𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 gifted half of the human race, Y/N was not the best judge of character.
She didn’t believe the proverbs that insisted on the eyes being the windows of the soul. And she was not convinced that a circle of friends could reveal everything about someone's personality. Y/N just liked to observe—refraining from cementing any assumptions she had gathered during first encounters and preferring to see if her opinions could withstand the sands of time.
But in times like this, she wished she had Yelena’s immaculate ability to read someone from the get-go. Because while Steve Rogers seemed kind, charming, and endearingly enigmatic, he might be more intimidating than Y/N thought. And he certainly seemed to be a lot richer and more important than she had imagined.
“I feel like I’m sticking out like a sore thumb,” Y/N thought out loud. And while Sam had assured her that she was doing just fine, it was hard to take his words to heart when she was standing in the lobby of the immaculate, high-rise Stark Tower in her seafoam green pajamas.
Sure, they were a classy pair that cost her forty bucks—and if she were a celebrity or some sort of influencer, she could possibly pass them as a stylistic choice—but she doubted that even her feigned confidence and the two bulky men on her side could make her pass for anyone but her ordinary self.
“Believe me when I tell you that the concierge has seen worse than someone in their pajamas,” Bucky mumbled while reaching for the overnight bag in Y/N’s hand. He tucked it to his side, confidently striding toward the elevators.
Y/N, on the other hand, cast a quick glance back at her car. Her poor Toyota Corolla was conspicuous in the sea of Porsches, Cadillacs, and Teslas. Even it looked dejected. She diverted her attention back to Sam when she heard him clear his throat. Maybe the eyes really are the windows of the soul, she pondered. Because while this man was a good six feet-something with a large frame and a set of hands that could strangle someone to death in an instant, his eyes were warm and earthly, grounding her to the present and making sure she didn’t lose herself to her thoughts.
He motioned for Y/N to walk before him, and she promptly followed after Bucky. Like the building itself, the elevators were sublime and grand—maybe even larger than her own bedroom. As soon as the gilded doors opened, she was greeted with a spacious interior with intricate filigree patterns that went beyond the natural. Her eyes wandered, taking in the vinyl flooring and the framing mirrors, studying the implicit accents embellishing the corner of the elevator walls and the subtle details that sometimes go unnoticed.
A serene yet evanescent sound infiltrated her senses, attributed to either Bucky or Sam pressing the button to Steve’s apartment. It was on the 40th floor, the last floor displayed on the panel. With great anticipation, Y/N stood between both boys, eagerly waiting for the elevator doors to glide open. And when they did, she expected to walk out into a mesmerizing hallway that mirrored the luxury and opulence of the multi-billion dollar building.
To her surprise, she was met with a door with an imperturbable aura—she doubted that even a grenade could make a dent in it. What was even more perplexing was the lack of a handle or a lock that left her wondering, how the hell does one open a door like this? Bucky seemed privy to the door’s secret, extending his hand toward the digital pad adjacent to the door. With a single thumb swipe, he unsealed the door, ushering everyone inside.
“Welcome home, Miss Y/L/N,” Sam announced, but it was hard to hear him when Y/N’s attention was drawn entirely to the apartment—scratch that. The penthouse—Bucky and Sam led her into.
While Stark Tower was a vision of opulence with its crystal chandelier and gilded hallways, Steve’s abode was a vision. A luminous dream brought to life by the color palette the designer had chosen.
Y/N was drawn into a dance of gradient blues that swayed with grace, an intricate choreography of light and dark that played across every surface. Star Command Blue blended perfectly with the white walls and silver furniture, which reflected a bridge between antiquity and modernity.
Each canvas on the wall seemed to possess a voice of its own, tugging at her curiosity and unveiling a constellation of majesty and allure. And while the tower in which the penthouse was nestled was prolific and intimidating, Steve’s house radiated the warmth of a home.
“This is,” Y/N started, too lost in this world of perfection to notice that Bucky had already settled her bag somewhere and was walking leisurely into the living room. “Beautiful.”
“I’m glad you think that.”
When this familiar yet unsuspected voice filtered through the air, Y/N whipped her head. Through the arch that separated the living room from the kitchen, she caught sight of someone fiddling with two mugs.
“Steve?”
“Evening, Y/N,” Steve smiled. “I’m glad you made it here safely.”
“What are you doing here? Sam said you live upstate.”
Steve sent Y/N a small smile, gesturing to one of the bar stools beneath the kitchen counter. She pulled it back and sat on it, watching as Steve reached for a jar of hot chocolate. “Marshmallows or whipped cream?” he asked so casually as if he was having a friend over, and they were getting ready to watch a movie. When he received no answer, he spoke again, “I’m not ignoring your question, doll. So, don’t ignore mine.”
