Ruyi and Hailan from Ruyi Royal Love In The Palace x Meiniang and Xu Hui from The Empress of China
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two friendships between two women in two Chinese dynasties.
Xu Hui betrayed Meiniang for the Emperor's sake. Hailan would have burned the Emperor for Ruyi's sake.
Xu Hui and Hailan are played by the same actress
• What would it have been like if Xu Hui hadn't betrayed Meiniang? Sometimes I think she could have ascended as Empress Consort when Meiniang became Emperor.

Emperors Dragon angst?? While I don’t have a set time period for the story given it’s a fantasy, I have drawn inspiration from real life history such as the palace system of the forbidden city during the Qing dynasty mixing Tang Dynasty attire, but I decided to include a few historical names in there, mainly to help me remember them since there’s a lot of characters of prominence I’m trying to whittle down to just a few but, that said, I decided on Empress Xian (Ula Nara, Or Ruyi as some would know her) for the empress as her little documented history is actually quite interesting and I can use it as a part of the plot in the story. But that said, enjoy! ~Bambi

Tai Lung: *barricaded himself inside the servants quarters after being brought back to the palace following him waking up in a panic after his fall from the sky and trying to escape, now frantically searching for any possible way out* wh-what the fuck is going on?? I wanted to die not this! I-
*BANG! BANG! BANG!*
Emperor Tengfei: *throwing his weight against the door trying to get it to budge* Great dragon please come out!! I understand you’re frightened but you’re injured! You mustn’t hide in your current state!
Head advisor Li Yu: your highness please don’t hurt yourself! *gently ushers him away from the door as his subordinates step forward and begin to dismantle the barrier instead*
Emperor Tengfei: I’ve faced worse injuries in my life, but I can’t sit idle while he’s in there hurt and in such a panicked s-

Emperor Tengfei: *turns around to see the empress and her handmaid step through the door* Xian, he’s locked himself away and already strained his injuries greatly, we have to get him out before-
Empress Xian: *raises her hand silencing him before stepping to the door and looking at the eunuchs with a commanding gaze making them step out of her way* … *gently knocks on the door* great dragon?… it’s okay now, they’re gone.
Tai Lung: *trying to pry open the window but failing with only one good hand, pauses hearing a soft, oddly familiar voice calling to him* …Mother?
Empress Xian: *gently knocks again* can you please come out and tell me your name dear dragon?
*silence*
*wood scraping and furniture thudding from behind the door*
Tai Lung: *slowly opens it and peers out ever so slightly* …
Empress Xian: *smiles and offers her hand to him* shhh it’s okay now. What’s your name oh great dragon?
Tai Lung: *nervously takes her hand with his bandaged one as he quietly steps out a little further* t-Tai Lung…
Empress Xian: *laughs lightly and gently clasps his hurt hand between hers patting it lightly* We were right to refer to you as great dragon then it seems. Come now, let me have a look at your arm. I’m sure you’d prefer me re-dress it than be swarmed by doctors again yes?
Tai Lung: *nods nervously and steps out from behind the door, finally giving everyone a good look at himself in all his new and mighty glory*
Emperor Tengfei: *staring at him speechless along with the servants, quietly steps forward to greet him* There a-

Tai Lung: *glances at him shyly from behind his iridescent firey hair* … *follows after the empress, accidentally brushing the emperors legs with his tail as he leaves*
Emperor Tengfei: *watching them leave in a mix of awe and mild jealousy his wife was able to so easily coax him out of his panicked hiding* …
Head Advisor Li Yu: your highness? Are you alright?
Emperor Tengfei: … *glances back at him before watching Tai Lung disappear into the distance* have his measurements taken at once and sent to the embroidery house, I want no expenses spared for his clothing… in the mean time, he can wear mine… It seems I must work to garner his favour.

