Pleaseeee tell me more about that homescryption au
A little something between you and me and everyone else who happens to look at this post. Im working on a lineup for the four scrybes :D
Tumblr media
Roxys design is subject to change and you guys have already seen D1rk. Jane and Jake are in progress!!! (Also D1rk and Harley are the names for dirk and jake but weve been struggling to come up with appropriately fantasical/magical names for Jane and Roxy that align with magnificus and grimora😞 Harley feels old-manish enough that it fits in well… im sure well get there but if anybody has ideas feel free to comment ✌️)
But yes i can tell you more!!! ILL PUT IT ALL UNDER THE CUT THIS POST IS GOING TO BE LONG o7
Working with cyrus repliiku to flesh it out x3 he was the one who got me into the game and im CRAZY NOW!!!!
The four alpha scrybes methods of inscribing cards are that Harley uses his magic blunderbuss and the things he shoots become cards, Roxys cards are the fantasical characters she creates in her stories, Jane will be a detective of death, uncovering how cards die and writing up a casefile in her detective agency about them (might give her a magic magnifying glass. Well see), and D1rk were trying to figure out something with Sburbs captcha card + ghost captcha system like how Po3’s cards are printed from real robots
The students/the scrybes underlings are going to be other homestuck characters or splinters!
D1rks will be the robots (aradiabot, arquius (wanted him to me more unique than just brobot + hal so he gets to be a robot) and jadebot.
Harleys will be jake-ish splinters rather than new characters. Thered be the Adventurer (prospector), the Hunter (trapper/trader), the Sailor (angler), the Ectobiologist (mycologists), and the Actor (woodcarver) and his campaigns would be more Action packed like jakes action movies type stuff hehe
Janes will be the dead trolls, nepeta, equius and feferi. Not much to say besides them being dead lol 😭
And roxys were still figuring out but nerm. Viceroy/Casey, Rose (maybe goobert but they are actually nice and kind to her) and Eridan….(lonely wizard he was banished to the shadow realm for being annoying 😁👍)
Luke Carter is going to be Calliope and Satan in the greater scheme of the daniel mullins-verse will be Caliborn/Lord English because i think itd be very funny for him to just. Be making video games and thats his evil plot. LOL and Sado would be Gamzee. (Will not expand to pony island or the hex this is just clearing up the ending of inscryption)
Kaycee would probably be Aranea but like just some normal girl. Not all that sure abt the OLD_DATA tho ??? Maybe just all the wrong doings Lord English has committed and influenced culminated into the files or the code that brought him into the universe I DUNNO.
Retconning the drawing i did when i first scribbled this AU, i believe when harley turns the other scrybes into preexisting cards d1rk would become a seagull (kingfisher replacement) roxy would become a jaguar (wolf replacement) and jane would become a jackalope (pronghorn replacement) 😁
And the way harley would be defeated would be using his blunderbuss on him with a special bullet instead of film. Po3’s decapitation fulfilled the Dirk prophecy too LOL
I think that of the gameplay/card gimmicks themselves would work basically the same but i might try and come up with more creative homestucky twists on them
Im planning on finishing the designs and making sprites and more mockup screenshots :3
I might write up or draw a comprehensive ref sheet for this au someday but for now heres what weve jotted down 👍

may i ask about your transfem eridan reading if possible?
I'm afraid to say I don't have a ton of analysis wrt the way Eridan is written in the context of Homestuck. I believe the person who wrote Eridan's Pesterquest route (which pretty heavily hinted at transfem Eridan) said there was some stuff in canon which supported it, which isn't like. Technically wrong. But to do that we gotta get into March Eridan because let's be honest that's where that whole thing stemmed from.
So the original March Eridan stemmed from this image of Eridan is a tube top, plaid skirt/pigtails etc. from the official Homestuck Calendar.
Tumblr media
Which was, from what I can tell, somewhat controversial in the fandom. Some people vehemently disliked it and used it as an excuse to be transphobic, some people used it as an excuse to draw a thirteen-year old boy in very skimpy feminine clothing. Y'know. Fun stuff.
But the original image itself is kind of interesting in origin. It was actually drawn by Paige Turner, a trans woman who did a lot of art for Homestuck (especially in the walkarounds) and was quite possible the person responsible for This
Tumblr media
So the original image clearly had some Vision in it, which then got incorporated back into Homestuck via March Eridan appearing in the Ministrife.
Tumblr media
I think people can forget sometimes how much external/fandom impulses get folded back into Homestuck, especially post Act 5. In the text, there isn't a ton of supporting evidence, but the Text changes and adds in new things all the time!
That being said, my actual TAKE on how a transfem Eridan would go is. I mean I wrote it in The Golden Mile. I think Eridan's line in Pesterquest is a really interesting one. He says he's not open about how he thinks the gender binary is fake and stupid because people already hate him, and if he supported gender deviance it would just direct people's ire to one of the only things he thinks is actually good that he supports. There's always an odd self-awareness about Eridan's worst traits that he shows pretty frequently. It doesn't make it better that he then engages in those shitty traits, but it does show some potential for growth.
And I think growth is the key word here. I think Eridan's gender arc should coincide with Eridan becoming a person she can actually stand being. And I think having a transfem who was, objectively, a complete shitter, is an interesting story that we aren't often shown. There are, in real life, trans women who were shitheads before coming out, and who, after changing, probably shouldn't have to live in constant shame over who they were once, as long as they do better in the future. It's something I'm going to explore going forward in Early June, and I think a good transfem Eridan can add a lot to the character.

FCG: I CAN'T SHAKE THE FEELING SOMEONE ELSE MUST BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. FCG: IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN IN OUR SESSION. FCG: SOLLUX HAS THE SAME INTUITION ABOUT IT AS ME, HE THINKS THERE'S SOMETHING FII2HY ABOUT IT.
If Sollux is the one who smells a rat, then maybe the mechanism of the Mistake relates to one of his interests, such as coding. Sollux would surely notice the telltale signs of a botched ~ATH script, or other supernatural programming error.
Sburb’s source code doesn’t control the Medium - but it did transport the kids there. Maybe they’ll try to reverse this process, opening a gateway out of the Incipisphere to escape their failed session - but since none of them can code properly, the program actually tears holes in unrelated sessions, such as the trolls’.
