The boba tea shops keep opening. The TEA is close to Half & Half and Sunright (same side of the street, just further north in a different building). They offer handcrafted drinks made with premium ingredients, including fresh fruit, fresh milk, and Uji matcha. While they talk a lot about quality, there wasn’t much detail about the ingredients they use. But perhaps it’s because they just opened and it’s their first location.

Choose from signature drinks, milk tea, pure tea, fresh fruit tea, Vietnamese coffee, and Ujimatcha drinks. They have lots of toppings, including crème brulee, cheese foam, brown sugar boba, pudding, jellies, grass jelly, crystal boba, Oreo, aloe, taro, and red bean. You can specify your sweetness and ice levels. It seems like they only have one cup size.

Order at the counter and they’ll call your name when your order is ready. The pick up area is in the back of the store.

Tieguanyin oolong milk tea ($5.50) with herbal/grass jelly ($0.65), no sugar added, less ice. Very nice – one of the best oolong milk teas that I’ve had. The tea flavor was strong but not bitter. The fresh milk made it creamy but not heavy. The grass jelly was soft and lightly sweetened. The ice cubes were big but there weren’t that many of them. The drink was nice and cold.

They only serve drinks and no food. I’d like to try the Earl Grey milk tea, jasmine milk tea, and roasted oolong milk tea. The décor was nice but the counter is huge so there isn’t much seating. It seems to be set up for takeout.

Uji matcha soufflé pancakes; aud15.50 from pop-up Kumo Kumo at Shimizu cafe, Northbridge (until August). Braved the cold on Friday night and went on opening night to check out this new pop-up. Queued for around 32 minutes at 9 degrees - tip: bring gloves. Gotta be my luck to get overdone soufflé pancakes - it’s edible but not as soft as I’d expected of soufflé pancakes. The matcha cream wasn’t too sweet and wasn’t bitter at all. Perhaps it was their opening night, the consistency of the pancakes wasn’t the same which is a huge shame (refer to the second last pic) as I’d really been looking forward to this pop-up and wanted to love them. Hopefully they’ve improved by now. Shimizu cafe wasn’t accomodating even if patrons wanted to dine-in (order drinks and desserts from Shimizu while having the pancakes from Kumo Kumo). Instead, the server said one could only sit indoors if mains were ordered from Shimizu - At 9:40pm.