Just rewatched Empresses of Palaces and and Ruyi's Royal Love 🤣🤣
Spoiler:
Yongzheng and Qianlong truly father and son 🤣🤣
1.Yongzheng raped Qianlong mother while he was drunked (a maid) and Qianlong repeated the same with Hailan (a maid too but at least she had Ruyi as her backup).
2.Falling in love with the lady of Ula-Nara clan.
3.Gave constraption medicine or just blantant poison to prevent the "dangerous" concubines and consorts from pregnant due to their clan power or connection: Consort Hua for Yongzheng and Consort Shu and Noble Lady Qing for Qianlong.
4. Having an empress who looked kind on outside but actually a cold -hearted asshole.
5.Letting their consorts and concubines playing ala "Throne of Games" or something, the winner get the most power in harem.
6. Their third sons always not their favourite sons.
8. Having the empresses but proceed to ignored their main wives feeling most of the time and make pikachu faces when they got tired of their shits 👍

Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace. Often when I watch the episodes or clips from the show on youtube, one common thing I notice is how many other viewers agree that the title of the drama feels like it doesn't make sense.
Many question, Ruyi's Royal Love? When that love sadly gets stomped on and dies basically halfway through the drama? So I thought about it, too. Many take on the opinion that Ruyi's Love really refers to Hailan, or even Yunche. And these are all great takes.
But I like to personally believe, Ruyi's Royal Love isn't referring to any one person in Ruyi's life. It was about Ruyi herself.
Ruyi's Royal Love -> ->-> the love Ruyi has. Royal because she IS royal, in her heart, and her mind and actions. In a way that someone like Hongli will never ever be.
I think of all the people who's lives she touched. Hongli, yes. But there was also Hailan, Consort Shu, Consort Ying, Consort Chun, Yonghuang. Ling Yunche, Li Yu, Suoxin, Jiang Yubin, Rongpei, all the way to the servants who worked for her that we saw only a bit (Lingzhi and Yingzhi, and Sanbao).
How she showed care even towards people who wronged her, like Aruo, Consort Hui, Consort Jia. How in so many people's final moments, its her that shows up in the end, not anyone else, even the emperor. How she comforted Concubine Mei's fear that she would not be able to recognize her son. How she held no grudge against Consort Rong and gave her the will to go on. Quietly sending food to the abandoned first prince so he wouldn't starve. Applying medicine for Li Yu when he was forced to kneel. Taking care of Aruo despite her being in the wrong and being rightly punished for her behavior. Making sure Suoxin married the good decent man she always dreamed of, and sending her out of the palace after all her sufferings. Saving Liaxin from drowning and helping her get out of an abusive relationship. Having mercy on Yanwan when she was just a maid. Saving Yunche's life from false accusations over and over. Remembering Consort Ying's birthday even when she was barely a month into morning the death of her 3 year old daughter. Showing mercy towards the brothel women when in reality their fates would likely have been death otherwise. Her putting all of her effort to protect Noble Lady Yi and her baby when she lived with her. Sending charcoals to Hailan because she knew, even if she never said it, that she wasn't being given any in the winter.
And many others things I can't even remember.
Ruyi at one point says to Hailan, "In the harem, love is hard to come by, if you let go of even that little amount, what else do we have?"
and I think that summarizes who Ruyi was perfectly. In the decorated chaos and evil that lurks in the palace, it was always Ruyi being there as a beacon of love and care to all of the broken and hurt people. I remember reading a youtube comment that said Ruyi's palace was becoming like a place for the mistreated people to gather, and it's a testament to her character.
Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is a perfect title, and it's talking about her.

About Ruyi's Royal Love at the Palace
we can all agree that Hailan's love for Ruyi was the most sincere and strongest of the entire show, no?
Tumblr media
I simply love their friendship and complicity, a very difficult thing to find in c-dramas when all the women in the harem are constantly pitted against each other for the Emperor's favor.
(I hate female rivalry mostly because of a man and that Qianlong wasn't worth the effort, but anyway, it was all for the favor)
if it was like the European royal series where the Emperor was not worshiped and had as a god, surely Hailan would have killed Qianlong with poison.
the show would be much more interesting if Hailan took down Qianlong and she and Ruyi rose through the palace ranks, ruling as Empresses (very fanfiction stuff LOL) and raising their children (Yongqi, Yongjing, Yongji and Jingsi)
from the beginning, Hailan was loyal to her Jye-Jye (older sister) until the end. sometimes I even thought Hailan loved Ruyi more than Yongqi, her own son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hailan was a frightened and intimidated little bird, but for Ruyi, she turned into a large, fierce dragon that would have set the Forbidden City on fire and all those who intimidated Ruyi.
i hate their miserable ending
Ula-Nara Ruyi and keliyete Hailan deserved better. They deserved to be happy.
