favourite twdg villain?

I'm a fond enjoyer of the St. John's as villains. I don't know if they're my favorite just because they're only in one episode, but I love the concept of this family almost immediately jumping into cannibalism toward the start of the outbreak, dealing in human flesh to bandits, and casually feeding this group their friend's legs.

Like... what the hell was this family like before the outbreak that all three of them were like, "Hey now listen... nothing should go to waste, the dead are eating people so why shouldn't we? We gotta survive and in our defense, we only target those who were gonna die anyway... like y'all."

Dude, Mark was shot in this shoulder with an arrow. He wasn't going to die from that injury. It's so fucked that these seemingly friendly people took the group into their home and then fed them Mark's legs.

If we take the idea that everyone is infected and have the capacity within themselves to become walkers, to become monsters, then the St. John's were infected long before the outbreak, y'know? Not literally, but something was wrong with them and the outbreak just further spread that infection and changed them.

But again, are they my favorite? I dunno if I can say that since I have a lot more appreciation for Lily now. Yeah, some of her writing gets a little wonky in ep3 of TFS when she goes on her monologues and shit, but y'know what? I'm into it.

You have to remember who we're talking about and the fact that she's the antagonist; Lily isn't some anti-hero in TFS who secretly has a heart of gold that's brought to light because she reunited with Clementine... she's a fucked up woman who did fucked up things in the name of survival. She's full of rot now. She sees kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers to protect her home as a means to an end, but she doesn't actually give a shit about the people she's taking. They aren't people to her, they're as the episode title suggests, toys in her game. The only one she sees as a person is Clementine, and while that makes her hesitate at first, she sees Clementine's a prize to bring back.

She remembers what happened in S1; her father had a heart attack and as she tried to save him, Kenny smashed his face in with a saltlick and then expected Lily to just stand up and help him get back to his family because "he did what he had to, he made the hard choice." Yes, Larry was a piece of shit. No one liked him, and you can even question Lily on him and she'll tell you that he has a lot of pain. Yes, it makes him an asshole, but he's still her dad and he's all she has. I mean... the simplification is daddy issues, but in all seriousness, I don't doubt for a second that many of Lily's issues stem from Larry being a shitty father to her.

Then everyone thought she was losing it when she insisted there was a traitor in the group, which she was right about, but she was unstable. She was unwell, but how do you help someone like that when you don't have training to go about it? Then Lily ends up killing either Carley or Doug and the group turns on her, and either she's left behind or she steals the van and runs away.

Then we don't know what the hell happened to her until we see her again in TFS, but like... a lone woman with decay festering inside of her joining the delta? Exposing her to their methods? I mean, what else did she have to lose? She had nothing, she lost everything, and she has a lot of issues. Survival is easy when you're numb, when you don't care about the individual; they're all just cogs churning to make the system run, and if a piece doesn't cooperate, you get rid of it and find a new one.

Plus I think there's something to say about Lily not wanting to be perceived as weak again. That whole display she put on in the cells? Telling the story of what happened to Minerva and Sophie? I get the criticism that it feels like Lily did a 180 between episodes but like... yeah dude, because it's a performance. It's not just her and Clementine anymore. It's a display of power and authority. She's playing the part and thriving in it as she ensures everyone else is terrified of her.

But then when Clementine and AJ get the upper hand? Again, she's not afraid to play up the pleading to earn enough sympathy to spare her- hell, just to let their guard down enough to strike and get the upper hand again. I mean, she's got nothing else to lose, right? If she doesn't go for it, she'll be killed and sure, you can kill her anyway but at least she tried.

Honestly, I look at Lily in TFS and still see that scared little girl playing the tough bitch, just like Carley said in S1. It's just now escalated from "tough bitch" to a downright vile person. She's so... lost? I suppose? Lost within herself and the monstrous means she's taken to survive.

I get the criticisms of how she was used in TFS, but for me, it's like when people complain about Minerva not getting the redemption arc she supposedly should've gotten, y'know? There's no saving her. Lily was never on our side, and there was no getting her on our side. She wasn't ever going to redeem herself. Even if you spare her and she drifts away on her raft, can someone like her actually find redemption? Or will she just find another group that'll feed into her rot?

Truly, I say let her be horrid. Let her be the piece of shit villain with a few fleeting moments of humanity. Let her drown in the blood she's spilled.

