HIII!! I was wondering if u could do the boys from the outsiders having a waitress Friend and they all show up at her work to bother her and ask her stupid things like “since we’re ur friends this is all free right??” lol💕
Sodapop, followed by Two-Bit and Steve, slid into a booth, smiling widely. You internally groaned as the rest of the gang sat down as well.
“Hey guys! What can I get you?” You chirped.
“Ah, really?” Two-Bit sighed dramatically. “You’re using your customer service voice on us?”
“Fine.” Your voice dropped back to its normal tone. “Usual order?” You made eye contact with each of the boys, them nodding in confirmation. “Great.” You scribbled down the orders you had long memorised, asking, “Any other drinks or sides?”
“We’re good.” Darry interrupted before anyone could say anything that could rack up the bill.
“I wanted Coke!” Soda whined.
Darry shook his head. “You can get free Coke from the DX. You’re fine with water.”
“Got it,” you winked at the boys before going off and passing their order to the chef.
The rest of your shift went easily, your other customers being very pleasant. However, whenever you tended to your friends, they always pushed you to ignore your job and sit with them. After their meal was finally done, the boys lazily eating, rapidly talking, and annoying you whenever possible, you smacked down the bill in front of them.
“W-What’s this?” Steve asked, mouth full of the chocolate cake he ordered.
“Your bill.” You frowned. “You all come here every week. What do you mean, ‘What is this?’”
“But we’re your friends!” Soda protested, quickly snagging some of Steve’s cake for himself.
“Yeah…” You were unsure of where this was going.
“We shouldn’t have to pay!” Two-Bit added on.
“I’m sorry?” You peered at them. “You guys owe ten dollars.” (I did the calculations. This is correct.) “I’m not letting you rob this fine establishment of its money!” You made it a couple seconds before snickering at your own joke.
“Ten dollars?” Pony’s mouth fell open. “What the hell did you guys order?!”
Darry sighed and rolled his eyes. “Cough it up!” He ushered the boys to grab their wallets. Everyone handed in two dollars (except for Dally who only shoved in one dollar and Darry who gave three to make up for Johnny’s single dollar), leaving you with their money and a one dollar tip. (Again, at that time, it's a very good tip.)
“Two dollars down the drain….” Soda mumbled sadly.
“Two dollars for your meal.” You corrected, starting to walk away.
“You’re still hanging out with us after your shift, right?” Johnny called after you. You turned around and gave them a thumbs up, eliciting cheers from the group.
“Thanks for the food!” Ponyboy yelled out. “It was… decent!”
“Don’t shoot the messenger,” you remind him, leaving the table to help the other customers.

YOU’RE SITTING IN YOUR BEST FRIEND, cherry valance’s red pontiac bonneville at the drive-in, doubling over in laughter by the remarks about the movie made by your friends in the backseat. it’s late, and you’re only slightly aware of the time on the light pink watch on cherry’s wrist ticking closer to your curfew, and you’re sure your parents on the west side would worry; that is, if they aren’t too engrossed in their wine to care.
and if someone asked, you wouldn’t be able to recall the name of the movie you were seeing right now, even if your life depended on it, too busy laughing at marcia sitting in the backseat.
“marcia, shut up, you’re going to make us miss the movie,” cherry said with a laugh; cherry always snorted when she laughed too hard.
you laughed, “i think we already have missed the movie—do any of you have any idea what we were supposed to see?”
“well, ladies, i think i can enlighten you on that,” came a voice from your left of the car. there stood two-bit mathews in the moonlight, mostly sober. at least, you think.
you had seen him around school, but you’d never really interacted, considering your social classes differed and your parents were sticklers for appearances. you remembered he was funny, almost lightning quick at making the entire class burst into laughter a multitude of times; you think you might share a class or two with him.
you grinned up at him, a teasing lilt to your tone, “thanks for the gracious offer, but i think we can handle ourselves.”
he raised an eyebrow, “for real? go on then, i’m listening.” he grins at your hesitance, “c’mon, lay it on me.”
your confident facade melted as you spoke, “well, it was something about temperature, i’m pretty sure.”
marcia mumbled her agreement. cherry was uncharacteristically quiet.
two-bit laughed, “shoot, baby, you almost got the name right.”
you ignore the skip in your heartbeat at the term of affection, pointedly rolling your eyes, “if you’re such a smartass, then you can explain it.”
at this point, cherry and marcia are no longer interested in your discourse with two-bit, having started their own conversation a little while ago.
