Blue text is for when Agent Felix talks
Purple text is for when Lampkeeper talks
Classic text is when I/The Narrator am speaking
Red text for Dr. Zor, Orange text for Hivemind, Yellow text for Charlie Caliente, Green text for John Juniper.
These all take place in the IEYTD universe.
Felix lore:
Agent Felix joined Zoraxis's team when he was just a little kid, probably about third grade. If he went to school, lol, which he didn't.
He just wandered around a town all day, doing whatever he could to learn. Zor found him- Zor was about mid-thirties at the time- and just straight up adopted Felix. Zor gave Felix lessons on basic stuff like reading, math, etc., basically just all the elementary school stuff- except it only took 2 years. Zor, obviously, was surprised so he gave Felix some options and Felix chose technology.
Zor gave him everything he could to Felix on the subject, and by age 12, Felix had the technology expertise as a mad scientist. Felix started doodling after Zor adopted him, the doodles being very happy in general. Over time, they got.. concerning.. and Zor didn't know what to do about that.
Eventually, as more people joined Zoraxis, the more Felix was left alone with his little inventions. Occasionally, Zor, Hivemind and Charlie visited him (and were the only ones that celebrated his birthday), rarely Solaris for business. Felix loved Hivemind and Charlie like family.
The death engine was built when Felix was thirteen years old, him being oblivious to what he and Solaris were building. Agent Pheonix had seen him during Operation: Seat of Power, and recognized him as a kid.
When the death engine fired for the first time, Felix was devastated. Maybe a bit traumatized. He hated himself for being so oblivious to what he built. He didn't talk, eat or anything for days, even after he heard that Agent Pheonix had stopped the Death Engine. In fact, Felix felt worse becuase people had died.
Pheonix came back after a day or two of recovery and brought Felix to the agency. The agency convinced Felix to join (hesitantly) and almost gave up after ten minutes until Felix finally said one word: "okay". His mental recovery lasted 2 weeks, his fourteenth birthday two days after. His drawings started returning to a happier-looking state during the time. Felix waited a month and a half for agent training to begin, and when it did, it was too slow to match his learning pace. Regardless, he did what he was told without complaint. ...until they gave him a bomb to diffuse.
They knew perfectly well he couldn't diffuse bombs. They gave him one anyways. He had to run to other agents to find someone who could diffuse bombs. Felix was trying to figure out for days why they gave him a bomb. No clear answer was found.
Felix often has regrets leaving Zoraxis, since he misses everyone and he misses being useful. Usually he just looks at his shirt and he no longer has regrets, but recently it hasn't been working. He has a lot of conflicting emotions. He tries to stop the regrets by telling him stuff like "it feels great to be good" (as you know) and stuff like that. They've been working, but not much. The agency is constantly worried he'll switch sides again, but they don't know what to do about it since they don't want to get near him.
Felix doesn't know it, but Zor, Hivemind and Charlie miss him. Zor has had his eyes on Felix since he left and has been hoping he'd come back. The whole John Juniper thing was half-planned in hopes Felix would be sent on a mission. (I'm listening to This Is What Autumn Feels Like right now and it's throwing ideas like this at me ashgdhwhdhend)
Then Felix gets kidnapped, he runs away, you know the drill if you were reading/involved in it. He came back worse than before, almost back to his old state after the death engine. His memory was a little more messed up and he has major trust issues.
The end :]

what inspired you to write The Kingdom of Heaven?
*laughs in "so much"*
When I was 12 years old I was part of an environmental science program where our teacher, a super scary stern gray-haired woman, taught us very emphatically about the dangers of overpopulation. We first of all learned about the notion of "carrying capacity" (a valid science for animal populations which can't control their consumption of resources or spatial needs) then did some bogus math to determine the exact carrying capacity of the Earth to support humans.
It turned out the Earth couldn't support more than 9 billion people or something like that. (By the way we didn't take into account fishing as a food source, or obviously any potential future improvements in farming practices, or, or things even 12 year old me could think of etc.)
After finishing this we learned about the Earth's supposedly exponential rate of population growth, how the stable rate of reproduction is approximately 2.2 children per couple (that is, per woman) or something like that, and then after THAT, we all sat down at a long table and she asked us to write down and then say out loud how many children we wanted to have when we grew up.
I think there was only one person in the class who dared to say more than "2", after all that. Most people said they didn't want to have any children at all.
*
How disappointing is it that I spent my entire childhood wanting to "go to the forest" when like 60% of my state is covered in forest? I guess part of it came from not being able to go outside as a kid, because of fear of kidnapping by strangers etc., and when I finally did, being shocked that it was actually right there the whole time not far away in some fantasy land. *
When I was 16, I was in a "health" class where we undertook the section of the class meant to deal with body image, eating disorders, body positivity, etc. As a matter of fact, at the time, body positivity was just coming into vogue, and the teacher wanted to prove to us that fat people were unfairly oppressed... a point that could have been made in any number of ways... but here is what she did.
We were all given a sheet of paper with three sillhouettes of women on it, and there was no difference between them except that they were horizontally stretched. Underneath these images was a checklist asking us to rate which of the women was most beautiful, most successful, most intelligent, etc.
We were distributed this paper face down, told to turn it face up and had 3 minutes to fill out this questionaire. The idea was to get "impressions" and "not to think too hard about it".
Does this seem engineered to produce a specific result?
It gets worse. After the time was up (my protests about how this didn't make sense were ignored, so i just gave random answers) the class's answers were tallied to prove that each of us had subconscious bias against fat people. Imagine: forced to judge, then judged for judging. Collective guilt, public shaming. It was only later I learned these were actual brainwashing techniques developed by the Soviets.
*
Children can sense when something is unfair, but they don't have the tools or vocabulary to articulate when they're being literally brainwashed.
