests. Finally, being kind is a lot easier than being mean. We're all adults here- please have a kind and calm conversation if you've come to a disagreement!

Tapping Out

Someone might enter a gig and then might not be able to create due to personal circumstances. In this instance, we please ask that you message the appropriate parties (it could just be this page) so you can pull out of that Gig. This is only a preventative measure so that nobody is taking advantage of free resources or having the rest of the Caper Crew members feeling as if the circumstance is unfair. Tapping out this way will NOT bar you from future gigs!

i’ll be so for real i don’t use cherp unless i’m in a dire situation of rp desperation. it’s a last resort, and usually a waste of energy for me bc i have moved on from naruto to a fandom with somehow even less of an rp presence despite it being one of the most popular games ever released in it’s genre. but that’s not really cherps fault. my current cherp gripe is once again the tagging system. i’m sorry but i do think it knocks down peoples chances of getting connects when they have to add 8 scary tags to their prompt for vague mentions of things existing in the backstory of a character, which IS a very different from having the tag actually featured in the rp. it’s also just……. nsfwe does not mean anything anymore. i feel bad for ppl looking for actual nsfwe content while the tag is filled with completely normal prompts that are just there bc someone has a tragic backstory.

it’s also useless to me for actually blacklisting content i don’t want to see. like “abuse” is tagged for rps that actively feature abuse or want to rp an abusive dynamic, but also ones that just have it in the backstory or otherwise in the background. i’m fine with the latter, and i’m not fine with like, rping an abusive dynamic. but i’m fine with it being featured in the rp in other aspects or as a background element. so blacklisting the tag is not helpful bc it also blacklists prompts i might want and would not be upsetting to me. but also i have to wade through shit i don’t want to see. and likewise, actual nsfwe rpers have to wade through a bunch of irrelevant normal shit. it’s just not very effective and i feel like there should be tags that differentiate the level of how those red tags actually exist in the rp.

yes, she was made for the descendants fandom which is actually quite insane when you think about it because there's literally another character with the same name (ally in the wicked world series which is, i think, a lot less taken from in the desc rpc anyway) but to be fair she was more valentine than allie at that time anyway, still called allie but valentine wasn't as off limits as it is now. a lot of the name stuff had to do with the fact that she was definitely more pixie hollow fairy based than fae lore based like she is now.

i eventually moved her away from being descendants based because 1., i was using her modern verse way more and 2., i was a weenie and the disney rpcs were on everyone's blacklists. i didn't move because i was traumatized from it or anything i still have her desc verse available and met literally so many of my oldest and best rpc friends in that fandom because allie was my first rp blog. i've had allie for almost 4 years now and i think for the first 2ish she was desc based and the last 2 have been fandomless? i don't regret moving her because now she suits fandomless more, i think, but she's made more development in the descendants verse and i enjoy the collaborativeness of it with my friends. it's just very much a different vibe from her main which doesn't have a lot of solidity in it and that's okay!! because it's rp and that's kinda how it works to be flexible w things.

The gist of it is you basically put out a prompt/ad for a writing idea, or browse others, to find other people to write it with. Has character/fandom/content tags etc. Everything is 100% anonymous on both ends, only the individual chats are logged as kind of like a mini forum thread. Has a blacklist feature too so you can cut down on whatever fandoms or interaction types you don't want to see. Even has a whitelist that will override it if you think there is some particular golden combination of tags you really DO like amongst a general background of stuff you don't lol.

There is some way to exchange some code to find specific people if you really want, I havent used it myself.

NAME. Sabine/Saby

BEST EXPERIENCE. I had many good experiences, I couldn't just name one without feeling like I don't do the others justice by not mentioning them as well. And while my memories of being part of tumblr multi-fandom rpc's are somewhat bittersweet now, but I wouldn't be here writing if a friend didn't convince me into it back then.

PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION. I definitely prefer to plot and discuss ooc things on discord. tumblr's IM's are fine for quick small things and to get to know each other for a bit before exchanging discord, but I find the small chat window impractical for in-depth discussions.