“it’s a shocker, really, would you mind doing a little drumroll before i spoil it?” he joked.
“c’mon, it can’t be that bad—”
two-bit deadpanned, “it’s about burning books.”
“no way, you gotta be fucking with me,” you say in disbelief. it’s a stupid idea to make a movie on, you think. “what a waste of cash,” you groan.
“i snuck in,” he shrugged with a grin, “anyways, whatcha so decked up for, you goin’ on a date or sum after?”
“nah, as hard as it is to believe, cause we both know i’m hot, i don’t have a date.”
“shame for you, but that’s good for me at least.”
at your surprised look, he laughs, “i can take you out for the date you’re missing.”
you hesitate for a second, considering it, but in the end, you’ve got nothing to lose, really, so you shrug and tell two-bit, who’s grinning at you expectantly, “sure?”
before you can get out of the car, you’re met with cherry’s incredulous expression.
“excuse us for a sec,” cherry says sweetly to two-bit, who shrugs and walks a little away from the car.
with the look she’s giving you right now, you think if looks could kill, you’d be dead on the spot.
“c’mon, cherry, what’s the problem? she finally scored a date, and he’s fun,” marcia interjected, giving you a discreet wink.
cherry scoffed and turned to you, “i just want you to be careful, okay? it’s past your curfew, your parents are gonna kill you when you get home, and the idea of perfect little you going out with a greaser's gonna be icing on the cake.”
“my parents can take their opinions and shove it up their asses, for all i care.”
marcia and cherry laughed, cherry spoke, matter-of-factly, “understandable but come back here after your date, we’ll drop you off at your house, okay?”
“i know your mother won’t say shit with me in the car, she likes me, for some weird reason,” marcia smirked.
“okay, mother,” you saluted her before climbing out of the car and walking towards two-bit.
he grinned as you approached him.
“let’s go to a diner, i’m starving,” you suggest, noticing your stomach protesting from the lack of food. popcorn and coke didn’t count as real food, delicious as they might be.
“whatever you say, baby,” he winked at you and you laughed.
the walk to the diner, which was a couple streets away from the drive-in, was filled with laughter as you and two-bit engaged in a conversation that would’ve seemed absurd to any one of your girl-friends.
your date went smoothly, there was never an uncomfortable silence or awkward moment and you did enjoy yourself. as you’re leaving the diner, you can’t help but wish for the night to go on for longer, just so you could stay out, laughing with two-bit.
before you near cherry’s car, which wasn’t hard to miss because of the bright red color, you stop and turn to two-bit.
“i had a great time,” you tell him honestly, linking your fingers together behind your back.
“so, does that mean i can get your number?”
you blinked, slightly taken aback, but smiled broadly at him, “yeah, wait lemme write it down for you.” after searching for a pen and a scrap of paper from inside your purse, you hand him the piece of paper, and he pocketed it.
“you better call me, otherwise, i’ll come looking for you,” you threaten him with a smile.
two-bit laughed, “that doesn’t sound too bad, i think i’ll risk it just for the chance of a pretty girl chasing after me.”
you groaned, swatting his shoulder, “be serious, asshole.”
he raised his hands in the air, “okay, okay, i’ll call you, no need to get so worked up, baby.”

hello!! I stumbled apon your blog a little while ago and really love your way of words! It’s beautiful, thank you for writing by the way <33 if you have a chance can you do Johnny Cade trying to hint that he likes you but we’re painfully oblivious to what he’s doing and we keep debating whether it’s platonic or romantic, but the whole gang notices (because it’s pretty obvious) and teases us for it sometimes? Tysm btw!! <33
Helloooo! Sorry this is so bad but with school and exams and the holidays it just slipped my mind 😅 Thank you for your wonderful words! A fantastic, amazing idea!
