Incorrect Ttte Quotes 61:
Billy: Ok, be honest. How do I look? Thomas: Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, just bad, just bad, just BAD.

[1963]
The twins were still resentful towards each other as they pulled into the yard. They overheard Sir Topham Hatt talking to Toby.
“There simply isn’t room in the schedule. I would have to loan another engine, and I doubt Duck would take kindly to such arrangements. I almost wish we had another engine-”
Sensing a chance to get away from Harry, Bert perked up. “Send me, Toppy.”
Sir Topham Hatt didn’t seem particularly amused by the nickname, but chose to ignore it.
“I appreciate the enthusiasm and …perceived work ethic, but I need one engine, not two.”
“Then there’s no problem, sir. I am one engine.”
“Won’t you two miss working together?” Toby inquired. “You work together all the time. I’d certainly miss Henrietta if we were split up.”
“That’s cause you’re all sentimental - and probably senile.” Bert said the last part louder than he’d intended - not that it mattered to him. “I’m great workin’ on my own.”
“Then go, then.” Harry growled. “Work’ll move a lot faster without you gettin’ in the way.”
“Is that why you pushed me into that lorry?”
“You pulled me!”
“Enough!” Sir Topham Hatt bellowed. “Bert, I will let you work alongside Duck at the Coaling Plant - provided you maintain good behavior. I can and will send you back to the Ironworks on the first offense. Am I understood?”
“Perfectly, sir. Wouldn’t have it any other way.” And he scuttled away, before Harry could comment - or realize he’d been left with Bert’s trucks as well as his own.

General TTTE Headcanons
No engine in particular this time, just stuff I’ve been thinking of lately.
- The reason we don’t see BoCo anymore is because he was sent to help out a heritage railway on the mainland. He was meant to come back ages ago, but general shenanigans on said railway have kept him there. You’d almost think that they wanted to keep him there...
- Thomas will never admit it, but the DOWT engines wig him out a bit. There’s something about so many engines dressing up as him that doesn’t quite sit right. And don’t get him started on the dummy units in the States.
- Nia actually has some experience with railway shows, but she has a low opinion of most show engines because of it. Once, the Great Railway Show was being held in Kenya, and Nia was chosen to take part in the shunting competition. Unfortunately, most of the engines there that year were rather rude and unsportsmanlike.
- There’s an old saying about mountain engines: “You can take the engine off the mountain, but you can’t take the mountain out of the engine.” And no engine exhibits that more than Ashima. She loves the fresh air, the dizzying heights, the weight of the coaches against her, and the view from the peak. Honestly, she would live on a mountain summit if she could.
- Nia sometimes puts her work before her own needs. If she’s working with an engine who’s giving her a hard time (i.e. Dennis or the Ironworks twins) or she has some sort of mechanical issue, she’ll often put more focus on getting the job done on time than her own health.
- Bill and Ben stayed blue all the way up until Timothy arrived. When they realized the new engine had ‘their’ color, they threw the biggest hissy fit they could until they were painted yellow again. Some say you could hear the noise all the way from Edward’s station.
- Theo was actually built by Ruth when she was visiting the UK. But something came up and she had to go back to the States, so she left him in the old yard with Lexi and Merlin until she could come back. She meant to come back, but by the time she had the chance, he was working at the Steelworks.
- Long before Great Waterton was abandoned, a fireless engine worked near the mines. There was no sign of them when the town was being rebuilt, but Thomas swears up and down that he heard something during his adventure in Morgan’s Mine.
- Percy and Nia 100% teach each other swears. Why, imagine the Fat Controller’s surprise when he overheard Nia calling a particularly rude stationmaster a... well, I'm not quite sure it’s fit for print.
- Billy has proven that engines can survive underwater. He had an accident similar to Percy’s at the harbor, only Billy slipped much further into the sea. Luckily, they were able to fish him out.
- Engines can will themselves to grow facial hair. Not suddenly like Dennis from SpongeBob, of course. But they can decide if they want it. Flying Scotsman actually had a rather distinguished looking beard in the mid 70′s.
- Whiff used to have contact lenses, but everybody - himself included - was squeamish about putting them in. In the end, it was decided that glasses were easier for everybody.
- Bridgette Hatt grew up to be Toby’s driver, but he didn’t recognize her at first. It wasn’t until she jokingly asked if he was electric that he finally realized who she was.

Ttte Headcanon #9
Billy wasn't real. He was apart of a bad nightmare Thomas had after using a bad batch of coal.
Whiff, however, is real, and helps alongside Diesel 10 in keeping Sodor clean, whenever they work together.

The Manning Wardle L Class saddle tanks really were cursed with having been made into characters that either the majority of the fandom hate (aka Billy) or are just indifferent about at best (aka Charlie).
At best indeed. I hate to say it but I've seen Charlie get a lot of hate (not as much, ofc). If he hadn't been displaced by Philip on the annoyingly-chipper-o-meter it would probably be worse.
And yeah, true that. But on the other rail, how many classes got more than one character (who weren't explicitly twins)?

[1957]
Still cross with Gordon, Duck went to Edward’s station to help out there.
“Hello, Duck!” Edward beamed.
“Yo,” Billy added, unenthusiastically.
“That famous engine came through this morning. She whistled to me! Wasn’t she kind?” The blue engine continued.
“She’s the finest engine in the world.” Duck replied, a wistful tone in his voice. His demeanor then quickly soured. “It’s a shame Gordon doesn’t.”
“Because people weren’t giving him their full attention?” Billy sniffed.
“That… about sums it up.” Duck agreed, surprised he and Billy had actually managed to find common ground without an argument.
“Take no notice.” Edward soothed. “Whatever Gordon said isn’t worth giving attention to. He’s just jealous, like Billy said.”
The rails began to shudder as a deep rumbling could be heard in the distance.
“Look,” Edward sighed, “here he comes now.”
Gordon came soaring past the yard, looking fit to burst as his wheels mercilessly pounded the rails.
“She did it, I’ll do it! She did it, I’ll do it!!” He panted in rapid succession. His train rocketed under the bridge, and quickly disappeared beyond the station.
“Sounds like Gordon’s trying to pull a ‘City of Truro’.” Billy snickered.
“I should hope he’ll knock himself to bits.” Duck grimaced.
“It may not seem like it right now, but Gordon is one of our friends.” Edward interrupted, severely.
“Define ‘our’.” Billy retorted.
“Neither of you should wish harm on any engine on our railway, no matter how… immature they may act.” The blue engine scolded.

Dumb little realization I had earlier, but isn’t weird how each era of the show introduced an orange and green engine? Murdoch in season seven, Billy in season eleven, and Nia in the BWBA movie.
Like, it’s not mind blowing or anything, but it’s such a weird color combo to reuse.
