Upcoming and future projects
Hello folks! 🤗
Thought I'd shed some light on the fandom-projects that are currently in the works within the walls of the Archives.
Starting next week (January 29th), we will re-release the current works produced by the members of the Archives 2021-2023!
The following weekend (February 3rd), I will unveil the Archive's newest addition: my version of the Arendelle royal family tree!
Using information provided by the movies, books and other sources, I've attempted to piece together every known member of the royal fjord-dwellers and present them in the most comprehensible way possible!
I started working on and off with this idea some time last year and I'm happy it's finally coming together. Below you can find a teaser showing some of the progress from August 2023 to January 2024!
Tumblr media
(excuse the blur, I'd like to save the complete structure for when it's ready 😉)
For the future, I've planned to make a major revision of my old project An odyssey through Frozen geography. Besides exploring Arendelle and the real-life places that inspired it, I will also cover a few other topics like culture, architecture, technology and a few other things that are still in early development.
Also, be sure that when Frozen III eventually comes around, you will hopefully see a renewed Annals of Frozen edition covering the new events and any possible backstory!

Thoughts on the upcoming Fawlty Towers reboot coming in the future (plus any thoughts on the somewhat leaked plot details for the FT reboot)?
Let's start off by saying that I'm pretty sure this reboot will never see the light of day imo. This ESSAY will be based only on my view of Basil sooo take whatever you want from it.
okay so Sybil died, poor lady, and everybody else left a 90-something year old Basil ALONE (let's remember Basil is canonically several years older than John), and I don't think he'd be the type of 90 or more year old who would still be doing a lot of things, I think he would be a bit braindead IMO. This doesn't sound like the greatest plot ever but maybe John will surprise us? idk and I don't think so, after all Fawlty Towers was about ALL the characters involved: they were just like the organs of a body and Basil was the brain, that is, important but it really couldn't work all alone. Now this body is mostly dying and maybe this brain can't keep doing all the work alone, so just kill it (don't kill John for real please). It should have ended in 1979 with Basil having to close the hotel after the dude found the mice in the biscuit box or whatever it was idk I've watched the last episode back in 2021 and never again because it's not a fav of mine.
let's comment the plot now:
-The very fact that they killed off Sybil like that, I don't know...just say Basil divorced her (or the contrary, which is more likely) and she went her own way somewhere really really far away, she doesn't really have to die to write her off.
-Back to the thing that now Basil is like a mummy or something: it surprises me he can turn a smartphone on tbh HAHAHAHHAHAHAH. idk I imagine him as being not too keen on technology, maybe since the release of the first home computers
-Let's now have a brief word about the cheating on Sybil trope: IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, END OF THE STORY. Basil may have been sexually repressed, as some state, but I don't think he would really fuck a guest just like that, he would never have the balls (and interest) to. I mean, he knew Sybil would have killed him for good if she found out (and I'm sure she would have somehow, I just trust her okay). Plus he seems the type of guy who wasn't really playing about his set of morals. But maybe there still might be a teeny tiny chance he might have done it and got away with it? Well I'm sure that would make him the most hated man on earth just like his creator John. Bye bye "most beloved character" title :/.
-Him being in the Caribbean would mean a longer and not as equally good edition of "The Germans" episode. Now this point is a quite delicate one, because 1 honestly it's true you can no longer make race diversity jokes without having the OBLIVIOUS public coming at you because they don't understand when a racist joke is SATIRE about racist people or JUST racist, it's all on the context. 2 As we all know, John isn't (and imo has never been) the most admirable person when it comes to talking about diversity and all that dance and, as many are afraid of, I'm too afraid he would insert some "racist" phrases that are probably JUST racist and no longer SATIRE as it was in "The Germans" since, you know, he seems to have gone completely nuts on a random day of 2019 and he's changed COMPLETELY. 3 honestly, John is a smart person after all, maybe he will still manage to make BASIL look racist as always and not HIM HIMSELF (what I'm saying is: he must still be able to diversify between what BASIL would say and think and what HE would say and think).
-idk the type of stuff Camilla did because it's mostly unknown movies, but not the cool type like wow this movie should be more known, no I think she starred in that type of "2$ budget movie white middle aged women watch" (I'm white too ofc but not as white as an american so let me use this expression). Plus she's a standup comedian soooo...I've never really like series written by stand up comedians, except Seinfeld tbh (even tho I'm not a fan of Jerry Seinfeld in general). Maybe she'll lack that something that a "witty-at-times" serie like Fawlty Towers needs. But again I don't know her and I hope to be wrong.
IN CONCLUSION I'd like to say that honestly I'd give it a watch, illegally of course, John shan't see a single shelling coming from my view of the reboot. But who knows? Maybe he'll prove all of us wrong by writing another great thing? Maybe not as great as the 1975/1979 version but still acceptable? Maybe it will even have its deep moments who knows...
PERSONALLY I already know I wouldn't like it as I am more old school than Basil could ever be, and I despise anything made after 1990s/2000s and I cringe everytime I hear a reference to social networks (or internet itself) or today's, inexistent let me add, so called "pop culture". Maybe this wouldn't be the case as it's not needed? Idk we'll see when and IF the series will be made. I only hope it won't be a sort of "Cleese propaganda" and the umpteenth "Cleese and daughter thing that is actually kinda cringe, Camilla should have stuck to modelling" type of thing (it may sound harsh but I don't really like standup comedians)

