whatever force had viscerally thrown me into a robot (and certain aspects of sci-fi) fixation now has me playing the metroid games and considering playing the metroid prime, doom, and halo games

#halo is less likely because i feel like a big part of that game is its multiplayer even though it has singleplayer campaign #i specify metroid prime because the metroid prime games are first person shooters #and so metroid prime halo and doom are shooter games #first person shooters to be exact #and im like. Not a big fan of those types of games #bcuz theyre usually associated with pvp #and also because my reaction time and hand-eye coordination is not that hot for those types of games ajdhsj #BUT SOMEHOW. IM NOW CONSIDERING THE M. PRIME DOOM AND HALO GAMES. #BECAUSE OF THIS NEW FIXATION THAT I GENUINELY DONT KNOW HOW IT STARTED???????? #update: i remembered how i got it. #so i liked robots already but not enough to be a fixation #and then i played flight rising recently and messed around with subspecies lore on therr revolving around robot hivemind dragons #and then i guess that kickstart drove my brain to be like “we are going to fixate on robots now”

#something is very obviously different about these two compared to my normal images on this blog. i acknowledge this #also the sv model is Really good. and since they always stare straight at the camera anyway… and no one pays attention to the background… #and the only high-quality phantump model i could find was so horribly shiny that its eyes were just white voids #in my defense‚ phantump always just stare straight at you in game #the lighting is different‚ yeah. that's probably the dead giveaway. beyond the background. but like. i'm the only being on the planet who #really likes phantump anyway. i feel like it's a generally forgettable pokémon to most folks #phantump #HELLO this one is a weird one. i have some explaining to do. so when i did this one i didn't know how to edit models really at all #and when i got the models for these‚ the xy models were super shiny. shiny to the point that it made their eyes fuckin invisible #and i decided that since you could barely tell it was phantump‚ i needed a different way to get these images #i remembered that in the SV dlc‚ every time you find a wild phantump‚ it just fucking. stares. at you. and i was like. aha #i kinda remembered because of the test stream that i did. tumblr user alligayytorr (am i getting the right amount of Ys) said #“haha i am getting a sneak peek” when i zoomed the camera in on a phantump. and i remembered that. and i was like. i can utilize this #and ended up using just an in-game screenshot of SV in replacement of the regular content. later on‚ after that #once we got into gen 7 and it became less and less reliable to find models‚ i had to learn how to edit them manually to remove the shine #i am a software dev. not a 3d modeler. this ended up coming down to editing the code of the models directly (which i ended up writing a #script to automate). now‚ today‚ january 22nd (the day of me writing these tags and updating this post)‚ i remembered this post was in the #queue and was not normal. so i went back‚ ran the script on the phantump and trevenant models‚ and unshinified them #then edited these two posts to be normal. i have left the original pictures i took under the cut for reference and as bonuses #because i really enjoy phantump. so that's why those images are there‚ and that's why these tags are here #just for posterity's sake‚ the folks who come here mostly for my commentary‚ i've left the ORIGINAL tags of the post when i initially #made it with the SV pictures up at the top (i wanted to rearrange them‚ but tumblr makes that Very difficult‚ so i left them as-is) #so if these tags are confusing to read i Apologize. but i hope now that you're at the bottom you understand what happened #i'm gonna go edit the trevenant post now

I don't know how many people on here read (or did read) Pokemon Adventures, but do y'all remember the end of the FRLG arc? When Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow are fucking turned into stone and the arc just ends there?

I remember being in the fucking trenches when we were still waiting for a resolution to that. It took a few years I think, and the entire time I was so upset because "When will you help my friends :((((" (I was like 13 at this time lmao)

The payoff in the Emerald arc ends up being worth it but people who didn't have to wait in the trenches to see the Dex Holders survive their predicament don't know the pain the fandom was in lmao. I still vividly remember waiting for Coronis's monthly updates on the Serebii forums (Coronis was the resident manga expert who would update with summaries and pics from the latest chapter releases in Japan).

I have a gripe with people saying “What do you mean David overshadowed Ncuti, his performance was so good and he stole the show!”

I do agree with the people talking about how good Ncuti’s performance was, but I think they’re missing the point. It’s about the principle of Ncuti getting his introduction to himself. It’s not about Ncuti’s performance but the fact RTD chose to write Ncuti having to share his screentime with his predecessor during regeneration when no other Doctor has had to do that for their introduction.

I am never drawing splatoon weapons again! holy shit that fucking sucked! #on the bright side I got to mess around a bit with some hair style concepts I’ve been rotating in my head #also I’m still working on giving these guys an updated story but my basic idea is that they’re a professional tower control team that has #been facing some conflicts as of late due to them all getting old enough to start having aspirations outside of their team #cherry is from the domes but her parents left with her when she was around 10 #blast went to the same school as her and the two became pretty close friends as selective mute buddies #then at some point cherry caught wind of this cool new sport called tower control and was like woahhh I wanna do that #so she just went up to the first person near the battle lobby she could find and was like hey how do I join? #and he got super excited since he has a reputation for being incapable of shutting up so someone willing coming up to him came as a shock #they showed her where to get weapons and how to join battles and the two became battle buddies real quick #this lead to blast getting super worried and anxious as she didn’t want to see her only friend get hurt or stolen from her #at which point cherry was like oh I know! why don’t you come battle with us? #and blast was like wait wait wait no what if I die and dont come back and then die again :[ #they managed to come to a compromise for a while tho and eventually blast was able to just barely squish past her fear enough to start #being kind of interested in tower control as she had started watching the other two play #and while she was still anxious abt the idea eventually she sheepishly admitted she wanted to give it a try #and she ended up really liking it! so the three kept playing together #and eventually they started to feel more and more like an actual team and egg noticed #they had been scouting a team to join for a lil while now and after getting to play with the three quite a few times and getting on friendly #terms with them they were like hey what if we became like an actual team who do tournaments and stuff

#this may not mean much to those who haven't followed me for long #but for my long term followers I thought I'd share a super positive update about my oldest 17 yo son #you may remember that for years he's suffered immensely from anxiety depression and panic attacks #he's since been diagnosed with autism which explains a lot of it (as has my daughter) #but it was so bad we had to take him out of school in 7th grade and it's still questionable whether he'll graduate #he's spent 5 years having almost no social contact other than online & hasn't been able to participate in anything but family events #because of anxiety and panic attacks #but y'all #Y'ALL #he just started his FIRST JOB #we worked with voc rehab & they got him a job at a thrift store run by parents of an autistic child so they know exactly what pace he needs #and he WAS ABLE TO DO IT #you have NO IDEA how amazing this is for him #and how much of a relief it is for me #because this means he's doing better #and he may actually find his way out of this and be able to build himself a bit of a future #it's amazing you just don't know how amazing it is after the last five years of struggles we've been through #so sorry that was a novel but I'm just so proud of him #he has it in him I know that he does #he just needed a break from life for a few years to find that bit of strength
