limited life is about caring and indifference okay listen to me its about what matters to you if anything does

skizz, both at the begining and even post his 3 deaths, that he should be kind to people because they only have so much time. that you should make sure what little time you have matters

scott killed someone. who happened to be skizz. as soon as he could. before people could start caring. before things started to matter

they rerolled boogie *because* it happened so fast. because there was no suspense. it didnt matter.

bdubs killed skizz as soon as he got boogieman. because he figured, hes already down, just a little more wont hurt. but also because to bdubs, skizz doesnt matter. hes not on his team. why should he care.

martin, in the same exact situation with all the same reasons. does not. hes apathetic to the opinions of the others or the risk it would be, but choses not to because hes sympathetic to skizz's plight.

he kills bigb later. not out of malice but out of necessity. it didnt matter who he just had to and bigb agreed and forgave him

martyn is also very indifferent in regards to alliances. this is the first season without rendog, who he allied with in one way or another every season before. now he doesnt even have that, and despite agreeing to an alliance with with scott (atleast thats how scott interpreted it). martyn still considers himself on his own. even saying as much to bigb and pearl.

joel is very indifferent to others. killing other peoples cows just to do it. wanting to get boogieman for the fun of it. digging straight down even after hearing lava and after jimmy died to it first (he could have just built back up. but he stuck with jimmy even in death)

so is jimmy but a bit to the left. hes egging him on the whole way through but he still cares. he'll hit his old soulmate but will apologize while he runs off

tango didnt care about the appology, still vowing to get back at them alongside etho

etho is indifferent to the other TIES. disconnected. more attached to grian and bdubs. both of whom are either directly hated by the ties like in bdubs case. or grian, member of the bad guys along said enemy of the ties joel and jimmy. (though etho also shows an amount of allegiance to ties, attempting to steal cows from bdubs for ties while hes distracted, though being scared off by cleo before he could)

grian asks why anyone would bother burning down the mansion, after all it was about to be reset anyway.

that is exactly why cleo burnt it down. knowing that by next session it wouldnt matter.

death happens so often this season because they can afford to die. they have time early on.

they can be cruel to each other because they've been through 3 seasons of this already. they know how this goes. and more than ever they know that its going to end. that no matter what they do, there is nothing that they can do

at the end of the day nothing you do will matter. unless you make it matter yourself. do you bother?

Summary:

Ren let out a sympathetic noise and reached out a hand, only to find that he was too far from Martyn to touch him.

Limited Life, which was won by Impulse, has drawn to a close, and with the dawn of the next seasons approaching, Ren is at the forefront of Martyn's mind. Somehow, in his absence, Martyn has convinced himself that Ren couldn't possibly love him anymore. Maybe, even, that he had chosen to forget him and all the pain he brings. And when Ren does return for Way Life, and the consecutive three seasons, Martyn scrambles for the smallest of crumbs to prove his truth.

With the odds stacked against them, though, Martyn finds himself always drawn back to him, whether by mechanics of the game or by what seems impossible chance. Time and time again he proves himself willing to go very far to believe his own lies, especially when the truth is something far more painful, though he will have to know it eventually—that he was, and will always be something that Ren would do anything, anything, to protect.

hi hi i have so many Thoughts that i will definitely miss Something but. lots of things. spoilers for ep1 under the cut obvs.

why is every ship getting crumbs. literally all of them. what is wrong with everyone wtf. (except treebark. treebark girlies stay losing)

new mechanic is insanely hype and i am going a little bit feral over it. i've been wanting a UHC-style season for a long time and this seems a great way to kind of. entertainment-fy it i suppose? cus as much as i wanted straight up UHC i can totally understand why players like joel or skizz or scar would struggle hard in that sort of ruleset and it wouldn't be very fun to watch as a result.

i'm a bit.. tentative about the more acknowledgment of the Lore this time around? On one hand i love it and i think it's incredibly cool but on the other hand i know well that lore can eat a series alive if let out of control. Especially when fans start getting pushy about their theories and disappointed when inevitably things aren't as explained or thoroughly confirmed or straight up forgotten. (<-- fnaf fan. i have seen it. it is horrible)

that being said i have trust in grian specifically to handle it well and not go off the deep end with it cus a good chunk of the viewers don't know/care for the lore and if it becomes a Big Thing then a lot of people are gonna end up feeling alienated and confused.

i LOVED Bigb's episode and i think it's like. the ideal way to incorporate lore into a series like this. the way you can Feel that something is off rather than it being explicitly shown. you can choose to write it off or dig deeper. it's good juice. I've mentioned this before but I'll say it again -- Bigb is easily one of the strongest roleplayers on the entire server and his editing REALLY sells it hard. He really melts into what's happening rather than getting up on a platform and shouting THIS PART IS IMPORTANT. LOOK AT ME. which i really appreciate as a kind-of honorary former theatre kid.

but yeah tl;dr i think lore/fan theories should be left to the fandom mainly otherwise it starts getting weird. that being said i trust the life series ppl and can't wait to see what's going on with this season.

now if i may be unhinged myself. i def agree with the theory that Something is up with Bigb's task and maybe whatever gave it to him is trying to mess with the game.

Bigb and Mumbo specifically I felt were acting.. a little OOC the whole episode? Bigb was very much on purpose i think and i reckon mumbo's just excited to be back lol but its fun to think about

the task system has a lot of potential for. fanfic symbolism fuel. i mentioned this on my spam blog i think but something something about the way the players' tasks almost seem to. mock them? a little bit?

like pearl's being to "earn" people's hearts after she failed to make any connections throughout double life and has been somewhat isolated the whole series. bdubs being known for his efficient and beautiful builds being told to make something ugly and useless. scott being implicitly called a parasite with his history of teaming and latching onto one specific person each season. etc. etc.

the teams this time around are looking interesting and i think it's worth noting how it almost feels like.. the opposite of limlife a bit? with how slow and cautious everyone has to play. it seems like over half the server haven't really even joined up with anyone yet which is intriguing. (im personally praying for a scar/jimmy team up. just cus scott said they wouldn't make it lol)

which is great for me cus i loved limlife but the chaoticness of everything did kind of. make deaths less impactful i think? if i see another sky bridge i might scream

im very. of two minds about the scott and impulse team up. because if you dig through my blog you'll see i have kind of a history of being unhinged about those two and their parallels. but i have the sneaking suspicion that their actual dynamic will be like nothing i had in mind lmao

overall i am very excited but trying to control my expectations

treebark may seem onesided bc martyn drops all the crumbs but it becomes worse when ren cracks and all of his pent up yearning spils out in heartbreakingly romantic ways.

bc martyn is aware of it. he's aware of the meta. he knows about the baiting. he's laughing along.

but ren is clueless to everything and everyone. he's still lost in the story. martyn's surpassed it. ren's still flipping their old storybook and mourning that there aren't more pages without realising he can just write them in