Imagine what it's like to go from being a Christian homeschooler from a family of 6, having at least dabbled in co-ops as well, at the home of a family with 12 kids, to sitting in a high school or college classroom. A classroom where it's at least loosely insinuated if not outright stated that ~those kinds of people~ (your kind) are backwards, uneducated (where you learned to read at the age of 4 and have been reading classics since you were 10), racists (where your colorblind ass shared a playpen with black kids who you later shared a history curriculum with, believing that you were living MLK's dream) xenophobes, (where you learned eagerly and with interest about the history of cultures all over the world as though they were your own) and basically the scum of the earth. * "The Kingdom of Heaven" is basically a vision of the world as I see it. The plot has a fair bit of factional drama, but ultimately is based in trying to tackle false slander of the Christian community head-on, while also seeing the "other side" as people. While heavily based in my own experience it also is built around spiritual themes and messages that will be pretty hard to miss.

Some of my favourite passages from the GQ article featuring Charles Leclerc:
Leclerc, an alert and adroit 24-year-old from Monaco, got only as far as one of the entrances when he first came here. He was 11 or 12 at the time, brought along by a family friend who worked for Ferrari, but he was unable to enter the complex. “So I sat in the car park for two hours,” he remembers, “trying to guess what it was like inside. I imagined Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, y’know? With Oompa Loompas running around.”
In the hangar, as classic cars are spruced and renewed all around, I ask him about that juvenile first image he had of the Ferrari compound. He once pictured Wonka-like magic taking place beyond the gate, industrious Oompa Loompas everywhere. Has the adult reality been underwhelming, set against an adolescent’s imagination? Leclerc, in answer, gestures around the garage, where seamstresses restitch ancient leather seats and a convertible worth $8 million has been plucked to bits by mechanics, its engine forged over from scratch. Wonkas, Oompa Loompas all, the employees here help turn unlikely ideas into something tangible. “It’s beyond what I imagined,” he says.
In a pristine hangar that’s devoted to the restoration of collectible Ferraris, a white-haired crew of veteran mechanics whistle to express satisfaction at the current state of affairs. Their swift boy racer, Leclerc, is a special favorite.
Leclerc’s famous good looks are sleeker and more polished than those of his teammate. You can easily imagine him as the prioritized singer in a boy band. He is well-liked by colleagues, and insists he would race in a lucky golden necklace that his mechanics clubbed together to buy him if not for the fire-safety regulations that forbid F1 drivers their jewelry. “When you’re seven years old, you win two races in a row, you think you’re unbeatable,” Leclerc says. “My father told me: Always be humble, even in good moments, and especially when you feel you are unbeatable.”
Every team in F1 fields two drivers. Except in rare cases, one or the other of these drivers is favored internally. There is a number one. There is a number two. While Ferrari insists that they do not have a number one driver, it appears to those on the outside that Leclerc is the preferred son, and Sainz, older by a few years, must play sidekick.
Racing, Leclerc agrees, offers the ultimate reset. He was a teenager in Formula 1’s feeder series when his beloved father, Hervé, passed away. Leclerc entered the next scheduled race, days after his bereavement, and won it, Brett Favre–like. You sense these drivers will bear losses, disappointments, and indignities Monday through Thursday, as long as they get to pare away the blues at 200 mph on the weekend. For Sainz, the minor insults are everywhere if he cares to look. Handed a stack of pristine baseball caps in the garage, he scribbles his signature on the far side of each peak, automatically leaving room for Leclerc’s name to appear before his own. Although they are practically the same height, a cut-out tableau of the two drivers in central Maranello romantically imagines Leclerc a whole head taller.
And were Leclerc to win the title for them!…You feel sure this kid would do it with qualities much lacking in Maranello: a bit of cheek and an appreciation of F1’s absurdity. Like many elite competitors, Leclerc has a high tolerance for repetition, technical data, seated strain; yet to his credit he has not let this deaden a mischievous streak. As soon as he gets his helmet off, postrace, he likes to look around the weighing room and see from the other drivers’ faces, Who’s up for a chat? 🦁😂 When he was about to win his first race of the 2022 season, this past spring, he radioed his pit crew to yell that he’d suffered a mechanical fault (no-o-o!). It seemed like he wouldn’t make the finish line after all. There was a moment of stunned horror in the pit wall. Leclerc was messing with them. Never make this kind of joke again, he was ordered.
“So it’s tough on my mother,” Leclerc says. “And I don’t know what to tell her. Other than: I love what I do. There’s nothing in particular I can say to make her feel better. I’m not going to say I’ll be careful. That wouldn’t be true. I’m going to give it my best, whatever. She knows: It’s a dangerous sport. It got massively safer through the years. But it will remain forever a dangerous sport.” Leclerc offers an incongruous smile. There’s a faint piratical glint in his eye. “She knows,” he says, “I’m the happiest once I’m in that car.”

ROUND 1 POLL 2
31. Lisa (They/Them) @when-you-meet-a-businessman
They're very big in xenoarchaeology, chemistry, and hydrodynamics, as well as engineering. I know engineering doesn't count as science, but they do do experiments and craft minacous, mad scientist type weapons. Lisa has a very loud personality, and if often categorized by outsiders as just a quirky and optimistic teenager, partially due to presenting themselves as a frinzied scientist in order to be taken seriously. Lisa can be very risky but they also occasionally experience shutdowns/meltdowns and long periods of depression and anxiety. The reason Lisa studies xenoarchaeology is because they're special interest is aliens. Lisa is also very into cats, bright/alternative fashion, kandi, cars, dodads and the whatnot. Lisa is (currently in the narrative) undiagnosed with autism and stims a lot in both positive and negative manner (ex: flapping hands, chewing items, smashing objects, they're stims come in a very drastic range). That's kind of it, Lisa isn't too complex, they're just very silly! Also they have PTSD from being an orphan for 8-12 years, okay, THAT IS IT. (I have to stop here, my phone is at 4% as I'm typing this.)
