hi jaiden. i read your ask and im very sorry about your loss, i've decided to spread some positivity. you are an incredible writer and as much as you cringe at your older posts i find myself rereading it every now and then. its kind of crazy how i'm quite young, and i've been growing up with reading breanna's story - yet i haven't lost interest. there is something so aesthetic about your standstill posts, i dont know if its the colors or the dust, but its so pleasing to the eye. literally everyday after my work i go and i check if standstill has gotten an update. the way your dialogue is written is so natural. like it doesn't feel like this fake poetic or overly descriptive, it sounds like natural realistic dialogue. and ive also been reading your character bios and in my language there's a word called härlig, thats the only way i can describe the little bios. for it being a sim story, its so incredibly clever and i can tell you put effort into it. the poses are always fitting. and your game doesnt even look like sims. i hope you realize that we will always enjoy your story even if it would be with low graphics or vlad would be a 8x8 pixel. so dont ever shy away from taking a break, because u really deserve to take a break. there is so much i could say about standstill,, but i wont for the sake of it already being quite lengthy! i hope your healing, and i hope that you can accept some positivity into your life. <3

wow okay hello anon... i won't lie, this made me cry a lot ;-;. i've been really struggling lately with intense anxiety and honestly just feeling really shitty ha. reading this means so much to me, more than you will ever know. it's silly ik but i put my heart and my soul into my sims, it can be a little embarrassing bc they're literally just sims and here i am pouring every piece of me into them like they're my diary, taking it so seriously. but like........ i do take it seriously.......embarrassed as i am to admit it..... i love them so much. so reading something as kind and reassuring as this makes me feel really appreciated. thank you for your kindness, it's more appreciated than you will ever realize

(diff anon but since you invited) so it's interesting that 1) Alex was at the seance at all, and 2) that she was the only one Stilton didn't have a complaint ready for. But he knew Hypatia, right? So Alex was camouflaging herself to him through all that? That says interesting things about her capabilities for subtlety. What's up with that?

good question! and one i don't entirely have proper answers to, because the timeline and circumstances for her attendance of the séance are either vague or a mess, but it's fun to lay out the details and speculate.

the most glaring problem with alex attending the ritual is that... she didn't even exist yet. the séance took place during the month of rain in 1849, but according to vasco's diary, alex wasn't even created until the month of high cold in 1850. this is most likely a simple developer error, but it makes piecing together her overall timeline unnecessarily difficult and renders the whole séance thing needlessly perplexing.

the manner in which she attended really isn't clear either! there's evidence pointing both to hypatia being the one to initially attend AND to alex (as herself) being the one to attend throughout. there's woefully little detail.

when you talk to her on the dreadful wale after mission 3, hypatia will say "we visited aramis stilton—i liked him—but... something bad happened." during the interaction.

this bit of dialogue points toward hypatia being the one to go at first, quite likely just as herself, fully conscious rather than being puppeted. she formed her own opinions on the matter, particularly noting that she liked stilton (even smiling fondly as she says so), which i highly doubt is a sentiment alex would ever share. it also implies this is her first time meeting stilton, which i find odd and pretty disappointing given their shared interests and numerous similarities. they seem like already-knew-each-other-before-this friend material and i could definitely see them collaborating on helping miners.

but neither stilton nor his staff or the guards have a peep to say about hypatia. not a single mention or allusion to it. it's always "the duke, the grand inventor, and the royal curator" and variations/mixes thereof. hypatia's pretty famous and well-regarded, so if she was there, why does no one make even a vague note of her presence (especially while repeatedly listing all the others)?

on the flip side, alex has a couple weaker points of potential evidence:

in a letter regarding the ritual, breanna briefly notes a sighting of an "exotic hooded figure" entering the manor. this one has two possibilities: either it's alex, or it's emily/corvo. to spare you from an entire overly complex explanation, the evidence leans more toward it being the protagonist, but it describing alex remains a possibility and also i'm biased and would like to believe it's about her.

whether or not that's the case, her supposed absence could indicate that she wasn't even there for most of it. she could've been waiting outside or hiding somewhere until it was time for the ritual or something like that, hence the lack of any mention of her. if she was there, surely there would be some remarks about this exceptionally odd woman with gray skin and glowing eyes who has probably been drooling on the carpets and growling at passersby. keeping the literal crown killer away from the view of guards and guests would of course be a logical thing for the other coup members to do. not really sure on this one, but i do find the thought of someone like alex being forced to go through this posh little rich people party without tearing anyone apart to be highly amusing.