Yes, there was a command in his tone. One that was hard to miss. But the playfulness in his eyes and his casual demeanor made Y/N disregard it and answer. “Both. If it’s not too much trouble.”
Steve nodded, sending a playful salute. The corner of Y/N’s lips curled, placidity overcoming her being. Her forearms rested on the marble surface, eyes focused on Steve’s effortless movements.
Though dressed in pajamas of his own, cobalt blue to be precise, with the most delicate white stripes, his motion was no less graceful. He poured a couple of spoons of hot chocolate into a metal pot and placed it on the stove, giving Y/N an unobstructed view of his broad shoulders and handsome frame.
“I thought you didn’t use this apartment,” Y/N remarked.
“That’s the second question. You haven’t even heard the answer to the first,” Steve quipped.
“It’s a sentence. Laced with the words you’ve previously used.”
“No. It’s a sentence laced with an underlying question,” Steve pointed out. He raised his index finger at Y/N, stopping her next words from tumbling out of her mouth. “Hold that thought,” he said. “Bucky. Sam. Where are the marshmallows?”
“You mean Natasha’s marshmallows?” Sam walked into the room. He held Steve’s gaze as he plucked out a kiwi from the fruit ball, unaware of the curiosity that crossed over Y/N’s features.
Steve hummed. Both he and Sam turned to Bucky, who stood by the wall with his hands in his pockets. “No.”
“Don’t waste time, Bucky,” Steve huffed. “Y/N wants marshmallows with her hot chocolate.”
“Alright, then. Sam, go buy some marshmallows.”
Bucky's casual tone made it seem like he was unaware that it was past midnight and there were no 24/7 stores nearby, which is probably why Sam scoffed at his retort. “I don’t take orders from you, Buckaroo. But you take orders from him,” he stated matter-of-factly, pointing at Steve. “Give up Red’s marshmallows. Gentlemen don’t keep pretty dames like Miss Y/L/N waiting.”
“Watch it,” came Steve’s sharp remark before Y/N could tell them that she didn’t mind having her hot chocolate without any marshmallows. And although Steve’s authoritative voice left a trail of goosebumps on Y/N’s skin, it did nothing to deter Sam.
“What? I’m not being inappropriate. It’s not like I call her doll or something.”
Steve leveled Sam with a glare, but this time, Y/N was the least bit fazed. If anything, she mirrored Bucky’s amused expression, watching the two men playfully bicker.
“Are you trying to tell me something, Sam?” Steve’s eyebrow arched.
Sam smirked, “You’re smart, Rogers. You can figure it out.”
Steve grumbled in response. Thankfully, the water started to boil, seeking the man’s attention.
Y/N glanced at Sam, giving him a small smile. “You can call me by my first name, you know?” He lit up brighter than a Christmas tree, and from the way he straightened up and turned to his boss, Y/N knew he was gearing up to fire another playful remark.
“Heard that, Stevie? Y/N’s okay with using her first name.”
“Will you shut up, Sam?” Steve pointed out over the dulcet sound of Y/N’s laugh. “As for you, Bucky. Get me those damned marshmallows before I reassign Nat to Singapore.”
That seemed to kick Bucky into action. He stepped away from the wall and strode into the center of the kitchen. There was no indication as to where he was heading to get those marshmallows, and something seemed to poke his brain because he swiftly turned around. “Close your eyes.”
Sam and Steve’s voices overlapped, with the former arguing that they weren’t five and the latter insisting he wanted to sip his chocolate guilt-free without having to worry about pelting Bucky with the decorative pillows of his living room.
Bucky didn’t have any of it. “If Nat finds out I showed you her secret stash, she’ll turn me into those feathery pillows of yours.”
“James, seriously!”
Y/N turned to Steve with knitted brows. “James?”
“That’s question three, doll,” Steve said.
“It’s Y/N, Steve. Not doll,” Sam teased. “Should we teach you how to spell again?”
“Bucky, get me those fucking—”
“Language.”
“Goddamn it, Wilson,” Steve grumbled. Y/N was holding a hand over her mouth to stifle her laughter. For three intimidating men, they sure acted like children. “Bucky, get me those damned marshmallows before I turn Sam into one and roast him.”
Needless to say, Bucky was like a tree. Unmoving, unyielding, rooted in place. Steve groaned again, turning off the stove. “This is stupid,” he voiced out. And yet, he closed his eyes afterward. Sam did the same.
Amused, Y/N closed her eyes when Bucky’s voice echoed, “It’s okay, Y/N. You don’t have to.”
“That’s favoritism,” Sam protested at the same time Steve remarked, “You’re a punk.”