2. Vendetta (Vennie) (Any Pronouns) @can-of-wormz
Vennie is a certified biology freak it loves its bonesaw and making home decor out of preserved hearts and skulls etc. Most of what they do is for fun but they also credit themself with Scientific advancements… and for the 19th century, their research *is* quite advanced! Despite his obsession with dissecting people he loves his daughter, who gladly assists his projects, and would do anything to protect her. Other hobbies include playing piano and shopping for little trinkets, such as fancy clocks. Its personality is essentially a classic flamboyant Disney villain with maybe a tinge more unhinged-ness. It is also very queer for an emo cowboy (aka the protagonist of the story) (they want to kill eachother soooo bad) Tldr he’s a murderer but also a good parent who loves sweets and treats <3
Relevant Links: playlist: https://spotify.link/lPZuFF1fZyb - includes general themes of gore & some drug mentions

Glen Lockett, the in-house producer and engineer for legendary punk label SST Records who was better known as Spot, has died, former SST co-owner Joe Carducci announced. Spot had been on oxygen after his fibrosis impaired his lung function in late 2021, and, three months ago, he was placed in a hospital following a stroke, Carducci revealed in a Facebook post. Lockett died earlier today (March 4) at a healthcare facility in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was 72.
As the longtime in-house producer for SST Records, Spot helmed the boards for essentially the crux of ’80s American punk rock. He produced more than 100 records, many of which are bonafide classics in the punk and hardcore world and have gone on to influence artists outside of the genre. Highlights from his body of work range from numerous Black Flag staples like Damaged, My War, and Jealous Again to Minutemen’s The Punch Line, What Makes a Man Start Fires?, and Buzz or Howl Under the Influence of Heat. Spot also produced Descendents’ Milo Goes to College, Hüsker Dü’s Zen Arcade, Misfits’ Earth A.D. / Wolfs Blood, and Saint Vitus’ self-titled debut, along with additional records for those bands and others.
Born Glen Lockett in Los Angeles in 1951, Spot was raised by his Native American mother and African American father, the latter of whom was a Tuskegee Airman who flew British Spitfires. He grew up listening to post-bebop jazz, surf rock, Motown, and whatever music he could find on the AM radio. After learning to play guitar at age 12, Spot tried his hand at clarinet and even auditioned for Captain Beefheart. It wasn’t until years later, when he offered to help with a recording studio build, that he learned about the ins and outs of studio recording.
Before he became an integral part of the SST sound, Spot was a musician, not a producer. While waiting tables at a vegan restaurant, he met Greg Ginn, the future co-founder of Black Flag and SST Records, and the two started jamming together in his band. After witnessing a Black Flag show gone awry, Spot decided he wanted to work the board on their next record, a decision that would result in a lot of “head butting” and, eventually, 1980’s Jealous Again. The rest was history.
“[SPOT] spelled his name in all caps with a dot in the middle of the O,” Carducci wrote on Facebook. “He started in Hermosa Beach playing and recording jazz and he took the primacy of live jazz playing into recording bands against prevailing attempts to soften or industrialize a back-to-basics arts movement in sound. When approaching the mixing board SPOT would assume an Elvis-like stance and then gesturing toward all the knobs he would say in a Louis Armstrong-like voice, ‘This is going to be gelatinous!’”
In addition to his work as a producer and engineer, Spot was also a published photographer and freelance writer. He wrote record reviews for the Los Angeles weekly newspaper Easy Reader. During shows, Spot would carry his camera around to document punk bands, fans, and the burgeoning counterculture scene, and he began photographing Los Angeles skateboarding circles as well. In 2014, he released Sounds of Two Eyes Opening, a collection of his photography work from that era.
“First and foremost, I’m a musician and everything else I’ve ever done has been based on that,” Spot told Vice in 2014. “It’s really the basis of all language and if you’re serious about the experience of music, you learn to keep both sides of your brain open and rely upon instinct rather than premeditation. Y’know, using improvisation and gut feelings as frameworks for rhythm and composition. In photography, the viewfinder should not be a limitation—it’s merely one part of a larger vision.”
Several artists have shared tributes in Spot’s honor after learning of his death. “good people, we just lost my old buddy spotski, a terrible blow,” tweeted Mike Watt. “he recorded the minutemen’s first stuff, I go way back w/this man. brother matt took this shot six years ago when spotski came to visit our pedro town... man, this is a terrible blow. I love you spotski forever.”
“SPOT always encouraged free expression and experimentation, even as those recordings were made as expeditiously as possible,” Hüsker Dü’s Bob Mould wrote on Twitter. Mould added that the producer “was a wonderful soul who loved making music, documenting the scene, and unconditionally supporting all the projects that bear his name.”

Modern au chapter 5 is up
Hi! I stayed up all night writing this one, I think it’s the longest chapter of the fic so far. This chapter does contain some triggering content including: the aftermath of r*pe, blood, injury, and discussion of trans bodies.
because of that content I can only post a sliver here so you will have to read the rest on ao3.
Link is as always: https://archiveofourown.org/works/37983421/chapters/109687444
“You want shotgun or you wanna sit in the back? Up to you cupcake,” Jack said. Rhys considered for a moment, on one hand the back felt safer, more secluded from outside, on the other hand, Rhys would probably get carsick if he sat in the back.
“Uh front I guess, I’m probably gonna bleed on your expensive seat though” he said, stumbling to the passenger side.
“It’s fine kitten, I’ll get it cleaned later,” Jack said. Tim took the back seat as Jack slid into the driver’s seat.
“Word of warning, he kinda treats the speed limit as a speed suggestion,” Tim said from the back. Rhys laughed a bit.
“The tickets here are so expensive though… how have you not gotten caught?” Rhys asked. Tim snorted and Jack chuckled.
“Oh Rhysie, I’m to much of a badass to get pulled over,” Jack said. Then he floored it, ripping through the residential streets.
“So where’re we going again? I thought we were headed to your place,” Rhys said.
“We are, don’t worry you’re pretty head over it,” Jack said. Rhys blushed. All of Jack’s cute nicknames and sweet talk made him feel something in his chest. As the trio left the city, Rhys’ curiosity flared up again.
“Wow I didn’t think there was anything out here honestly,” Rhys said, well there was one thing out here, the giant blurred out patch on ECHOmaps. A lot had been speculated about that patch but nothing ever confirmed. Military compound maybe? A secret corporate research site? It had long been the subject of workplace rumors. Vaughn, his friend who worked at Hyperion, swore it had something to do with the mysterious CEO of the engineering giant. For his part, Rhys didn’t really care, so long as the car didn’t bump into any escaped experiments on the way to Jack and Tim’s place.
