jay's union birthday ssr vignette + art!
Tumblr media
it's jay's bday!! :D
i remind you that i only see fake!jay as a playable character while real!jay does appear in the story, you can't play as him, so he doesn't get his own vignette. he does get mentioned though!
and here's another reminder that in the third year/graduated versions post i've mentioned that fake!jay's personality would change a lot and.. as i said, i want my characters to actually get older, so you can see him already starting to act differently in this vignette <3
also this one is a bit short bc i basically had to speedrun both writing his vignette and drawing his bday art
[ part 1 ]
[ ujasiri dorm lounge - birthday venue ]
jay: "i wonder who i will get as my presenter."
jay: "it's probably gonna be allen-senpai, isn't it.."
jay: "or maybe it will be blythe-senpai-"
???: happy birthday, jay-chan!!~ ヾ(⌒▽⌒)ノ
jay: ".. oh. it's still a speculum student, but a different one."
jay: ".. the dorm leader, to be more exact."
angel: i was chosen to be your presenter! \ (^-^) /
angel: and i promise to take my job very seriously. ( ̄ー ̄)
jay: ".. a-are all speculum students like that? maybe they're just trying to be more like their dorm leader?"
jay: "i think blythe-senpai is like.. the only exception."
jay: i-i see.. i'm happy to see you, ashley-senpai-
angel: please call me angel! (>_<) everybody calls me that and you should too~ ^‿^
jay: by the way, why do people call you that? is it like.. a nickname or something?
angel: eh, i don't know, someone came up with it and said that it suits me because i'm so kind. (• ε •)
jay: .. but what is an "angel" exactly?..
angel: i don't know, ask seth-chan about it. he came up with it and when he explained it to the other students, they agreed that it's perfect for me and i just played along. ╮(─▽─)╭
jay: .. oh, so it was his idea..
angel: but enough about me!( ̄へ ̄ ) it's your day after all! v(⌒o⌒)v♪
angel: oh, that reminds me, i have a present for you! O(≧▽≦)O
angel: to be honest, i don't know much about you, so i just picked it based on what allen-chan has told me. (╯︵╰,)
angel: here, open it! ヾ(^∇^)
jay: ".. i'm gonna be honest, i'm a little scared."
jay: ".. hm?"
jay: oh, it's a book.
jay: let me see..
jay: .. wait a second.
jay: .. i-it has another book inside of it??
jay: and it has a third book inside too..
jay: just how many-
angel: it has only seven of them, sadly. (。-_-。) i really wanted your gift to be special and i know that reading is one of your main hobbies, but i felt like just getting one book for you isn't enough..
angel: i was told that this book will have at least ten more books inside of it! (ಠ ∩ಠ) what do you mean it has only seven??
jay: all of them look very interesting though.
jay: thank you, ash- um, angel-senpai. i appreciate it.
angel: .. you like it? you really mean it?
jay: yes.
angel: ...
angel: .. i'm so happy!! ヽ(´▽`)ノ
angel: thank you so much, jay-chan! i was so worried that you won't like it.. o(╥﹏╥)o
jay: haha, it's okay, it's okay.
jay: ".. is it true? were they really worried about such a thing?"
jay: "i just can't figure them out at all."
[ part 2 ]
angel: okay, it's time for the birthday interview! ┗(^0^)┓
angel: here's the first question! ヾ(*´∇`)ノ
angel: "if you could choose one person from the royal sword academy as a sibling, who would it be?" └(★o★)┐
angel: it can't be someone from your dorm though! (◡︿◡)
jay: a sibling?..
angel: oh, oh, i bet you're gonna choose allen-chan! (σ≧▽≦)σ you two are very close after all~ (人´∀`)
jay: um, well..
jay: to be honest, when we first met, i saw him as someone completely different.. like, totally not a sibling figure..
angel: eh? what does that mean? (*°ヮ° *)
jay: n-never mind.
jay: hm.. yes, i think i know who i would choose.
angel: ohhh?? (•⊙ω⊙•) so excited!! ☆(◒‿◒)☆
jay: i think it would be roland-senpai. you know, the gardening club leader.
angel: !! really?? (⊙︿⊙)
angel: ah, it's probably because of his big brother figure vibes! ╰(◡‿◡✿╰)
jay: haha, i guess you can say so.
jay: but the thing is.. roland-senpai really is someone i can fully trust. i admire him a lot.
angel: oh?? ◉‿◉ i wonder why.. (◠‿◠✿)
jay: well, you see.. roland-senpai has not the best reputation, i agree.
jay: but he tries his best to become a better person. and even if he still has his moments of weakness, he never gives up.
jay: i don't know what he did and what kind of person he was in the past, but.. i can try to guess.
jay: and i respect him a lot for still trying to make friends and being nice to everyone even though almost all rsa students either hate him, think he's scary or just ignore him.
angel: .. oh no, now i feel bad for roland-chan.. o(;△;)o
angel: i didn't know that people hate him?? ಥ_ಥ why would they be so cruel to him?? he's such a nice and kind person!!
angel: i wish i knew about it.. i want him to feel safer here. (╯︵╰,) i heard that he used to go to nrc before transferring here. now that i think about it, it does make sense why so many rsa students dislike him..
angel: it doesn't mean that they should hate him though! they should be nicer to him! ( ⇀ ‸ ↼ )
jay: and also.. even though i said that i don't see allen-senpai as a sibling figure, i still admire him too.
jay: p-please don't tell him that though. he won't stop mentioning it all the time if he finds out.
angel: really?? how cute!! so you two really are close! ( ≧◡≦ )
jay: i just admire him for not trying to be like the other rsa students, that's all.
angel: .. huh? what do you mean by that, jay-chan? (。・_・。)
jay: allen-senpai is weird. he's really weird, he's scary, he never thinks before doing something and he gets a new crush like every week.
jay: .. but that's what makes him unique. he doesn't try to be like other rsa students, who act like stuck up royals and pretend to be better than they actually are.
jay: he just doesn't know that his flaws are.. well, flaws. he thinks it's normal to act like that. most of the time he's not doing it on purpose or with bad intentions. he just does what he thinks is right.
jay: .. b-but i would still never want an older brother like that.
angel: haha, and here i was hoping that you will say something like "even though i don't show it, i care about him a lot"!(^v^)
angel: but it's okay. i can see that you like allen-chan more than you think you do. ≖‿≖
jay: h-hey-
angel: oh, are you friends with any nrc students, by the way? (*´・v・) you do come there often after all.
jay: "most of the time i come to nrc only to tell allen-senpai to come back to rsa.."
jay: hm.. i guess so? there's this one student from savanaclaw who i didn't expect to become close with, but he's surprisingly nice even though he looks kinda scary, haha.
jay: .. there's also this one person who i also saw as my sibling figure. he was like a twin to me, to be honest.
jay: i'm not sure if i still want to be associated with him though.
angel: wait, what?? ( °□° ) what does that mean, jay-chan?? please, i need answers-
jay: next question, please.
[ part 3 ]
angel: o-okay.. ahem, if you were to join any dorm other than ujasiri, which dorm would you choose?
jay: .. i don't know.
angel: huh? really? come on, i think you would be perfect for, like, any dorm in this school, jay-chan! (人´∀`*)
angel: you're basically like a prince after all-
jay: hey, angel-senpai, am i really that popular?
jay: i don't have that many friends here, so..
angel: hm.. i heard many people say that they think you're like a perfect rsa student to them! (^▽^)
angel: sure, maybe you can be a bit awkward sometimes and you need to be more confident, but you're smart, polite and very pretty! your unique magic is so fun too! ヽ(´▽`)ノ
jay: .. interesting.
angel: sooooo, which dorm would you go with? (°⌣°) oh, may i suggest spec-
jay: no.
jay: "i've already heard enough from blythe-senpai.."
jay: "just say something already. i want them to leave me alone."
jay: ".. but i want to give an honest answer too.."
jay: um.. enaskota, maybe?
angel: ohhh, makes sense! since you're the smart and curious type and all. (✿◠‿◠)
angel: but sometimes i'm surprised to see just how much you actually don't know about this world. seriously, you look like a lost child sometimes, haha. ヾ(^∇^)
jay: .. haha, yeah, i do have those moments sometimes.
jay: "okay, that's it, i can't stay with this person in the same room. say what you want about allen-senpai, but i'd rather run to him right now."
jay: u-um, angel-senpai, don't you think it's time for the "gift of good fortune"?
jay: or do you have more questions for me?
jay: "i sure hope you don't."
angel: nope, i've only got two of them! (。´∀`)ノ
jay: "what kind of interview is that??"
angel: okay, are you ready then, jay-chan? (。◝‿◜。)
jay: i am. thank you for being my presenter, angel-senpai.
jay: "please, just throw it at me already and let me go!.."
angel: ehehe, okay!~ (σ≧▽≦)σ
angel: happy birthday, jay-chan! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