given her nature and the whole "no restraints" thing, how calm she acts during the ritual is noteworthy and odd. she just... stands there, comments once, and complies with everything we see without trouble. it seems like she can rein herself in when necessary, i guess? this post from a now-inactive rp blog has some pretty good speculation on the matter in that first paragraph (tl;dr "alex was 'young' and curious at the time and wasn't quite at the level of ferocity we see in-game").

as for the prospect of alex "camouflaging" herself as hypatia, that's very much possible and there's strong evidence of it elsewhere in the game! alex can and does act as hypatia when the need arises, which is primarily shown in vasco's audiograph, where he greets hypatia in relief as she enters before realizing it's not her. it's not that he didn't recognize alex physically, it's that alex purposefully disguised herself as hypatia to briefly put him at ease before she struck. the script files (thank you @/mozzarellamint) for this audiograph in particular confirm it too.

she also utilizes it during hypatia's idle dialogue (physically still hypatia, but it's alex doing the talking for the latter half of it), and uses it again just before she attacks you in her intro cutscene, where she walks up to the window as hypatia to stare at you before transforming and throwing the shelf. considering that evidence, i think she'd be quite capable of acting as hypatia during the visit to stilton's—though behaving herself for that long may be another story entirely.

this ties into something i hope to make a proper post on in the future: alex's intelligence, use of tools and science, and her very real capability of planning ahead. she's far smarter and more crafty than most expect!

apologies for the overly meandering and probably-not-quite-what-you-were-looking-for reply but hhhopefully this provides something of substance? it's difficult to give concise or definitive answers on this particular topic unfortunately :/

Weeks and weeks of planning for this perfect day, days of doubt, nights of restlessness. No one has ever informed of the weeks leading to marriage, I always thought it was the most romantic time, the days go by slow, and you can’t sleep at night because you’re so excited.. Well that was some what true. Sometimes it felt like a 24 hour day was 120 hour day, but other days felt as if it was a 2 hour day sometimes even shorter. The weeks leading to marriage were the most dramatic, most weird feelings I’ve ever felt. I was stressed about everything arriving on time, I was worried that my then fiancé maybe didn’t want to marry me at all. So many worries with too little time. Looking back I think I worried for no reason at all.

“I do!” I shakingly answered the priest. “YES” my handsome man interrupted. We kissed signed a few papers and it was over... we... we were married! We were one.

We are now exactly 5 months into our marriage and it’s absolutely amazing! It’s felt like a life time. We have hard times, but we always get through them. My husband and I are genuinely best friends! Diary post #6 .... and again

I... don't even know where to start...

My last post about my baby sister.. I had kicked her out for not going to school, bringing in makeshift weapons, a pipe and pushing drugs in the 3 day span of staying with me. She didnt take it very well and told me that I wasnt her sister anymore along with a lot of other not so nice things. That was in June.. anyways... fast forward to October me and my older sister start to really worry because no one has heard from her. We ended up going to file for a missing persons report and a couple days later she was picked up loitering in one of the shadiest areas of the tricities. Which was fine, cause atleast we knew she was alive they let us know that she appeared to be in very good health. November hits and we still hear nothing from her till around the end of the month when my older sister gets a phone call from a police officer who found her number in our baby sisters records. She had been picked up on a possession charge and he was wondering if she had ever been diagnosed with any mental health conditions.

My older sister went to visit her and she said that it was pretty bad. The officer said that it was text book sex trafficing. And they think that the drugs had triggered schizophrenia. She spent weeks in jail because she was not compliant enough to go to court. She spent a lot of time in restraints. And they didnt want to charge her, they wanted to get someone from emergency services there and have her evaluated. But even with the evaluation she could still refuse help and they would have to let her back on the streets.

A few days later we got some good news. She was court ordered to spend atleast 2 weeks in an impatient program for mental health. So she was sent to lourdes. I talked to her on the phone a couple days ago and I went to visit her face to face yesterday.