“Sorry, lads. But I don’t trust either of you with this.”
When Bucky was sure both men were not peeking, which was utterly surprising, if Y/N might say. He set a course toward one of the lower kitchen cabinets.
Surprisingly, despite his bulky frame and substantial muscle mass, he moved lightly on his feet—his shoes scarcely making a sound, even after taking three steps. His fingers eased the cabinet open, once again without a single noise.
It was filled with bowls and other objects like blenders and hand mixers, and Y/N was almost certain Bucky was going to magically pull the marshmallow bag out of one of them until he glanced at her with a wicked glint in his eyes and gently pressed the top of the cabinet.
It opened, revealing a hidden compartment that made Y/N edge closer in her seat. Once Bucky got the marshmallow bag, he reached for a dessert bowl and placed a couple of them in it.
Within a few seconds, he stashed the bag, closed the compartment and cabinet, and shoved the bowl in Steve’s hands. “You owe me.”
“Get out of here,” Steve grumbled. Bucky obeyed, not before waving at Y/N. Sam, on the other hand, was still in his seat. “You too.”
“What? Am I not getting any hot chocolate? I drove her here.”
“I pay you. Quite well, might I add.”
With a hand on his heart and a sorrowful expression etched on his face, Sam expressed, “Money doesn't buy happiness. Hot chocolate on the—”
Steve pelted him with marshmallows, mumbling something about how late it was to be dealing with his shenanigans. Sam had managed to catch a white marshmallow in his hands and a blue one in his mouth. He dashed back into the living room, calling out for Bucky.
“I’m sorry about them. They can be quite bothersome,” Steve said. He poured the hot chocolate into two mugs, adding the whipped cream and marshmallows to Y/N’s.
“I think you’ve used the wrong word,” Y/N retaliated. The two had quenched her uneasiness, making her feel as if she had known the trio for a long time.
“Careful, doll. Or I might start thinking you like them more than you like me.”
“I never said I liked you.”
“Damn.” Steve feigned hurt, glancing down at the hot drinks. “Kinda makes me wish I was having whiskey instead. I thought we were closer than that, Y/N.”
A hearty laugh escaped her lips, making all her earlier tension and queasiness dissipate. Gladly, Y/N accepted the drink. Her fingers were careful not to brush against Steve’s, knowing she didn’t want to contradict her earlier statement so easily.
“Thank you.”
“You're welcome.” Steve sat across from her on the marble countertop. He sipped his plain and mundane hot chocolate, watching her indulge in the whipped cream. “I hope you’re feeling more comfortable now.”
The spoonful of whipped cream paused just before reaching her lips. Y/N nodded, a sheepish smile forming as she parted her lips to take a bite. “I really am sorry for bothering you.”
“You’re not a bother, doll. I’m more than happy to accommodate you for as long as you need.”
“Why, though? It’s not like you’re obligated to.”
Steve surprisingly nicked one of the marshmallows in Y/N’s drink and dipped it in his own. Playfully, he caught her eyes and plucked the treat in his lips, licking them clean afterward. She wondered if this was her answer.
“It’s… complicated. In a sense that it’s hard to articulate it without needing to filter my thoughts.”
“Then, don’t filter them,” Y/N stated. “Undisguise your thoughts.”
Steve’s eyes twinkled with mirth. He chuckled, letting his blue eyes fall to the counter. As his eyes rose again, the subtle hints of green within his blue irises became unmistakably apparent. Somehow, the clash of colors was too endearing for Y/N to ignore.
"My father passed away while serving in the military, leaving my mother and me on our own. Being a single parent in Brooklyn, especially a single mother, was far from easy. Despite the challenges, I always admired my mother's strength. I looked up to women like her and people who faced adversity head-on. Life kept throwing obstacles our way, but she never gave up the fight.
“I suppose what I'm getting at is that I feel a deep calling to help those in need, especially those who've been marginalized. Some, like Sam, joke about it as a 'savior complex.' Others tease me for trying to be 'Captain Righteous.' Call it what you will. For me, it's about having a strong sense of morality and wanting to aid those who've been treated unfairly by the world, however way I can.”
Steve’s answer caused Y/N to grapple with her own thoughts. How ironic, she had asked him to undisguise his when hers were meandering in her head, elusive and unbridled. After a moment of prolonged silence, Y/N tapped her nails against the mug, looking at Steve from beneath her lashes.
“So, I gather it wasn’t so that you can sleep with me? Or is this a speech you give to all the girls you invite over after their electricity goes haywire?”
She anxiously chewed on her lower lip, trying to gauge Steve’s reaction. He narrowed his eyes, and Y/N was scared that she messed up, but the hearty laugh that reverberated through the kitchen told her otherwise.