He empathises with you a lot since he kinda sees himself in you

And he will always be there helping you out and giving you advice if you needed it

He will also look out for you kid! Yk that part when he has to choose who to give rations to? Yeah well you and yer kid r defo getting some food <3!

He’d relate to you a lot and you’d both talk about how stressful it can be but it’s totally rewarding as you both love yer little guys!

This man is always on your side no matter what he has full trust in you and he’s glad to know that your child is in safe hands!

Kenny

This man really loves you and your kid!

He’s always nice to you (and as long as your loyal and treat him with equal amount of respect) he’s always on your side backing you up

If anyone questions wether or not you old enough to take care of a kid he will be right by your side biting their head off!

He’d encourage duck to spend time with your kid and warn him not to be too energetic especially at first lmao

Your most definitely ok to come with him and his family in the caravan if things go to shit :D

Katjaa

This gorgeous soul truly empathised with you

She would always be there if you needed advice or just someone to talk too!

She’d also encourage duck to hang out with your kid and she’d have to remind him to try and chill out about around them lmao

She had a lot of respect for you and thinks your an amazing person for taking care of a child in a world like this

There’s not many good, caring people left so it really does warm her heart

She will also try and help you relax more when your not doing whatever job you’re doing!

She knows you need a brake, lovely! No matter how strong and capable you are <3

Duck

Duck was super exited when you and your kid showed up!

It was two new ppl to hang out with!

He can be a bit much at times, always asking you two questions and trying to get your kid to play with him but he means well!

He thinks your a totally awesome role model so he has a lot of respect for you! Especially if you where cool or was willing to play with him and yer kid :D

Sometimes he would get a bit nosy because he was confused, you where very young and you where looking after a kid??? What happened to their parents???He’d ask you about it and if it made you uncomfortable you’d get katjaa or Kenny pulling him away and apologising to you

He doesn’t really understand what’s not ok to ask <:p but I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again he does mean well lmao

Clementine

Clem really liked you and your kid!

You where like a younger version of lee in her eyes, therefore she’s trusts you a lot more!

If your kid is more like duck then she’ll be nice but won’t talk to them as much :p

However if they’re more like her in the sense that they’re more relaxed or quite then she loves hanging out with them!

She’ll always draw you two pictures!

And if you ever needed a brake to just relax she’d drag your kid of to go and draw with her!

Larry

(This man is so fucking scray oml 😭😭😭😭)

He’s a pretty serious, grumpy guy and he’s super intimidating so your kid (and you) probably tried to avoid him at first

However even if he didn’t show it he would look out for you kid!

Sometimes he was a bit suspicious and doubted wether such a young person could look after a child in a world like this:(

But he lets you be (unless he gets really mad and he’ll bring it up :p)

But deep, deep down in that stone cold heart he does want you and your kid to be safe and he feels low key sorry that all this shit happened

Lilly

She always looked out for you and your kid

She’d make sure your child (and if they had enough you) had some food when it came time to ration food

Also if yer child has longer hair you can bet she’d give them some hair bobbles! :D

She also always made small talk to your child she wanted to make sure that they where as happy as they could be in an apocalypse

She would also be there if you needed advice or to vent, her advice can be a bit honest and sometimes hard to hear but it’s pretty helpful tbh!

Doug

His man, like Carley, was never really good with kids

He would always back you up tho and he would always be there if you wanted someone to talk too

He would do anything in his power to make you and your kid feel safe!

I’m sorry but all that’s running through my brain is

“Hey, (kids name)! You want some batteries? :D”

He will try his best to keep you two happy!

Carley

(confession time, I’ve never played her route so I know f all about her)

She’s never really been good with kids tbh

She’s always been nice to them but she never really knows what to do with them

That being said she will always be nice to your kid!

And she really respects how capable you are for taking care of a child!

She truly does admire you for that

She will also go easy on you but will remind you to be strong and to put yourself and your kid first!

Ben

This man does understand you

I mean he’s your age and he did have a younger sibling!

But this man is no help I’m so sorry 😭

Like he wants to help you in anyway he can!

A Motor Inn Christmas (Idea)

Okay, this isn't a guarantee that I'll actually write this, but an idea just hit me like a truck today and I need to share it with people.

