I can put in my two cents here: I like Alyanette as opposed to Adrino more because In a lot of the adrino fics I've read. There's an underlaying layer of either "save him and nino from stalker marinette/evil (???) alya. Also because a lot the Adrino fics I've found feel sort of 'squee gaybies' fetishizing. Whereas the alyanette fics feel like they were actually written by... a woman who likes women.

What Adrino fics are you READING?!

Seriously, I've read most Adrino fics (well, that aren't smutty anyway, I filter out M and E rated fics by default) in the fandom that have been published since I joined the fandom in 2019. I don't recall ever seeing that, and looking through the Adrien/Nino category on AO3, it looks the way I remember (not counting that I usually filter out the M and E rated stuff, anyway). There are only 399 works in the category, so it's not hard to glance through and see what the typical Adrino fics look like.

I only see three Adrino fics that are marked with Marinette Bashing, and looking through the Adrino category, it doesn't seem like it's got a ton of untagged bashing or bashing that uses a different tag. When you say that a lot of the Adrino fics you've read have a "save Adrien and Nino from stalker Marinette/evil Alya", are you referring to these three fics specifically? Out of 399?!

As for the "squee gaybie" fetishizing, I haven't really gotten that vibe? Granted, I don't know what criteria you're using for that kind of "fetishizing", I've never seen criteria laid out for it when it comes to fictional pairings that would differentiate "regular shipping" like you see done with F/M couples from the sort of shipping you see with M/M couples that is considered "fetishizing", and without those criteria, it can very quickly become a case of "don't ship any gay couples just in case it's fetishizing, and instead devote all your energy to F/M couples, since that isn't", which... yeah I don't think that's a desirable outcome here.

In any case, most Adrien/Nino fics I read are fairly equitable in whose viewpoint it's from and usually you see why they end up catching feelings for each other, so if the criteria is "the story treats both the characters as people", I'd say that Adrino fics do as well on that front as any other pairing.

I do like Alyanette fics too, and honestly, a lot of those probably ARE written by women who like women. Most fanfic writers are women, and a lot of fanfic writers are queer, so there's a high chance that a person choosing to write an Alyanette fic is a lesbian.

Miraculous Pokemon AU headcanons

thought I posted this on last Friday but I can’t find it so I’m posting it again...

This AU can work with or without them still being superheros but I’m mostly imagining it as separate.

First we have Marinette, who would still be very interested in fashion in this AU but does devote some time towards training her pokemon.

This one was heavily influenced by the rest of the people on the Alyanette Discord chat but we start with the most obvious one; Ledian, this is obviously in reference to her as Ladybug but for this AU I really like the idea of her favoring meadow pokemon, basically smaller grassland ones because the leanings of the chat discussion was towards bugs, fairies, and pink pokemon. Spring Deerling fits the meadow vibe but its also spotted as it’s a fawn and I feel like even as it changed its colors seasonally she’d take fashion inspiration from it. Leavanny is the seamstress of the pokemon world and Marinette would try to both learn from it and train it to help her in her own sewing. Floette seemed like the most fitting fairy because it’s one of the more common ones in Kalos which is the region based on France but seeing how Marinette likes to include flowers in all her designs I liked the idea of a flower holding fairy flitting about helping her think of designs. and Finally, Victini, someone mentioned that out of all the people in this AU Marinette was the most likely to eventually get a legend so I thought the most suiting one for her would be the lucky victory pokemon. Imagine Victini being the force of luck behind her actions.

As for her dream of getting a hamster, I think it’d be cute for her to want to one day find a shiny pink minccino.

For Adrien I tried imagining what a rich person would own combined with what a rebellious rich person would own. The Glameow and Persian were given to Adrien to serve as status symbols as both are frequently used to display wealth in the pokemon world. Litten would be a third cat he found as a stray and wasn’t allowed to keep but hides and feeds anyway. The noibat comes in part from a headcanon that noibat would be a perfect pokemon for schoolchildren as it is very good at listening for danger and sounding an alarm if the child is threatened so I could see Adrien receiving one when he convinces his father to let him attend school. And Alolan Raticate seemed like a good way to blend his wealthy status as the Alolan varient is a gourmet pokemon but raticate itself is common enough that adrien would feel comfortable having it out and about with his friend and not feel like he’s showing off in stead of just for show like his two cats.

For Chloe Imagined her having her father help her obtain a bunch of rare pokemon that work as status symbols like specific shinies that fit her preferred aesthetic but I could see her moving past that at some point and deciding that she likes the bee pokemon after growing attached to Vespiquen,

After that change(which in versions of this au that still include the kwamis would be after she was Queen B) she decides to have a whole team of bees from all over and her dad even tries to be supportive of this interest and gets her a rare shiny which is when the Naganadel comes in. while she hands off her other pokemon to Sabrina as an extension of her minor redemption.

Sabrina would have a growlithe that she probaly got as a puppy from the police station her dad works in and then got two shinies from Chloe. as for the other two Audino seemed to fit her supporting nature and I had a reason for the Swablu on Friday but have since forgotten, if I remember I’ll edit this post.

By the time I got to thinking of Alya’s team I got the idea to use a more horizontal team building website to show what I’m saying, The rotom, plusle, and minun are sort of obvious Lady Wifi references but also references to how news crews in the pokemon world usually use electric types. And the Rena Rouge references for fennekin and zorua are both pretty obvious as well but it also seems to fit her general vibe of being a voice of wisdom for her friends as well as being supportive of mischief when her friends decide to make some trouble.

For Juleka I could see her tying to keep a dark aesthetic with blitzle serving as an electric pokemon to help her as part of a band but gothita and frillish as more cute ones that she got while hanging out with Rose

And for Rose igglybuff and driftloon are very airy and cute which she would love, the Roselia is self explanatory, and the whismur, on top of being cute and pink, matches her style of singing in her band. The mimikyu and driftloon are ones she got when helping Jeleka get some of her ghosts that she thought were adorable and briefly considered using to prank Juleka before deciding that that would be mean. And ralts being attracted to pure souls and well intentioned people seemed fitting as well as a good partner to Juleka’s gothita.