Self isolating: A guide for the bewildered.
Tumblr media
It seems that we’re now at that awful point where we’re having to balance utter panic with pragmatism: not to take the Corona outbreak so seriously that we oscillate between being immobilised and panic buying, but yet also to be pragmatic about what we can do. To crack on with a real and difficult situation, where the stakes are potentially very high for us and those we love, and even for those we don’t love so much.
Self isolating scares me. The cut off from productivity and agency I think are my two biggest fears. Of course there’s being cut off from people, but for me I know that I worry more about the dependency that self-isolation conversely requires, especially in a new city.
For me, it’s hard not to wrestle with all these ideas in light of ME. Lately I’ve been feeling like an 83 year old in a 33 year old’s body. Viruses are scary for the already chronically ill, because they represent a great shove down the mountain we’ve been working so hard at dragging ourselves up for years. And yet, as I wrestle, as I start talking to friends who are already self-isolating, it strikes me that I may also have some tools stored up for times such as these. I am, in fact, an expert at being housebound. This should go on my CV.
So here, is some public service blogging. Some tips for those who are novice at being ill and endlessly in the company of one.
Tip 1: Embrace it, don’t fight it.
You get to choose your attitude. There is a lot to resist or fear, and yet this will not change the situation, nor will it make any self isolation go quicker.  So much of solitude and illness is a mental battle alongside a physical one, and so in grace and zen-like peaceability welcome this time with kindness. See what you might learn from it. Accept the unwanted gift of slowing down. Recognise that is will be tough, but know that it might also be rich.
Tip 2: Podcasts and audiobooks.
Sometimes our minds are just too busy fighting their anxious battles to get them to be reasonable. In these times, and in times that I’ve found myself too poorly to watch TV or read, a gentle listen to something provides enough distraction for your busy tired brain whilst still allowing you to be horizontal with closed eyes.
My recommendations? Audiobooks-wise, I’ve loved listening to some classic literature that would take me a lot longer to get around to reading otherwise: the rather apt ‘100 Years of Solitude’ and ‘Love in a Time of Cholera’ by Gabriel Garcia Marquez have been highlights! More contemporary novels I’ve enjoyed lately are Ann Patchett’s ‘The Dutch House’ (read by Tom Hanks), Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s ‘Fleishman is in Trouble’, or good non-fiction by David Sedaris or Michelle Obama’s ‘Becoming’ which are all the more brilliant for being read by the authors themselves.
My podcasts recommendations are thus:
Everyone, start with the ‘Fortunately’ podcast with Fi Glover and Jane Garvey. Two brilliant friends having meandering and intellectually subversive conversation. It will be a good substitute for going for a coffee with your own besties.
For those who are especially anxious: listen to the Robcast (Rob Bell’s podcast). He will refocus you on things above and draw you closer to God. I binge listen to this in my own times of illness and crisis, and never get left in that same place by the end of a podcast. Similarly with Krista Tippett’s ‘On Being’ podcast, which not about overtly Christian spirituality for those who prefer that! (Though many Christians may claim that about Rob Bell).
Elizabeth Day’s ‘How to Fail’ for some gentle wisdom, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ with Ed Miliband and Geoff Lloyd for some positive political commentary, ‘Literary Fiction’ for book lovers, and ‘The Guilty Feminist’ for feminism with a good range of comedic voices.  Also worth listening to Dolly Alderton’s ‘Love Stories’ podcast which isn’t current, but has the most beautiful back catalogue of interviews about love.
For foodies: ‘Out to Lunch’ with Jay Rayner, ‘The Kitchen Cabinet’ and the ‘Off Menu’ podcast with Ed Gamble James Acaster (the Victoria Coren-Mitchell episode is one of my most re-listened to).
For those with an ‘offbeat’ sense of humour I liberally recommend the ‘Beef and Dairy Network Podcast’ and suggest that you start with episodes that feature the Beef Poet Laureate, Michael Banyan.
Also, binge watching TV helps, but in my experience it is good to make sure you have time away from screens. It somehow lifts you to look away a bit.
Tip 3: TREATS
Surround yourself with gentle things that make you smile. For me? Lovely moisturisers, great smelling candles, poached eggs on toast, clean bedsheets, animals on the internet, good pyjamas, beautiful mugs, chocolate Brazil nuts, and overflowing bowls of satsumas.
Tip 4: This too shall pass.
When you’re ill and isolated, you can lose all sense of time and perspective. There will be times when everything feels endlessly awful. In these times, remind yourself that this too will pass. This isn’t forever, summer is coming, and at some point Corona virus will feel as historic as swine flu. And hopefully that will fortify you.
The spiritual stuff:
Finally a word from wisdom in the Christian tradition. Feel free to stop reading. here, if this isn’t for you.
I am learning, slowly, and at times reluctantly, that the greatest gift throughout suffering is to worship. I think of Paul and Silas, unfairly imprisoned and worshiping in their cell, not knowing when or if they will be released from the futility and fear of it all. As they worship, the walls come down, and yet the stay where they are for the sake of the safety of their prison guard. It turns out that even though they were imprisoned, they were truly free with or without the walls.
Or as Anne Lamott puts it: “Look up! My pastor says you can trap bees on floor of jars without lids because they don't look up. They just walk around  and bump into glass. So look up. We're free”
I do not share this tritely, though there will have been times where people who dared tell me to worship in my greatest suffering would have been at huge risk of thumping (had I the strength). Worship refocuses our whole selves on where it is we put our hope, and that changes everything.

UK Christmas TV 2020: Your Guide to This Year’s Festive Specials
https://ift.tt/370S3Dq
If you’re the kind of person who tuts at pre-December Christmas trees and moans about supermarkets simultaneously stocking mince pies and Halloween goodies (don’t cross the streams!) then look away now, there’s nothing for you here.
If, however, you’re the sort of person who’s gasping for end-of-year cheer like it’s the last bottle of Evian in a hot, empty desert, then step this way. We’ve collected up all the festive TV specials airing in the UK over Christmas 2020, so you can start mentally circling the ones in your personal schedule.
It being early, there are still announcements to be made, so check back here for updates. Ditto for official air dates and times, which are thin on the ground until the channels lock in their schedules. We’ll pop back and add those in as they’re confirmed.
Starting with our top five picks, here’s a list of everything on the way…
TOP FIVE PICKS
1. Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks
Companions Yaz, Graham and Ryan stumble upon a Dalek threat on Earth while the Doctor’s far away and locked up in space prison. How do you fight the Daleks without the Doctor? With the help of an old friend… Festive special ‘Revolution of the Daleks’ is written by Chris Chibnall and directed by ‘Spyfall Part 2’ director Lee Haven Jones.
Air date: TBC
2. Ghosts: Christmas Special
The Ghosts Christmas special is so good, there should be a new one every year. It’s Christmas in Button House and Mike is determined to give his visiting family the perfect Christmas, if they’ll let him. And if his other family – the houseful of historical ghosts only wife Alison can see and hear – behave. 1990s MP Julian is the Ebenezer Scrooge in need of a lesson on the true meaning of Christmas in this terrific family comedy.
Air date: TBC
3. Taskmaster: Christmas Special
We don’t yet know the identities of the five contestants competing in the very first Taskmaster festive special, but we know that they are all brand new to the 10-series comedy, and have been described as “experts in their respective fields”… Fingers crossed for Christmas-themed tasks.
Air date: TBC
4. His Dark Materials Season 2 Finale: Æsahættr
Technically, there’s nothing festive about His Dark Materials (unless the BBC/HBO adaptation takes a serious diversion from Philip Pullman’s books and throws in a few elves) but there’s something very childhood-bedtime and therefore quite Christmassy about this beautiful series. It ended strong in season one, and keeps getting better in season two. This finale is due to bring The Subtle Knife to a close, making way for the final part of the trilogy in the as-yet-unconfirmed (but come on, it’s happening) third season.
Air date: Sunday 20th December, 8.10pm, BBC One
5. Roald & Beatrix, the Tail of the Curious Mouse
From the producers of Sherlock and Dracula, this festive family comedy-drama promises to be something quite special. It reimagines the real-life meeting of two of the UK’s biggest names in children’s literature: Beatrix Potter (played by Dawn French) and Roald Dahl, back when Potter was a recluse and Dahl was a child. Expect puppetry, animation, a host of guest stars and voices, and lots of snow, from Inside No. 9 director David Kerr.
Air date: TBC
COMEDY
Motherland Christmas Special
Top BBC Two parenting sitcom Motherhood returns for a festive special ahead of its third series coming next year. You are cordially invited to Amanda’s annual seasonal soiree… Anna Maxwell-Martin, Diane Morgan, Lucy Punch and Paul Ready star.
Air date: TBC
Upstart Crow: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow: a Lockdown Christmas 1603
The stage version of Shakespeare sitcom Upstart Crow fell foul of Covid-19 earlier this year, but that hasn’t stopped the team putting together this festive lockdown two-hander special, set in London during the plague, and starring David Mitchell and Gemma Whelan as Shakespeare and Kate.
Air date: TBC
Not Going Out Christmas Special
Lee Mack’s long-running BBC One sitcom is back for another Christmas instalment, filmed under Covid-safe conditions this August. Expect a dedication to dearly departed cast member Bobby Ball.
Air date: TBC
Pandemonium
Katherine Parkinson and Alison Steadman star in this one-off BBC comedy about a family forced to cancel their dream holiday to California, who end up in Margate over the Christmas season.
Air date: TBC
Vicar of Dibley in Lockdown
Dawn French and James Fleet reprise the characters of Geraldine and Hugo in three 10-minute lockdown additions to The Vicar of Dibley canon, airing on BBC One after repeats of the original series (and then repeated later in one half-hour clump).
Air date: starts 7th December, BBC One.

Air date: TBC
Quentin Blake’s Clown
Here’s another lovely half-hour of quiet time with the kids from Channel 4, from the same people who made previous years’ animations of children’s classics The Tiger Who Came To Tea and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. It’s the story of a discarded clown toy who comes to life and goes on an adventure to find a new home for him and his toy pals. Helena Bonham Carter narrates.

Yumeko skips up to Jay, her hands behind her back. "Happy birth-day, Jay-Kun! I gotch'a a gift!" She holds out her hands, "It's a new pen! Isn't it just cracker?" (Cracker is irish slang for great. I decided Yumeko has an "irish" accent just bc.)
(congrats on the irishification, yume👍)
jay turns around. he didn't expect yumeko to come and wish him a happy birthday, but it's not like he's against it. all of this attention he got today from the other students just surprised him a little bit.
"ah, t-thank you, yumeko-san."
he can't deny that he's curious to see what she got for him and when he sees it, he tries hard to hide his smile. it's a useful gift, he appreciates it.
the word they use to describe the pen does.. confuse him a little, but he tries not to show it. maybe it's best not to ask too many questions. it probably wouldn't be polite to ask her anyway. he carefully takes the pen and gets a closer look on it.
"again, thank you. you know me well, i'll make sure to use it often."

