VW ID.7 Electric Car Lease

So will the ID.7 be a good EV? Does it have a good range and charging times? So far two key models have been announced including:

  Pro - the usable 77     kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62 times     of 8.0 seconds, 93 mph top speeds and 150 kW (or 201hp). And the     drivetrain will be RWD. Expect a combined winter range of 245 miles with     warmer weather allowing for 335 miles on a full charge. On charging, the     11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the     170 kW DC maximum allowing 28 minute 10 – 80% times. This car a vehicle     fuel equivalent of 152 mpg;

  Pro S - the usable     86 kWh lithium-ion battery will offer 0 – 62     times of 7.0 seconds, 112 mph top speeds and 210 kW (or 282hp). And the     drivetrain will be RWD. Expect a combined winter range of 270 miles with     warmer weather allowing for 370 miles on a full charge. On charging, the     11 kW AC max will allow 9 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the     200 kW DC maximum allowing 27 minute 10 – 80% times. This car a vehicle     fuel equivalent of 153 mpg.

Volkswagen’s EV sales in China decreased by 38% in Q1 2023 compared to last year. According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the Volkswagen brand sold 16,611 EVs in China during the first quarter of 2023. This is a significant decrease from the 27,101 units sold in Q1 2022 and a 56% decrease from the 38,437 units sold in Q4 2022(..)

P.S. European legacy automakers, who ignored affordable electric car mass production technologies, are not ready for a real competitive battle with local leading electric car manufacturers, neither in terms of price nor technical parameters of new cars. Most likely, the new trend that has appeared in China's domestic car market will soon spread to other car markets as well. With Chinese electric car companies entering the European car market, as well as Tesla expanding production volumes, VW will soon start losing market share and profits in its own home market as well...VW ID.3 is way to expensive...

Engineers at ADAC's Test and Technology Center in Landsberg am Lech covered more than 62,000 miles (100,000 kilometers) with a Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S and found that the high-voltage 77-kilowatt-hour battery – available in every ID model – still has a net capacity of 93 percent and shows no abnormalities.

That is far above the 70 percent that VW guarantees as part of its new car warranty over eight years or 100,000 miles of driving.

The test results are encouraging, but there's always that "but...Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S is way too expensive to replace old fossil technology cars, and it can't compete effectively with what real electric car manufacturers have to offer." technology. The MEB platform is much too expensive and labor intensive to manufacture...In addition, the network of non-Tesla charging stations is too unreliable.