“I’m sorry, doll. But you made it pretty clear that you don’t like me.”
“Maybe not,” Y/N chortled. “But, I do admire your kindness. That’s twice you’ve helped me now without asking for anything in return. And you’ve made me feel safe on both occasions. So, thank you.”
“You’re very welcome, Y/N,” Steve smiled appreciatively.
After a minute of silence, Y/N turned back to Steve, catching his attention. “You never answered my question.”
“Which one?”
“All of them.”
“All three?” Steve teased, raising an eyebrow.
Y/N rolled her eyes. “They were two, but I’ll bite since it’s disrespectful of the guest to contradict the host.”
Steve snorted, shaking his head. “What was the first one?”
“What are you doing here if you live upstate?”
“I do live upstate, but I had this conference call tonight that needed my team to be there, so I ended up at the office. It's pretty close to Stark Tower.”
“A meeting at midnight?” Y/N asked skeptically.
“Ten in the evening,” Steve corrected. “With Singapore. It ran for two hours, and you calling me actually put an end to it. So, thank you for that.”
You’re welcome, I guess? Y/N thought. But instead, what came out of her mouth was, “I thought you didn’t use this apartment, but Natasha has a hidden marshmallow stash?”
"She's not just good at hiding marshmallows. She's got this stealthy talent for hiding whatever we might need. The apartment serves its purpose during times like this—late meetings or emergencies. We don't use it a lot, maybe once or twice a month. Natasha's always on me to keep it stocked, but I usually ignore her advice and pay the price when she refuses to share her stash."
“Fair enough. And why did you call Bucky ‘James’?”
“It’s his first name. Any more questions, doll?”
“Just one,” Y/N said. “Who’s Natasha?”
“My wife,” Steve replied without missing a beat. Y/N’s eyes widened dramatically, the color in them dissolving as her pupils dilated. She shifted in her seat, torn between leaving and staying. Steve’s unadulterated laughter fixed her in her place. “I didn’t peg you for someone who’s easily gullible. Natasha’s my assistant. The one you spoke to over the phone.”
“You freaking asshole!”Y/N chastised. Her voice was barely audible, overwhelmed by Steve’s boisterous laugh. “It was bad enough I actually thought that woman was your wife when she answered the phone. Do you know how unnerving it was thinking I was going to be yelled at by a woman who’d think of me as a mistress?”
Steve reclined, and if anything, laughed even heartier than before. His posture arched, revealing his neck and providing an unobstructed view of the prominent veins coursing across his skin.
“It would be anticlimactic if, after that earnest speech, I would turn out to be a liar.”
Y/N shook her head. “You know? We’re here in your apartment, joking and sipping cold chocolate, and I realized we don’t know much about each other.”
“Well then, Y/N. Let’s change that,” Steve smirked, placing both his forearms on the table.
Y/N gnawed at the inside of her cheeks, looking down to hide her flushed face. Steve was now inches away from her face, not enough for their noses to touch, but enough for her to see the green sparkles in his eyes and catch the hint of amber in his perfume.
“What’s your favorite color?” she voiced out.
Steve did a double take as if he was shot in the chest. “Favorite color?” He sounded dejected. “Doll, that is a very anticlimactic question. I expected more from you.”
“Hey! I think it’s important to have the answer to that question in one’s arsenal.”
“Don’t tell me you’re one of those lunatics that think they can have you all figured out from your favorite color, birthday, and shit.”
“No,” Y/N chuckled. “It’s just… I think we spend years getting to know people, and yet, we can’t recall the smallest details about them. We’re just left with a general impression. But I happen to care about the details. Without them, everything would be lacking, and there would only be incomplete pictures.”
It felt somewhat ridiculous to voice this aloud, especially in front of Steve. But even though Y/N braced herself for a bemused look or a sarcastic grin, she was taken aback to see Steve lost in contemplation, as if he were mulling over her words.
Tapping his fingers rhythmically on the countertop, he finally confessed, "Honestly, I've never given it much thought."
“Never?”
“No. Guys don’t typically get asked what their favorite color is.”
“Well, I’m asking you now.” Y/N mirrored his prior actions, leaning across the countertop. She grinned, looking expectantly at the man before her. “What’s your favorite color?”
His response wasn't immediate. Instead, he took a moment, his gaze wandering as he considered. "It's blue."
Y/N pushed herself away from him, her face contorting into a grimace. “Really?”
“What?” Steve shifted in his seat. “Is it that bad?”
“No. It’s anticlimactic, though.”
This time, Steve almost fell out of his chair from the force of his own laughter. “You are so mean, doll. So mean! What’s your favorite color? Slytherin green?”