Day With(out) Art, the program
Tumblr media
Amoqa is proud to partner with Visual AIDS for the thirtieth annual Day With(out) Art by presenting STILL BEGINNING, a program of seven newly commissioned videos responding to the ongoing HIV/AIDS epidemic by Shanti Avirgan, Nguyen Tan Hoang, Carl George, Viva Ruiz, Iman Shervington, Jack Waters/Victor F.M. Torres, and Derrick Woods-Morrow.
Shanti Avirgan, Beat Goes On
Beat Goes On is an impressionistic portrait of the activist Keith Cylar (1958–2004), co-founder of Housing Works and a central figure in the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power (ACT UP) NY. Cylar spoke clearly, frequently and with moral force about the struggles of people living with HIV/AIDS in New York City, many of whom were impoverished and struggling with multiple social and medical problems. His openness about his own drug use and the centrality of the fight against the criminalization of drugs for AIDS activism make Cylar's legacy especially resonant and relevant at this time. A fellow harm reduction activist recalls how "Keith moved from mixing with the government, to threatening the government, to beating the government—all in the space of five minutes." By resurfacing and weaving together archival media of Cylar's own words and actions, this video will endeavor to convey—in the space of about five minutes—some of the personal charisma, political savvy and fearlessness that characterized Cylar's advocacy.
Bio: Shanti Avirgan is a documentary producer and archival researcher. Her work related to the AIDS crisis includes the feature documentaries Pills Profits Protest (2004); Sex in an Epidemic (2009); Larry Kramer in Love & Anger (2015); 5B (2019) and a forthcoming film about the photographer Peter Hujar. She has worked with a number of organizations in Brazil and the US to create, archive and curate video about ongoing HIV/AIDS activism. Shanti has also worked as a producer for National Geographic's climate change TV series Years of Living Dangerously, and the feature documentaries The Yes Men Are Revolting (2014), Life, Animated (2016) and Agility (2020), about the anthropologist Esther Newton. She holds a BA in Latin American Studies and Anthropology from UT Austin, was a Fulbright Scholar in Brazil at the Federal University of Bahia, and has an MPhil in Anthropology from NYU, where she studied medical anthropology and documentary filmmaking.

Carl George, The Lie
The Lie is the latest in an ongoing series of short films drawing on found footage and materials from the artist’s archive. Offering “ruminations on ruined nations,” the film aims to expose the links between war, AIDS, capitalism, and the persistent mythologies that bind them all.
Bio: Carl George is an artist and activist working in experimental film, painting and collage. His short experimental films have shown in festivals internationally and are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, the Guggenheim Museum and the New York Public Library. His 1989 film DHPG Mon Amour, documenting the radical advances made by people with AIDS in developing their own health care, is a classic of AIDS activist filmmaking and was incorporated into the Oscar-nominated documentary How to Survive a Plague (2012). His visual art can be seen on the Visual AIDS Artist Registry.

Nguyen Tan Hoang, I Remember Dancing
I Remember Dancing brings together an intergenerational cast of trans and queer gaysians ruminating on the past and future of AIDS, activism, gay culture, love, and (un)safe sex. Inspired by Joe Brainard’s I Remember poems, these confessions illuminate perspectives of queer Asian communities often absent from whitewashed narratives of HIV and AIDS. Grief, regret, longing, risk, and pleasure surface as their memories and fantasies blur into one another.
Bio: Nguyen Tan Hoang is a videomaker and film and media scholar. His short experimental videos include K.I.P, Forever Bottom!, PIRATED! and look_im_azn. He is the author of A View from the Bottom: Asian American Masculinity and Sexual Representation (Duke UP, 2014) and articles on porn pedagogy and Southeast Asian queer cinema. He teaches literature, film, and cultural studies at UC San Diego.

Viva Ruiz, Chloe Dzubilo: There is a Transolution
Viva Ruiz invites transgender AIDS activist, artist, and beloved friend Chloe Dzubilo (1960–2011) to speak via never before seen Hi-8 footage filmed by Chloe's then-partner Kelly McGowan. The process triangulates mother (Chloe), lover (Kelly), and child (Viva) in a deliberate ritual to uplift the spirit and legacy of an ancestral teacher. Through artifacts from the moment when video first became accessible and before mobile phone cameras became ubiquitous, we witness Chloe declare herself and her sisters as leaders in art, advocacy and culture for evermore.
Bio: Viva Ruiz is the daughter of Ecuadorian immigrants and a community and nightlife-educated advocate and artist born and based in New York City. The throughline of her work across mediums is a passion to dismantle white supremacy and exorcise the colonial/colonized mindset. In 2017, she programmed sex education and practical spirituality workshops as an invited curator for the New Museum’s "Scamming the Patriarchy" youth summit. Her 2019 solo exhibition “ProAbortion Shakira: A Thank God For Abortion Introspective” at PARTICIPANT, INC included work related to the multimedia abortion de-stigmatization experiment THANK GOD FOR ABORTION.

Iman Shervington, I’m Still Me
I'm Still Me explores how digital platforms have created community and connections for Sian, a Black woman living with HIV and navigating the stigma and misinformation that is prevalent in the American South. Through her blog, social media accounts and online video platforms, Sian connects with (predominately) heterosexual Black women that send her messages, ask questions, and share their experiences with stigma and fear, all the while creating community that may have previously only existed in the shadows.
Bio: Iman Shervington is the Director of Media & Communications at the Institute of Women & Ethnic Studies (IWES), a public health non-profit. Through IWES, Iman has utilized her script development, cinematography, directing, producing, and editing skills to create over 50 short films and PSAs, a web-series, a feature-length documentary, two feature-length narrative films and an award-winning podcast. In 2016, Iman was chosen as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader to promote a culture of health in New Orleans and she received the award as a "Changemaker" in the New Orleans-based Millennial Awards. Outside of film, Iman specializes in social marketing, social media management, graphic design, photography, positive youth development, participatory action research, and media literacy.

Jack Waters/Victor F.M. Torres, (eye, virus)
Through an experimental collage of video and pictographs, (eye, virus) explores how conversations around disclosure, stigma, and harm reduction shift across generations and from public to private realms. Combining street interviews with footage from a punk show and a mobile testing site, the video centers pleasure and community as it expands the conversation around HIV to include hepatitis C and the opioid epidemic. (eye, virus) extends from documentation of a 2017 public program titled AIDS OS Y Version 10.11.6, and is collaboratively produced with Nikki Sweet.
Bio: Jack Waters is a visual artist, film maker, writer, media artist, choreographer and performer. Jack’s work has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, the New Museum, the New York and London Film Makers Cooperatives, Center for Contemporary Culture Barcelona, and Anthology Film Archives. With his partner Peter Cramer, Jack co-directed ABC No Rio from 1983–1991 and founded the non-profit arts umbrella Allied Productions, Inc., as well as the community art garden Le Petit Versailles. The first part of Jack’s musical opus Pestilence will premiere at LaMaMa Experimental Theater Club in Spring 2020. His visual art can be seen on the Visual AIDS Artist Registry.
Victor F. M. Torres is an intermedia artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Torres holds an MFA in Intermedia and Digital Arts and a BA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology, both from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He is an Adjunct Faculty at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. Torres has taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Stevenson University, George Mason University, and UMBC. He is the author of Language Writes Myth Writes Reality: Or How Does the Acculturated Body Take the Role of Culture Maker?. Torres’ sculptural work snapshots the relationship between information retention, capacitive touch, and bronze age aesthetics, thinning the threshold between primitivism and futurism. His work has been shown at the Museum of Modern Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, Monmouth Museum, MIX NYC, Maryland Art Place, and Grace Exhibition Space, among others.

Derrick Woods-Morrow, Much handled things are always soft (8:36)
Much handled things are always soft unearths the unwritten and undocumented histories of public sex culture in the south-side of Chicago. Through conversation with longterm survivor Patric McCoy, the film traces the height of activity in the 1970s, the downfall of cruising culture in the 1980s, and the prevailing summer heat, which continues to linger. Together, McCoy and Woods-Morrow reflect on their relationship to cruising, to photography, and to each other; attempting to bridge the gap between what was, and what still remains to be explored.
Bio: Derrick Woods-Morrow’s work is a meditation on deviation and disruption. Currently based in Chicago, his artistic practice deploys a wide variety of media, including photographic transfers, digital video collage, ceramics, and narrative performance. Exploring modes of representation, he salvages, displaces, and removes raw material from sites of historical significance and trauma, reimagines their future purpose and denies their perceived function, while actively interrogating the correlation between labor and play. A recipient of the 2018 Artadia Award, Derrick received his MFA in Photography from the School of Art Institute of Chicago in 2016, and was most recently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Photography and Teaching Artist at the University of Illinois Chicago. Read-A-Likes for Anime Lovers (Part 1)
My Hero Academia follows a teenager as he gains powers in a Shōnen anime. When superpowers are everywhere, so are superheroes and supervillains. Growing up without powers, he has obsessively studied the strengths and weaknesses of anyone he encounters with powers. By chance, he encounters his hero and goes through the process of learning how to use his gifted power in a super-school environment.
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson also involves a world where many people have superpowers, unfortunately, they are all supervillains. Our main character is powerless and would like to stay that way. He has obsessively collected information on all supervillains after his father was killed by stealheart, the supervillain and dystopian leader of Newcago. Soon, he joins up with resistance group who want to take down the supers. It’s My Hero Academia if the League of Villians ruled the world with a small group of geeky quirk-less rebels trying to stop them.
Sword Art Online is a Shōnen anime where a teen gamer is one of the many people to get stuck in a VR game. If you die in the game, you die in real life as well. In this world, groups filled with magic and sword fighting aim to clear levels and challenges so they can all be free.
Arena by Holly Jennings follows a VR sports legend as she looks to find a balance between the virtual world and the real one. Fighting in teams, players battle to the death in a VR game for public consumption. The catch is anything they can do in the real world, they can also do in the virtual one. Rigorous team training paired with the hard party lifestyle lead to short careers for many players. Instead, she aims to survive and thrive in the industry with her team behind her as one the first female team leader in the game’s history.
Soul Eater, a Shōnen (wow I swear this isn’t on purpose) anime explores the world of death. Or at least what happens when you die. One human weapon and one weapon meister come together to reap souls. The main characters are going to school to become certified in their field, learning how to work in the world and with each other in the process.
Croak by Gina Damico follows one rage-filled teenage girl who comes to learn that she is a Grimm Reaper. When she is carted to a town of others with her profession, her anger lessens and her powers appear. Reapers work in teams of two, one reaps the soul and another contains the soul so they can be carted to the afterlife. The light tone and macabre idea go hand in hand with Soul Eater.
Psycho Pass is a crime-thriller that continues this Shōnen trend with a dystopian society and a government of thought police. From the perspective of an investigator new to the force, this system is explored and pushed to its fullest extent.
1984 by George Orwell its impossible not to recognize the origin of thought police in literature. The dystopian novel explores a future where the government decides the emotions that someone should have and express, the history that someone should remember and promote, and the role someone should perform in society. While the book comes from the perspective of a citizen rather than an enforcer, you would be hardpressed to find a more relevant read.
Kill La Kill *wipes forehead* is a Seinen anime where battles are used in a school setting as a way of granting prestige and strength. The main character wants to find her father’s killer as she collects life fibers used to improve her own battle gear.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff follows one young girl on her bloody path to revenge. After her family is killed, she is able to control the shadows of herself and others. The fearlessness she is granted helps her in her classes as she becomes a part of an assassination group. The battles, magic, and overarching terror should carry any lover of fantasy right to the bookstore.