“Long commute haha, what’s it been? 30 minutes?” Rhys said, trying to make light of the situation.
“Oh absolutely, I mean, Timtams how many miles you got on that truck now?” Jack said, flicking the turn signal and turning onto a side road that Rhys hadn’t even noticed.
“Oh man, gotta be a few hundred thousand by now,” Tim said.
“Man, I drive… well drove, s’pose i’ll be finding a new place again, like 10 minutes to work.,” Rhys said, the realization of his impending move coiling around his lungs and splashing in his stomach. He idly gazed out the window and into the thick trees surrounding them. Where were they?
“So Rhys, you’re always talking about work, how’s that going for you?” Tim asked. It was clear he was trying to distract Rhys but Rhys indulged him.
“Oh you know, the same old, one of our board members flipped the fuck out over that challenge from Hyperion, now everyone’s on damage control. It’s really interfering with my attempts to get promoted,” Rhys said.
“Haha classic Atlas, they have their heads so far up their own asses they can’t feel when progress slaps ‘em in the face,'' Jack said, laughing. It was odd that a finance teacher would not only know so much about Atlas’ ineptitude when the Atlas  pr team worked so hard to keep the companies fuck ups a secret, but also that he would even take an interest in the tech world. Rhys, wondering how this had never come up when he talked about work before, decided to pry.
“I mean all the tech world is talking about is how ballsy Hyperion is getting, this Handsome Jack guy set the entire industry on its head, what was it 11 years ago, and…” Rhys started.
“12, kitten, 12 years ago,” Jack corrected.
“Right.. But uh he’s just gotten more and more confident these past years, what do you think about that?” Rhys finished.
“Ho boy, you wanna talk about Handsome Jack, baby? Handsome Jack is the best goddamn thing to happen to Hyperion in all of company history, I mean I’m not sure how much you know about Hyperion stock and earnings and that shit but, it’s frickin’ DOMINATING the market right now,” Jack’s voice rose a bit as he got excited.
“Haha, yeah my friend Vaughn tried to explain all of that to me last time we had movie night but I was sorta too busy trying to watch The Lake, great movie by the way, really fucking scary,” Rhys said.
“Jack… I know you want to keep talking but we need to get Rhys inside,” Tim said, before Jack could chatter on about his corporate hyperfixation. That was something Tim had taught him about when Violet had been diagnosed with ADHD, though for Violet it was unicorns, not the politics of capitalism. Rhys’ thoughts speculating about Jack’s possible ADHD were cut short as he looked out the window. He hadn’t noticed but they were now inside some sort of large structure, filled with cars. Rhys nearly face palmed when he realized that a large structure with cars was a garage.
“I thought you said no hospital,” Rhys said, his voice wavering slightly. His friends wouldn’t lie to him, there had to be some other explanation.
“It’s all good, no one lied, this is just our stupidly large garage where Jack keeps his ridiculous amount of cars,” Tim said, as if that were a perfectly normal thing to say.
“Uh, what? Jack, how can you afford this?” Rhys asked, looking around at the dozens of slumbering vehicles.

RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges by Cleveland
By ED TRAVIS
Cleveland Golf, known as a maker of first-rate wedges, has an addition to their lineup, the RTX 6 ZipCore, featuring redesigned grooves and their low-density core construction.
Fast Facts Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore Wedges Available in 2° increments 46° to 60° Four sole grinds Four loft-dependent bounces Three loft-dependent groove patterns ZipCore construction Finishes: Tour Satin, Black Satin $169.99
WYNTK The ZipCore construction has proven itself in the previous RTX models and in the RTX 6 Cleveland says it has been upgraded. ZipCore consists of a hollow area extending from inside the hosel into the heel and filled with a very low-density material. This shifts the center of gravity more towards the toe and topline of the head. The goal is to make the wedge more responsive to the needs of the particular shot being hit and more forgiving.
The sole grinds available are: Low with 6° bounce for firmer playing conditions and shallower attack angles in the 58° and 60° loft, Low+ (8° bounce, firm turf, shallow angle, 54° and 56°), Mid (10°, all conditions, neutral attack angle, 46° through 60°), Full (12°, soft turf, steep angle, 54° through 60°).
“The RTX 6 ZipCore Wedge may have the classic look on the outside, but inside it’s packed with three technological breakthroughs that give the advantage to the golfer and not the conditions,” says Pat Ripp, Tour Engineering Manager of Research and Development. “All the work put into this wedge, we really focused on finding the perfect balance of versatility and consistency,” Ripp said. “UltiZip is a notable example. Without grooves you don’t have a wedge, so we equipped the RTX 6 ZipCore with our sharpest groove radii ever, imparting more spin and control, and now golfers won’t have to worry how their wedge is going to react in certain conditions, they’ll know.”

Why is creating content so important?
Ever since the continuous growth in influence of the digital marketplace and search engines, the digital evolution has forced marketeers to adapt.
Nowadays, the main mantra an SEO agency will repeat is the following phrase of ‘content is king’.
Well, if content truly is king, how do you go from your starting block to the coronation with a list of relevant content ideas?
Like all marketing done right, it comes down to understanding your customer.
Developing an understanding and blueprint of your key target audience can massively help you identify relevant content gaps that help meet their needs at different points in the customer journey. In marketing these are called ‘personas’.
Completing a persona analysis requires both quantitative and qualitative insight from valued stakeholders both inside and outside your business.
Why Create Content for Key Personas?
Once you’ve done your homework on your business’s target audiences, it’s time to look at what information they are interested in and how you can create this for them that also aligns to your business objectives.
If you take this article as an example, I’m using my personas to answer user queries on keyword and topic research.
I’ve identified that my target audience requires digital marketing information that supports their content marketing efforts and building blocks for effective SEO.
The likelihood is that if I can produce quality content that answers these queries, I rank higher and gain more visibility for my expertise and services offered over time.
 How to complete Topic Research
Once you’ve done the groundwork building key personas you can start to quickly brainstorm the key topic areas you think will be of interest to them.