MOST ACTIVE MUSE. Krang. He was my blob boy back then and he still is the main character on this blog for me. As a multimuse, my moods and interests may shift around, but there's always room for Krang if I'm here to post around.

EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS. On tumblr, it's about 10 years? Maybe 11? I have no concept of time tbh. I wrote already on a different site before, which is about 17 years ago, but it was all in german. With that plenty of experience you'd think I'd know better than to repeat certain mistakes over and over but alas

RP PET PEEVES. Definitely anything drama-related. Coming on my blog to have fun and seeing someone declare war on someone else ooc on my dash without any tags on it is a huge turn-off for me and often ruins my own mood. In that same vein, I can't stand callout culture. Forcing people into a 'me or them' situation because you don't like that person they rp with, is bullshit. Ask them to tag their blog and blacklist the tag, problem solved. I want to unwind here and have fun in my little sandbox, not to become the president of the united states. Also, vague posting and the inability of people to talk about their issues? If you have a problem with a partner, talk to them?? How people prefer to vague-rant about their partners over actually trying to solve the problem, while actively doing a hobby that requires writing with other people is honestly beyond me? If you can't handle the stress of writing with people, then why do you engage in a writing hobby with said other people? Note here, I prefer people come forward to me if I did something wrong, even though I have severe social anxiety myself. Partners talking to me about shit I did is a LOT of stress to me, but I don't just block and run. I listen and I acknowledge it. And I try to do better. I can only learn to righten mistakes and get better at handling my social anxieties when I actually deal with it instead of running away. It's not rocket science. Does my pulse race and I get all sweaty and uncomfortable? Yes. But I feel a lot better having a problem solved afterward than having it linger around forever and the constant trash-talking behind each other's back like pre-schoolers.

PLOTS OR MEMES. Both? Both is good. There have been instances where I received prompts that left me a little clueless on what to do with them, and in other instances, I wrote up a whole starter for a potential fun plot from a received prompt alone. Memes can lead to interesting situations and are good ice-breakers. The trick is to pick the right muse/s and the right prompt. It's definitely a hit or miss, but I DO like prompt memes. Plotting helps to solidify the chemistry between the muses through it all and to not suddenly run into a dead-end. How a muse will react to option A or option B, where they actually are, and if there will be any potential NPC. But I'm not into plotting things out from A to Z. There are always variables and it sucks to run into a situation in the plot that actually feels out of character for your muse to do, just to keep the plot going. It takes the fun out of writing a story for me. I like to have a little freedom in a moderately plotted thread. It helps to just talk about the muses with a partner, to find a common ground. Maybe both muses mourn about losing a beloved one, both muses have lost everything and need to rebuild themselves up from the ground. I don't like people coming to me and ask me right away if I have 'any ideas for a plot'. My brain usually goes into static mode right away. I prefer people just asking about my muses or telling me about theirs to hit off with a plot.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES.  Definitely long to medium in length. I don't mind short, light-hearted shenanigans to get in the writing mood, but they usually get on the longer side very fast lmao. I just like to set the mood and describe my muse's processings, but it is also important to me to include my partner's muse into it. So it gets inevitably long very fast. I don't expect my partners to match length. But if a reply feels very lackluster with many errors and little content to work with, I am likely to ask for a change or ask to drop it if the mood for it seems gone.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES? Not really. I mean, there are bits and pieces that resonate with me. Like Shredder's anger. I won't lie, I am a very spiteful little goblin and I can get angry about anything and everything. I am not as vengeful tho, I let go of things that pissed me off eventually. I am also very insecure about myself and the things I do, so I can relate to Krang's hidden insecurities. Sins of the Son. Nabu inherited his fathers immortality and continued to help and serve him as his advisor and general, even after the fall of Babylonia. He'll never forgive him for that but protecting humanity from Klarion is his main goal, and Vandal seems to have a plan there.

Muses;

I primarily play Nabu, or Dr Fate with a host in the background. Giovanni may show up both independently and as Dr Fates host. Zatanna, Tracy and Khalid will likely not show up.
