"Heaven" by UK alt-folk singer songwriter and guitarist @lukedesciscio "A sound at once tortured and tender, confessional and apologetic." - @varioussmallflames ~ Recorded in just 3 days, Heaven is the sound of someone in the right place at the right time. A prolific troubadour by any measure of the term, Luke De-Sciscio’s recording career has been one studded by intense periods of rampant creativity and 2023 is one such vintage year. Four albums flowed with the seasons but there is the sense that each of those records was just an exercise in fine tuning the muscle, such that when Heaven was ready, Luke was waiting. Mercurial, poetic and at times, achingly tortured. Heaven drips like honey down the wall of an asbestos cave. The 9 songs coil into a single revelatory pass, through devotional crooning in the realms of Chris Isaak, up the spirited abandon of Van Morrison and into the bliss-like pool where Jeff Buckley, Emma Ruth Rundle and Chelsea Wolfe lure Jason Molina to a watery-grave. Pure, unfettered and fearless. Heaven is an album which will stand-out, necessarily, from the catalogue of Luke De-Sciscio and whose songs mark the trajectory of a spirit forever at the behest of the truth.

I started my research by looking into existing mystery vinyl rental services...I couldn’t find any. The closest I could get to my concept was regular vinyl subsciption services. An example of this being ‘VinylMoon,’ a subscription based service that delivers unique vinyl records to its members on a monthly basis. The service appears to focus on the visual and artistic aspects of music, as well as introduing it’s members to emerging or ‘under-the-radar’ artists. Due to how different this service is to my concept I found this research only somewhat useful, however it helped me visualise ideas for my service, as well giving me ideas for my branding

Q: What was the last book in verse, prose, or poetry book you read?. It’s 2022 and I believe its important for us to read books about cultures and situations outside of our own and what we know. As a white reader, I always learn something by reading a book with a Black MC written by a Black author. This is a short yet intense book. Vinyl Moon by @mobrowne is about Angel, a teenage girl who is forced to move from her home in California to live with her uncle in Brooklyn. She arrives in Brooklyn with her arm in a sling, but we don’t know what happened. Throughout the story it becomes abundantly clear she was abused by her boyfriend, Darius, who “loved” her. Angel’s mother was also abused by her husband who later left the family. Angel’s life may have been in California, but it wasn’t the best environment for her to grow. In Brooklyn, we see her enrolled in a special homeroom class meant for young girls in leadership and with the help of her teacher and peers, she begins to flourish and make new friends. I love seeing Angel’s journey and struggles along the way. This is a fast paced story and only a brief snapshot into Angel’s life, but I learned a lot, just like Angel. I loved the way this was told, usually in short moments lasting only a few pages, and sometimes in poems.
