i love to praise ever after high for being one of the first doll lines to even tease a sapphic relationship on screen (i only say one of the first as roxxi and nevra from bratz were not confirmed until 2020), but the reality is ever after high was such a product of its time because even then, with an entire on screen kiss… they completely pushed aside any sort of development between darling and apple in favor of daring and it really sucks.

i LOVE daring, and i absolutely adore darabella. i love his arc in epic winter and i think it’s such perfect character development for him. what i don’t like, however, is that darling was such an important character in dragon games. like, the entire ending of dragon games was due to her character arc and her discovering her destiny, and… they barely show her on screen during epic winter. she gets maybe ten seconds of screentime in the background of some shots, and her and apple never even speak.

mattel had the best opportunity to give darling and apple some much needed discovery and closure during epic winter, especially after daring went through his own character arc and found out that he was destined to be with rosabella. i think it was in part that so many parents probably complained about the kiss (which is also why the “it was cpr” or “it was a friendship kiss” theories are so popular) so they pushed darling off screen in order to make parents happy, but it still drives me absolutely bonkers.

in general, i actually sincerely hate how mattel treated the charming children. it was obvious who their favorite was (daring) and i can’t fault them for that because i really do enjoy him and his arc, but dexter and darling were both routinely pushed aside and it drives me insane even all these years later.

I've been getting mad for gender reasons a lot recently for no specific reason but a lot of it comes down to the fact that even while interacting with other WLW I see a lot of clear revulsion towards the idea of a woman sexually desiring another woman and the assumption of sexual security in the presence of (cis) women/absence of men both of which are so contrary to my own personal experience and identity it makes it impossible to Be Around so many people

Mountain Peaks Around the Valley of the Ten Peaks (Black & White, Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view to the southwest at Morant's Curve. Based on the azimuth/direction from this location, I was able to determine that off in the distance were Ten Peaks around the Moraine Lake area. With information from peakbagger.com, I was able to determine the most visible peaks of Mount Bell, Mount Babel, and Mount Fay.

The eight robot masters of Mega Man Ultimate are my pride and joy. As evident by their intro posts, plenty of thought went into the conceptualization of each bot, and it was very fun to revisit their initial 2018 designs and sprite them while making a few design tweaks for their big tumblr debut!

However, while I was taking a good look at the sprites I had made of the octet of renegades, I noticed something... I was fairly satisfied with every sprite I had drawn, though I felt as though I could do a lot better with one in particular, both in terms of his sprite and his design as a whole...

Strafe Man, the overconfident high-flyer.

Unlike the other seven members of the Synth Legion, Strafe Man's design had hardly been altered since I first settled on a design for him back in 2018— the most he had ever really gotten was a color change here or there, and I've also found that he's the single most underrated robot master of the eight in spite of proclaiming to be the coolest.

Let's fix that, shall we?

With a flashier winged helmet, bigger wings and a much more arduous arsenal, Strafe Man has officially been done justice! My goal was to give him a more detailed and streamlined design compared to his 2018 counterpart (Which there wasn't inherently anything wrong with, he just looked plain alongside the other SLN units), and I'm certain I succeeded in achieving just that!

#Star's Art #Mega Man Ultimate #Rockman U: The Renegades Rise #Mega Man #Rockman #Strafe Man #SLN-007 #Synth Legion Numbers #Coolness #I didn't want this to be a particularly long post so I've decided to save most of the details for the tags... #... but I just H A D to show Strafe Man's new digs the moment I could! #The first thing I wanted to change was Strafe Man's color scheme. #I decided to swap out the dark blue color with a light blue color to look a bit more in-line with a usual sky themed RM #Doing so allowed me to shade the white areas of his sprite with a color other than his skin tone which looks a WHOLE lot better! #After that it was high time to fix the wings on his helmet #They were based off of an unused design for Tornado Man that was so cool that it'd be a crime to leave it unused #So I took quite some time to redraw them to look exactly how I wanted them to as well as putting my own spin on them! #I then spent some time making his torso in particular slightly more Mega Man-esque #I used the Stardroids from MMV for inspiration as I have with other SLN units and liked what I came up with! #Lastly... I decided to up the ante on Strafe Man's wing size and missile launchers #I wanted his wings to be a bit more wide and his missile launchers to shoot more than one rocket at once... #... as the latter would make sense when you take into consideration that his weapon name is 'Strafe Barrage'... #... so with some experimentation his wings were redesigned and at last I had a finalized Strafe Man design! #Now he looks LEAGUES better alongside with his cohorts!! #Oh! And one more detail... now he has a visor that covers his eyes for when he's flying at high speeds #That's been a design element since his 2018 incarnation but I finally found a way to take that concept and sprite it!

ppl ask a lot abt my traditional coloring process but its rlly not that complex u just rlly water down inks and layer thin layers until you realize you’ve been working for 9 hours straight and pass out with all ur supplies still in bed w/ u LOL

#i clean my paint water like. twice a week and i paint everyday 😔 #i use a variety of translucent mediums dependin what im going for #if i want somethin a little more pigmented. high flow acrylics + matte pouring medium. esp for neons since neon acrylic inks and watercolors #r pretty weak. flourescent paints tend to be transparent so gouche or acrylic is ur best bet bc neon watercolors are hard to come by and #basically only show up on white paper. and flourescent inks are ok. but a little gloopy usually #also golden has a rlly good color range of neons so. #i also like holbien acryla gouache neons bc the luminous red is prob my most used paint color i use it watered down in about all of my #paintings its just. that fucking beautiful #I also use concentrated watercolors bc they are hypersaturated and transparent and only semi-liftable which is a lot of fun #some ppl dont like them bc despite the name they are not watercolors or liquid watercolors. #they are first and foremost. inks. they are dye based and heavily staining so if you put them down you can lift a little bit but the stain #isnt going anywhere. which is fun bc i like playing with lifting. i also like them being dye based bc if you mix them. when you apply them #they sometimes settle color wise and there are slight blooms and inconsistancies in color which i adore #kiiinda like granulation? but not rlly #ofc for areas where i feel i need something less saturated i use tube watercolors #and acrylic inks for areas that i dont want to lift. #u gotta be careful tho bc a lot of inks r hyperpigmented #i dont like thick opaque paints i find them rlly dull and boring to work with #so everything has to be thin and layerable #bc thats where u get those nice color interactions

(and only 6 colors, 3 brown and 3 blue). i have no idea what i want to work on next. i guess i could finish my Haldane bag but i still haven't come up with a pattern i like for it. but i think i really will be moving in the next 6 weeks so i might get a little sparse for a while.

#she needs some sort of pattern that brings white into the rest of the body #on the old (not pictured) design she just had white bands across her limbs #i also want the pink n orange to be part of said pattern. to not be restricted to different material areas like it is in the photo #not making it on the white coat like the right image shows bc it reminds me too much of penguins. emperor ones i think have that #she looks so much cleaner without the fish fins.. but they made it super easy to bring the accent colors to the whole body #i also added little fins to her elbow and knee joints bc only the tail having fins felt weird but i also didn't want a fin-less tail #those r also gonna be a bit of a pain to design with since they dont have an up/down side like the tail ones do #wips #ch:naji