FCG: HE SAYS HE'S WORKING ON TRACING THE ORIGIN OF THIS DISASTER.
Tumblr media
I love how Kanaya’s sitting right behind the origin of this disaster.
FCG: IN A WEIRD WAY I'M SORT OF LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING SOMETHING NEW TO BE PISSED OFF ABOUT. FCG: IT'S NOT LIKE THERE'S ANYTHING ELSE TO LIVE FOR NOW ANYWAY.
I totally get it. The whole team must be...
Actually, let’s think about this. Now that I’m familiar with all the trolls, how do I think each of them is reacting to their failure?
Aradia saw this coming, of course. Before the session, she was completely 0k with their inevitable failure - but now that she’s partially alive again, that might be about to change. We do know that she’s going to be uncomfortable with Project Trolling - but why?
Tavros misses Prospit. That aside, he’s probably just happy to get to relax after their month-long campaign.
Sollux is suspicious. Something has gone very wrong, and he suspects that the cause lies outside the session. Plus, he’s apparently been spending a lot of time with Feferi...
Nepeta probably misses the outdoors. We don’t know much about her role in the session, so I can’t tell if she’s going to be heavily involved in the current crisis. What’s a Rogue to do?
Kanaya is surrounded by her scared, confused teammates, and her level-headedness is surely being tested. She’s probably working closely with more reasonable trolls like Karkat, and desperately scanning Rose’s guide for any clues about their situation. Once she realizes the truth, she’s going to be livid.
Terezi’s skills lie with people. She’s keeping a close eye on her peers, trying to figure out how they’re responding to this disaster, and who might become a problem. She also finds the whole thing kind of funny.
Isn’t it awful, Vriska, to be forced into a loss through no fault of your own?
Equius probably blames the session’s failure on its lowblood leader. He might try to take command, but I think he’ll be distracted by relationship drama with Aradia. That one ain’t gonna last.
Gamzee hasn’t been paying attention, and still thinks the session is in full swing. He’s just chillin’.
Eridan doesn’t understand what went wrong, and doesn’t care - he’s still struggling with the fallout of Alternian societal collapse. Unlike Equius, he has no relationships to distract him, and I’m expecting an actual coup attempt.
Feferi has grown closer to Sollux, who is about to locate the humans. She’s probably involved in this search, since she’s going to unite the two races.
FCG: LAST SWEEP'S EVE WAS PROBABLY THE LAST HAPPY MEMORY I HAVE IN FACT. FCG: WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO FOR THE LAST HOLIDAY? FCG: ANYONE? FCG: I REMEMBER MY LUSUS HAD BEEN GONE FOR DAYS AND I WAS STARTING TO GET WORRIED. FCG: BUT THEN HE FINALLY RETURNED, TRIUMPHANT. FCG: HE BROUGHT THE FRESH BEHEMOTH LEAVING INTO OUR HIVE, AND TOGETHER WE DECORATED IT. FCG: AND FCG: I DUNNO FCG: THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY, I'M GETTING A LUMP IN MY SQUAWK BLISTER.
Alternia hates its young.
It hates them. It really does. They’re forced to prove their worth in the brooding caverns before they can even speak - and even if they survive, many of them will be murdered by the state for arbitrary reasons. They’re killed for being single, for being mutants, and for standing too close to a body of water, for fuck’s sake. This planet hates the children who call it home.
But they still have holidays.
If that isn’t the most bittersweet thing I’ve ever heard. Alternia scoffs at art, fashion, peace and family, but in a strange twist of fate, it does not scoff at Sweep’s Eve - presumably, the troll equivalent of New Year’s Eve. On this brutal, pragmatic planet, these kids celebrate the simple joy of a new beginning - just like us.
There’s a crumb of warmth baked into Alternian society, despite everything its leaders have done to stamp it out.
FCG: I GUESS I'M DONE. FCG: I'M GOING TO LIE DOWN NOW FCG: ON THE STEEL FLOOR OF THIS FRIGID METEOR DRIFTING THROUGH THE BLACK UNCARING VOID OF OUR NULL SESSION. FCG: NULL, KIND OF LIKE THIS MEMO I GUESS
For its inhabitants, this warmth can be rather hard to find...
Tumblr media
But it’s there.

ayo im kinda trying to assign a classpect to myself and im stuck between Bard of Void and Prince of Time can u please tell me more bout it?
Ok!!!
BARD OF VOID
The bard is someone who basically thinks, feels, acts, or IS one way for most of their life up until a point where they change fundamentally and become the exact opposite. In a destructive way. For a bard of void, this might look like encouraging people to look things up, explaining things to others, Passively Destroying Void. By encouraging light. They would value knowledge and enjoy learning. OR luck or like water or actual light or whatever. At some point the bard would suddenly realize like… mysticism and not knowing some things is actually the correct… way. To be. Like they change their mind. And then they start destroying shit. Perhaps literally. Burning libraries, shooting out lights, maybe they could even manipulate the heroic/just clock to cause people to die or not die (luck can influence the outcome as seen by aranea and I think maybe vriska I can’t remember). This time they would be Passively Destroying USING Void. Ok? And like let’s not forget they can still passively destroy void as well. And they could destroy using void before. Maybe now they tell people misinformation… they… hmm… using void to destroy… they could thanos snap people out of existence? Into the negative space? That’s destructive. They could perhaps send basically ANYTHING into the shadow realm. And before….. they would have been able to destroy using void… that might look likeeee…. I’m trying to think about gamzee pre-sober. Destroying using rage. I’m thinking about when he tries to pray his computer out of his sylladex and then it doesn’t work so he just grabs it? That’s sort of destroying by debunking… since rage is about the truth. You see what I’m saying? So before, the bard of void could have been like trying to look something up and then just given up and decided it’s best that they don’t know? Something like that. THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for a bard is determining when and where they would snap. Please keep that in mind. They have unpredictable personalities and are very capricious.