"No!" Y/N shook her head. Even with the clock ticking closer to one in the morning, the genuine warmth in Steve's laughter radiated like the midday sun. "I don't really have a favorite color."
"Now, that’s anticlimactic."
"No, it's me embracing life's different shades instead of limiting myself to just one."
“So, if someone were to psychoanalyze you based on your favorite color—or lack thereof—would they diagnose you as a non-monogamous person, who prefers to indulge in all the shades of people life has to offer?
“Steve!”
“Y/N.”
“Now, who’s the mean one?” Y/N pouted playfully. Steve responded with a wide smile as he took charge, placing the empty cups in the dishwasher and exchanging them for water. "Thanks."
“You’re welcome. Now, it’s my turn to ask.” Steve paused, waiting for Y/N to nod. "Tell me, what's your profession?" Steve's question hung in the air.
Y/N's lips curved into a mischievous smirk as she lightly tapped her index finger against the exquisite crystal water cup. "Go on, take a guess."
With a nonchalant smile, Steve replied, "Well, I've narrowed it down to the top three options."
"Top three?" Y/N raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"You strike me as someone effortlessly elegant and beautiful. My best bets are fashion designer, model, or a sugar baby," he replied, his tone light.
"Steve, seriously?" Y/N exclaimed, her face hidden behind her hands as she fought to contain her bubbling laughter. Despite her efforts, Steve's infectious mirth resonated through the kitchen, tinting his cheeks a vibrant shade of red. "I'm not a sugar baby!"
“Damn, baby. I could’ve used some sugar,” Steve teased. Y/N was torn between the urge to nudge him playfully and the temptation to burst into laughter right in his face.
“I’m an interior designer,” Y/N answered earnestly.
Steve’s blue-green eyes raked over her soft features, assessing her. His penetrative gaze made her squirm, though it was more welcoming than uncomfortable. “I think it suits you. Where do you work?”
“Potts Designs.”
“The most elite design studio in North America. So, you’re beautiful, graceful, and intelligent.”
“Stop.” A blush crept over Y/N’s cheeks, tinting them pink. Her lashes fluttered rapidly as if trying to hasten time before her eyes returned to meet Steve’s gaze at eye level. “What about you? What do you do for work?”
The cheeky bastard wiggled his brows and adjusted his position. From that act alone, Y/N knew he was going to tease her before giving an answer.
“Guess.”
“Well.” She had leisurely stressed on the “l”, giving away that she had already suspected such an answer and was immensely entertaining it. “You strike me as someone annoyingly determined and sophisticated. My best bets are financial officer, real estate agent, or a member of the Illuminati," she lightheartedly responded.
“Illuminati,” Steve barked, vehemently shaking his head. “I’m afraid that they’ve rejected my application a long time ago. I’m just not cool enough for them.”
“Well, it’s their loss,” Y/N joked. “What is it that you do then?”
“I’m a businessman,” he answered. “I own a threat security company and a couple of other firms. I’m also an angel investor.”
“Damn, angel.” Y/N fluttered her lashes, resting her hands near Steve’s, enough to touch the rings on his fingers. “Does that mean you’ll invest your time in me?”
Steve almost choked on air, clutching his stomach as tears formed on the edge of his lashes. He wiped them away with his fingers. "Tell you what, help me plead my case to the Illuminati, and I'll gladly take you as my sugar baby."
“Lucky for you, angel face, women love a man with power. You got yourself a deal.”
She extended her hand, shaking Steve’s. They only looked serious for a minute before their expressions faltered, and they laughed as if they had known each other for years.

summary: “Honestly, ma’am, I-” “January 1967,” she cuts in, earning a wide-eyed stare from the stranger at her side. She meets him halfway, smiling at his look of surprise. “Yeah, I was there. You’re not the first person t’ask. Just the first one that wanted t’talk, rather than shut me up.” warnings: missing persons? smoking, mentions of blackmail kinda, gov conspiracy, somethin' fishy is goin' on here wc: 2,177
If lying was so wrong, why did it come so easily? An excuse made up, barely thought out before it flew off of his tongue. It’s believable, and no one takes a moment to question it. What would the Chief of Police, Jim Hopper, have to hide anyway? A man who served his community with a firm hand and brutal words of punishment or encouragement as young rebels found themselves in his office for the third time that week. If lying was a sin, he’d be drowning in misery as the mortal line is finally severed. “It’s better this way,” he tells himself. Take the hit and act as a shield to spare others from the painful truth. A truth not everyone is ready for. So the pile of secrets grows tall like a tower, swaying in the breeze and threatening to collapse at any moment. He knows it’ll bury him someday, and it’s worth it if it means protecting fragile hearts. It’s difficult to ignore as he waits in his car, feeling the shadow loom like a heavy cloud on him while the neighborhood shines bright. It was almost like a beacon to guide him here—just outside of Hawkins, where no one knew his name. He was just another man on a morning drive. Receiving pleasant waves from strangers as they walk their dog past him. No one asks, and no one seems to care—they are too engulfed in their own stories, actively being written out. Hopper catches himself watching every individual pass through his rearview, checking for suspicious behavior or if they cast a second look. They never do, and it’s freeing. He allows his mind to settle, redirecting focus to the quiet house just down the street. A single-story home painted in pristine white with accents of gray and wooden beams to support the gable. It’s a stark contrast to the photograph in his hands—clearly redone in the years since the news article had been printed. No longer abandoned, but instead thriving with life.