I have only cried in public 4 times in my life. And yesterday was one of those times. When i saw her i was so overjoyed i hugged her for a solid minute. But when i looked closer at her it was strange. It was like she was there and she wasnt. I sat to talk to her and she was convinced that they where pumping poison in the air. And she kept stopping mid sentance then she would tell me what the fan was saying to her. She thought that one of the other patients in there was my dad and was telling me about how she thought he wanted to date her. And how when she was in jail she met all of these people through the walls and how she gained her AA degree when she was in jail for being a doctor. That when she told her "daddy" (her pimp) that she couldn't suck dick anymore that he started to beat her. I mean.. i could go on and on.. but the one thing that really caught me off guard was right before i left she asked me if there was anything personal I wanted to ask and I said "not unless you feel like you need to tell me something" she said that she loved me.. and that she wasnt Breanna.. that she was my dad.. and started going on about all this weird stuff and how he was using her as a vessel.. i had to leave after that.

They are waiting on her court date right now because they want to transfer her somewhere more long term. Shes not getting any better where she is now and they can only hold her there for 2 weeks. So now we are just waiting on another court date.

Santa Fe school shooting: Pakistan exchange student among victims

An exchange student from Pakistan is among the first named victims of a Texas high school shooting.

Ten people were killed and 10 were injured at Santa Fe High School when a student opened fire. The suspect is Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17.

The embassy of Pakistan in Washington DC confirmed that student Sabika Sheikh was among the dead.

Substitute teacher Cynthia Tisdale was also killed in the attack, her family told US media outlets.

Mrs Tisdale’s niece and brother-in-law both confirmed the news. Writing on Facebook, John Tisdale said his sister-in-law was an “amazing person”.

Sabika Sheikh, aged 18, had been on the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study Abroad programme (YES). The programme is run by the US state department, and was set up in the aftermath of the 11 September 2001 attacks to bring students from Muslim-majority nations to the US on a cultural exchange.

Her parents, Abdul Aziz and Farah Sheikh, told the BBC they heard about the shooting through television news.

They said they confirmed their daughter’s death within an hour by speaking to school administrators. Ms Sheikh’s body would be returned to her home in Karachi early next week, they said.

Other victims, believed to be mostly students, are expected to be identified by Texas authorities later on Saturday.

The attacker, Dimitrios Pagourtzis, was arrested and charged with murder. He allegedly used a shotgun and a revolver taken from his father, who legally owned the weapons.

What happened during the attack?

Students said the shooter entered an art class and opened fire shortly before 08:00 (13:00 GMT) on Friday. There were 1,400 students in the school at the time of the attack.

One student, Breanna Quintanilla, told AP that Mr Pagourtzis walked into the room, pointed at someone, and announced: “I’m going to kill you.” Ms Quintanilla was wounded in her leg as she fled.

Officers stationed at the school engaged Mr Pagourtzis. One of them, John Barnes, was injured. He was in a critical condition and undergoing surgery, local media reported.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the teenager “gave himself up” because “he didn’t have the courage to commit the suicide”.

So far this year, more than 5,000 people have died in shooting incidents in the United States, according to monitoring group the Gun Violence Archive.

The aftermath

Hundreds of people gathered at sunset on Friday on a large open lawn near the school for a vigil.

The sound of preachers and politicians was intermittently drowned out by wailing and sobs from attendees, the BBC’s Paul Blake said.

How does it compare with previous school shootings?

The Texas attack is the deadliest school shooting since a student opened fire in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people.

That assault spawned a nationwide youth-led campaign for gun control, and a litany of proposed changes:

President Trump moved to ban so-called bump stocks, used in last year’s Las Vegas shooting

Congress is considering the Stop School Violence Act to provide increased security such as metal detectors in schools

Mr Trump has endorsed arming teachers – a long-held position of the National Rifle Association (NRA)

Gun control advocates have criticised what they see as minor changes amid continued support for the NRA from leading politicians.

The worst school shooting in US history occurred at Virginia Tech university in 2007, where 33 people were killed and 25 injured.

There have been more deaths in US school shootings so far in 2018 than there have been deaths in the US military, according to an analysis by the Washington Post.

What do we know about the attacker?

Authorities said journals kept by Mr Pagourtzis, 17, showed that he planned to carry out the attack and intended to kill himself afterwards.

But Mr Abbott told reporters that, unlike several previous mass shootings, authorities had not been alerted to Mr Pagourtzis before the attack on Friday.

“Unlike Parkland, unlike Sutherland Springs, there were not those types of warning signs,” Mr Abbott said. “We have what are often categorized as red-flag warnings, and here, the red-flag warnings were either nonexistent or very imperceptible.”

Mr Pagourtzis suggested in social media posts that he was an atheist and said: “I hate politics”. On 30 April he posted a photograph of a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Born to Kill”.

He is being held at Galveston County Jail on a charge of capital murder.