PRINCE OF TIME
This is a powerful and scary guy. The bard is kind of goofy and in your face, but the prince is angry and brooding and cold. The prince’s job is to destroy an aspect that…. Hmm…. It seems like the prince’s aspect is a bit of a nuisance in their sessions. I always wonder how hussie could have carefully planned each and every character to represent their class and aspect in every way correctly. The prince’s aspect is maybe a threat to the successful continuation of the session. I think it’s kind of up to them to not get carried away but to sort of clean up the excess aspect. Dirk sort of nuked everyone’s interest in Jake by proving how shit a boyfriend he is. Which was holding everyone back a bit. Eridan… went way overboard with everything. Dirk could have definitely broken everyone’s spirit and destroyed the souls of all players if he was an antagonist. Like eridan. Eridan’s session was like a bunch of naive teenagers expecting to beat this game like a challenge instead of like a journey. And he got rid of that naive optimism right away. Honestly in feferi alone there was hope for a brighter future like beforus which is definitely less bloodthirsty and colonial. And he nipped that in the bud along with every other positive future aspiration the team had. As far as he could, at least. We don’t have a lot of information about the alpha trolls session, but there is a lot of discord and ill will going on in there. I think there’s also much more disillusionment among the players. Granted they are all dead already so that kind of makes it more obvious that this isn’t going to go well. A prince of time might be a really bad sign for the session. Or it could be everyone is lollygagging around and there’s an excess of time and things are taking forever. The prince could like move through time I assume and maybe skip forward. They could perhaps fast forward the session for everyone? Jade was able to manipulate space to affect everyone. Unlike how Dave mostly affected his own timeline. This fast forwarding thing could really screw up everyone’s day. Maybe even like making people too old and decrepit to work like with osteoporosis and shit. Or skipping to the end of the game. That could be misguided and everyone isn’t ready yet or it could be vengeful and vindictive. They could even maybe age the frog (again, misguided or on purpose) and accidentally kill it or something. The time player is supposed to breed the frog. It is NOT the knights job, karkat just did it bc he’s the leader and since he’s not the time player he caused The Tumor. Anyway. Are you more of a fighter or a wildcard?

I've certainly seen at least a few people headcanon that the dreambubbles have affected the dancestors behavior in some way, but I haven't seen any attempts at actually explaining how it could have possibly worked, so I've figured out I'd share my own theory.
Quick but necessary disclaimer first, though: none of this is canon. I'd say I'm being quite charitable here even calling it a theory, when in reality it's more like an AU. So by no means assume it's a hard rule or a definite explanation of what's going on. Personally, I see it as a bit of a cheat code that leaves me a lot of free room to write the dancestors closer to how I would've wanted them to be written, hence I'm sharing in case somebody wants to do a similar thing without truly contradicting the information we have in the source material.
To start with, we can kind of scratch the idea that the dreambubbles prevent you from changing right off the bat, as we see at least three different characters go through some character development in spite of being dead and stuck there (Meenah, Aranea, Vriska). You could probably make it work if you really, really wanted that, but it doesn't seem all that plausible.
So, if the issue isn't that you cannot change, perhaps the issue is that you change too much.
Let's start from the beginning - how do the dreambubbles work? Well, they allow for the ghosts to continue existing, as well as for the dreamers to wake up in there and interact with them or each other. How does the awakening happen, whether for the dead or the sleeping?
Through a memory.
Examples I can think of are:
1 - dead - doomed!Dave, playing a game, still in his triangular shades, until Aradia starts trolling him and eventually he realizes this is not actually real, so both his surroundings as well as appearance change to match what he remembers, until he reaches the realization that he is, in fact, dead, and blood appears on his body, too.
2 - sleeping - Terezi goes through a memory of her conversation with Vriska after she'd blinded her, and it takes her a moment to realize something is wrong, as well as that the person she was talking with wasn't even Vriska, but Aranea instead; it's more or less then, that her surroundings change.
In other words, one of the main pillars of the dreambubbles are memories.
But the thing is, memories are quite subjective and heavily influenced by the way we perceive things. So, if we assume that the perception of an event can affect the surroundings as well as your appearance and state (eg. dead!Eridan who still has his eyes, as he apparently hasn't realized he's dead), wouldn't it be possible for the perception of a person to affect their behavior?
The way I imagine it working is essentially a positive feedback loop. Regardless of whether it was true or not, from your perspective the person you interact with was a self-absorbed asshole who looked down on everybody, and tried to sound smart and objective when in reality they were just insulting everybody and to make themselves look better in comparison.
It's possible you weren't the only person who thought that way or thought something similar (and there were already thousands of yous) and in the same manner the surroundings were adjusting to your thoughts, the person in front of you was also changing slightly to fit better the subconscious description you've had for them in your mind.
What if the person was a bit of a shameless flirt? Maybe they weren't all that serious about it, but you've always got the impression that all they've ever wanted to do is get into other people's pants. Or they were really passionate about horses, to the point where you've seriously thought it was all they cared about, hell, maybe they should've just been hatched as a fucking horse! Or they really loved to talk about shipping, as if nothing else was more important. Or in reverse, you've always seen that person as level-headed and respectable, in spite of them being actually pretty head-strong and at times just genuinely shitty. Or you've seen somebody as cool and assertive, when in reality they were extremely insecure and conflict-averse.
The more you see these people that way, the more their personalities shift to fit these descriptions, and the more they shift, the more confirmation you get about them being like you've always thought them to be, which ends up making these perceptions even stronger, and makes them behave even stronger in that specific way, which once again validates your perception of them, and… And it just keeps happening.
Personally, I don't consider this to be a completely unavoidable process, especially when you're aware of this happening. But the real question is, is there actually a point? The dancestors have spent an eternity in the dreambubbles, surrounded by thousands of other versions of themselves, affected by all these various versions of each other. It's got to get tiring at some point to just remain so vigilant in differentiating your own thought patterns from what is something you wouldn't have actually thought in your right might. It's just… too much effort. Who even cares what becomes of you? Your world is gone, everybody around you is dead and just as tired of it all. Why bother?
Or in case you still want to retain the clarity of your mind, but without all that conscious effort, the only other option is to get as far from people as possible. The less ghosts around you, the less perceptions to affect you. That could explain how Meenah is… pretty normal, after staying away from everybody in the memory of her hive for however long she was there.
To sum it up, the dreambubbles are essentially the place where believing in something makes it less and less fake until it becomes real.

Oh wait is the poll not meant to be who is the most evil but who is the most shit? Then yea, definitely Cronus, the dancestors suck in general tbh. They're literally just meant to be one note parodies made out of spite. Caliborn may parody things himself but he's still got way more going for him, plus he's entertaining as hell.