Brainstorming
Like the classic way you’d develop ideas in school, simply use your persona information as a reference point and start brainstorming.
Brainstorming potential key areas of interest can be an incredibly useful exercise to complete.
For example, if I provide digital marketing services, I can be pretty confident that my target audience is interested in hearing about one of the following topics:
·         Content Marketing
·         Social Media Marketing
·         Email Marketing
·         SEO
·         Mobile Marketing
·         Digital Marketing Analytics
·         Marketing Strategy
·         Brand Development
·         Marketing Design
  Google Trends
Google Trends is a great tool for 2 main reasons:
1.   It’s free AND simple to use
2.   It pulls data directly from Google Search – the main source of information you need!
Once you land on the homepage you can simply enter in your topic and press enter.
Google will automatically retrieve all relevant data on this within the US for the past 12 months.
However, should you be targeting users in other countries such as the UK, you can change the country easily with the top left filter (under your topic entered).
You can also change the time length, the category and the search type.
The part I’d consider the most important is the ‘category’. By altering this to one which is relevant to you (e.g. ‘Marketing Services’) you are filtering potential traffic noise out of the data that’s actually useful to your purposes.
This will remove users who are searching for your topic for other reasons.

Stronghold crusader 1 not gaining peasents
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Stronghold Pack came in four flavors: Stronghold, which is branded as the “castle sim that started it all,” Stronghold 2, Stronghold Crusader (plus an expansion pack) and the genre breaking Stronghold Legends. It turns out the game (or rather, the four games that were bundled in the Stronghold pack) was something entirely different, and unfortunately, unplayable. I had assumed this Stronghold Pack was the successor to the original game that I sank countless hours into as a kid. Stronghold got most of my play time, in which you would establish five castles in your kingdom, each producing a different kind of unit, develop their land, manage upkeep, and then eventually get utterly decimated by level-draining vampires. This game came bundled in some kind of “Fantasy Fest” CD, filled to the brim with fantasy, hack and slash and kingdom conquering goodness. Way back when computers that didn’t require ten thousand punch cards to run a program were new, I was a huge fan of a game called Stronghold. Pro tip: Don’t just punch “Fantasy Fest” into a google image search if you are at work Stronghold! Castle building sim! Real time strategy! Armies and murders! You can’t go wrong! I picked up the Stronghold collection on Steam the other day on a whim, which I’ve really got to stop doing.

Maybe someday we’ll have more Bruce Willis shenanigans somewhere else down the line? Today is not that day. While I haven’t put nearly as many hours into this franchise as I have, say, Civilization, I’m fairly confident that I can make up the facts about this game that I don’t know, and no one would be the wiser. I decided to do a review for a string of games that I’ve had the misfortune to pick up recently. Now I know what you’re thinking: “Really, Tophat? Another review for an ancient cult classic movie? Come on, man!” I’m feeling a bit delirious and unsure if I might throw up sometime in the next 12 minutes, and to offset this unfortunate turn of events I spent the past two hours watching Die Hard on Netflicks, because nothing calms the stomach and heals the body quite like Bruce Willis going on a murderous anti-terrorism rampage. That’s okay by me, I am waaay beyond the point of caring now. Movement
After building the base game by following the provided tutorials, I found that the controls didn't quite fit with what I envisioned the game to be.
I opted for WASD controls, which is admittedly a significant deviation from classic Asteroids. However I wanted the player to be able to shoot in one direction while moving in another.
These controls, however, allowed the player character to move off the screen. I considered implementing a wrap mechanic, where the player appears on the opposite side of the screen from which they disappeared, however this would conflict with the level designs I intend to create. So I opted to create bounds that the player couldn't cross. With GDevelop's physics engine, though, this quickly became more difficult than I thought.
The "Stop the object (remove all forces)" action didn't seem to work when the player's x and y positions were checked, or when the player collided with bounding box sprites. The reason for this was unknown, and I couldn't find much documentation explaining, but I suspect it may have something to do with the "Stop" action coming from the antiquated "Physics 1" when the rest of the physics was handled by "Physics 2".
Regardless, I developed a work around in which I manually set the object's linear velocity to 0 when it was situated outside of the bounds. Even still, this created a problem where the player would get stuck beyond the bounds if they collided with sufficient speed. So instead of setting the velocity to 0, I set it to 50. Although this created a kind of bouncing effect like those DVD icons, it was the best result I could manage.
Tumblr media
Shooting
If the gameplay doesn't reward selective shooting, then there is no reason to ask the players to keep the left mouse button pressed - the bullets may as well be automatically shot. So I implemented a mechanic in which the player can focus their aim by holding the right mouse button, making the bullets completely accurate* while also slowing the player's movement. This allows the player to choose when they want to prioritise accuracy over speed, or vice versa.
*When the right mouse button isn't pressed, the bullets fire randomly within a 12 degree range of the intended target using the following action:
RandomInRange((spr_Player.Angle() - GlobalVariable(var_ShootAngle)), (spr_Player.Angle() + GlobalVariable(var_ShootAngle)))
The variable "ShootAngle" could then be changed depending on the right mouse input.

Interview with Chef Jeremy Pang
New Post has been published on https://china-underground.com/2019/12/18/interview-with-chef-jeremy-pang/
Interview with Chef Jeremy Pang
JEREMY PANG comes from three generations of Chinese chefs, whose grandfather owned and operated his own Chinese pastry shop in Chinatown in the 1960s.
After graduating as a Biochemical Engineer and working for various companies, Jeremy went to the Le Cordon Blue Institute, where he had the opportunity to reinforce his food knowledge and cooking techniques. After working in several restaurants and spending time as a travel journalist in South East Asia, in autumn 2009 he established the School of Wok in London, a mobile cookery school specializing in teaching Eastern cuisine to students in the comfort of their own homes.
Official site | School of Wok | Instagram | Facebook
Why did you decide to become a chef?
I had always loved cooking but after my father died and I simultaneously was made redundant in my marketing job, something clicked and I decided it was time to explore my passion for cooking on a professional level.