Social hierarchy within The Great Gatsby: Who is the true Alpha?
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of the most well known works of American Literature, its themes including capitalism, social class, idealism and the American Dream. A special emphasis is made on status and the structure in class that determine the lives of the people living in the 1920s, the novel’s characters being very much out of control in terms of how they rank within society and how that effects them as people. While this social hierarchy is one of the determining features of the characters, it is not the one that will be addressed in this blessay, since there is a different hierarchy in which to place these characters, which will give a better insight into what type of people they really are. It is the roles we often see animals take when living in groups that have to do with how high they rank in their society, the most well known being Alpha, Beta and Omega, while the other, less known are Sigma, Delta, Gamma and Lambda. This blessay will be going over the four most prominent characters found in The Great Gatsby to determine which title applies to them. This way, it is possible to find out the true agency these characters have by looking how dominant, submissive or distant they really are, not only getting a better insight into who they are as people, but also the drive of their actions that push the story forward. So, what is the underlying social hierarchy of the characters of Nick Carraway, Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan and Tom Buchanan from The Great Gatsby?
We will start with the two most major characters of the novel: Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby. Nick is the narrator of the story who moves from the American country side to a rich neighbourhood on the west coast and becomes friends with his neighbour, Jay Gatsby, after being invited to one of his lavish parties. In order to find out what type Nick is, we have to look at what personality traits he displays and since he is the narrator, this should not be too hard. However, while reading this novel, the reader will already quickly notice that Nick has very little agency and doesn’t voice his opinion on what he sees very often, he just tells it. A good example of this is when his cousin, Daisy’s, husband enthusiastically tells him he wants him to meet his lover, Myrtle. Nick does not seem to question or judge this and goes along with it. Even when a while later he sees Tom hitting Myrtle, he just comments on how the women around the scene are acting hysterical about it and then casually leaves. The only times he seems genuinely invested in whatever is around him is when he is with Jay Gatsby, the first time meeting him also being the first time Nick expresses any kind of emotion. From that moment on, Nick begins to follow Gatsby around, describing him as something great and wonderful. So, looking at this type of behaviour, we can conclude that Nick is not an Alpha, like his social status would suggest, because he doesn’t display any sense of dominance over a situation, does not try to take the lead or attract attention to himself and is happy enough to follow someone around who he deems worthy of praise. This makes him either a Beta or a Delta, which are both types whose main agency is to live a quiet, peaceful life with as little risk as possible and are perfectly content with following someone else. In fact, that is what they prefer. The main difference between Beta and Delta is that Betas will still strive to have a good life, develop their individual talents and obtain what they feel is best for them, while Deltas are too passive to do so and will not try to move above themselves in any way, preferring to stay where they are and settle for that. Taking these characteristics into account, Nick would have to be classified as a Beta, since he is too passive to draw any real attention to himself, but he starts to put effort in his relationship with Gatsby when he begins to care for him as a friend. Jay Gatsby himself was once the poor son of a farming family who, ever since he was a boy, believed he could become someone great and wealthy if he worked hard enough for it, just like the American Dream says. During his life, he made various attempts at getting rich, even changing his name from James Gatz to Jay Gatsby, and eventually succeeding, even though he had to do it through illegal dealings with gangsters. This already shows ambition and a drive to succeed, which means he is actively trying to make his life better and have an existence that is more worthy of esteem than just working at a farm. A good example of this is when he dropped out of St. Olaf College, because he hated supporting himself as a janitor. This ambition and sense of self-worth can be characterized as two types: Alpha or Sigma. Alphas are the ‘leaders of society’, meaning the ones with the best attributes to take charge, the most charisma, confidence and ambition to be at the highest possible position they can be. Because of this, they get extremely frustrated when they feel stuck in an environment they deem too low for themselves and are generally the most aggressive in getting what they want. Sigmas share a lot of these attributes, the main difference between them and Alphas being that Sigmas are considered the ‘lone wolves’ of society. They aren’t engaged in the ‘game’ of the social hierarchy. In fact, they distance themselves from social standings and status all together, due to a lack of interest and dependence on it. However, because they also possess natural charisma and confidence, allowing them to survive even on their own, they still naturally attract other people towards them who are intrigued by their independent, self-sufficient nature. This way they are similar to Alphas, but still with no ties to the official hierarchy. So, when looking at which one of these types Gatsby is, we must look beyond his charisma, confidence and ambition and instead focus his reasoning. At first, he believes that becoming a wealthier man will give him a better life, which becomes his initial drive to succeed, but then this drive becomes even stronger once he decides he wants to become a successful, rich man in order to win over Daisy, the woman he’s in love with. He does this, because he is convinced that once he will be of the same standing as her, she will leave her husband for him. The focus here is on gaining status and making that the point of his life, which is typically not a Sigma trait, since their climb to higher standing tends to happen naturally, without much effort. However, since Gatsby’s whole life is being dedicated to rising above his original station, even going as far as using illegal methods, his classification is that of an Alpha.
Now we will look at the two second most major characters in the novel: Tom and Daisy Buchanan. Daisy Buchanan née Fay is Nick Carraway’s cousin, as well as Jay Gatsby’s love interest. She was born into a rich family and has lived amongst the higher class her whole life. When she met Gatsby, he had enlisted in the military to fight in WW1 and she promised to wait for him until he got back from duty. However, she later send him a letter, telling him she had married Tom Buchanan for his money. She did this to have security, instead of an unsure future with Gatsby where she possibly would have had little money or would have risked being disinherited. Once she reunites with Gatsby years later, it is clear her marriage to Tom is not a happy one, since he is unfaithful to her and in her unhappiness, she even starts giving little attention to their daughter. However, once she finds out that Gatsby is also rich, she sees more of a future with him and starts displaying more rebellious behaviour towards her husband. Her decisions in life, especially regarding her partners, are based on the guarantee of stability, which already brings one of the types to the foreground: Delta. In actuality, Betas also like security and stability, but they will still take minor risks if there is a better chance at happiness, while Deltas will most likely settle on what is second-best in order to keep the peace in their environment. The best example to show that Daisy is the latter is her final decision of still staying in an unhappy marriage with Tom as to avoid a scandal, instead of seeking a more potential happiness with Gatsby, solidifying her as a Delta. Tom Buchanan, Daisy’s husband and Gatsby’s love rival, is a wealthy man who, like Daisy, has lived his entire life in luxury and privilege. However, despite being married to Daisy and having a child with her, he also has a lover named Myrtle, who is the wife of a poor mechanic. This is something he is not very discreet about, since he tells Nick he would like him to meet her and starts kissing her in front of him while her husband is gone. He also shows Nick all of his trophies he won during his university days, which he keeps displayed around the house. Much like Daisy, it is much more clear what type Tom is, since his display of confidence, pride and sense of superiority paint the obvious picture of an Alpha to an almost stereotypical extent. Not only does Tom display the major characteristics of an Alpha, but he also displays a shameless attitude when it comes to pursuing women with his extramarital affairs, something that has been indicative of Alphas in terms of looking for potential mates.
In summation, the four major characters in The Great Gatsby are a male Beta, a female Delta and two male Alphas. Since Betas and Deltas are both too passive to truly drive anything forward, usually becoming followers or commenters on what is happening around them, it is the Alphas with their action taking personalities who really cause things to happen. Gatsby and Tom are no exception, since it is their actions that lead to proceedings of the plot. If Gatsby had been more passive, he would not have pursued a rich man’s life so zealously and he wouldn’t be so set on winning back Daisy, meaning the conflict between him and Tom would not have taken place. Likewise, if Tom would not be so overconfident, he would not have taken his extramarital affairs so lightly and have more consideration for his wife, which could have led to a much happier married life. His affair with Myrtle would have had a chance of not existing at all, leaving out her husband’s anger when he found out, which led to Myrtle running out into the streets and being run over by Daisy driving Gatsby’s car. Her husband, Wilson, would then not have had a reason to shoot Gatsby and then himself, believing it was him driving the car. In conclusion, the Gatsby’s and Tom’s classification as Alphas shows they are the true leaders and deciders of what happens in the novel through their actions, while Nick’s and Daisy’s classifications as a Beta and a Delta respectively makes them followers and side players in the story.