The word 'worst' has many kinds of interpretations. I guess never specified like worst being like overall person, actions they done within the series, or their beliefs being different from the audience themselves. But I chose worst to gauge to see what the fandom thinks is considered worst. On Twitter, people think the guy who abused and supposedly sexually assaulted a minor is worse than the genocidal violent troll in a system that encourages racist behaviors. Compared to Tumblr here, racism is more bad than abuse. Sure there can be factors to things like how each person interprets the characters. Whether some believe Bro being abusive and if Eridan is only pretending to be racist to hide the fact he is actually lonely. Some think the Dancestors that aren't just Meenah and Aranea, are more than just flanderizations of how the fandom views the trolls. After all, Hussie had written off Equius and Nepeta as joke characters, but there is a fanbase that loves them and thinks they had or would have played a bigger role if Hussie actually gave a shit to be a better writer. So the fandom can say the Dancestors are not joke characters either like it was written for people like Feferi, Eridan, Equius, and Nepeta. The Dancestors are still connected to the Ancestors, so people can speculate about how they would have been much like their adult selves and how the stuff in Beforus before and after the game, changed to them to the ones we see today. There are some who didn't enjoy Caliborn during Act 6. Some hate his childish behavior throughout the comic and how he is and would be the inevitable big bad. Even if he is said villain and his villain title is justified, people think just because you are villain you can't do X bad thing because that's too far. Caliborn and Lord English are also separate beings and people think that Caliborn did not live up to becoming the unbeatable monster.

COULD WE GET A MAGE OF TIME CLASSPECTING????? XXXO
Specifically if they went of the deep end…. went rogue…. went evil…. tried to take another player down….
Aw geez ok so I'm assuming this ask is for an OC? Unless you're confessing to attempted murder in my askbox, in which case, please don't I already overthink life as is (and also, please don't attempt murder, but that's kinda obvious).
So, because this is for a character and not a person, I'm dividing this one into two parts; the practical one where I talk Mage of Time as if I'm analyzing a person, and the part where I go into evil oc territory. I'll probably divide with a reblog, we'll see how long this post gets and decide there.
SO! Mage of Time... As per usual, starting on class before aspect.
Mages are... well, in my brain I call us "the anxiety class", but there's good odds it'll be just me. Mages understand their aspect in its entirety, the good, the bad, the nightmare inducing... all of it. It makes us clever, or just smart, because we understand the inner mechanisms of our aspect. You observe and understand and form answers regarding that aspect and learn all that you can about it until you suddenly wish you had a bit less of it in who you are. It won't form your personality; we're not heirs or pages, we just know what we're talking about. Which can occasionally bite you back; as a Mage of Mind, I constantly think about choices I should make, and the consequences thereof. Slightly maddening when you build yourself to panicking over what to eat for lunch, right? (Then again, being a person who "fully understands choice and consequence" is a bit different to someone who "fully understands time and possibility", though of all the aspects I think those two have the most similar in terms of Mages).
A Mage can get overwhelmed by their aspect, a lot more so than the Seer who can choose what they want to learn, instead of having experienced their aspect. No one wants to learn about the terrifying facts of the world, the things they'll never be able to change, but Mages get pulled into their aspect in a way that allows (or perhaps even forces) them to acknowledge their aspect and learn all that exists within it. And aspects are the essence of the world, the things to keep the universe running, so having all the knowledge on any of them feels like it'd be... too much, almost, for any one person
So, what about the aspect? What is Time all about?
Well, to be honest, Time and Space are both really difficult to explain; they're the core of reality, how do you explain what makes time? I'll do my best to attempt it, but the three Time players we meet have all very different attitudes towards their aspect, and in general (and I generally refuse to listen to the extended zodiac, which decided all Sagittarius people are overly bouncy and indecisive, which... I mean, it doesn't quite follow not only troll culture and what indigos from actual comic Homestuck are like but also is probably only accurate to one indigo in Hiveswap and it's the one that's Eridan but Worse. I don't listen to what they have to say).
Time, as far as I understood, implores its players to live in the here and now, for all the time travelling they do. They see possibilities, things they want to change and ways to change those things, and are usually intensely focused people (yes, I'm including Dave "derails every conversation he's part of into convoluted metaphors" Strider in this sentiment). Time players are goal-oriented and are great planners; either ahead of time, or on the spot. They try for clever but end up just drawing inspiration from the world around them; opposing the out-the-box thinkers of Space with confirmed knowledge to make sure the thing would happen they way they want it to. Sometimes, that knowledge comes from research, or past experiences. A fully realized Time player would probably use their knowledge from other timelines, either by meeting alternate selves or by visiting those alternate timelines to see for themselves. They're also fiercely independent people- not in that they won't ask for or accept offered help, especially in a game like Sburb or Sgrub that relies on multiplayer co-ops. If they know that they can't solve a puzzle on their own, so be it, they can ask the resident Seer for help. But if they know a failed attempt or two won't hurt, they refuse to just be given an answer; let them wear themselves down, in that case. They'd get the answer on their own, or go looking for it elsewhere, but they don't want help with the first attempt.
That all means the Mage of Time might not be all that prone to overthinking. They have the potential to look at the options laid before them, and make a calculated choice. They can see the world unravel before their eyes, and dissect it to little timelines and possibilities and choices they never made, and feel like their timeline is the one they're bound to, and that's that. However, they're not immune to the endlessness of Mage knowledge, and can accidentally fall down the rabbit hole of possible timelines. Maybe this isn't the right one for them, and they wish they could have changed that one thing, taken or passed up on any one thing to make something- their life, the life of a loved one, a small insignificant exchange to get a friend in someone who doesn't even know them in their current timeline- change. That's a dangerous road to go down, and unfortunately, the game isn't real (and if it is, for the love of any god that may or may not exist, someone send me a download link). They can't god tier and go back to change this one thing, and this Mage, who thinks about "could have"s and "should have"s and whatnot, they'll only get hurt down that path. To quote a pretty overplayed Disney song from what is apparently a decade ago, the past is in the past. Let it go. Be a new you, look forward for the future and see what you can change, what you can do, right now.
All that said, I think we can do a short moment to talk Evil Mage of Time. The rambling is surprisingly short this time around; maybe the few weeks I took off while my internet was down made me rusty (apologies for that, by the way, life decided to kick my butt and I kept going "oh I'll just answer my ask later" but then I got a new ask the other day and for once I've got stable internet connection so here we are, right?). I'm putting a ~keep reading~ function here for this bonus bit, then.