TWDG Christmas Special: A Motor Inn Christmas

I have no idea why this is hitting me so hard, but I've been putting a lot of thought into it in just the last few hours. The basic idea is that it takes place in a version of season 1 where they're still in the motor inn by December. Just assume they found some way to properly heat the place and have a steady supply of good. Also, everyone in the group is still alive. Mark never got his legs cut off. Doug and Carley both coexist. Ben is a part of the group. Essentially this is just a very lighthearted version of the TWDG universe.

The story, which would likely be one long chapter, will consist of several different interwoven storylines all taking place simultaneously, where we cut between different ones. It takes place on Christmas Eve, as everyone is getting ready for the big day.

Several of the storylines would be:

Kenny takes Lee and Mark out hunting for an elusive turkey Mark claims to have spotted a few days ago, so the group can have a true Christmas feast.

Clementine and Duck conscript Ben into helping them spread some holiday cheer around the motel.

Katjaa, wanting to bring back some form of normalcy, tries to organize a simple Christmas Eve service for everyone who's interested.

Larry learning to stop being such a grinch.

Not sure what Doug, Lilly, and Carley would be doing. That's something I still need to come up with. Maybe Doug and Carley go out looking for presents, while Lilly observes everything while on watch.

As I've already said, I don't know for sure that I'll be writing this, but I think it could be a lot of fun! Much more humorous and light than what I normally write. If I do decide to give it a shot, I'll try to have it posted on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

A New Companion

"Woof!"

Upon hearing this sound, Mark could've sworn that his heart sank down to his stomach. It was just supposed to be a simple supply run.

"Hello?" Mark asked, his footsteps becoming more and more cautious. He quickly whipped his head around upon hearing the tiny pitter-patter of what could have been a dog.

At this point in the apocalypse, dogs had all but been forgotten by groups like Mark's, and they were only really welcome into groups who used them to scare others away.

"Woof!" There it was again. That sound. The sound that made Mark's hair stand on end.

Readying his axe, the man walked towards the sound that scared him, ready to take on the threat.

"All right, come on out now and let's get this over with," he said, axe right by his side.

"Woof!" The disembodied voice barked back, it's footsteps getting closer.

Mark took a deep breath, and closed his eyes.

When he opened them, however, he saw something that he had never expected to see.

On the floor infront of him was a small, scrappy looking puppy. The poor little thing was unkempt and covered in dirt, and it looked up at him, large brown eyes full of hope.

And in that moment, Mark was absolutely smitten. He'd always been a dog person, and it was nearly impossible to resist the puppy's hopeful look combined with that adorable wagging tail.

He scooped the puppy up in his arms, who in turn gave him a playful lick on the nose.

"Let's get you home," he said, looking at the creature in his arms.

Upon arriving, Mark proudly displayed the small creature to Lee, Carley, Clementine, Duck and Ben, who were all quite estatic about the possibility of the group getting a pet. Instantly, the 5 were smitten by him, cooing over his cuteness and already starting to discuss names.

Lily and Kenny, however, weren't quite as enthusiastic.

"Mark, you know we can't keep a dog," Lily sighed, rubbing her temples with her hands.

Mark sighed. "We can't just leave him on his own, Lily."

"For once, I agree with her," Kenny added, "We're barley getting by as it is."

"Thank you," Lily said, "We need to focus on survival, and bringing a dog into the equation isn't going to help us."

"C'mon, can't we keep him?" Duck asked, turning to his mother.

"I'm not making a decision, honey. It's up to Lily and your dad," Katjaa replied in her usual calm tone.

While Lily, Mark and Kenny were busy arguing, Carley pulled Lee aside to discuss a plan.

"Lee, we can't just let Lily get rid of that dog," Carley said, "everyone loves that little guy so much".

"I agree with you, Carley, but what should we do about Lily and Kenny?" Lee asked, his eyebrows furrowed.

"I think we should hold a vote on it. You?"

"Yeah, that's a good plan."

After some heated discussion, the vote was split right down the middle, with Larry and Katjaa choosing to abstain. Eventually, though, Lee and Carley's rousing speeches convinced the two to vote in favour of keeping the dog.

At this, Mark was overjoyed. As were Clementine and the other kids at the motel. They all decided on the name Buddy, and Mark would spend every second of his free time at the animal's side. Buddy quickly became a beloved member of the group, providing much-needed companionship and comfort in the midst of the apocalypse.

Eventually, even Lily and Kenny came around. They saw how happy Buddy made the group, and they realized that having a pet could provide some much-needed joy and hope in the midst of all the darkness.