my ocs' third year/graduated versions!
okay, so i made a post like that with avery, vance, merrill and allen some time ago, but as you know, I HAVE A LOT OF KIDS NOW and i wanted to make a new version of that post! also the way i see my first four characters have changed a little, so.. yeah.
i made them in picrew because even though i'd love to draw them myself, it would take quite a lot of time djdkkdd
avery glass.
Tumblr media
avery gets along better with "beautiful people" now and he's also more confident and doesn't think he's that ugly himself. his hair is longer now too. he also doesn't think vil is that bad and he even kinda misses him now, considering that vil is a fourth year now and avery doesn't see him that often. he's still friends with epel though and it's not so lonely with him around. he also created his own gardening club here back when he just transferred to nrc and it's more popular now and some people don't even care if avery was a rsa student in the past. he feels more comfortable in this school now and he actually doesn't regret transferring at all. maybe he really does have those "prince charming" vibes, like other rsa students, but he would rather be friends with villains because they (or at least most of them) accept him for who he is. but allen also suggested that avery can work as his gardener after he graduates.. avery is not so sure about it for now and told allen that it sounds stupid, but he secretly doesn't think that it's a bad idea.
vance mintberry.
Tumblr media
YES I AM GOING WITH THAT CONCEPT OF DORM LEADER!VANCE BECAUSE I LIKE IT. vance is not that chaotic and hyperactive as a third year and he's a lot more chill now and he even has his serious moments sometimes. he's definitely not as strict as riddle though and heartslabyul students are happy to have a dorm leader like him, who knows how to have fun, but also doesn't cause too much chaos. he says he doesn't like when other students refer to him as the dorm leader though and asks them to simply call him by his name instead. vance is also taller now (170 cm), however, when riley stands next to him, his growth spurt is not that noticeable and vance is a bit insecure about it dhdjdkdkfk. HE THOUGHT THEY WILL NEVER HAVE SUCH A HUGE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE! and even if they do vance wanted to be taller than riley he's still into gaming and skateboarding too and he even participated in magishift and some other sports competitions because he doesn't care what his family thinks anymore. some heartslabyul students say that vance secretly enjoys being the one in charge A LOT though..
merrill gardner.
Tumblr media
yes i forgot his moles. it's fine he can survive without them i say that as someone who has a lot of moles on their face YES. VIL MANAGED TO CONVINCE HIM TO BECOME A MODEL. LET'S GO. it took a lot of time, but merrill agreed because vil told him that he can't let his talent go to waste just because he's still mad at his parents. yes, they were absolutely horrible people and merrill didn't deserve to be treated like this, but there's nothing wrong with him enjoying being the center of attention and being popular for his appearance (as long as he's okay with it). and merrill certainly appreciates being complimented for his other qualities, but he actually enjoys modeling a lot! he also does it out of spite because oh, his parents wanted to use his looks for money and fame? well guess what, they're not gonna get any money from him <3 he still checks on other nrc students though because he cares about them and because they're always so excited to see him again/for the first time.
and no, even though he's a professional model now, he's still into cosplay because it really does make him happy!! also imagine his fans and megu-chan's fans finding out that their idol is the same person. how funny would that be.
allen snowhill.
Tumblr media
i think he would finally be free of lumi's magic's influence, so that's why he doesn't have white strands anymore! yes i have ideas how others would save him, but that's a story for a different post and he has long hair now!! he's thriving!! you can still often see him wearing rather warm clothes simply because he's too used to them and he would need a lot of time before he starts finding lighter clothes comfortable. his personality is also more similar to anna's now and even though he still shows his yandere self sometimes, he's more chill about it now. as long as someone loves him, he's gonna be fine <3 he's doing much better now, he's more supportive of lumi and miles' relationship and he also regrets the things he said to riley in the past, but he still doubts they'll be able to reconcile because riley himself doesn't want to do anything with him. he's okay as long as riley is happy though. he's also thinking of becoming a writer after he graduates.
roland thorn.
Tumblr media
roland would go back to briar valley after he graduates from rsa, he's sure his parents have missed him a lot. they are quite surprised to see how much he changed, but it's a pleasant kind of surprise. roland would start living alone and he would have a nice little house with a nice little garden next to it :) he's still not so good at gardening, but. um. he's trying his best. taking care of those plants also reminds him to be kinder to himself and he definitely needs that reminder though he still hates having to deal with dirt and that kind of stuff he's not sure what he's gonna do in the future, since he has such a low self-esteem, he doubts there's anything he's good at. so yeah, he would like to focus on taking care of himself and learning to love himself right now. but he's also thinking.. maybe he should get a job that's related to fashion in some way? you know, since he's good at stuff like sewing and knitting and he also can do makeup for others he never wears makeup himself though too. maybe he should talk about it with that ramshackle prefect, he knows a lot about those things. also lilia visits him as often as he can and they have nice conversations together as they drink tea :)
also, a design note: roland would go back to wearing darker clothes after he graduates from rsa and he also would have bangs on the other side to cover his injured eye, even though he still wears an eyepatch. it's not like he doesn't like his eyepatch anymore! he just feels more comfortable with a hairstyle like this, haha. (it's actually him trying to move on from his trauma and telling himself that he's not just "a guy who had a toxic relationship with his gf and got his eye injured because of her")
fake!jay polley.
Tumblr media
OH BOY. HE WOULD GET QUITE AN INTERESTING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THESE TWO YEARS. you see, being friends with allen didn't teach him anything good and jay ended up becoming a very self-centered individual who decided that if he's not real and he doesn't actually have a heart, oh well, he has to act heartless too. jay knows that he's smarter than his real counterpart, he knows he's much more talented than him and he knows that he owns real!jay's notebook, so.. he's the one who has his unique magic now. real!jay can't use it if he doesn't have his silly little notebook with him. so who's more real now, huh? and no, he's not his "evil clone", he's more interesting than jay, he's more popular than jay, he's actually his "better clone"! he's the literature club's president now too and he even has his own clique because rsa freshmen admire him that much! haha, his school life really is so fun, it's just like his creator wanted! and he wouldn't even be able to overblot no matter how often he uses his unique magic, because again, he's not real so he can't accumulate blot! he just becomes very tired after he uses his magic and he falls asleep right after he's done, so he will never overblot and that makes him the strongest magician in twisted wonderland! he will never overblot, right? right?.. he also may or may not become a yandere because of allen's influence. this guy is so used to getting what he wants because of his popularity and his unique magic, what do you mean his crush doesn't like him back?
real!jay polley.
Tumblr media
real!jay, on the other hand, finally gets a character development that he deserves! he's still a bit shy, but he's more confident now, he looks so much better, seth really helped him get a whole glow up! he also starts wearing the uniform seth made for him back when jay just started living in ramshackle but refused to wear because "it wasn't comfortable" he actually thought he doesn't deserve to wear it and people are surprised to see how good he looks in it. his hair is also longer but he takes better care of it and it's not as messy as it was before. he sounds more polite than before and he has a more elegant vibe now, some people can't believe he was this anxious and insecure boy who refused to go outside and didn't know what grass is. he takes care of the ramshackle dorm building when seth and minnie are too busy and he doesn't find it tiring at all, he's glad to be useful to them. he also had a chance to transfer to a "real" dorm at some point, however, he decided to stay in ramshackle because he's too used to it and he doesn't think he's good enough for other dorms. the dark mirror thought of sending him to diasomnia though he's not sure about his future, but he kinda wants to stay at nrc, so.. maybe he could work here as a staff member? he still needs some time to think about it. and no, jay doesn't know anything about what his clone is doing and he believes fake!jay is living his best life.
austin valiente.
Tumblr media
yes, he's wearing glasses now, because that's what happens when you spend so much time working with tiny details and staying up to come up with a new invention or fix someone's broken phone. if anyone makes fun of his new look, he will punch them. he also makes jokes about having to wear glasses instead of merrill since he's a fourth year now and people almost never see him it's him trying to cope he misses him okay. austin has thought about going back home, but.. he's not ready. he wants to stay in twisted wonderland for just a little bit longer. he misses his family a lot and he's sure they're very worried about him, but he's scared. he still doesn't know if he wants to get a technology-related job just like they wanted or he wants to do what he likes and try to do something more artistic. and he's also scared that they're gonna be mad at him and they're not gonna believe him when he tells them where he's been all this time. he really wishes he could talk to someone about his problems, but he rarely sees those people now and it doesn't feel right to talk about it on the phone. and about his personality, he's a bit calmer now. he still likes to bully others and laugh at them, but he knows when to stop and he's not that serious about it. some people even think he's more like merrill now, because sometimes him teasing them can make them go 😳😳. he doesn't understand why they react like that though.
minnie lynley.
Tumblr media
she's doing so much better now! she's much more friendly with male students now, though she can still be strict with them sometimes, but she's doing it because she cares about them :) she's very popular and she has so many simps, but sadly, they don't have a chance with her because she and sebek are officially dating! MALLEUS IS NO LONGER A NRC STUDENT SHE SAW THAT CHANCE AND SHE TOOK IT. HE CAN'T TAKE SEBEK AWAY FROM HER. her personality is a bit different too now, she's more of an onee-san type now. and yes, she can be that soft and caring onee-san AND the one that goes "ara ara~" and makes you go get a wedding ring because you're this down bad for her. she also became seth's vice prefect when she was a second year and she still is one, though she likes to joke about her being the real prefect. she doesn't mind being seth's sidekick though, she actually admires him a lot and she's grateful to him for helping her get used to this place and overcome her trust issues and daddy issues. she really wanted to go back home when she just got isekai-ed here, but now.. she's actually okay with staying in twisted wonderland? she doesn't miss anyone from her world except her mom and she really does worry about her a lot, but she's not sure if she wants to go back home just for her sake, because.. if she does, she's sure that she will end up doing all the work again and her brother won't try to help in any way. minnie loves her mom, she really does, but she's not ready to see her again.
hayden dahl.
Tumblr media
another character who changed his appearance in some way! hayden dyed his hair so that he won't look too similar to his family members and he actually feels much more comfortable with this hair color. riley's parents pretty much adopt him because they're so happy to see that riley has such a good friend, they don't care about hayden's past at all. so now he's living with them and riley even calls hayden his big brother and that makes hayden tear up a little bit every single time. he just.. he always wanted to have a little brother, he was so tired of being the youngest child.. and don't let that cool villain-like outfit fool you, he really doesn't try to act nice to make others trust him anymore and his words are more painful now, but he also shows his poor little meow meow side much more often. yes, he likes horses. yes, he has a huge sweet tooth and the moment someone mentions desserts, he forgets about everything else. yes, he has a soft spot for riley and he will fight anyone who hurts him you heard that vance. treat this boy right he really is much happier now because his family's crimes are known and they finally got what they deserved. he doesn't have to worry about them finding him anymore. ah, what he plans to do in the future? when seth asked him that, hayden was too busy eating cake, but seth noticed a book about insects in his bag, pointed at it and went "ah, maybe something with these little guys?". hayden almost choked on his food. so.. yeah, he kinda wants to get into entomology but don't tell anyone. ALSO HE HAS HIS OWN HORSE NOW BECAUSE RILEY'S PARENTS ARE RICH AND THEY ALLOWED HIM TO HAVE ONE. HE'S LIVING HIS BEST LIFE.
riley glacier.
Tumblr media
so. here's a reminder that allen and riley are related. and as you know, allen is very tall. SO RILEY IS THE SAME HEIGHT AS HIM NOW. YEAH. maybe even kinda buff who knows riley doesn't seem like that character who changed a lot in these few years, but those who are close to him know that he's a whole different person now. he still does act like his kuudere self, but only with those people he doesn't know that well. his friends know that riley can be much more talkative with them and he really does have a lot to say, even if it's just him ranking scented soaps he ranks them by flavor btw. not by scent. he's still popular, in fact, he's even more popular now, but he doesn't mind it that much anymore. he's not trying to avoid his fans, but he's also not too friendly with them, he just says something like "hey, i appreciate your support, but i'm a bit busy right now, so can we hang out later?". he doesn't want to be mean, but he also wants them to respect his personal space. his simps are not as desperate as before anyway, because the fact that he's dating the heartslabyul's dorm leader makes them go "OH. OH OKAY MAYBE I SHOULDN'T FLIRT WITH HIM". about his relationship with allen.. yes, he still doesn't want to talk to him after that overblot incident. but honestly, riley thinks it's better this way, he doesn't want to become obsessed with making allen like him again. he's just glad that allen is doing much better now and he hopes his cousin will find his true happiness one day. so yeah, he's doing good :) he's not sure about his future job and when he was asked about it, he just said "as long as it's interesting, i'm good with anything".
ashley "angel" leroll.
Tumblr media
YES THIS IS ANGEL. YEAH. they decided that they want to look more masculine now and they also wanted to have a more "responsible dorm leader" look. it's their redemption arc and they really are trying to take better care of their dorm members and they know when to stop and when those students can do something without their help. they also try to treat bunny better and they don't let her overwork herself, even though bunny doesn't call angel her friend anymore. OH and speaking of their name, they actually prefer to go by their real name now. they just don't feel like they deserve to have a nickname like that after everything they've done. they try to stay optimistic though and they believe that they can become a better person and maybe, maybe one day they will become worthy of that nickname. they also hope that their brother will forgive them for what they've done to him, but they will understand if he doesn't. hm? what they want to do in the future? uh.. being a scientist sounds fun! haha, didn't expect that one, did you? and don't worry sol they still use kaomojis when they talk even though they don't do it as often