So, I honestly can't really see a Mage of Time being downright evil at all- that sounds... exhausting. Planning out everything for when your coplayers try to take you down? You'll exhaust yourself thinking up all the possible paths your opposition can take and end up driving yourself up the wall with madness.
However, if a Mage of Time made a mistake in an alternate timeline? If this other player betrayed them, or cost them the game? This is payback. Not evil coming out of nowhere, this is revenge for something that, as far as the other player would be concerned, never happened. It's unwarranted, but maybe becoming the villain of a session is the only way to prevent the other timeline's tragedy from occurring. Maybe it isn't, and yet the fury from the other timeline seeped through so thoroughly that you can't overlook it- they wronged you. This isn't on you, but on them. Good luck explaining that to other players without sounding entirely crazy, though.
... And for the record I still think being evil would be too tiring to be worth it. Not to dictate the emotions of an evil possibly-oc, but the planning it'd take to not doom the timeline, get yourself killed, or do anything else that's bad (say, the thing you're trying to prevent by stopping this other player) and also complete your goal at the same time? Too much effort, if you ask me. Which you technically didn't, but also you did go to my askbox so... take that as you will. Sorry this was late and also I hope you like it? ^^"

hi i feel like projecting my life onto eridan ampora
wwww ok this ended up being super long lmao funny
ok so eridan empora is one of my fave characters from homestuc, even if i kind of hate him (((for uhmmm killingpeoplelolzies uhmmm, i can't like, 100% hate him
when i first saw him in the comic i was like, "OMG he's a big meanie" in a like very bad way ok, the reasons are very childish lol(my bestie is an aquarius and he's norhing like eridan :b...), but after looking into him i just went like, "OMG he's a big meanie", but now in a "good way" :v
So, we all know eridan. very big ego, he loves magic he ain't wanna admit it but i know he does... everyone hates him for being an asshole (snd they are right), racist mf, wants to fill his quadrants and very obsessive about it ig. now, i want to talk about a part of eridan's personality, personally what makes me like him and relate to him.
ok so we all know that being a kid and growing up is hard and nobody understands (btw true), and i think is harder when people just hate you. like, you go anywhere, and they hate you. that's what eridan goes through, every trolls hates him (and they do have reasons lol)))), now, what you need to do for pwople to stop hating you? change?
Personally i've been through this situation, everyone fucking hates you no matter what you do, "there's really no way of winning if in their eyes you'll always be a RACIST ANNOYING MF SEL-FISH BITCH". Now, of course i wasn't racist lol, but i totally was at some degree a fucking asshole. they hated me a lot, they just insulted me or ignored me for no reason, and if i tried to talk to them and say sorry they would just like, tell me to fuck off. at those times i didn't know how to handle it, this wasn't a uncommon situation, this was something that happened always, no matter the place or people, so i was frustrated and depressed because i didnt know whst was wrong with me, so because i didn't know how to be better, i just started to be worse. i just started insulting too, being annoying too, because being better felt impossible, despite how hard i tried they would just insult me again and again, despite how much i complimwnted and tried to improve myself i just went to the same place, so i just became completely irregular, started insulting and then complimenting, etc etc im sorry i went off track
so like, i feel that's kind of what happens to eridan. everyone hates him, and despite trying to be better, they would just insult him again, so he just sticked with his villain persona. he started insulting too, being racist and uhm claiming he will do a genocide lmao(((, but he wants to be friends with them anyways, karkat is the closest person to him, and he also has a good relationship with kanaya, and both of them are landwellers. I don't think he really believes in the hemospectrum, as i said he is friends with "lowbloods" and stills flirts with a lot of trolls below him (in the hemospectrum, and flirts w humans too?? i dont remember lolzies) Anyways, i think he was having sum times like i used to have, but i grew up from it (and now im a sollux kinnie, a miracle or a punishment?) and he just digged himself deeper in hate and now he is... well, eridan ampora :b
i dont think going through bad times excuses shitty behavior. i totally understand feferi breaking their moiralliance because not everyone can deal with it, its hard being with someone who refuses to improve himself. personslly i would stick w him but that's because im a bastard and i think i can fix people (actually is because theraping people doesn't exhaust me so im a good person to vent it won't make me sad its ok,,,, unless they commit suicide i i i i would die man i) but i understandthat being with someone like eridan or myself it's hard, we have the fact that people hate us so marked in our hearts that we refuse to think otherwise, and, for me, that even if eridan wants to, he feels its impossible to improve himself, at least that's how i used to feel at those moments. i cant express it im sorry but it's fucking hard ok :"v
wow ok this is huge uhm did you know eridan is trans? or sollux. y'know thwre's this huge text talking about eridan and his daddy issued w shrek, and at one part he says that sollux lusus won't missgender him or deadname him, but now somebody says that was just eridan self-projecting his issues to sollux and actually eridan was trans not sollux, so now they are both trans go trans people! also i think i might be bigender mmm sorry what was this post about

Could I get a session analysis for a session with a mage of blood (prospit), knight of light (derse), prince of hope (derse), rogue of space (prospit), sylph of time (prospit), and heir of mind (derse)?
Okie dokie, let's see the players:
Mage of Blood: Active knowing class. One who understands blood or understands though blood for themselves.
Knight of Light: Passive serving class. One who serves light or serves with light for others. Represents what the session lacks. Also responsible for protecting the Space player during frog breeding.
Prince of Hope: Active destruction class. One who destroys hope or destroys with hope. (Eridan my belovved)
Rogue of Space: Passive stealing class. One who steals space or steals with space for others.
Sylph of Time: Passive creation class. One who allows creation of time or allows time to create.
Heir of Mind: Passive manipulation class. One who is changed by mind or is changed through mind.
So, good news: you have a Space player, which makes this session viable for completion! Bad news, however, the session is going to lack the aspect of Light. This could show itself in a couple of different ways, A: The session is incredibly dark, making it hard for the players to see the world around them, B: The session lacks knowledge, with the players never fully realizing the rules of Sburb/Sgrub, or C: The session lacks luck, with every unlucky thing possible happening to the players.