A station wagon is soon slowing to a crawl before the house, climbing the small hill in the driveway. The doors are quick to open, and smiles are seen on happy faces as they linger in an unheard joke. The young couple reach into the backseats to pluck twins from their car seats, both seeming to have just woken from a long nap. Together, they seek comfort in their home and bask in the warmth of a growing family. It’s what he expects, yet it's still gut-wrenching. In the thin silver lining of hope, he had envisioned an older pair wandering in their lonesome, forever looking for their lost girl. But it was clear they were long gone, and he was back to the start. With a heavy sigh and a photograph in hand, he slips from the car and studies nearby houses. Some are more modern, while others remain stuck in the past. It was his best bet. Even if he left with nothing, the path would have narrowed by some. He starts with the house just next to the family, a simple introduction, and a quick question to follow. “I hate t’be a bother,” he would say with a nervous chuckle. “But I-I’m uh, working on a case. I just wanted t’see if you knew anything about the house next door and its previous owners?” A look of suspicion lights up in their eyes before they give only disappointing answers, shutting the door between them. He goes door to door, finding no clues, and it’s wearing him thin. He’s wasting time, knowing the longer he’s gone, the more worried his coworkers will become.
A final attempt is made as he stands on the welcome mat of a cozy home. The door was painted a dull blue to welcome you in closer, with flowers and other foliage all well kept and glowing. Various clicks of undone locks are heard one after another, piquing his interest with a raised brow. The door is barely cracked, with brown eyes peering through, studying the stranger in silence before widening the entrance. “Can I help you?” It’s an older woman—somewhere in her sixties and hardly dressed for the day. Her pajamas peeked through a thick and hastily tied robe, her lips still wet from coffee. “I’m sorry t’disturb you, ma’am. I just have a question about—" He takes a pause, suddenly finding himself uneasy under her stern stare. “Your home.” “My home?” she questions, brows pulled tight together. “Y-yeah, uh, how long have you lived here?” Her head tilts, and he can feel the uneasiness radiating from the woman—the lack of trust is painfully obvious. Hopper digs for his badge and offers it out to her in haste, hoping to keep her from running away. “I’m workin’ a case,” he defends. The unnamed woman slumps against the threshold, arms now crossed, as she finally gives in. “Since 1958,” A spark of warmth ignites in his chest, and he feels almost sickened by the race of his heart. “D’you know anything about a missing family? It would have been after you moved in. Just, uh, just down there.” Brown eyes follow after his pointed finger, and he doesn’t miss the way her arms tighten. Shoulders are now scrunched together, and lips are held in a thin line. “Nope.” It was a popular answer. No one seemed to know or care, despite singing their praises in reports. Well thought of and vanishing without any warning. Without hesitation, the Polaroid waits out in the open between two fingers, and she observes in silence. “Nothin’ comin’ t’mind?”
This time, there’s no response provided. Her stare lingers on their faces, and even after it’s been tucked away, she remains in their grip. The officer's posture sags with defeat, his heart slowing to a steady rhythm as the fire sizzles out into nothing. “Thank you for your time, ma’am,” he states with a nod of his head, already tracing over his steps to stand in the sunlight once again. By the time he’s halfway down the curved path, his hand wiping across frustrated features, she calls out. She stands where he was once, practically squirming in her skin with lips parting to speak yet unable to find the right words. “Y’look, uh, y’look like you could use a cup of coffee. Big mornin’ for you. Working a missing persons case, and all.” A heavy sigh meets his lips as he stands with hands purchased on tilted hips, pushing through the heartbreak to appear confident and stable. “I’m fine, thank you. I should really-” “I can get you a fresh cup. You could sit and relax for a few minutes.” “Ma’am, I really-” “I was just about t’do some gardening,” she interrupts with a step forward. “You could sit in the back with me.” The man remains frozen. Words have failed him, and the aggravation was building to a powerful force against someone who didn’t deserve it. She was just a lonely woman looking for someone to talk to. He’s seen it all before—until the atmosphere takes a sudden shift. “Really, officer. I insist.” Dark eyes flicker towards the siding of her home, where a tall, white fence awaits, guarding her plants. It’s suspicious—enough to shut him up—and he nodded in acceptance at her offer. She seems satisfied, nearly relieved, as she instructs him to wait at the gate before slipping into the shadows of her home.