This might be a bit odd to say but I personally liked how Insomniac Games didn't release much info about Spider-Man 2, at least compared to what they did with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
When Rift Apart was coming close to releasing in 2021 there would be a new video, pic, or article nearly every week that would include something new about the upcoming game, which in the end I think kind of slightly spoiled the game as well as overhyped it a bit.
I can understand why they did this as it had been over 5 years since the last Ratchet & Clank game (8 for a continuation of the original timeline) and Insomniac Games likely wanted to remind people of the franchise, while also showing off all the new features the game (which was also a bit of a PS5 launch game) would now have thanks the new technology of the PS5.
Still when Insomniac Games does reveal the next Ratchet & Clank game, I hope they reveal less details about it than they did with Rift Apart. That being said after seeing how much bigger Spider-Man 2 is compared to the last 2 Spider-Man games, I could see Insomniac Games making the next Ratchet & Clank game bigger then Rift Apart. If it is, then I think it would help prevent such a problem from happening.

#9 Captain America: Winter Soldier
Now that we went over my #10, now I'm here to discuss #9, Captain America Winter Soldier. Everything about this movie is almost perfect. The plot line is extremely entertaining, and I LOVE how it explains unanswered questions from previous movies. Plus, it sets up perfect story lines for the upcoming ones with the little easter eggs found within it.
Tumblr media
To start off, this movie is really the origin for my crush on Sebastian Stan. As soon as I saw this movie, I immediately was fascinated with his acting skills... and his looks. He made it so I was afraid of his character that doesn't even speak, only because whenever you activate the Winter Soldier, everything goes away, and it's just about the mission. No feelings, no considerations, just the mission, and that's the scariest part about him. However, at the same time, he made me feel sympathy for him because of his sad backstory and the pain he felt because he didn't want this. I'm so upset there isn't more detail about him further on the MCU movies. I would love to have the Winter soldier backstories and side stories in a TV show, not only because of his fascinating character, but because Sebastian Stan portrayed it so well and it would be such an interesting topic.
Tumblr media
To continue, I also love the friendship between Bucky (AKA the Winter Soldier) and Sam. The love hate relationship always cracks me up, and they also happen to be the funniest in the movie, so the two bickering is just bound to be hilarious. This aspect of the movie always kind of reminded me of myself and my brother fighting. Not only are we the funniest in the family, but we have that love hate relationship with one and other.
Tumblr media
I remember seeing this movie in theatres with my two older brothers and thinking it was the coolest thing in the world. Although I didn't fully understand why the characters were fighting each other no matter how many times my brother explained it, I just watched it for the fight scenes... and Sebastian Stan.
Tumblr media
The scenes were so action packed and not really repetitive, which is nice to see. I can really see the emotion in the fights between Cap and Bucky. Cap is just so conflicted, because Bucky was his absolute best friend and he was astounded to see him in this time period and, in this condition, but didn't know how to help him. But part of me would get annoyed because Cap would just let Bucky go every time when he could easily put a stop to him. But then it would make me think of my lifelong best friend, Madison, and how I'd probably do the same in this situation.
Tumblr media
···
This movie is also when HYDRA (the villains) are introduced. It gives such a good sneak peek on their power and technology that they have and aren't afraid to use. It's terrifying how undercover their whole system is, so I never knew what they'd do next when the characters and I were least expecting it. Likewise, it doesn't go too far into detail about HYDRA which told me right off the bat that they'd be in further movies and a pretty big deal. (good for me, bad for avengers ;)
Tumblr media
To conclude, like any Marvel movie released before 2021, lol, they exuded it perfectly. I love the characters, the intense plot line, and how it's so action packed, it literally never gets boring. Which serves me well, because of my short attention span. I love how it is a movie that leads from other movies and leads into further movies, it's not just something you can watch without seeing other ones first (which gives my mom and I more of an excuse to watch more than one Marvel movie in a day hehe) Although it had some amazing aspects, it is #9 just because I didn't love the ending (I won't spoil it for you guys though, but take it from me)
Don't miss out on #8! Coming out next week!