Now, let's look closer at our players:
Lets start with our Frog Breeding duo, the Rogue of Space and Knight of Light. The Rogue of Space would have difficulty breeding the frogs, as the frogs won't be found on their planet, but the planets of other players. They would have to use the gates to travel through the session, stealing the frogs they find. The Knight of Light would assist the Rogue by serving them knowledge. They could serve as a scout, finding the frogs for them. Overall, they make a solid team easily prepared for the challenge of breeding the Genesis Frog.
Now we have our time player, the Sylph of Time. As a Time player, they would be responsible for making sure time loops occur the way they are supposed to. The Sylph of Time would have a hands-off approach, letting things happen the way they happen. While this is certainly risky, allowing time loops to play out on their own could work out great.
While this session lacks a Seer, it does have a Mage of Blood. The Mage has a deep understanding of relationships, but for themselves. They could easily be the team's leader, as they are able to get along well with everyone. However, they would not be able to really help others with their knowledge, meaning if there was a falling out in the team, they wouldn't be of much help.
There really isn't much to say about the Heir of Mind. They are a very logical person, and they could make a great strategist for their team. I could see them being difficult to work with if they were arrogant, but if not, they would make a great asset to the team.
Now for the most dangerous player: The Prince of Hope. We all know just how dangerous this player can be for the team, destroying any and all hopes for success and survival. However, despite these dangers, they could be a great ally, using the power of Hope as a weapon. The Prince of Hope can really make or break this session.
In all, I can see this session going really well! The Frog Breeding players have excellent synergy, and the other players have really useful skills. While the Prince of Hope could cause problems, the players could likely still prevail.

I simply have too many headcanons and scenarios for Sollux. I can't have them all for me, so take them.
* He's actually one of the shortest in the group, but the others often forget it since Sollux uses his psionics to levitate all the time. When Eridan said something about it, he kicked him in the bulge and said "idk what youre talking about, man".
* He often wears flower crowns he made himself to attract bees, then add them to the others at his hive. When Kanaya found out about this, she decided to create different clothes with (real) flowers in them for him.
* When karkat was at his hive once, he hurted himself by accident and was in full panic because Sollux saw his blood. But then he said "oh, didn't know you were a blue blood. cool" and the thing kinda died there. Sollux is colorblind.
* Aradia goes to adventures alone sometimes, and disappear for weeks or even months. When she comes back, she always brings a different diary with her and give it to Sollux. However in the diaries there isn't written what happened in those days of adventure, but there are a lot of selfies of AA smiling while incomprehensible stuff happends in the background. No context, no explanations.
* Sollux, Eridan and Karkat meets for DnDs campaigns. But half of the time is just Sollux making fun of Eridan and Eridan getting angry while Karkat still tries to have "ONE FUCKING NORMAL NIGHT, GUYS! ONE!"
* Sollux is really the master of troll monopoly. Basically no one want to play with him, exept for Vriska (those were the only times Sol and Vris ever interacted actually), but this changed after Aradia's death.
* Sollux sometimes takes Feferi to "boat trips". Basically, he fill a bathtub with water and make it fly around.
* Every troll can purr, but since Sollux is so used to the sound of bees, he never learned to purr and instead buzz like a bee (it is still very rare to hear him buzz).
* When the bees produce too much honey, Sollux gives it to who he cares about. When the honey gets bad, he gives it to who he hates with a note saying "for you <33".
* Sometimes Sollux's voices become just too loud and he can't think or focus to anything else. When this happends, he calls Karkat, who brings a book with him and then proceed to read it very loudly, until Sollux feels "better". That's actually how Karkat started reading terrible romcoms.
* When he became blind, he tried to "see" like Terezi did, but only when there wasn't people around. He ended with a rock in his mouth and swallow it.. He never tried it again.
* Kanaya used to call Sollux for an "extra help" with her clothes. Sollux learned very quickly and started to sew every skirt Aradia has.
* Terezi and Sollux likes to roleplay as cops. They go around and arrest random trolls for random reasons and that's how they get punched in the face often times. They won't stop playing anyways.
Probably others I can't think of now lol

One of the really interesting things I've done now that I'm in my mid twenties and my frontal lobe has shown up to the party has been going back and re-reading/watching media I was into as a teenager and seeing how my opinions have changed
Generally, what I've noticed is that I look at things with a lot more nuance. In the past I've had some very black-and-white views of certain characters or dynamics. If I really related to a character I tended to side with them 100% and view anyone antagonistic to them as completely bad and in the wrong. Revisiting this stuff has me softening my opinions on a lot of characters, though not necessarily to the point where I like them or condone their actions. Conversely, there are characters who seem so much worse to me than they did when I was younger and understood less of the world
Homestuck is a pretty good case study for all of this. I was pretty into the discourse side of fandom for a while, and I had some takes that I look back on and disagree with now
I really related to Jake, and honestly still do. I did the whole black-and-white thinking thing with him, and hated Dirk because of it. And don't get me wrong, I still don't like Dirk as either a character or a person. Now, though, I see that whole situation with a lot more nuance. One day I'll write all my thoughts about the Dirk/Jake/AR dynamic and my thoughts on the whole clusterfuck, but mostly I just think Dirk let his abandonment and control issues take over and ended up hurting Jake. And I can also acknowledge that Jake isn't a perfect angel, he's a complete dick at times and his own issues got in the way of communicating honestly with Dirk about his feelings
There were other characters that seemed so much worse than I remembered them. Fascist incel fishboy Eridan is a good example. Re-reading his parts of HS was deeply disturbing because he's the fictional alien equivalent of a white supremacist. As a teenager I mostly dismissed Eridan as a side character I didn't care about, but as an adult I have a lot of feelings about the way the fandom sanitized and romanticized him, and I'm disappointed in my younger self for not recognizing the racism in that
Then there were the cases where my opinions were only strengthened. I hated Vriska then and I still hate her now. The biggest difference there is that I can better articulate why, and can defend my position more easily. A big part of that has just been gaining a better understanding of ableism and unlearning the toxic proto-radfem shit I was exposed to on this site as a kid (no, it's not misogynistic to say that a girl assaulting, abusing, and murdering a disabled boy is bad)
I've already written a bit about the Vriska and Tavros dynamic and the Jake and Jane dynamic from this new perspective, and I'll probably write more if and when I have the time and energy. If you were into HS as a teenager and are now in your mid twenties or later, I encourage you to try re-reading it to see what changes for you. It's honestly kind of enlightening

I love all the artists and cosplayers (for their hard work) but the general hazbin hotel fandom sucks ass (they have no media literacy)... NO MORE ALASTOR CIRCUS THEORY
Vivzie sucks!!! The plot is all over the place(literally what is even going on)!!! The pacing is way too much(introducing 3+ characters every episode)!!!! The only good character in the show is sir pentious, everyone is annoying (no swearing challenge impossible)!!! The music is only good bc living tombstones but that's it!!!!