Over the years Jeremy’s expertise in the Chinese food industry has continued to gain recognition with recent publicity and reviews in the Sunday Times, Delicious Magazine Online, BBC Good Food, ES Magazine and many more.
Who has been your biggest influence?
My father. He loved food, loved cooking and really led the way when it came to exploring new flavours as a kid. He would always make us try to guess what ingredients went into a dish whenever we tried something we liked.
What are the main difficulties in Chinese cuisine? What differentiates from other cuisines?
I think there are two areas in which people struggle when learning how to cook Chinese cuisine at home. The first is preparation, I cannot stress the importance of having everything well prepped and ready to go, especially when it comes to stir-frying. Taking the time to make sure all your ingredients are chopped to the same size, your meat is well marinated, etc makes all the difference. The second is thinking about balancing flavours, textures, and colours when cooking. Unlike a lot of Western cuisines, Chinese cuisine involves multiple dishes being served at the same time, rather than just one plate of food. So it’s important to think about the variety in order to keep the palate engaged and excited.
Jeremy attributes his love of food to his father, who was keen for him to experience exciting flavours and exotic foods while he was a young boy.
Jeremy Pang is head chef and founder of School of Wok In autumn 2009 Jeremy decided to follow his heart and bring the world of Chinese cuisine to fellow food enthusiasts. He established School of Wok in London, a mobile cookery school specialising in teaching Eastern cuisine to students in the comfort of their own homes. Following the success of his mobile kitchen and help from sponsors, School of Wok opened its first permanent professional kitchen in May 2012 in Covent Garden, a well-thought-out location near London’s Chinatown and surrounded by some of the finest restaurants in the capital. Since then, the School has gone from strength to strength, winning The British Cookery School Awards in 2014, and teaching over 60,000 students the secrets of Asian cuisines – right in the heart of London.
What are your favorite ingredients to cook with and why?
During summer, at this time of year when the weather is so beautiful it’s less about one ingredient in particular, and more about choosing items that are fresh, seasonal and vibrant, so they can be easily prepared with little effort, or cooked over an open flame outside. I also happen to love wok cooking over my own home bbq.
Do you have your signature dish?
That depends on who you ask! I have a few dishes my dad loved, that I am particularly attached to and enjoy both cooking and eating; Ginger and Spring Onion Crab and Crispy Pork Belly for instance. But I also have a few classic stir-fry dishes that are well-loved at my school; School of Wok, and then there are those dishes (like Chilli Beef) which got me started back when I was teaching customers to cook in their homes.
School of Wok founder, books author and TV chef Jeremy Pang comes from a long line of chefs and culinary enthusiasts.
What tips can you give for healthy Chinese cooking?
Think about balance; make sure you have at least as much veg as you do the meat on your plate. – When stir-frying make sure to add your oil bit by bit, you probably need less than you think! – When it comes to sauces, a light touch is always best. Especially when working with some of the fermented sauces and pastes, you need less than you think as some of these can have lots of sugar. You want to enhance, not overpower your ingredients. Best to remember you can always add more but you can’t take it away.
Jeremy’s ability to bringing food to life with his catching and relaxed approach has helped to fuel a dynamic specialist cookery school, develop delicious authentic recipes, and create innovative teaching techniques and equipment that are taking the culinary world by storm.
Nowadays a lot of cuisines are living a period between tradition and innovation. Is this also happening to Chinese cuisine?
I think as a whole we are becoming much more food savvy and global, thankfully well past the point of the initial ‘fusion’ food, we saw in the ‘90s. After fusion took a wrong turn people went back to single-origin/regional cooking and started again- so I think it’s all evolving now from a place of knowledge rather than purely from an experimental perspective. There are also lots of new young people who have grown up with more access to food education (tv, magazines, websites, social media, YouTube videos, etc), other than just their parents or grandparents- so they are able to use their own background and really take things forward in a new way.
What other cuisines do you like?
My wife and her family come from an Indian background and I really appreciate all of the spice and flavour layering that goes on in that type of cuisine! Like my father encouraged me to do as a child, I am constantly trying to pick out and guess all of the different ingredients that go into some of the more complex curries and dishes.

Gold Whistle AU Steam Team info:
Featuring; Engines 1 to 8 and 12.
Inspired by @asktrio516 ‘s redo post.
(Quick Note: in the brief Pre-Sodor descriptions all of the Engines are non sentient and faceless, which is why they‘re personalities during those times won’t be mentioned and why they will be called the engine or variations thereof with the exception of Emily.)
Tumblr media
Thomas:
- Thomas was a modified E2 tank engine meant for lighter loads and at the time worked for the LBSCR as the youngest of his fleet, the E2 was sent to Sodor as an attempt to save the last remaining E2 after all the other E2s were scrapped, the engine was given G.D coal a day before being sold to the NWR and on the ship there was told a Lot about the Mainland.
- The Current protector of the Island of Sodor (succeeding Lady). He possess some of Lady’s magic because of this.
- He’s very snarky and is basically the sassy lost child though this kind of leads him to be rather immature and stubborn at times. Thomas is also rather mischievous, playing pranks and teasing literally anyone and Everyone (Edward and Toby are sole exceptions).
- Thomas is rather stressed about his position as Protector and Hero of Sodor, having to deal with D10’s nemesis complex and having to be the main problem solver for certain magical problems and sometimes on Top of his usual work. It Really puts a strain him, he won’t make it obvious though as he just wants to get the job done.
- Despite his ‘problem fixer’ role, he’s not so great with dealing with emotional problems. He’s more headstrong and usually thinks of How to deal with the problem rather than attempt to support the person dealing with it, he’ll Try to provide emotional support but those attempts were rather stilted.
- The Culture of other countries interest him, thats partially why he wants to go around the world and because he finds staying in one tiny island in Britain boring, he wants to see the world outside of the tiny island he’s in. His feelings toward the Mainland are similar but he knows what to expect because to him, the Mainland is just Sodor but bigger.
- He’s really into music too! Mostly rock and classical but he digs all kind of music, he’s currently learning how to play a guitar.
- Became very popular after the RWS books got published and has taken railtours to the Mainland during the books anniversaries.