“Hey, Y/n? Do you wanna go to the drive-in later today? There’s a movie playing I think you’ll like?” You could practically hear the nervousness spelling itself out as Johnny asked you to a movie.
Even though this was a common occurrence, Johnny asking you to a movie or Dairy Queen, you kept debating whether he just wanted to be friends or not. Johnny hung out with Pony and Dally all the time; maybe he just saw quality time as a thing necessary for his friendships? Or was Two-Bit and Pony correct in that Johnny liked you?
“Yeah! I would love to!” You said, never to refuse him. Obviously, as anyone would, you liked Johnny in a way that could only be described as a schoolgirl crush intensified by one hundred. “I’ll see you in English?”
“Yeah!”
“Great,” you waved goodbye to him, meeting up with Two-Bit in the halls of your school.
Two-Bit, with a grin that stretched ear to ear, snickered out, “You, my friend, are an idiot.”
“Not this again,” you sighed.
“Listen, kid,” he slung an arm around you. “This is a clear as broad daylight thing. The fact that you don’t see Johnny Cade’s crush for you is shockingly sad.”
“Two, I know I have a crush on him,” you started, “but I don’t know if he has a crush on me. And before you argue, he just went to the drive- in with Pony two days ago. Why am I any different?”
“Because he went with Pony, Dally, and Soda!” Two-Bit laughed out loud at your blindness. “Three other people! I haven’t seen him asking Darry or me to the drive-in tonight. He only asked you. Kid,” he looked down at you, a brotherly sternness coming over him. “I have heard from Johnny’s mouth itself that he likes you. Just go to the dang drive- in and tell him how you feel! We’re all rooting for you!” His voice lowered, “though if you could wait two weeks, you would really help me win ten dollars…”
You pushed Two-Bit away from you, scoffing. However, his words didn’t leave your head throughout the day. Through English, the walk home, and while you were getting ready, Two’s words ran through your head.
“Hey Y/n,” Johnny smiled when he picked you up at your house.
“Hi!” You took Johnny’s arm, as a bit of a joke, while you guys walked to the drive-in. After a while of silence, Johnny looking over at you curiously as conversation usually flowed easily between you, you said, “Two-Bit said something weird. He said that he heard that you liked me?”
“Well, yeah.” Johnny was taken aback by the suddenness of your words and turned bright red but tried to play it off. “You’re a cool friend. If I didn’t like you, why would I hang out with you?” He chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of his neck.
“He meant in a romantic way,” you corrected.
“Y/n,” Johnny sighed, “yeah, I do like you. I thought I made that clear enough when I kept asking you out to activities.”
“I thought you were just being nice!”
“No,” Johnny shook his head, smiling. “I like you. And, uh, I hope you like me too?”
“Yes!” You said loudly. “Of course I like you too!”
“Then, uh, can we count this as a first date?”
“I would love to.”

I’m so sorry for these, but thank you 😭
a Johnny Cade x Reader where they’re hanging out alone somewhere together (before they’re dating) and a older women comes up to them and tells them that ‘they look like such a cute couple’ and they both just look at each other and get really flustered and try explain that they’re not a couple but she walks away before they can tell her.
<333 so sorry
I combined that with his request: "could you do a Johnny Cade x Reader where it’s Valentines Day or near that holiday, and they’re just talking in the hallway but when the reader leaves they like drop a confession letter from their book/folder (but its not like listed who its for) and he gets a little sad+confused because he wants to know who the letter is for, and returns it to them and they get super embarrassed cause it was for him"
You couldn’t find it. You had searched all of your folders, notebooks, and binders and couldn’t find it. Two-Bit was watching you with amused interest.
“What’cha looking for?” He took a bit of how chocolate cake.
“Uh, a- a letter,” you struggled with how much to tell him. “And it was really important and I can’t find it.”