Long rant ahead
ALASTOR'S LAST NAME IS NOT ALTRUISM YOU YOLKLESS EGGS!!! ALSO THE WAY PEOPLE LITERALLY WOULD BE LIKE "I LOVE ALASTOR BUT HATE VAL" AS IF ALASTOR ISN'T A SERIAL KILLER CANNIBAL... BUT APPARENTLY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SA IS WORSE THAN LITERAL MASS MURDER ACCORDING TO THE FANDOM???
Like how are there actually ppl living and breathing who can watch 2 episodes of a character doing absolutely nothing but trauma dump and then say "omg look at the growth!!!1!" WHAT GROWTH???? A character will literally do the most basic thing like not let a friend interact with their abuser and apparently that's "growth"???? You can't be real with that! Like nothing was established before for there to be any known change other than the trial implying so, and even then that implication is meaningless because it was established in the same episode that they had no idea what is even going on (as in in-lore they, the characters, had no idea)... Also why TF did they just pull cannibal town out of their ass for the end of the season, there was no plot significance for that other than to introduce more characters... Even if there was supposed to be a significance it doesn't matter because they don't even try to explore it. They barely explore most of the main plot. the entire show is all like "omg angel dust, omg angel vaggie, omg evil angels, omg angels die, omg more evil angel, omg small angel, omg angels angels angels", call me eridan ampora for how I don't give a fuck about these darn angels... Like are we supposed to care about what the main plot is or are we supposed to just care about angel dust and vaggie's trauma?? Like cool, the Vees are annoying AF, but WTF is new? Great, Camilla mommy milf, what next? Literally random shit just happens and everyone is like "omg this is so cool and makes so much sense" when it doesn't??
The main plot should not have to fight with 4 other side plots and too many characters are fighting for the spot light. I still feel like cannibal town was a waste of time!! They could also just slow down the pace of the plot by not going angel crazy in the first place. You could introduce the bigger bad last by leading up to it, you already have the Vees to worry about as a group of antagonists, why introduce the angels so early on??? There are no punches, no reveals of interest, like vaggie being an angel?? Why are we even supposed to care???? It's supposed to be a big deal but Charlie literally gets over it immediately after cannibal town...there are too many reveals going on in general... Anyways whatever

Karkat: Open memo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Author commentary: Here's the first time we learn of Gamzee's aspect. It's Rage. Ya can't just give that away and expect people not to go, oh, he'll probably turn into a murderclown. (They probably still wouldn't have suspected their sweet, soft clown of any future wrongdoing, who are we kidding.) Actually, even the trolls didn't suspect it while knowing his aspect, since Karkat says here they all thought Bard of Rage was a joke title. To help us all freak out about this a little more, Karkat "reminds" us of how deadly Gamzee can be by citing his crazy, out-of-the-blue attack against the Black King. In doing so he provides some interesting color about how that battle went, which doesn't serve much purpose except to feed your headcanons somewhat on that event, as well as send the message "Gamzee is actually really strong under the right circumstances, and oh, also Vriska is too FYI, but you probably already knew that." Then Stoned Gamzee pops into the conversation like an idiot, and Karkat basically treats him like a completely different person than the one who did the murders. Which he sort of is. But also Karkat has grown accustomed to treating past and future versions of people he talks to as individuals who are completely distinct from each other, especially when it comes to himself. The bottom line is this "warning" Karkat tries to issue via memo obviously turns out to be completely useless. It serves a similar purpose as to when someone in a horror movie is trapped by the villain in a deadly situation and tries to call for help in some way. Like they make it to a phone and call some people, but frustratingly those people either don't believe them, are preoccupied, or the signal is bad, etc. I guess the "funny spin" on this trope here is that the people he's trying to warn or get help from are the very people both committing the murders and being murdered, from different points on the timeline, and they're all being similarly useless in frustrating ways per the aforementioned horror trope.
Here Karkat starts talking to another murderer who doesn't know he's a murderer yet, and who frustratingly doesn't believe Karkat when he tells him about it. It makes sense that Eridan doesn't believe him, since Karkat's talking about his future magic wand, and Eridan is on record as knowing magic to be fake. It's not that frustrating he doesn't believe Karkat though, because if he did, then that would change the past, resulting in this turning into a doomed timeline. But wait a minute... Now it seems like everyone is suddenly dying, so... How could anyone be sure this isn't a doomed timeline resulting from just such an intervention? What exactly is preventing Karkat from suspecting he's forked off somehow into a doomed timeline, resulting in the systematic demise of his friends? (Aside from the fact that he's probably too freaked out to consider that possibility.) If this were a doomed timeline, that would mean it's possible the right thing to do would be to try to alter the past via Trollian and set things back onto the rails of the alpha timeline, which is basically what happened with Davesprite. He, a strict product of a doomed timeline, is instrumental in the course correction which the alpha timeline needed to continue. Okay, I'm probably starting to slightly confuse myself, whilst massively confusing you. The bottom line is, even if Karkat did think "This is a doomed timeline, and I need to fix it," it still wouldn't have worked, because this isn't a doomed timeline. It's the alpha timeline, and everyone dying here is just normal-doomed, not doomed-doomed. There's a clear distinction between those things. If you're doomed-doomed, it means you're living in a non-viable timeline, which is running its course and tapering off into oblivion, sort of as a means of Paradox Space keeping itself tidy. But if you're just normal-doomed, it means your death was an important event in the long chain of authoritative actions which were all necessary to keep reality itself propped up. So does that mean it's better to be normal-doomed than doomed-doomed? I'm not sure. I guess you could ask some ghosts about it. Though chances are, the normal ghosts don't feel substantially more honored than the doomed ghosts for having died a relevant death. Mostly they stop caring about any mortality issues at all, and get back on their bullshit as soon as possible upon entering the dream bubbles.