Craig McCracken - further research
His Career and Work
In 1993, Craig was recruited by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons (now Cartoon Network Studios) to work as an art director on the series 2 Stupid Dogs, but as his first job in the animation industry, he was never really happy with how that show worked.
While McCracken was working at Hanna-Barbera, studio president Fred Seibert started a brand new project: an animation incubator with 48 brand new cartoons that are each about seven minutes long. What a Cartoon!, as it was known, inspired McCracken to continue working on his Whoopass Girls! idea from his work at CalArts. He recalled that the network could not market a show with the word "ass" in it, so two of his friends came up with name ‘The Powerpuff Girls’ as a substitute for the original title.
As a backstory note how it all started, in June 1991, McCracken was in his first year in the character animation program of CalArts and drew three girls with large eyes, visually inspired by the paintings of Margaret Keane on a small sheet of orange construction paper as a birthday card design for his brother.
His new work with a refined plot, "The Powerpuff Girls in: Meat Fuzzy Lumkins", premiered on February 20, 1995, on Cartoon Network's World Premiere Toons, along with its follow-up, "Crime 101", which aired on January 28, 1996. The first short to be picked up by the network was Tartakovsky's Dexter's Laboratory, which McCracken contributed to in the early seasons.
The fourth cartoon to greenlit a full series was McCracken's Powerpuff Girls. It premiered as a short in 1995 and debuted on November 18, 1998 as full half-hour episodes that was aired until its final episode on March 25, 2005. The Powerpuff Girls aired on Cartoon Network for six seasons, three specials, and a feature film, with the final episode airing on March 25, 2005. A total of 78 episodes were aired in addition to two shorts, a Christmas special, the film, a tenth anniversary special, and a special episode using CGI technology. Various spin-off media include an anime, three CD soundtracks, a home video collection, comic books, a series of video games, a 2016 reboot series, and an upcoming second reboot, as well as various licensed merchandise.
The series has been nominated for six Emmy Awards, nine Annie Awards, and a Kids' Choice Award during its run.
In 2002, McCracken also directed The Powerpuff Girls Movie, a prequel to his series. Although the film received generally positive reviews, unfortunately it was a box office failure.
Leaving The Powerpuff Girls after four seasons, McCracken focused on his next project; Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. He created this series with his wife Lauren Faust and Mike Moon and it premiered on Cartoon Network with the 90-minute television special "House of Bloo's" on August 13, 2004. The show also won Emmy and Annie awards and ran for six seasons, all directed by McCracken, ending on May 3, 2009.
He became the executive producer of The Cartoonstitute; a brand-new Cartoon Network showcase project, in April 2008. He left Cartoon Network in 2009 after 17 years of employment when the network began to emphasize on live-action and reality shows. In August 2013, he created Wander Over Yonder for Disney Television Animation and Disney Channel. Following the cancellation of Wander Over Yonder, McCracken pitched Disney a new show based on his 2009 comic strip The Kid from Planet Earth. The concept was later dismissed by Disney, and in 2017 he finally departed the company. After presenting his idea to Netflix, Kid Cosmic was selected as the working title. On February 2, 2021, the show made its debut, and it aired till February 3, 2022.
It marks McCracken's return to the superhero genre after The Powerpuff Girls and the first of his original works to include a serialized style. He pitched Netflix with 10 proposals in August 2021, however due to Netflix Animation's huge layoffs, he eventually left in April 2022.
On July 18, 2022, it was revealed that McCracken will make two reboots at Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe of the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
McCracken was also awarded the Winsor McCay Award in 2023 for his "unparalleled achievement and exceptional contributions to animation" at the Annie Awards ceremony.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been described as “The most important UN agency you have never heard of.” The ITU’s upcoming quadrennial Plenipotentiary Conference, to be held in Bucharest, Romania this September 26th through October 14th, will host the most important election you have never heard of.
The ITU was founded in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union for the purpose of facilitating cross-border operations of the new technology. Since then, it has become a key standard-setter for telecommunications networks. The ITU proudly proclaims, “Every time you make a phonecall via the mobile, access the Internet or send an email, you are benefitting from the work of ITU.”
Technically, the statement is correct since the standards for fiber optic cable and mobile networks are a part of the ITU process. It is a bit hyperbolic, however, when it comes to the internet where the ITU has played a less determinative role.
The internet grew apart from the ITU. The standards by which the internet operates are not ITU standards, but were developed by a “multistakeholder process” in which technologists, companies, civil society, and governments reached consensus. The vehicle for such internet standards is the Internet Engineering Task Force, one of several voluntary institutions that together maintain the internet as we know it. Now, Russia and China are seeking to move internet governance to the ITU where bottom-up design of internet standards could be replaced with top-down decisions based on the politics of nation-states.
Atop the agenda for Bucharest is the selection of a new ITU Secretary-General. The election — decided by votes of the member nations — is shaping up as a tussle between a candidate who is American and one who is Russian. The American, Doreen Bogdan-Martin, is a veteran of almost three decades of experience at the ITU, and the first woman to head one of the agency’s three major bureaus. The Russian candidate, Rashid Ismailov, is a former deputy minister in the Russian Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, and a former Huawei executive. Full disclosure: I know Doreen and have seen her skills at work.
Lurking behind the scenes in this election is much more than simply who will occupy the Secretary-General’s spacious office in Geneva. It is a competition between two visions of the internet: an open internet, or a kind of state-controlled internet that resembles Russia’s and China’s.
International tension over internet policy was illustrated at the ITU-sponsored 2012 World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT). After the majority of nations voted to, among other things, increase ITU’s authority over the internet, the United States refused to sign the resulting treaty.
In June 2021, the leaders of China and Russia signed a pact which is now manifesting itself at the ITU. The agreement explained its purpose as “ensuring that all States have equal rights to participate in global-network governance, increasing their role in this process and preserving the sovereign right of States to regulate the national segment of the internet.” The language may be lofty sounding, but its effect is low-down. The call for nation-states to take over internet governance is a call to de-democratize the world’s most important network. “In the annals of diplomatic hypocrisy, this accord is a stunner, even by Russian and Chinese standards,” observed The Washington Post’s David Ignatius.
As if politicizing the internet is not sufficient, the Russians and Chinese also seek to force the redesign of the internet’s underlying standard. Currently, the internet is built on the lingua franca of a common technical standard called “internet protocol” or “IP.” China has proposed a new standard — called “New IP” — that would give governments more control over internet activities, including the individualized determination of who gets on and what they can do. They want that standard to be driven by the ITU.
The ITU has 193 voting member nations. The most important election no one has ever heard of for the most important network of the 21st century will be by secret ballot.

