I must have not been paying enough attention to the earlier episodes of The Second Citadel because I somehow never registered thar Sir Marc was disabled until just now listening to E5 E11... the whole dipdang series pretty much, and I never realized until he talks a little more in depth about his saddle that he made to keep him on Dampierre.

I feel silly about how badly it went over my head.

Probably not gonna happen this season, and also given last season's 💀✨EVERYTHING✨💀 it is pretty much irrelevant, but I'd honestly love to meet Tal and Marc's parents.

I want to meet the people that took Rilla into their home and raised her, despite the dark reputation of her exiled parents and her own interest in magic.

I want to meet the people who helped Marc find creative ways to stay mobile with his disability. Given that they're from the carpenters' quarters, I'm guessing they're ingenious builders themselves and I'd love to see the things they're proud of making.

And, most of all, I want to meet the woman that bashed a bully's head in with her elbow and then elbowed his dad too just to make her point. Where is my new kick-ass mom to worship??? Where is she????

I think until this episode, I was under the impression that Marc would come around but with the most recent episode it looks like that’s not happening. I get that he finally was able to win in the system that beat him down for so long, but I just kinda thought he’d do the right thing eventually for the sake of all his friends. I mean really, his basically sister is dating the people he’s trying to kill. The venom in his voice right before he left settles everything though. He never even tried to change, not really. Prejudice is something you need to unlearn, and everyone is a casualty of their upbringing, but they all gave him ample time. No wonder they weren’t talking to him season 4.

you know, I was relistening to Head of the Janus Beast today, and had a thought. what if Caroline is going to be the one to convince Marc to get his head out of his ass already ultimately side against Tristan?

they always had narrative parallels going on, what with both of them not being taken seriously by the knights and desperate to prove themselves no matter what. that is literally the first thing we find out about them! in the very first second citadel episode! in a way, Marc is undergoing a nearly identical arc to Caroline, but with a delay. now that he's powerful and respected, he is actually more or less in exactly the same position as she was in season 3. you know, the season where she realized just how much the knights suck and left?