hey! this is AGM's alt account btw :) it's me, col!
i'm sorry i missed posting date yesterday! this is my first fic where i'm giving myself a schedule lmao
to make up for it here's a sneak peek of the next chapter while i get it finished up to post later today!
Context: Dave is wearing gray converse, KK is wearing red
“Hey,” Dave starts, in a voice that makes it sound like he’s just had a eureka moment, “we’re matching.” Karkat stares at him, flashing back to the train of thought he’d had earlier, when he had been brooding in his loneliness and melancholy. Matching outfits. It’s nice. Even if they’re not dating, it’s still something off of Karkat’s prom checklist. He fights the blush that threatens to come to his cheeks and he’s pretty sure he’s successfully forced it down before he replies.
“What do you mean?” he asks, knowing full well what Dave means, but wanting to hear the boy say it anyway. He’s always found Dave’s voice vaguely endearing, and, obviously, much more pleasant to hear than his own scratchy voice that makes him constantly sound like he’s just recovered from a cold.
“I mean,” Dave says, “my color is red, and yours is gray, right?” He has the dignity to lessen his smirk a little bit, ears coloring pink in a small display of embarrassment that Karkat only just barely notices. “So, you’re wearing my color, and I’m wearing yours. Like in all those cheesy romance movies, where the couples are always wearing similar outfits to show their devotion to their partner. Not that we’re a couple, of course, I was just saying that because that’s the first thing that came to mind. Fuck, man, why is the first thing that comes to mind for me always something incriminating or uncool or gay? Seriously, I really need to work on that or Rose is going to have the time of her life when I go on a ramble next. Not that she doesn’t already. Yeah, the other day…”
Karkat leans his head against the wall, letting himself zone out for a bit as Dave rambles on and on about a Freudian slip he’d made in front of Rose, and about his brother, and his bro’s boyfriend, and everything and everything that comes to mind. He thinks about the days before Gamzee went berserk and nearly killed Terezi and Equius, before Terezi and Vriska found that body in the woods and Terezi went blind and Vriska lost an arm, before Eridan became a sore loser who nobody could stand and then grew out of it, and before their groups’ dynamics shifted so radically. It’s incredible how much people can change in a week. Karkat has witnessed it firsthand.
hi col!!! its cool, life gets in the way of fic sometimes and thats ok.
but HMGMNGNGF literally so excited for this chapter *vibrates*

Why is literally every single design you crank out so gender? I wish I owned most of these outfits. Anyways. Are you opposed to someone making fan fic based off of this AU as long as credit is given/linked backed to the blog in the description and/or author’s notes? I have a lot of ideas about this and ADHD machine go brrr. Also, I’m really curious about how being in a different place in the hierarchy changed these characters’ personalities. Is Equius, like, less Like That? Is Vriska more cautious? Do they have the same lusii or are those different as well? What about the clown cult? Many questions.
Aww, thanks! I suppose mine's rubbing off on my work. (/j) And, by all means, go right ahead! I'd love to see what you can come up with.
Lusii are mostly the same, aside from spidermom and Gl'bgolyb. Gl'bgolyb is now just a large, grouchy cuttlefish. Some of the trolls interact(ed) with them differently- for example, Tavros mostly hates his dad and think's he's a coward, Equius looks to his like a father instead of a well-liked servant, and Vriska didn't bother feeding hers, killing her pretty young and passing off a wild scorpion lusus as her mom when needed. She is a tad more cautious, though that's mostly Terezi's doing, and it's less 'she is innately more like that' and more 'she has gotten herself into bad situations enough that she opts to sulk instead of just doing whatever she wants to most of the time'. When someone she cares about's concerned, she still goes right back to acting without thinking, and she can still be incredibly vindictive.
Equius is still very vocally in favor of the hemospectrum, but he doesn't really believe it like he does in canon. He's overly cautious, and incredibly hesitant to step out of line or be seen questioning anything for fear of the consequences.
As for the others:
Feferi's much less confident, and can be quite skittish. She still wants to change Alternian society, and wishes 'culling' was something nicer, but she can't see herself as ever having the power to do that, or much of anything at all. She's generally plagued by a sense of helplessness.
Eridan's still stubborn as hell, but she actually respect's other peoples' wants and needs, instead of feeling like she's entitled to whatever she wants from people just because of her blood color.
Kanaya primarily acts the same, but her intentions are different. She can be pretty damned condescending, and her meddling usually has more self-interest involved, even if she doesn't actively seek to hurt people unless she really feels they deserve it.
With power and status, Tavros' low self worth and hero complex turned into a massive sense of entitlement and inability to handle feeling weak or being criticized. Instead of withdrawing and burying himself in feeling worthless, he pretends he's a perfect being and lashes out against anyone who threatens the image he projects.
I'd say Karkat's basically the same since only one aspect of him's changed, but. The aspect that has changed is his constant fear for his life, and that is a pretty fucking big part of his canon self. He's still loud and cares deeply about his friends, though he's prone to accidentally ghosting them every so often or forgetting to ask them about things that he really should've gotten their input on.
Gamzee acts exactly like canon when high, but when sober, while he can still be terrifying, the rage and violence is only really a concern if you're threatening him. When he's not in 'desperately try to defend myself' mode, he's just exhausted and hopeless.
Aradia's still incredibly friendly, enthusastic, and fascinated by all things morbid when she's relaxed. However, she is never relaxed, as she's far too busy focusing on being a better heiress in hopes of winning the spot, so others are more likely to think of her as irritable or obsessive, instead of optimistic or sociable.
Terezi and Sollux act pretty similarly to canon, though Sollux can be blunter and a bit more self centered, and Terezi pretends to be less weird around people she's not friends with. Nepeta is also pretty similar, though much more capable of malice. He also doesn't listen to everything Equius says, only really going along with him if he's actually convinced.
The clown cult still exists, specifically as an accidental creation of the Great Swindler. He painted his face to hide scars that might identify him, and instead of explaining, he'd come up with elaborate stories of clowns and carnivals and such when asked about it. When a cult formed around the idea, he encouraged it, and it ended up continuing to grow and evolve after he died. There's clowns that aren't purple, though not many, as well as plenty of purples that aren't clowns.