“What was it?” He teased, “your letter to Santa?”
“No!” You defended yourself. “It was a… well, what do you care?! I need to get ready for my outing with Johnny,” you muttered as an afterthought. You would have to put the letter out of your mind for now.
“Your date?” Two-Bit rolled his eyes. “Just call it what it is.”
“It’s not a-” you cut yourself off. It was hopeless. The gang would always push you and Johnny together. And maybe you wanted them too. The letter, unbeknownst to them, was to Johnny. You had finally gained the courage to put your feelings to paper and tell him how you felt.
Meanwhile, Johnny was freaking out. He was at school late to help Pony with a history project and they had stumbled upon a folded up piece of paper in the hallway. Pony had picked it up, worried that someone had dropped their homework, and was shocked at what he found. “It’s Y/n’s,” he exclaimed.
“Oh, I’ll give it back to her later today. We’re going to the park. Apparently they just planted some new flowers on the Soc side of town and she wants to see them.”
“Uh, I’m not sure you should have this…” Pony was always bad at excuses. So when he tried to come up with one, Johnny got suspicious and grabbed the paper away.
His eyes scanned the words, so clearly written in your writing. He felt his heart drop, but he couldn’t pull his eyes away. Oh, why couldn’t you write about him like that?
“We don’t know who it’s for!” Pony quickly tried to spare his friend’s feelings.
“Clearly not for me,” Johnny muttered. “I knew she didn’t like me back, but this is just proof of it. I’ll give it back to her later.” He repeated his words as he stuffed the love letter into his pocket.
It was hopeless.
**
You were freaking out on your outing with Johnny because you couldn’t find your letter and you didn’t know who could’ve read it, and Johnny was freaking out because he had been the one to read said letter.
But whatever your anxiety levels were, you were determined to have a nice evening with Johnny. “Look at all the different colours! Are they beautiful?” You asked him.
Just like you, he wanted to respond. But knowing you had feelings for another, he simply said, “Yeah. Really pretty.” He stuffed his hands in his pockets, only to be reminded to the crumpled up letter that sat their, like a rock pulling him down.
“Oh, sorry,” you muttered to a group of old ladies who came up on the path opposite you. You pooped your arm through Johnny’s to converse space so they could get through.
“May I just say,” one of the ladies smiled brightly. “You two are just the cutest couple! My husband would have never gone along with me to see the flowers, yet here you two are!”
“And so in love, too,” another one added.
“Ah, geez,” Johnny blushed. “We- we’re not together. Just friends.” You nodded hurriedly along.
“Well, could’ve fooled us,” one of the women winked at you and you hid your smile.
Johnny pulled you away quickly and said, “I’m sorry about that, they shouldn’t have said anything.”
“It’s fine,” you waved him away. “They were just being sweet. And they’re not totally wrong…”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, do friends regularly come to gardens with other friends? The rest of the gang isn’t here,” you pointed out.
“I guess,” he shrugged. “But don’t you have someone else you’d rather be here with?”
“Why do you say that?” Your arm was still hooked in Johnny’s.
“I didn’t mean to, but Pony and I accidentally found something you wrote,” he rushed through his words as he pulled out the letter you had written.
Your eyes grew wide and you shook your head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. That isn’t mine.”
“You signed it, Y/n.”
Damn it. You forgot about that. “I’m sorry, Johnny,” you said. “I overstepped a boundary and I didn’t mean to. I didn’t want to ruin our friendship so I wasn’t going to give it to you-”
“To me?” Johnny very rudely interrupted your anxious apology.
“Well, yeah,” you whispered. “Who else would it be to?”
“I thought it was for some Soc or something!” Johnny cried, relieved.
“God, no,” you shuddered at the thought. “I’ve only ever liked you.”
“And I’ve only ever liked you!” Johnny said, a wide smile spreading over his features.
“Really?”
“Yeah, that’s why I was so sad when I thought you liked another guy.”
“Huh.” You nodded slowly, your own happiness overcoming you. “Then I guess those old ladies were right.”