Tumblr media
Edward:
- Was locomotive that worked for the Furness railway and briefly for the LMS, not much is known about him other than that he was a modified K2 with D21 features (though he is not a hybrid between the two locomotives). The K2 was sent to Sodor to run one of the first standard gauge North Western passenger lines. Whats worthy of note is that he was awakened weeks before Lady disappeared.
- Is often called the railway’s disappointed dad seeing as how he sighs and facepalms every time someone does something stupid. He is however, understanding many people’s problems and often considered the best at moral support. He has issues of his own but he rarely opens up about that.
- During his younger years, he was an Ass. Playing tricks on other engines and staff, being a bit of a smooth talking piece of shit, and teasing other Engines, being pretty much what Thomas currently is. He grew out of it after Lady went missing. He looks back on his younger days with contempt.
- He knows Lady personally, he worked with her during his early years on Sodor and had her as his mentor as well.
- Edward is infamous for destroying hats, he seems to have a hatred for them, He says it’s because he doesn’t want his hair to get “Worse than it already was.” though many suspect he has a legitimate reason for not liking to wear hats.
- It’s very hard to make Edward lose his cool or make him angry, most you’ll get is his disappointed face. However, he seems to snap every time a comparison between him and Lady is made, this is a result of Nick/98462 and River/87546’s relentless bullying towards him and their many remarks about being ‘Lady’s replacement’. So any remarks about it Will throw him off.
- He’s also Really into History, wether it be Sudrian or something else he’ll want to learn more and has worked with the Rev W. Awdry in writing the books.
- He smokes, usually casually or as a stress reliever.
Tumblr media
Henry:
- Henry was/is the a flawed experimental prototype of the A1s, his blueprints were stolen from Sir Nigel Gresley by a unknown locomotive builder. Once the engine was built it proved to possess steaming problems but they can’t exactly scrap it because building it was Very pricey, it was then sold off as an ‘Atlantic’ to the Fat Controller, of course it wasn’t an Atlantic and the Fat Controller had no choice but to keep it due to the Locomotive shortage.
- His personality is a mix of the snarky cynic RWS+Early TV series and the soft anxious Late TV series, snarky cynic being the default and soft anxious whenever there’s heavy snow fall or when there’s something wrong with him.
- Henry has mild Chionophpbia (Phobia of snow) after the Flying Kipper accident, the accident itself costed him an arm. He also has a mild phobia of the rain however it’s not as severe as his snow phobia, he said that the Actual reason he doesn’t like the rain is due to his Already present mechanical problems and he does Not want to them make them worse than they already are.
- In this AU he’s (technically) brothers with Gordon, 87546,and Scotsman and a relative of the other Gresleys. He’s considered a half relative to the Stanier locomotives after his rebuild.
- Really likes playing board games and soon in the 21st century plays Video Games and soon becomes the best gamer among the Sudrian Engines. Has a rivalry with James.
- He’s into Botany, while some details can be rather ‘gross’ to him he will always listen to discussions about Plant life with intrigue.
- Also into gardening, he has made his driver’s backyard pretty looking to the point where it’s basically Henry’s garden (his driver’s cool with it though), his driver said that Henry somehow improved his backyard.
- Henry sometimes doodles on his prosthetic, usually when he’s bored but he will sometimes do it as a way to relieve stress. He’ll decorate it for special occasions.
Tumblr media
Gordon:
- Gordon was the first A1 made in Doncaster, the engine worked as an express train. The green A1 and another would be bought and sent to Sodor where he would then be given Sodor’s coal and work as the mainline passenger locomotive.
- He is egocentric, telling that He’s the most important engine for pulling the mainline express train.
- Thinks he’s a logical and diplomatic engine, in actuality he’s a Leroy Jenkins.
- Though he denies it, he really likes animals, dogs especially, Percy teases him because of it.
- He’s afraid of being scrapped, it’s a common fear but for Gordon it feels like he needs to strain himself to Not get considered for scrap. Gordon fears of having a similar fate as his siblings leaves him Very on edge, he sometimes uses the “I’m a VERY important Engine!” as a bit of a self calming quote to reassure himself that he Isn’t going to be scrapped.
- After learning about the scrapping of nearly all his siblings, he usually tries to keep in contact with his cousins. Though he has a rather rocky relationship with the majority of them and they dislike him for constantly calling. Mallard,Bittern,Ryan, and Scotsman are the only ones who he Doesn’t have a rough relationship with.
- Is in fact, Scotsman’s older brother, Scotsman just calls him ‘little brother’ to annoy him.
- Gordon‘s a singer, He rivals Scotsman in the “how heavenly does your baritone singing voice sound?” department.
Tumblr media
James:
- During his time as a faceless locomotive, the engine briefly worked as a passenger locomotive for the L&YR and LMS before being sent to Sodor. The locomotive was modified for unspecified reasons when it first arrived on Sodor and was also painted in the furness Indian red livery.
- James is vain, vain about his appearance. He’s rather proud about having a livery that’s different from the norm or regular. This is partially the reason why he loves wearing red and was momentarily pissed about Rosie or other colours sharing his colour and refuses to be any Other colour. Pink is an exception, but only if the shade chosen is not eye searing.
- The Golden Whistle originally belonged to a Tank Engine named Theodore, it was first given to Thomas then he gave it to James after the Journey Beyond Sodor incident as a thank you gift. James says it looks like wind instrument.
- Contrary to popular belief, he Isn’t that much of a beauty expert on both humans and engines. That role goes to Edward, James himself is more of an interior and outfit/costume designer.
- He‘s arrogant and has this somewhat “I’m the Only one of my class!” type of pride, on the inside though he’s rather sad that he doesn’t have anyone else of his class to talk or bond with.
- The Scarring he got came from the Breakdown Train crash (the one shown in the Adventure Begins specifically). At first he was self conscious about it until some kid told him it looked cool and now he takes pride in it, the scar is there when he’s an engine.
- Has a hatred for insects, Bees especially ever since getting stung on the nose and getting painted in a bee’s colour. He isn’t cool with arachnids either.