The wait is painful yet short-lasting. Picturing the woman frantically moving through her home just to meet him on the other side, chest heavy from a hidden burden she so clearly wanted to be free of. Whatever it was, he was willing to listen. She seems breathless at the gate, offering out a mug of fresh coffee like she promised before letting him slip inside. In the distance, he can hear her muttering, “The neighbors will love this.” He says nothing just yet, watching as she flits around her yard, continuing to mumble nonsense to herself. “Everything o-?” The man is cut short as she holds a single finger to tightly sealed lips, waiting impatiently for him to take the hint, and he does so with concern in his stare. She shuffles off towards a few stacked basins, purposeful details cut away, allowing running water to spill freely on an endless loop. That, paired with the high-pitched ting from dancing windchimes, is enough to settle her rattled nerves, and she sighs out, “There we are.” Her robe has come undone in the haste, seeming less put together as she takes a seat just near a small table. An ashtray rests at the center, just next to a pack of cigarettes. Her fingers are quick to snatch it up and stick one just between her lips. “You going t’just stand there, or what?” Her eyes dart towards the empty seat just on the other side, and he caves with reluctance. This change in her had struck his interest. The coffee remains untouched, hands falling to rest between parted knees while he drinks in the dying garden. There’s beauty, still. But winter weather comes fast, claiming vibrance and turning all too dull green. “Honestly, ma’am, I-” “January 1967,” she cuts in, earning a wide-eyed stare from the stranger at her side. She meets him halfway, smiling at his look of surprise. “Yeah, I was there. You’re not the first person t’ask. Just the first one that wanted t’talk, rather than shut me up.” She takes a long drag from her cigarette, eyes cast out at nothing in particular. “So, you lied?” “T’cover my ass, yeah. You would too if all you had was on the line.” The ash is flicked away, her stature seeming more relaxed than it had been only moments ago—finding some trust in the man from out of town.
“You were threatened?” he asks, watching as her lips form a faint smile. “Threatened, paid—anything t’keep my mouth shut.” It’s all too familiar—now understanding why they were outdoors, suffering mother nature's wrath instead of warm in the comfort of her home. The woman’s sanctuary may have been under surveillance the same way his had been or still is. “What can you tell me?” A look of disbelief falls on him, unimpressed by his bravery as he marches out into the unknown. “Why are you working a case from the sixties? That’s over and done with.” Chilled hands rub together as a strong gust sweeps through, goosebumps quickly trailing along his skin. “Personal interest,” he offered. He can’t tell if she buys it, but it captures her interest, and the once-dusty book from the past begins to unfold. “Not much I can tell you. No one knows what  happened."“But you knew of them, right? Who they were?” “Everyone did,” she answers with a short laugh. You could almost see her mind flipping through the pages, reliving an old life. “Got along well with everyone. Made enough of an impression for people t’worry.” She’s taken notice of his mug; coffee is still at the brim. The woman doesn’t hesitate before stealing it away, letting it drown out the taste of tobacco on her tongue. “Pretty private, though. Always the guests and never the hosts. I assumed it was related t’their…’disappearance.’” She ends with quotes. “You don’t think they ran off?” “Oh,” her answer is strained, holding the smoke hostage in her lungs before it spills out in a flood. “I think someone made them run. Random cars showing up, parked right outside their house. Men in suits at their front door every other night,” she scoffs, finally stamping out the lit end in the glass tray. “Real spooky shit.”
Together, they sit in silence. Her mind retells every encounter crystal clear, like it had only been yesterday. Hopper could only conjure up possibilities, attempting to recreate the scenes of a man storming across the yard to scream at unwelcome visitors. “They were new parents. Just barely adjusting t’life before they went missing. Poor thing was only a month old. I hate t’even think about what could have happened.” The puzzle is becoming more complete with every confession she gives, yet it’s still hard to make out. Like it’s been pieced together in the dark, squinting to find the fine lines of a story. “What was the kid's name?” The woman doesn’t answer right away, lips pursed in thought, before hushed words dance through the November air. So soft, it gives chills worse than the cold winds to kiss his cheeks.
