“Don’t forget the soda.”
Yeonjun’s obnoxiously loud whisper cut through your trance, causing you to blink and realize you were still deciding which brand of chips to get. You pick up a random one so he doesn’t realize you had spaced out, throwing it in the cart. The crinkly sound makes you cringe a little since it was pretty loud in comparision to the silence that presently reigned over the empty grocery store.
“We’ll get upset stomachs,” you grumble, looking at the junk food that was already inside it. Eggo waffles, cinnamon toast crush cereal, chocolate easter eggs that were on sale since the store wanted to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Adding the chips to the mix, you can almost feel the inevitable sick day you’re going to experience soon.
“It was your idea to do this,” he reminds you, taking two cup noodles down from the shelves and throwing them in, before shooting you a sheepish grin. “Running low at home on these things.”
Your best friend is amusing, you know this. You’ve been stuck with him since your sophmore year of high school, and there wasn’t a person you would rather go with you at ungodly times to a twenty-four hour grocery store. You weren’t getting any sleep, and he had been bored. Match made in heaven in your opinion.
“Soda after whatever sugary pastry you’re going to get for us was not my idea,” you correct, picking out the cardboard-boxed cheesecake he had taken from the store freezer to purchase. “You know the strawberries in this are going to taste like shit, right?”
“That’s the beauty in it, Y/n,” there’s a twinkle in his eyes, one you knew all too well and had come to grow fond of. “The fact that it’s so shitty is what makes it fun.”
“No wonder you’re a hoot,” you snicker and he gasps, elbowing you and causing you to yelp. Your voices were the only sounds that filled the old store.
“I take offense.”
“Good.”
He hums, hesitating for a moment. There’s something on his mind, and there has been for a while now, but you’ve never found the moment to ask him about it. Now or never, you suppose.
“What’s wrong?”
Yeonjun has very expressive eyes, and now they’re just a little sad. You’re not quite sure what has gotten to him to cause this, but you know you don’t like him being sad. You like the boy with the bright eyes and shit-eating grin. That was what made him, him.
“Will we still do this? Next year I mean.” The question hangs in the air, uncomfortable so. Next year- college. The two of you graduate, and to hell with what happens after that because you don’t know yet.
You don’t think you would be able to survive without him, who else were you supposed to do all your spontaneously and idiotic antics with? Growing up and letting go had always seemed like a idiotic concept to you, so you didn’t see why anything should have to come to a stop.
“Of course we will” You say simply, “Always.”
Yeonjun smiles, glancing at you for just a moment. Best friends, you had promised him in the tenth grade as he had promised to you. Maybe in the future you would be more, but for now, he was content with joining you for midnight escapades and such.
“Always.”

it’s just. it’s just so wonderful to think abt sterek post-canon. we have survived so much pain and grief. amidst this grief that enveloped us, we somehow found this small place of love and tenderness that grew between us. i love you despite the pain. i know you despite the hurt. i will always be with you, i will always save you. it makes me insane. it makes me sick in the head. au everyone lives are so perfect but there is just something about making and creating love for sterek despite their painful story. no one is exempt from a happy ending. they will always have it and it’s so. it’s so 😿🥺

Is this... Do we call it... Love? 4
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4)
A/N: Thank you all for reading this. (Don’t mind if it feels a bit ooc. It’s hard for me to write completely in character sometimes.) I hope you enjoy~
Lucy stood on the beach, stretching her arms above her head. She'd just woken up from a nap and had found no one else beside her under the beach umbrella. She scanned the beach while she stretched, looking for Happy and Natsu. She towards the water and saw Happy flying towards the ocean, before swooping back up into the air carrying Natsu. She smiled.
The three had just finished a job and were spending a day enjoying themselves at Port Hargeon. The job had been a minor one that hadn’t taken very much skill at all. A wizard had been charming some local girls into giving away their jewelry in order to sell it back to them later on for money. The poor guy hadn’t seen Natsu coming when he had attempted to charm Lucy.
Lucy sighed and chuckled to herself. The first time she had been in Port Hargeon, someone calling himself Nastu Dragneel had managed to charm her for only a moment. She wondered if the two were connected, although, at this point, she assumed not. It wasn’t best to dwell on the past. She stood up, stretching her legs and walked towards the water.
As she waded out into the water towards the pair of friends, Happy dropped Natsu a little ways in front of her, yelling, “Cannonball!” With a splash, he went under the water and came up, splashing Lucy both times.
“Natsu!”
“Lucy!”
“Fish!”
“Happy!” Both Lucy and Natsu looked at the flying cat as he hovered above their heads.
He held a fish in his arms. “Can we cook it?”
Natsu grinned. “I’ll catch some more.”
Two hours later, they sat next to a small fire on the beach with the remains of the fish sitting next to them. Lucy sighed happily. She was glad they didn’t have to spend any money.
Natsu looked at her and smiled. She could tell he looked rather full from dinner, but he quickly scooted over next to her, while Happy slept off his fair share of the food.
Lucy smiled back at Natsu. “This is nice.” She chuckled. “It’s been so hectic lately. We haven’t had time to take jobs with just the three of us.” She looked out over the ocean.
“Yeah,” Natsu agreed. “I guess this is nice. But you know, I think you’re the nicest.”
Lucy shot Nastu a knowing look. “You’re just saying that.”
Natsu grinned his goofy grin back at her. He quickly shot towards her, toppling her over onto the sand with him. They both laughed as they lay next to each other.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Natsu looking at her. She kept her focus on the evening sky above them, attempting to watch stars appear. Natsu gaze, though, brought her gaze back to him and she turned her head to face him.
His eyes, serious, but full of softness, found hers. He quickly nudged his face towards hers, murmuring, “I really mean it.” His eyes closed as he kissed her.
Do we... Is this... Lucy thought at the touch of Natsu’s lips on hers. After a brief moment of hesitation, Lucy kissed him back. When they pulled apart, Lucy smiled at Natsu endearingly. “This is love, isn’t it?”
Natsu grinned at her, his usual grin, but this time with more emotion than Lucy had ever seen. “Yeah.”
A brief second later, Lucy kissed him back. “Never leave my side again... You promise?” she said, her lips barely touching his, and tears forming in her eyes.
He wipe away a tear that started to fall from the corner of her eye. “Yeah,” Natsu responded, pulling her next to him. “I promise.”
They would lay on the beach alternating between kissing and looking up at the sky, Lucy opening up about her feelings, then, now, when Natsu and Happy had disappeared for a year and Natsu assuring her he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her again. Happy would wake up and he and Natsu would take off for the ocean again, wanting to catch more fish for dessert. Lucy would laugh and drag them back to their hotel, where all three would pass out. They would return to the guild, where there would be a celebration for the two finally realizing their feelings. But the only moment that mattered was the one right that very moment as they lay on the beach finally acknowledging each other’s feelings, answering their one question. Yes, this was love.