Horner addresses speculation over Neweys future as he insists tech guru will be at Red Bull for many years to come
Christian Horner has expressed full confidence that Adrian Newey’s long-term future will lie with Red Bull, shutting down any talk that the team’s Chief Technical Officer could be on the move to a rival outfit. F1 design guru Newey joined Red Bull ahead of the 2006 season – following highly-successful stints with Williams and McLaren – and played a key role in the team rising from midfield runners to title winners. READ MORE: Horner responds to Russell’s suggestion that Red Bull are sandbagging with their RB19 Indeed, Newey’s designs have yielded five constructors’ championships and six drivers’ crowns for Red Bull so far, including a run of title doubles from 2010 to 2013, and another brace in 2022. Newey and his notebook have been a feature at race weekends for many years Meanwhile, Newey been taking on additional projects through the Red Bull Advanced Technologies division, dovetailing his F1 efforts with an attempt at the America’s Cup sailing competition and the creation of the upcoming RB17 hypercar. Speaking to Sky Sports News about Newey’s future, Horner said: “His heart is still very much in Formula 1 and his commitment to the team is… It’s not something… We don’t talk about contracts or longevity of contracts, but he’ll be here for many years to come. TECH TUESDAY: Three ways the teams have tried to claw back performance under F1’s radical aero regs “He’s such an important part of our team and popular part of our team. It’s great to have him with us for the long-term, but also to be involved in projects like some of the things that we’re now getting involved in.” Adrian Newey’s most successful F1 car designs Car Season Wins Win % Red Bull RB19 2023* 3 / 3 100 Red Bull RB18 2022 17 / 22 77.27 Williams FW18 1996 12 / 16 75 Red Bull RB9 2013 13 / 19 68.42 Red Bull RB7 2011 12 / 19 63.15 Williams FW15C 1993 10 / 16 62.5 Williams FW14B 1992 10 / 16 62.5 McLaren MP4/13 1998 9 / 16 56.25 McLaren MP4-20 2005 10 / 19 52.63 Red Bull RB16B 2021 11 / 22 50 Red Bull RB6 2010 9 / 19 47.36 *Season ongoing Asked if he raises a smile when he hears speculation over Newey’s future, Horner added: “There’s always going to be rumours in this paddock, and that’s Formula 1.” Red Bull have won all three races so far this season and sit 58 points clear of nearest rivals Aston Martin in the constructors’ standings, while Max Verstappen leads team mate Sergio Perez by 15 points in the drivers’ battle. via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