pretend that she has bunny ears here okay she can finally be herself now! she doesn't try to be polite, she speaks her mind and she's strict, just like minnie, but not because she loves other dorm members, she just wants them to behave for once. she can't transfer to a different dorm, so she decided that if she has to stay in speculum, they will have to listen to her and follow the rules <3 sometimes she can be.. um, a bit cruel, but at least other rsa students don't have to run away whenever they see speculum dorm members. they're still chaotic, but the moment bunny looks at them, they go "YES VICE DORM LEADER". she's not friends with angel anymore and their relationship is more professional now, but she doesn't feel sad about it at all. she feels more free now, like she's finally done something that she should've done a long time ago. and yes, people call her by her real name now. no one is allowed to use that nickname anymore.. well, except hayden. but only when she's in a good mood. and maybe fake!jay can call her that too, hehe.. what, why are you looking at her like that? but she's jealous of angel already knowing what they want to do in the future, because she's still not sure about her plans. how weird, bunny always was the one to have a plan for everything and she was more organized compared to angel..
seth delaney.
Tumblr media
okay so, i have never mentioned this before, but seth's vision is actually not that good and he has to wear glasses when he's painting, sewing, drawing, etc. and even though seth has a pretty high self-esteem, he's very insecure about that part and he thinks he looks like a nerd when he wears them. so yes, he's actually kinda blind most of the time hjdjdkdkd. but hey, that's still impressive, considering that he can easily guess anyone's measurements and he can tell what colors would suit someone even when he's not wearing his glasses. and third year!seth would start wearing glasses all the time mostly bc rollo was worried about him and made him do it and he also would stop dyeing his hair blond, but he would still keep the purple tips. his hair is longer now too, he's just trying to accept his past and stop running away from it! don't worry, he has even more piercings and tattoos now though. seth definitely would want to spend the rest of his life in twisted wonderland, he has no reason to come back to his world. didn't the dark mirror say that "he has no home to go back to" or something like that? that's why he wants to make twisted wonderland his real home. and it feels like one, even though it has its flaws and it's not as perfect as he thought it would be. he is still the ramshackle prefect, though nrc students don't see him as often as they did when he was a first year because of him still liking rsa and nbc more. and no, even though he really wanted to change schools, he loves ramshackle dorm too much and he can't leave his dorm members! um.. his future? well, he just wants to live a peaceful life with those he loves. that's it for now.

