The Handmaid’s Tale S5E4
Okay so everyone hates Luke bc obviously Nick is fine as hell but y’all overlook him so much. He is June’s softest place to land & she deserves that so much. And, might I mention, he puts up with sooooo much of her trauma. He doesn’t blame her, he actually chooses to love June & through that choice, he pushes himself to understand her most insane behavior.
& I loved the sex scene. I feel like we *finally* saw them have a moment of true connection and dare I say..fun with one another. It was passionate & primal & just all the things *sigh*. That needed to happen because their first sexual encounter after June came home was fucking terrifying. It was awful. This one showed June learning how to trust and be around Luke again. They deserve.

I just LOVE how Serena told June "the God allowed me to have a baby on my own, He wants to me to redeem myself and me and my husband will be a family again" and June was like "lol nope" and killed Fred with her bare hands. Stan June for clear skin.

Fat tears well in Serena’s hollow eyes, doubtless one of the many tricks of the trade she’d learned for her role of matron of the Waterford household. God only knows on how many occasions she’s drawn from that well, whether it be to water her husband’s idealistic view of the ‘weaker sex’ or, well…
What else is a woman of Gilead to do?
Treat it like a job.
Smile meekly. Flash your pretty white teeth. Put on that skimpy dress and those six-inch heels and act like there aren’t twenty thousand other places you’d rather be. The more she considers, the more June is forced to come to terms with the fact that she can’t really blame Serena for barricading herself behind these cheap, shallow theatrics – but she wants to, and fuck, if she doesn’t deserve this.
“I came here to tell you, in person, just how much I hate you.”
June had rehearsed it in her head for days, weeks, even months. From the first time she’d been pinned down on that fucking bed, willed herself to drown in the sea of blue overhead; to the much-too-short walk through the bone-chilling cold of Canadian winter, staved perhaps more effectively by the inferno ever boiling in her blood. How she’s kept it at bay for so long, how she’s yearned for the perfect opportunity to Godsmack this woman with every glaring aspect of her character – narcissist; manipulator; raging, self-absorbed bitch.
So why, now that June at last stares down at this mangled tragedy of a woman, just as she’d always pictured, can’t she bring herself even to revel in her hard-earned, long-awaited moment of triumph?
The words spill from her mouth with no more leisure than they enter her head.
“The truth is, I don’t even know who you are.”
For once, a spark of genuine awareness ignites within Serena Joy’s eyes, one that June hasn’t witnessed since…
Never mind that now.
Spurred on by the rarity, in sorrow and with justice, June secures one final, rusted, iron nail.
“And neither, I think, do you.”

Brief Serena/June drabble, in which I project how I WANTED that scene to go. :)

alright anon lets talk about the handmaid’s tale season 5 episode 1 🤨
so we left off with June killing Fred and that first scene went like how I predicted it -- June is euphoric about it and moira and luke are freaked out and then her and her merry band of killers go out to eat. anyways the thing I thought seemed a little out of character with the NEW June (aka murderous, wants to end gilead, blah blah blah) is that she would not want to join the other women in helping them kill their commanders? like Im assuming shes after Serena now but when it comes to another commander, now her rational thinking starts kicking in and she thinks the plan wouldn’t be feasible...?
anyways I’ll admit they took an approach I wasn’t expecting with Emily aka alexis bledel leaving the show. I thought they would’ve just pretended like her character doesn’t exist cause thats what they did for the last two seasons but I kinda like that they surprised me. although idk how much I can believe that emily would willingly go back to gilead even if it was for revenge. like yeah her character was a very angry one but the only person unhinged enough to go back there is june
moving on june’s plot armor is solid as ever given that she can’t even be punished for killing fred cause it wasn’t on canadian soil. I mean good for her that even during her murdeorus rampage she made sure she was sticking to her borders LOL?
im gonna be honest I don’t understand anything about how this immigration situation and Serena’s status as a criminal works? like is she 100% free or were there circumstances to her being able to travel to gilead or is she just breaking the law I GENUINELY CAN’T REMEMBER! one of my main criticisms about all of this world politics storyline is I think the writers are making up the international relations between gilead canada and usa as they go.
lastly I have no idea what they want us to do about nick anymore. like you’d think with someone who now has as much power as he does and is constantly making out with June in front of everyone can basically get away with anything but noooo here he is just chilling with a new wife. I can’t even remember why he has a wife or what their plan would be?

The Handmaid’s Tale (Season 4)
With season 5 now airing, I thought it might be time to reminisce about last season, and discuss where "The Handmaid's Tale" might be going. Do you have any theories?