It continues to amaze me how many apparently fully-grown adults continue to struggle with the concept of “I am not the target audience of this piece of media, and that’s OK.”
I really do think it’s part of the same phenomenon of “The Kids Today are bad and wrong and foolish because they use technology that didn’t yet exist when I was a child and had different formative experiences from mine that shaped them in different ways.” They hate it when you point this out to them, though.

I’ve been numbly reading about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision striking down NY’s concealed carry law and I’m just devastated. With all the news about the expected upcoming Roe v Wade decision this was not on my radar at all. It never once occurred to me that the Supreme Court with expand gun rights in this way and in the wake of so many horrific mass shootings.
There is something very wrong with my country, and I worry that we will be living with the repercussions for decades.

My #1 post of 2022
Everything I’ve learned about “Our Flag Means Death” from Tumblr
Without having seen an episode.
It looks good! I’d watch it if I had HBO Max, but I don’t, so.
Stede is a gentleman pirate who kind of looks like Aziraphale. I think he might not be very good at being a pirate, but his crew likes him anyway.
There is a sewing contest to make Stede’s flags. One of the flags has a cat on it?
Stede gets sick or injured or something and is laid up in bed.
Blackbeard, who is also called Ed and is played by Taika Waititi, visits Stede in his bedchamber.
Blackbeard wears all leather except for one arm which is sleeveless and covered in tattoos. Everyone, including the showrunners, agree that an all-leather outfit would be uncomfortable for a pirate of the Caribbean, but that the outfit nonetheless looks hot.
Blackbeard’s flag has a cool skeleton wearing a pirate hat and holding a spear. Early on, some fans were concerned that the flag was historically inaccurate because the real Blackbeard flag had a bleeding heart. This will be important later.
Blackbeard pokes around and looks at Stede’s stuff and is very intrigued.
At some point they try on each others’ clothes and at one point (possibly the same point??) they go to a fancy ball.
Their two crews are initially suspicious of this situation and each other but eventually they all become friends and/or fall in love except for one guy on Blackbeard’s crew who persistently Does Not Like Stede.
Speaking of the crew, one of them is nonbinary and initially wears a beard and fake nose but then they don’t, and eventually they fall in love with someone too.
At one point Blackbeard, Stede and another, foppish-looking crewmember go on some kind of expedition in the jungle. Blackbeard spends a lot of time making heart eyes at Stede and foppish-looking crewmember spends a lot of time observing Blackbeard’s heart eyes and at some point in that episode the foppish looking guy says “This is happening”.
I think foppish looking guy has a boyfriend too, or at least a love interest.
Blackbeard and Stede get captured by enemies and are made to lie facedown on the deck. Stede says something like “You came back!” and Blackbeard says something like “I never left” and then the camera pulls back and Blackbeard gently nudges Stede’s foot with his own.
Blackbeard shaves his beard off??
Ed and Stede are sitting on the beach. Ed tells Stede that Stede makes Ed happy. They kiss and then Stede tells Ed that Ed makes Stede happy. They make plans to run away together to China.
Then - tragedy strikes, I assume??? Something happens and evidently they do not run away to China together.
Ed gets drunk and wraps himself in a blanket (is it Stede’s blanket?) and sings, I think? And everyone feels sorry for him.
Stede goes back to his wife and kids, but they don’t actually want him around. Stede’s wife tries to kill him, and he leaves and gets on a boat to presumably become a pirate again and maybe find Ed?
But wait, what’s this? Blackbeard blackened his eyes and painted a beard on his face (?) and now he is Angry! And he abandons Stede’s crew on the tiniest island ever!
Close-up on Blackbeard’s flag, which now has a new panel sewn on of a bleeding heart, the same one that history buffs said was missing in the early episodes, symbolizing his broken heart, dun-dun-dunnnn!!!
How did I do?