- Knows how to cook and bake, a lot of the food he makes tastes good. He’s best at making biscuits.
Tumblr media
Percy:
- He was a shelved Locomotive made by Avonside and sent to Sodor as a back up locomotive in case something goes wrong, he wasn’t steamed/awakened until the Trouble in the Sheds strike.
- Sweet boy/engine. The downside to this is that he can be easily swayed, he got over this though.
- Sometimes acts like a spoiled child.
- Gold Whistle used to belong to the narrow gauge engine Proteus. It was given to him by Thomas after the events of Day of the Diesels as an apology gift.
- Despite his overall sweet nature he is Very mischievous, he’ll work alongside Thomas in pranking the others.
- Percy Hates D10 after the Day of the Diesels incident, it was the One time he felt important but [No] D10 just Had to rope him into some manipulative plan to take over the Steamworks and Then Sodor. He’d sock D10 in the face if he saw him.
- He has a bit of an inferiority complex, seeing as how Thomas is THE Protector of Sodor, and how the other engines have done or have been in some kind of big event while all he gets are the humiliating ones, it makes him think that he’s not special.
- He likes ghost stories! Both listening and telling spooky stories to scare everyone, halloween’s his favourite holiday strictly because he can finally scare the engines he doesn’t like.
Tumblr media
Toby:
- Toby was a J70 tram that momentarily worked for the LNER and had it’s own line, the tram would then be ridden by soon be famous Sudrian historian and writer of the RWS books Wilbert Awdry. It was then shipped to Sodor where the loco was then awakened and given his own tramway line there until it closed.
- The Grandpa™️.
- Very understanding of the people and engine’s problems, he was usually the first engine that some engines and staff go to vent their personal troubles and feelings too.
- Toby doesn’t like water, drowning (or the Engine equivalent of such) scares him. Floods are worse for him.
- Being a museum piece is also another fear, not being on the rails being unable to move? That’s already a pretty scary thought, he tries his absolute best to not end up in a museum.
- He knows a lot of Sodor’s lore and mythology more than he lets on, while he sometimes ends his tales with “but that’s just a story.” he knows that there’s something More to them. The story of Lady is one of them. He usually tells them to the Ffarquhar kids or Ryan.
- Toby bird watches during off times or if his engine self is in repairs. He really likes Cardinals and finches.
- A really good at trap making despite their simplicity, it worked on D10 and if worked when they catch bears. In general he’s just really good at planning
Tumblr media
Emily:
- She is one of the (at the time) two outside-sodor Gold Dust infused engine (the other being City of Truro), at the time she and Truro were the Only sentient engines in the Mainland before the 1930s. Emily used to pull passenger express trains and sometimes freight but after an accident involving points and snow she was left for scrap until she was bought and sent to Sodor.
- Emily is one of the last two remaining Stirling Singles, the other one being the one in the National Railway Museum. She has never met her brother though.
- Generally bossy and a bit of a “Listen to me because I know more than you!” attitude, but she’s an overall nice engine. And due to her lack of knowledge of the shenanigans that go on in Sodor it (somehow) gives her the ‘Only sane engine’ position. She’s sometimes prone to having petty rivalries though (Molly can attest to that).
- Since she’s the newest engine in Sodor, she was at one point Very left in the dark about the whole Magic Railroad situation, so she (at the time) didn’t know and get why everyone’s freaking out over this pink tank engine that makes gold glitter and why this diesel with a giant claw is after her.
- Has rather low self esteem despite her bossy nature, she thinks that anyone that Isn’t her is a Grand engine (except James), so when she’s told a compliment it Kinda goes up her funnel and treasures that compliment forever. She has somewhat gotten over this as she’s Less compliment hungry but from time to time she self deprecates.
- Being the safety engine puts a bit of weight on her, if she isn’t able to help during an accident then she’ll consider herself useless, especially if it’s a serious accident like a derailment or a crash. So she pressures herself to do Harder and Better at her job as the safety engine.
- She’s a fan of weapons, usually blades and firearms. Muskets and rapiers are her considered favourites. And yes she Does know how use them though she prefers using the firearms, “They’re easier to use!” she says.
- Knows City of Truro, mostly for the fact that he was the only Other engine like her at the time. Her and City of Truro are pretty close friends.
Tumblr media
Ryan:
- Used to work at the LNER alongside the A1s and worked as a passenger locomotive, the locomotive at one point was damaged then shelved for years until the engine was shipped to Sodor to make room for the diesel locomotives.
- Ryan is an affable young engine, friendly but naive being the youngest engine in the gang and a bit of a people pleaser though this has also been his downfall seeing as how many engines can and will take advantage of his naïveté.
- He was in the same situation as Emily, not knowing about Sodor’s prior shenanigans and being Very left in the dark about the whole situation. Ryan however was filled in after an associate of Boomer stole the lost treasure. He was surprisingly quick to believe the explanation.
- Really into all things fantasy related, novels? Yes, those in-universe bestiaries? Absolutely! Dungeons and Dragons? Hell Yeah. He tends to collect shiny rocks and gemstones in a “Oooh this might look nice as a sort of Magical Amulet or something!”, Which is why he believed Thomas so quickly. He’s also been studying all the supernatural

- Ryan is surprisingly popular among visiting Mainland engines and is friends and is either friends or relatives with said Mainland engines, this is possibly due to his few Mainland supply trips where he has conveniently met other famous engines,Gresley reunions, and Railfest appearances alongside his brother.
- Serves as Thomas’ foil, while the blue E2 is very headstrong and immature, the purple N2 is diplomatic and kind. Edward has noted how they each highlight each others’ flaws, Thomas lacking the emotional understanding and Ryan being too submissive.
- He sees Toby as his grandpa, and he went to him when Thomas was giving him the cold shoulder.

The Steam Team in General:
- Despite they’re constant bickering and the snarky remark here and there, they’re all good friends and if you try hurting one the whole gang Will [FIGHT YOU].
- They have weekly movie nights, it’s usually a better less stressful way to get to know each other, sometimes others are invited.
- Henry’s driver’s backyard is their hang out place, they usually go there during off times.