my ocs as milgram songs!
YESSSSS WE'RE DOING THIS okay so this is very self-indulgent, i should've probably done something.. you know, like i could finally post some of my ocs' backstories or write more vignettes or voicelines/chats for them, BUT NO. I'M ASSIGNING THEM PRISONERS' SONGS. it's okay, it's gonna get pretty deep and i will psychoanalyze them a lot in this post <3
okay, but the thing is that i'm actually not doing this like "this character is this song", i'm actually choosing multiple characters for most songs. the reason? i couldn't decide which song fits which character more and i had too many ideas, so.. yeah. also it's just really fun to imagine my ocs covering these songs and singing them together!
(warning: milgram songs are pretty dark, obviously, and this analysis gets even more darker as we go deeper and some moments.. yeah, they show just how depressed and broken my ocs really are)
weakness: hayden and real!jay
"if i tried and couldn't say it, you would get angry at me and say "you're hopeless". if only i could do what anyone else could do, the right future unfairly chose the wrong me" OKAY WE'RE STARTING THIS OFF WITH SOME GOOD ANGST. so at first i wanted to just use real!jay for this, but then i read the lyrics again and i was like ".. oh, this is haydencore actually". because i remind you, hayden's childhood was not good. this song's lyrics describe hayden's relationship with his family perfectly and i can say the same thing about real!jay as well. hayden's family really was abusive and punished him for pretty much everything, even if it wasn't that bad or it was just him doing something that made him happy, meanwhile real!jay's family members are more "neglectful", they don't exactly hate him, they just.. don't care about him at all. they actually were very loving towards him when he was little and tried to show that they care, but it didn't help much and real!jay still grew up to be a very sad boy who doesn't believe in himself and has an extremely low self-esteem. so eventually they just went "oh well, if you don't want to talk to us, we won't bother you anymore" and they really stopped bothering him which made him feel even more lonely, but he still refused to spend time with them. so yeah, in this case i think real!jay is actually more similar to haruka, because his family actually did treat him well when he was a child and also the main reason why jay's relationship with his family became worse is him not being "smart enough". can't believe my son is a haruka kinnie where did i go wrong also such lyrics as "my life started in a wrong spot" and "my loneliness was desired" fit hayden A LOT.
umbilical: allen, hayden and seth
"what type of girl do you like? i want to become like that, but that's probably too hard for me."
"just the two of us, i finally found it. the lies are endless. just me alone, it really is lonely. let's reload the warmth."
LISTEN. LISTEN ASSIGNING YUNO'S SONGS TO MY KIDS WAS SO FUNNY BECAUSE IT'S LIKE.
*me, looking at all my twst ocs who are mostly male* "okay, boys, which one wants a song that's most likely about abortion" and then i assigned this song to THREE of my male ocs
so, why did i choose these boys? okay, so first of all, it's the vibe. we all can agree that a song like this would fit allen and seth SO WELL, like it's their aesthetic, especially allen's. also of course i had to choose allen for a cute love song that actually has a darker meaning! and i think seth is very similar to yuno, so i really wanted him to have at least one of her songs and then i made him have two . about hayden, this song is literally perfect for him, because it's pretty much about yuno creating all these personas for her clients and HAYDEN CAN RELATE. also, i feel like the beginning of the song gives off "how hayden would act if he was in love" energy, haha. ("why are you here? you annoy me a little, i can't smile well anymore, it's because of you")
also, the "what type of girl do you like" part fits all of them so well, but, like, in different ways? hayden has to pretend to be a different person to make others like him, for seth it's something actually cute and romantic and for allen it's something more creepy and it's just him being his yandere self as usual. and i think that moment where yuno falls off the stairs, catches a balloon and looks more happy after that is very sethcore? it feels a lot like him running away from his sister and getting isekai-ed.
AND I GOT LITERAL CHILLS WHEN I IMAGINED ALL THREE OF THEM DOING THE "I MESSED UP, I FOUND OUT" PART
bring it on: merrill and austin
"what i want to hear is the scream deep inside you. you apologize if you do something wrong, you learn that even before words, don't you?"
okay, i don't actually have a deep reason for this, I JUST KNEW THAT THESE TWO HAVE TO GET FUUTA'S SONG. COME ON THEY'RE MY IGNIHYDE SONS AND THIS IS A SOCIAL MEDIA (+ video games) -THEMED SONG. also it's so fun to imagine both of them singing it together (with merrill doing the slower parts and austin doing the faster/more intense parts) and not with each other but AT each other. so like. it's basically them having a rap battle. this is exactly what other ignihyde members have to deal with every day.
but if we have to go deeper, then we can also interpret it as both of them judging each other and going "WELL I'M SORRY I'M BETTER THAN YOU". but it's not that deep, that's just merrill and austin on the daily (+ more flirting and bickering like an old married couple). so if we go EVEN DEEPER, then this song actually fits austin very well, because he really wants to believe that he's better than everyone else to cope with his insecurity and him not knowing who he wants to be in the future and also him secretly being magicless
after pain: avery and real!jay
"if i was gone, if i had just disappeared, i overheard, i found out, how much i'm not needed. there's no special meaning, i got the short end of the stick."
"if you're going to make me the villain, it's okay to ignore me. if it's endurance, i'm used to it, it's just having another taste of it."
HI HERE'S A REMINDER THAT AVERY WAS BULLIED. A LOT. AND RSA STUDENTS DON'T LIKE HIM. that's the whole reason for me assigning him this song dhjjddksdk. and real!jay is here because he's a sad little boy and this sad little song sounds a lot like him. also i think avery and jay singing this together is so 😔😔😭😭😭
and that one part in the end with muu and that other girl is very averycore too because here's another reminder: his crush told him that she would date him if it wasn't for his freckles (which is a stupid reason, but she was a kid, so.. yeah. tbh i headcanon that she would actually fall in love with avery if she saw him now) so the "i love you" part and imagining avery crying and holding that girl's hand.. i'm on the floor. i'm sobbing. loudly.
throw down: roland and fake!jay
"throw down", it's okay, that's enough. can't stay away, please don't forgive me. that's why i want this to end."
"after stabbing you with my words, the blood started to flow and slowly stained my white. hey, you remember what it feels like? the feeling to take away in order to give"
of course, i had to go with roland for this song. LISTEN THEY GAVE ME A SAD LOVE SONG BY A MORALLY GREY CHARACTER AND I TOOK IT AND GAVE IT TO ROLAND. i feel like i don't have to explain this one, we all know how roland's backstory goes and his relationship with his ex, so i just wanna say that i think this song is perfect for him, especially the moments where shidou says stuff like "don't forgive me" because roland still thinks that he actually doesn't deserve forgiveness. no matter how hard he tries to make people like him and become a better person, he will never truly change his ways and he will always end up becoming obsessed with his love interest and getting into another unhealthy relationship again.. but that's a story for another day.
why did i add jay too? ah, it's just because of the song's aesthetic jdkdksdk. COME ON WATCH THE MV AND TELL ME THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE JAY'S VIBES. DO IT. also i just think jay's soft and pretty voice would fit this song a lot!
this is how to be in love with you: allen and angel
"we fought sometimes, i was happy to get hurt. let's have matching pain, this sickness is pretty bad. this is a claim of responsibility from two of us with matching love"
"giving you love to the point of pulling you down, it's just because i still get worried, please forgive me. even when i test you, even when we do the breakup ritual, is because i love you"
okay, so at first i was sure that i will go ONLY with allen, because this song is so allencore, it scares me. however, i read the lyrics again and.. yeah, allen and angel are gonna have a duet together.
so we all know that allen is a yandere and it's one of his main personality traits, and he's very similar to mahiru, he's just as obsessed with love and romance as her. however, the thing is.. angel's view on love is just as twisted as allen's. i mentioned in the past that i see angel as aroace, but it doesn't mean that they can't be obsessed with platonic love! both of them are so unhinged, it's actually very hard to imagine them having a healthy relationship with someone and it doesn't matter if it's platonic or romantic.
let's think about allen's obsession with love first. why does he want to be loved so much? why does he want to find a s/o already, why is he so ready to marry them and spend the rest of his life with them? yeah, the answer looks simple at first: he's a rich kid who had a very lonely childhood. lumi was his only friend and he didn't like riley that much, so he usually avoided him. and when his parents said that they can't let him and lumi keep being friends, something inside him broke. he was forced to spend the rest of his childhood in complete loneliness and butlers and maids were his only company because he didn't see his parents that often. also allen used to read a lot and most stories he read were very romantic and they always had happy endings, so.. of course, little allen thought that love is the only thing he needs to be happy. that's why he dated so many people, only to get disappointed when he realized he didn't feel anything at all. he just wants to stop feeling lonely. he just wants to feel happy again and if love can't give him that happiness.. what's even the point of him still being alive? so this guy can definitely fall in love with someone, but let's be honest here, he will mostly see his s/o just as a cure for his loneliness at first. he will overwhelm his s/o with his love, he will love them so much that they will eventually get tired of him, but it's okay, that's just him showing how much he cares about them! so they won't leave him, right?..
also here's a fun fact! i think i mentioned it before, but allen actually never killed anyone before, even though he can literally summon knives, but he still never used them to stab anyone, he just uses them to scare his rivals. and if he finally tries to stab someone one day.. that's when it turns out that his "spoiled rich kid self" is actually stronger than his "yandere self". why is there so much blood?.. he didn't want to get his clothes dirty, he feels so gross, he's so angry at his victim, he should take his revenge on them! so he keeps stabbing them, but of course, he just gets more blood on his clothes. this just makes allen even more angry and he will order someone to get rid of the body while he's trying to clean himself up. and no, he's not gonna do the dirty work! that's his servants other students' job! so yeah, allen is definitely dangerous and he's not a good person, but he's actually more pathetic than people think and he's too lazy to kill someone. sure, he can stalk his crush, blackmail them, force them to date him, kidnap them, but he can't let even a drop of blood get on his clothes. he was okay with it during the ghost marriage event because it was fake and vance assured him that the prefect is going to love it.
ANGEL IS SOMEHOW EVEN WORSE THAN HIM. actually, this song fits them even better than allen. angel is obsessed with "fixing" other people, making them feel better, helping them and then they will say that they're just showing their love this way. however, they will try to fix that person even if they don't need their help or they're actually doing fine. what do you mean, you're not going through anything bad? but angel has never seen you smile! and no, saying that you just don't like smiling or you're not comfortable with it won't work. don't worry, angel will take very good care of you <3 even if it hurts, even if you cry more often than you did before meeting angel, even if you're in pain, just remember that they're trying to help. it's them showing their love and you better appreciate it. just look at what they did to hayden! they turned the shy little boy that he was into a popular and charming student with a perfect reputation! look at what they did to bunny! she has such an important position now, she's the vice dorm leader and after angel had to leave, she even had to become a dorm leader until they came back! angel gave her so much, they're sure that bunny loves them just as much as they love her. look at what they did to their little br- ah, you don't have to know about that.
half: roland and bunny
"i imagined that you saying "see you" is the same as "it's over", only if your heart would change, but that's not possible. please tell me what i should do, feelings shrouded in lies will float away and disappear."
roland is just getting all the older guys' songs hdjsksksk. okay, again, i don't think i have to explain why i assigned him this song. LET'S TALK ABOUT BUNNY THOUGH. i should talk about her more often jdjdkdkd.
so we all know that bunny doesn't like angel even though she pretends that she's still friends with her. and their friendship really was kinda wholesome when they first met and angel thought bunny was cute and wanted to get to know her better. but as both of them got older, bunny realized that their relationship is very unhealthy and she didn't want to be friends with someone like angel. she realized just how manipulative angel really is, you see, the reason why bunny is such a perfectionist who's obsessed with always doing everything on time and doing everything better than others is because angel told her that it's okay to be like that. in fact, angel encouraged this kind of behavior and told bunny that she should keep acting like that so that she can show others that she really is better than them. at first bunny truly believed that angel just wanted to help her with her self-confidence, but.. she's not so sure anymore. she really wants to get better, she wants to feel more relaxed, she wants to have fun with other dorm members even though she claims to hate them, but she can't, because the dorm leader themself taught her to hate "chaotic and irresponsible people" like that. and even though bunny hates angel so much, she still can't tell them the truth. maybe it's because she knows she won't have any friends left if she stops hanging out with angel (hayden will most likely leave her after that) or maybe she still wants to believe that angel is a good person. so she just keeps hoping that angel will be the one to end their friendship.
so yeah, if you read the lyrics and imagine this song to be about someone who got tired of their friend, but still doesn't want to let them go for some reason and keeps coming back to them.. i'm crying. i'm crying on the floor rn.
magic: vance
"i've made up my mind so they don't make that face at me again. but it's not scary at all, because it's love."
"i won't say "i've had enough", will you laugh with me and forgive me? i promise! i can only become a better girl! only if, only if, only if i could be a good girl, i hope, i hope everyone could be happy and smile"
do we all remember vance's backstory? do we all remember what his childhood was like? GOOD, I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS ONE DHJDJDKKDDK.
okay, but all jokes aside, little vance really was a lot like amane, he wanted to be a good kid and he did everything he could to make his parents and grandpa proud of him.. it didn't work though and his family still thinks he's a troublemaker 😔
and yes i know that this song would fit hayden a lot but. the vibes. the vibes are certainly vancecore
MeMe: hayden and bunny
"why am i here? it must be a mistake? take a good look at me, until you find me, the truth will come to reveal itself. i won't forgive you if this is happening to me even though i'm right"
"it's the same anywhere i go, it's like what's wrong isn't wrong. i'm already the fake one, i'm probably not to blame, it's probably nothing, i'm probably just having a bad dream"
I JUST WANT THEM TO SCREAM WHILE THIS SONG IS PLAYING. LET THEM COVER THIS SONG. THEY'RE ANGRY, THEY'RE TIRED, THEY'RE STRESSED, ALL THEY NEED TO COPE WITH THAT IS TO COVER A SERIAL KILLER'S SONG
this song describes hayden and bunny's repressed anger perfectly, both of them are tired from people around them and they want to become free from those who have authority over them (in hayden's case, it's his family and azul and in bunny's case, it's angel). they're okay with doing not so morally correct things to achieve their goals and they're used to pretending to be someone else so that others won't suspect anything. though in mikoto's case he literally has multiple personalities but. you get my point
also i chose these lyrics because both of them don't think their actions are wrong. hayden thinks it's okay to lie to everyone and use them and bunny thinks it's okay to say bad things about angel and other dorm members behind their backs and secretly control them with her unique magic. they don't think that they're the villains and they will do anything to make themselves look better.
harrow: minnie
"i'll teach you the pain that you caused, it's a tie after saying sorry. what are you hoping for? shall we replace the poor soul and the miserable delusion, "i didn't mean to offend", "i won't do it again", how many wins in a row?"
"if it damaged someone's dream to the point of stopping it, i want to gouge you out with my fangs, i want to be drowning in the knowledge that i am right"
i love minnie, but. let's be honest, she would most likely be a kotoko apologist 😭😭 minnie is a very strict person, who can be quite judgemental, but even though she thinks that she's the smartest one, she often makes decisions that are.. not so good. like, she can often act out of pure spite and it doesn't help that she has a secret sadistic side and sometimes she just wants to see other students suffer. and in the end she will always say that she just wanted to help them and it's for their own good and they're just too dumb and can't understand it.
minnie does have her reasons to act like that, just like hayden and bunny, she has a lot of anger inside her and she doesn't know how to cope with it. she wants to do something about it, but even though seth is the ramshackle prefect, he's not the best therapist, so he can't give her a good advice. so minnie has no choice but to lash out, scream and blame everyone but herself.. though it wasn't her fault that her dad left and her brother refused to help minnie take care of their mom. but minnie is just too afraid that the same thing will happen again and she will have no one to rely on and she doesn't want to feel as lonely as she felt in the past. so she just keeps pushing everyone away, yelling at them, pointing her finger at them and saying that they're the bad guys. she wants someone to tell her that she's right, comfort her and assure her that she did nothing wrong. so yeah, the "i want to be drowning in the knowledge that i am right" part fits her perfectly my favorite part of the song tbh it says a lot about kotoko's character i think
all-knowledge and all-agony: real!jay
"you were always comparing me to someone else, you were always generous, except towards me. i will definitely make you love me again"
"i just wanted to be your good boy, why am i crying again? if with one click, and i can reset everything, can i be your favorite this time?"
again, i don't think i should explain this one, because I HAVE TO AGREE, ALL-KNOWING ALL-AGONY IS MUCH MORE INTENSE THAN WEAKNESS, but.. i assigned it to real!jay for the exact same reason as weakness. though i think it fits him even better than weakness because of how desperate haruka sounds and him being even more unhinged in this mv. jay craves love and attention even though he doesn't talk much about it and it's not that obvious. also the aesthetic of the mv and this whole animals theme.. yeah
tear drop: merrill, riley and seth
""poor naive little girl"? so off the mark, what's it to you? it's just absurd, like really, who do you think you are? don't weigh me, measure me against your morality, just shut it, will you?"
"i'm the one who chose, let you, you and you all in. happy or sad? why decide? where'd you get your half-baked sense of justice? so nauseating, so creepy, will you please disappear? phew, anyway!"
YUNO'S SONG BEING EXTREMELY RILEYCORE IS SO FUNNY TO ME. i just imagine merrill and seth watching the mv and going ".. should we. should we let our sweet innocent son sing this song". they have no idea how excited riley is to sing it.
okay, so why is this song perfect for riley? you see, this guy actually hates his fans. this is exactly why he refuses to show his emotions, he hoped that his fans will think he's creepy and will avoid him, but it didn't work and now people think he's even more cute. but no his quirks and weird personality traits are real and he's not pretending and the main reason why he hates them is not because he's an introvert and wants to be left alone or something like that, but because 1) he thinks allen deserves to be more popular and 2) he knows that his fans don't know that much about him and they see him only as this pure and innocent boy who always has this face 😐. he would be okay with them if they actually liked him because of his achievements, his talents, his personality, he would even be okay with them liking him only because of his appearance. however, people love him only because they believe that he's this perfect cinnamon roll and he's not like that at all. riley is just as flawed as them, come on, he still refuses to leave his cousin alone even though allen hates him! and no, that's not him being cute, that's him refusing to accept that someone can actually dislike him, even hate him. he's used to people loving him and even though he doesn't want to accept their love, he doesn't want to accept them hating him as well. the "so nauseating, so creepy, will you please disappear" part is perfect for riley and it shows how he actually feels about his fans.
the aesthetic of the mv is perfect for seth and merrill though. tear drop fits merrill as well because, just like riley, merrill knows that people actually don't know anything about him. they like him only because of his appearance and flirty personality, but that's it. he's nothing to them. and merrill likes to say that he doesn't care about that because he doesn't need those people, but.. he needs the attention though. and if he doesn't get the kind of attention he wants.. merrill will break. he will lose his reason to live. he wants people to see him as something more than just an attractive upperclassman with a cool aura and a secret magicam account, but he knows that it's impossible, so he has to accept that kind of attention from them. if he doesn't, he will get no attention at all ("the fading warmth makes me anxious again")
now, why did i choose seth? as i said before, seth gives me strong yuno kinnie vibes, because both of them act like they're much more carefree than they really are and they are actually very smart and they're more emotionless and cold than people think. both of them don't want others to treat them like a child, but they still want to be loved, seth even wants to be saved. he wants someone to care about him, but he doesn't want that person to treat him like his sister did. he still wants to be free, he wants to have a fun life, but he also just wants to be held. ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT "TEAR DROP" AND "DROP OF SUNLIGHT"-
backdraft: avery and austin
"applause receding far away, me, the result of blame-shifting, no, can't find that funny. with just one mistake and i'm out of chances, bless me, please, with one more chance. it's not even my fault, not even slightly"
fuuta's songs are perfect for austin, okay? in short, i chose this song for avery and austin because both of them are very insecure and cope with it by making fun of others and being mean, but the moment others start treating them the same way, they start to panic and they either beg for forgiveness or.. have a breakdown. avery ended up overblotting because of how much rsa students hated him even though they had a good reason for that and whenever people bully austin or simply point out his mistakes, he locks himself up in his room and cries into his pillow, so yeah, he's much more sensitive than he looks like.
also, i think it would be fun for vance to join them to cover this song, i feel like this song's vibe fits him well and it's just very fun to imagine avery and austin having an existential crisis and rethinking their actions meanwhile this guy is jumping around and going "BURN BURN :D"
as for the future season 2 songs, for now i feel like "it's not my fault" has angel's vibes, "the purge march" sounds like vance and hayden's duet (especially their overblot versions) and. yeah, "i love you" is allencore. ALSO I THINK MERRILL'S COVER OF "CAT" WOULD SOUND COOL