NIGHTWISH Announces 'Human. :II: Nature. (Tour Edition)'
NIGHTWISH will release "Human. :II: Nature. (Tour Edition)" on November 18 via Nuclear Blast. It will be made available as a luxurious 2CD plus Blu-ray digipak and include the band's latest album alongside NIGHTWISH's two interactive experiences in May 2021 when the group performed in a tavern called "The Islanders Arms" built in a virtual world. On both nights, the fans experienced a one-and-a-half-hour performance, hearing songs live off "Human. :II: Nature." for the first time ever. Each of the two nights had its own slightly different setlist. Originally available just as a DVD release and on Blu-ray in Japan, this new edition is the ultimate version to re-experience this unique and magical show NIGHTWISH created after their world tour had to be canceled.
Half a year in preparation and premiered on May 28 and May 29, 2021, "An Evening With Nighwish In A Virtual World" was not just a regular streaming show. It was an exceptionally ambitious production, allowing fans to follow the band playing live in an astonishing 3D world, designed according to the band's vision, while interacting with each other.
NIGHTWISH's two interactive experiences drew 150,000 viewers, setting the record for the largest paid virtual concert in Finland's history. Most of the viewers came from Europe and North America, but the performance was a truly global event, with fans in 108 countries purchasing tickets to the show and the box office gross exceeding one million euro.
"This is definitely one of the coolest things NIGHTWISH has ever done," the band comments. "Entwining visual elements, technology and music in such an extraordinary way offers a unique experience to us all."
About 30 people from seven different countries, many of them longtime fans, put everything they had into the game to craft a high-quality virtual concert featuring a NIGHTWISH-themed tavern, elaborate animations and 3D models that provided an atmospheric and inimitable stage for the group's 100-minute-long, stellar career-spanning set brilliantly mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox.
Celebrating the announcement, NIGHTWISH has released a video for "Noise", taken from "An Evening With Nightwish In A Virtual World".

NIGHTWISH keyboardist and main songwriter Tuomas Holopainen recently spoke to Rauta about what fans can expect from the band's upcoming follow-up to "Human. :II: Nature.". He said: "I feel it's gonna be the third part of a trilogy started by 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' [2015] followed by 'Human. :II: Nature.' and then finished by this upcoming album."
According to Tuomas, NIGHTWISH's next LP will cover previously uncharted ground while continuing in the more cinematic style that has characterized some of the band's recent efforts.
"There's always something new," he explained. "It's important for my own mental health, when it comes to writing music, that you need to search for some new territories and try not to repeat yourself. And that can be heard on the upcoming album, for sure, already on the demo that we've done."
Asked if NIGHTWISH's upcoming LP will once again be an exploration of evolutionary science, as was the case with the previous two releases, Tuomas said: "Yes and no. It sails on the same waters, but there's some new surprises there as well."
Holopainen went on to say that NIGHTWISH fans will have to wait a while before hearing new music from the band. "We'll enter the studio next year and the album is gonna come out maybe early 2024," he said.
In August, Holopainen told Knotfest that he and his bandmates had spent "the past few weeks" listening to a demo of the next NIGHTWISH album. "Because of COVID, lots of free time, I decided to use that well, so I wrote all the songs for the next album, demoed it, wrote the lyrics, and now we have been brainstorming over it with these guys," he said, referring to drummer Kai Hahto and the rest of NIGHTWISH.
Added Kai: "Yeah, it's been great. The six of us, in the same room, listening to fresh demos for the upcoming album, checking the lyrics and the vocal parts and stuff like that. So it's been wonderful. This man [Tuomas] has been really productive."
Earlier in the month, Tuomas told Rock Sverige that he spent "about a year" working on the music and lyrics for the next NIGHTWISH album, "and then we finished the demos about two months ago. We're hitting the studio next summer, so in about a year from now," he revealed. "Like I said, might as well use the time for something."
Asked if he got any kind of inspiration from the pandemic, Tuomas said: "Yeah, lyrically there's a couple of things that reflects the pandemic, but not in the way you would expect."
"Human. :II: Nature." was released in April 2020. The follow-up to 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" was a double album containing nine tracks on the main CD and one long track, divided into eight chapters, on CD 2.
In August, NIGHTWISH announced the addition of bassist Jukka Koskinen (WINTERSUN) as an official member of the band. Koskinen, who made his live debut with NIGHTWISH at the band's two interactive experiences, had spent the last year touring with NIGHTWISH as a session musician.

