I also think something that's lost in these Wakanda vs Talokan comparisons/criticisms is the fact that Talokan has a more radical approach to protecting their nation PRECISELY because they've faced a more direct threat for a longer amount of time than Wakanda. People try to call Namor's actions 'antiblack' but the ironic thing is that many black people would have more in common with the fictional Talokanil when it comes to having ancestors/family who directly went through colonization rather than viewing it from an insulated area such as Wakanda. Yes it's true that both Wakanda and Talokan have encountered Western imperialist and colonialist powers, but the differences in how they've interacted with these powers/on what terms they've met them are KEY to understanding their dispositions, which would then lead someone to see how weird/off it is to apply real-life, black vs poc dynamics to these nations.

At the end of the day, Talokan (and more specifically Namor) would've approached any other nation (like Wakanda's) regardless of race/ethnicity with their radical approach for taking down a world that has caused so much unjust death and destruction to countless marginalized folks and to the environment in general in its quest for powerful resources. The fact that Wakanda is a black, African nation is relevant to Talokan insofar as it means that they have SOME awareness/sensitivity to the negative effects of colonialism and that, at this particular point in time, there is hope that they may develop a more radical outlook (especially given Shuri's mental state) given the threats they are facing from global powers.

What Talokan (and Namor specifically) fail to account for is the complexity of the kind of experience that a Black American like Riri Williams has and the insidiousness of the reality that her inventions could be misappropriated by her exploitative nation to wreak havoc by stealing resources. Their decision to kill this particular scientist is rather fueled by their recognition of her as a creator of a tool to be used by those Western colonialist nations to further subjugate the world, and consequently as a threat to their safety/security/stability. If Riri Williams were Asian, White, or, yes, even Native American, the same decision would've been made because it is her proximity to these exploitative nations that is the issue.

the Cavia have got to be one of the most interesting factions/syndicates/whatever in WF so far. like i'm still only rank 1 so i dont know shit but they all seem so miserable. I was shocked by Fibonacci's one dialogue, where he's talking about Tagfer's mating calls falling on deaf ears and he goes, "How I wish he would just stop." gnawing at the bars of my enclosure, i can't tell if i hated the titans character reads of each other in this issue or loved it in the 'just you wait till you realize you were wrong about each other' way. like especially dick and roy like just you wait. JUST YOU WAIT!!!!!!!! the tension & fights makes sense because they are barely teenagers & on top of that they are mostly each others first experience of friendship and especially at first the titan.s were not cohesive but JUST YOU WAIT!!!!!! (also sidenote, love how dick and donna immediately became bffs. like no lead up, go into their boy issues like they would even grown, those are my wonder twins)

also also literally just posted my analysis of bruce & the titans and you know, coming from the teenager perspective i get that dick thinks bruce doesn't trust dick/doesn't trust the titans but i just think ITS SO MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT. like they are (mostly) the first ever sidekicks and dick telling the titans his identity would absolutely lead to inferring batman's and any leaguers bruce didnt tell would hear it from their sidekicks (who theyre all majorly loyal to). idk i just felt like early years dick was much more 'i love and respect bruces decisions but ultimately i wont let them stop me' (in regards to the face reveal)

I know it'd likely be hard to implement now but I really liked the way I got to experience Warframe. (spoilers ahead, I guess)

The plot twist of Second Dream! It was such a hush hush secret and the evolution of the models felt significant too. During/after Second Dream the operators' model were more child-like. With War Within their models got updated and they looked older. And finaly with The New War we unlocked the alternate timeline in which they weren't rescued and are adults (as the Drifter)... and that felt so nicely done >>

As usual with my boy Pablo, everything he has said about decrees is on point. I'm glad he has acknowledged the progression curve on drifter with decrees is a bit nuts but still respecting how fun the power fantasy is. He's very aware of the delicate balance, and he is a good steward. I didn't know we'll likely be getting more decrees in the future, and I look forward to seeing them!!

So many of the fuckos on r/Warframe have been saying DE doesn't play or test on Steel Path, so Rebb talking about how she and Pablo did a run on Steel Path and how they recommend approaching it was VALIDATING

Rebb is very happy that Duviri is out, and will be even happier when the bugs are fixed, which the team is fully committed to doing. And then there was a round of shoutouts to the great voice actors in this update. And a joke about Rebb getting food poisoning while recording a steel path test run. Watch out for raw eggs.

not enough people are talking about shuri as black panther imo (i think due to spoilers but imo it’s been obvious since they revealed the suit in the trailer, the design makes it so clear it’s shuri they weren’t even hiding it lol). so i’ll just air out my thoughts i guess, i really like that they chose her even though it was obvious to me that one of the only one who could take up the mantle in the end was shuri.  like, even before the film came out lots of people were speculating multiple different characters (even after they released looks at her suit) but shuri choosing to step up and take on the mantle in the end was really powerful imo. also side note all the performances in the movie were great, letitia wright really did good with what was given to her esp since it must’ve been such a heavy movie to carry for all the cast, so giving my flowers where they’re due to her and the rest of the cast. showcasing shuri’s grief, eventual rage, and acceptance and all the ripples of emotions in between was pretty hard hitting for me.  i’m really interested as to where they’re gonna take shuri in the future of the mcu movies, i’m sure we’ll see her again. she was one of my faves from the first black panther movie but ever since wakanda forever she’s really solidified as one of my permanent favorites due to how it represents her. 

so yeah tldr i like shuri. shuri fans be mutuals with me i am totally cool (that’s a lie i’m probably the uncoolest but! that’s all i’ve got)

I've seen some people say they think Namor giving the bracelet to Shuri was 'dumb'...and I low-key wonder what movie they were watching.

Shuri was someone who embodied the best qualities as a potential ally to him, and subsequently Talokan. She came from a nation that had to isolate themselves for the same reasons Talokan did. She had a grief-driven fury within her that could engulf the world. She had a curiosity about and empathy for his people/nation, asking to be taken to Talokan and sharing her appreciation for it.

Then, take into account that this man is 500+ YEARS OLD. In his half-a-millennium existence, THIS is the first time he is meeting anyone, let alone someone from the surface, who has all these qualities. Shuri is someone who can be THE decisive factor in not only ensuring the protection of his people but also their transformation into a more powerful nation than they had ever been before.

And who was it before her that was a transformative figure in the development of Talokan? Namor's mother. She was the one who carried, nursed, raised the boy who would become a god to his people. Consequently, she was the one who ensured Talokan's survival and prosperity before it took shape. Her bracelet was crafted for her by the shaman as a symbol of the promise for a better life that would be fulfilled through her actions. And THAT, to me, is what Namor is implying when he gives the bracelet to Shuri.

And I think the strongest proof of this is in the final confrontation between Shuri and him. Right after she tells him that she will protect his nation and that his people will live if he yields, he sees his mother. She IS special the way his mother was special, and he knew it. Why wouldn't he give her his mother's bracelet?