my ocs' masquerade outfits!
Tumblr media
listen. the shading and coloring might be a bit messy here and also i didn't really try to make their outfits "historically accurate" or anything like that, i just went with anything that looked pretty or elegant enough, haha.
also i spent six hours working on this. i think it's okay for me to be lazy with shading and coloring because of how tired i was
so, for this event i chose seth (because he's my mc, so of course he's coming), merrill (because he was the only nrc oc that came to my mind when i heard about this event. i just think it would fit him), hayden (yes i know i've been giving him way too much attention lately, but. i had to make him interact with rollo, come on, HE IS GONNA MEET SOMEONE FROM THE OTHER SEVEN), allen (i just wanted him to wear an outfit like this), roland and fake!jay (again i just thought that this event is perfect for them)!
I HAVE A REASON TO ADD RSA OCS TOO, OKAY. it was mentioned that other schools are also participating, so i'll take it as a sign that rsa students are there too <3
now, some design notes because I PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THESE OUTFITS.
seth's outfit is supposed to be similar to grim's because it was mentioned in the event that their outfits look almost the same. but grim insists that he still looks better
seth's mask is dark purple and it (+his cape) has sun motifs as a reference to the flag of corona, rapunzel's kingdom. it also has "a drop of sunlight" in the center, but it's not that noticeable.
IT'S A JOKE FROM THE SERVER, but i decided to make it canon: seth's shoulders are actually open here, but when rollo saw it, he got a bit nervous and he gave seth a cape, so that he can cover them. seth didn't like that, but he agreed to wear it, because his mind went "okay, this guy looks kinda scary, i probably shouldn't get on his bad side".
merrill's outfit is mostly purple with some pink details, as a reference to the colors of meg's outfit. he also wears a hat this time too because i miss estelle (and her mom too, of course) 😔
ANOTHER JOKE FROM THE SERVER, at first merrill showed up in a more revealing outfit and he liked it a lot, but rollo said that "it must've been the wrong version", apologized and asked his assistants to bring the right one. merrill wasn't happy about it and he even wondered why would they make an outfit like that in the first place. he also didn't like that he has to wear something completely different, meanwhile seth still gets to wear his outfit, he just had to cover his shoulders.
hayden's outfit is supposed to be a MUCH MORE simple version of azul's outfit (or octavinelle one in general), not only because i was lazy to draw ALL THE DETAILS, but also because a version like that fits him more in a way. hayden doesn't want to draw too much attention to himself or at least that's what he says
his mask is supposed to look like a chameleon and his belt is supposed to look like it has eyes on it. i originally planned to draw more eyes on it biblical angel-core and all, but i changed my mind.
allen's mask has the same colors as one of anna's dresses from the first movie and his outfit has a lot of hearts on it as a reference to his romantic nature. it also has pink and blue colors, like the sweater he usually wears.
YES, ROLAND EYE REVEAL. at first i thought that maybe he didn't get an eyepatch at all could be a subtle reference to rollo possibly hating fairies but what if he actually could choose between a mask and an eyepatch and he still chose a mask because he wanted to look like he's actually going to a masquerade? he would say that his eyepatch wouldn't fit for this event and he doesn't want to stand out much. he also would apologize to everyone if they think that his "other eye" looks scary.
I THINK YOU CAN REALLY SEE THAT I GOT LAZY WHEN IT CAME TO ROLAND'S OUTFIT JDKESDLSLSDL. it has this nature theme, because of course it does, he's the gardening club leader! so yeah, there's a lot of flowers, tree branches and leaves, if you look closer.
i wanted jay's mask to look like it has vines on it and i'm not sure if i succeeded dnjdkdkd. i also thought that maybe he could have this "young detective" vibe? i don't know why i thought about that, but it seemed like a cool idea to me.
so i thought that if nrc outfits are mostly black (or have dark colors), then rsa outfits should be mostly white, but jay doesn't really wear anything white here (except some details). it's like a reference to him being different from other students and him not being "real".