Leduc-raised director set to premiere short film at Edmonton International Film Festival

Real life son and father Shea Johnston (left) and Shaun Johnston (right) star in Matt Prazak's 'Theft,' set to premiere at the Edmonton International Film Festival Sept. 26. (Supplied)
Seeing his short film on the big screen has been a long time coming for Leduc-raised director Matt Prazak.
After filming in July 2021, Theft will finally find audiences when it debuts at the Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF) Sept. 26.
The film stars Shaun Johnston of Heartland fame and his real-life son Shea, and follows a man in his sixties living with Alzheimer’s and his struggle to decipher the world around him. It has recently been nominated for four Rosie’s at the upcoming Alberta Media Production Industries Association Awards, including Best Male Performance and Best Scripted Production Under 30 Minutes.
“I personally love to tell these small, intense stories but still trying to capture it as big as possible. I tell everyone I’m always chasing the big little moment,” Prazak said.
Prazak grew up in Leduc alongside his three siblings and decided to pursue film after enrolling in the media studies and the film & television broadcast program at Leduc Composite High School. From there Prazak made his way to the film and video production program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary — where he has resided ever since.
“I remember going to Leduc Cinemas often as a kid and just being enamoured by what I was watching,” Prazak said. ”Leduc has always been in my heart. I feel like so many of my projects are influenced by my time [there].”
Prazak has specialized in drama, where he finds he can achieve a lot with a little and pull the best performances he can from the character-driven roles. His main director influences include Richard Linklater and Sarah Polley.
Alongside the release of the film, Prazak is working with Anything for Alzheimer’s to fundraise and raise awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.
“I always felt like this had to be a two-for-one scenario where I wanted to make the short film but I also wanted to do a fundraiser and try to achieve something bigger [to] combine art with activism,” Prazak said.
Last month Prazak won season 15 of CBC’s Short Film Face Off for his film Landline, earning him $30,000 towards his next production — a feature film that he plans to announce soon.
“It’s pivotal to me to tell stories in Alberta and have even the smallest impact on the independent scene here,” Prazak said. “I’d like to make stuff that can be shown to wider audiences in Leduc and then hopefully peak a few younger kids interests and show them that this is something that’s possible.”

The Edible Oil Market In Vietnam Is Now Growing At A Steady Rate, With Palm Oil Dominating The Industry: Ken Research
Buy Now
Farm Mechanization: Although Farm mechanization in Vietnam is still in its nascent stages, it is now seeing a sudden rise due to favourable and targeted government policies. Lack of access to farm power is one of the primary reasons for the slow uptake of farm mechanization and hence the non-intensification of farm productivity, particularly among small and marginal farmers. Moreover, the sector faces critical challenges in terms of a large share of small and marginal farmers, declining land holding sizes, high cost of farm machinery and equipment, inappropriate technology, undeveloped markets, complex operations, maze of legislation and insufficient policy framework. A steady change has been witnessed in recent years with farmers being able to access farm machinery on a rental basis. Furthermore, Substantial public investments including those in agricultural R&D and irrigation infrastructure, as well as the acceleration of the economic transformation in the county, are likely to stimulate the demand for machine use.
Lifestyle Changes: As urbanization increases in developing countries, dietary habits and traditional meal patterns are expected to shift towards processed foods that have a high content of vegetable oil. Vegetable oil consumption in Vietnam is, therefore, expected to remain high due to high population growth and consequent urbanization. Inclination towards processed food has also been exaggerated by a busy lifestyle & a decline in the desire to cook meals at home. On the other hand, people who are health conscious are expressing their desire to purchase & consume healthy meals containing healthy & nutritious oils. This has led to many people purchasing premium products thereby increasing the demand for high-quality edible oil.

Rising Disposable Income: With the annual income increasing, individuals are expressing their inclination towards better quality food products including edible oils. This can also be attributed to them having extra money to save or spend which compels a person to go ahead with premium products in every sphere. Moreover, a rise in income is also the root cause for a person trying to maintain a certain lifestyle.
Covid Impact: Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam has seen an increase in the production and consumption of refined vegetable oils, especially rice bran oil. Moreover, palm oil exports have also increased manifold even though there was a decrease in the imports of the same in 2021. According to TDM, in 2020/21, Vietnam imported 915,000.0 tons of palm oil, down 9.0% compared to the previous year due to COVID-19 restrictions that impacted the food service, food processing, and tourism sectors. Palm oil accounted for about 92.0% of the total vegetable oil imports in 2020/21 due to its low price. The two main palm oil suppliers are Indonesia and Malaysia.
Analysts at Ken Research in their latest publication, Vietnam Edible Oil Market Outlook 2026F– driven by Rise in Disposable Income, Prevalence of Health Problems and Increasing Inclination towards Healthy Lifestyle observed that the market will experience a steady uptick in the upcoming years. Rising income levels & demand for high-quality oil are expected to be the main growth drivers in the upcoming years. Growing disposable income, an ageing population, and a preference for healthier lifestyles are some of the factors driving the market’s expansion. It is expected that the Vietnam Edible Oil market will grow at a CAGR of 7.7% (2021-2026) for the foreseeable future.

Historically Challenged Brazilian Science & Technology Poised for Change with a Lula Victory
Tumblr media
Brazilian science and technology have recently been in the news. Linked to the results of October’s contest between Bolsonaro and Lula, the sectors’ future will be highly dependent on the upcoming election’s outcome.
In retrospect, during his tenure as leader, Bolsonaro has not been a friend to the scientific community. Slashing funds to FNDCT (the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development) in 2021, Brazil’s current president has deliberately channeled financing away from scientific agencies, opting instead to develop infrastructure, agriculture, health and education, reminiscent of Trump’s policies that Bolsonaro has so closely modeled himself on.
In January, the Bolsonaro administration continued its three year anti-science campaign by structuring budget cuts and stifling academic autonomy, cutting US$ 110 million from Brazil’s Scientific and Technology Ministry, and withholding US$ 490 million from FNDCT.
But there may be reason for hope. The scientific community’s backlash to Bolsonaro indicates clear resistance, as the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the Society of Chemistry and the National Association of Graduate Students have all voiced concerns politically. And with a possible return to PT leadership next year, Lula has formally declared his intent to revitalize Brazilian science, technology and innovation, particularly pledging to universalize digital inclusion.

ALMA makes first-ever detection of gas in a circumplanetary disk Scientists using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA)— in which the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is a partner— to study planet formation have made the first-ever detection of gas in a circumplanetary disk. What’s more, the detection also suggests the presence of a very young exoplanet. The results of the research are published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters. Circumplanetary disks are an amassing of gas, dust, and debris around young planets. These disks give rise to moons and other small, rocky objects, and control the growth of young, giant planets. Studying these disks in their earliest stages may help shed light on the formation of our own Solar System, including that of Jupiter’s Galilean moons, which scientists believe formed in a circumplanetary disk of Jupiter around 4.5 billion years ago. While studying AS 209— a young star located roughly 395 light-years from Earth in the constellation Ophiuchus— scientists observed a blob of emitted light in the middle of an otherwise empty gap in the gas surrounding the star. That led to the detection of the circumplanetary disk surrounding a potential Jupiter-mass planet. Scientists are watching the system closely, both because of the planet’s distance from its star and the star’s age. The exoplanet is located more than 200 astronomical units, or 18.59 billion miles, away from the host star, challenging currently accepted theories of planet formation. And if the host star’s estimated age of just 1.6 million years holds true, this exoplanet could be one of the youngest ever detected. Further study is needed, and scientists hope that upcoming observations with the James Webb Space Telescope will confirm the planet’s presence. “The best way to study planet formation is to observe planets while they’re forming. We are living in a very exciting time when this happens thanks to powerful telescopes, such as ALMA and JWST,” said Jaehan Bae, a professor of astronomy at the University of Florida and the lead author of the paper. Scientists have long suspected the presence of circumplanetary disks around exoplanets, but until recently were unable to prove it. In 2019, ALMA scientists made the first-ever detection of a circumplanetary, moon-forming disk while observing the young exoplanet PDS 70c, and confirmed the find in 2021. The new observations of gas in a circumplanetary disk at AS 209 may shed further light on the development of planetary atmospheres and the processes by which moons are formed. The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is a facility of the National Science Foundation, operated under cooperative agreement by Associated Universities, Inc. About ALMA The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), an international astronomy facility, is a partnership of the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS) of Japan in cooperation with the Republic of Chile. ALMA is funded by ESO on behalf of its Member States, by NSF in cooperation with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and by NINS in cooperation with the Academia Sinica (AS) in Taiwan and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI). ALMA construction and operations are led by ESO on behalf of its Member States; by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), managed by Associated Universities, Inc. (AUI), on behalf of North America; and by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) on behalf of East Asia. The Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) provides the unified leadership and management of the construction, commissioning and operation of ALMA.