“Nature’s first green is gold. Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower, but only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, so dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.” The poetry grips at her heart more than she anticipated, her eyes now sorrowful as she hears an old friend's voice recite lovely words from a book. “It was Lynn’s favorite Robert Frost poem. Said she would name her kid after it, whatever that means.”

Aesthetics Ref - T Bros
Nickname: Spectr (T!Sans)
Height: 4” taller than you (OR 5’3”)
Eye-lights: Ghost white (#F8F8FF), magic otherwise manifest as white with rainbow flecks
Magic Specialty: All
Scars/distinguishing marks: Opalescent white plating over a chrome endoskeleton
Preferred Style: Cyberpunk, the more covered up the better. Prefers to be as shrouded and hidden as possible, with comfort and utility as high priorities but not opposed to a bit of flair as long as its subtle. Reflective strips and light-up accessories help camouflage him in plain sight and make it less likely people will ask about glowing eyes or glints of metal if they think he’s a cosplayer or just really into the aesthetic. …which he kind of is, but that’s beside the point. Favors black and dark grays and blues, with silver and gunmetal accents when possible.
Outerwear: Hooded jackets or hoodies with cowls and high collars that come up to obscure some of the face. He wants to strike the best balance possible between shrouding him completely and not flaring or hanging too far from his body, to be obscured but not draw attention to himself, whether by catching on something or swishing too dramatically, so quiet and hardy materials are also preferred.
Top: Long-sleeved shirts, cotton and waffle fabric, goes for light and loose and breathable. Little to no design or prints among his shirts except for a rare company logo, or a really cool cyberpunk design that he just couldn’t pass up. Favors crew, cowl, or turtlenecks to v or square necks.
Bottom: Favoring utility, tactical cargo pants and joggers, comfortable and easy to move in with lots of storage space. Preferred fit is baggy down to the knee and more narrow around the shin and ankle, to be fit into boots.
Footwear: Chunky combat boots, durability over style and ankle height or just slightly higher. Laces tend to get loose but never fully untied
Trademark accessory/accessories: Toss up between his soft, sleek wool gloves and the dark face mask he wears over his mouth and nasal ridge. Either rarely comes off.
-
Nickname: PapAIrus (T!Papyrus)
Height: 1’4” taller than you (OR 6’3”), but variable if not fully manifested
Eye-lights: None but overall appearance when manifesting as hard-light is Alice blue (#F0F8FF)
Magic Specialty: None
Scars/distinguishing marks: Usually manifests only as skull and hands, capable of filling in the blanks with limbs and torso but tends not to
Preferred Style: Cyber dystopian, like a digital High Elf living in a desert oasis after an apocalypse destroyed the rest of the world. He loves things swishy and long and impractical, and especially delights in making coattails and sleeves and scarves defy gravity and act independently, simply for the fact that he can. Prefers stark, impossibly pristine white and silver/chrome, but can change his hues on a dime to suit an occasion or a mood.
Outerwear: Long coats, for maximum sweep and flair, sleeveless mostly because it’s less to materialize and dematerialize if he decides not to have arms. Occasionally hooded (if he feels like teasing his brother) but more often with high collars or no collar at all
Top: Crop-tops and halter tops, also almost exclusively sleeveless but sometimes long-sleeved with cut-out shoulders or separated sleeves if he feels like having humeri and forearms to show off and showcase. Also enjoys the occasional bodysuit a la Cortana or other similar futuristic characters of her ilk, to tongue-in-cheek play up to the legacy
Bottom: Bodysuits fill in most of this niche, but otherwise he mostly materializes simple, sleek and cleanly fitting pants because he doesn’t think about it much. Who needs legs when you have a handsome skull and big dexterous hands like his?
Footwear: Boots, generally heeled, favors a bit of a go-go style but certainly not shy of going knee-high, with an impractical amount of buckles, combat style, or even just a simple fancy dress shoe.
Trademark accessory/accessories: A digital approximation of his favorite scarf and gloves from when he was alive but a silvery blue instead of scarlet red—an trade-off, but in the grand scheme of things, this scarf blows majestically whenever he wants it to, wind or no, and these gloves fit his fingers like…well. Does he even have to say it?

2023 reading list: DIE (2018)
I made all of this... for you.
(ID under the cut.)
ID: Six animated gifs showing the characters of the comic Die by Kieren Gillen and Stephanie Hans. The art style is painterly and impressionistic, and the coloring is stark with a few bright accents.
1: A background of a bear engulfed in purple and pink flames. The world is black and white near the edges. The words "the Godbinder" are written in fancy script across the top, and a pentagon pulled from a D12 sits in the center. In the pentagon, six images of Isabelle rotate through: First, adult Isabelle in the real world, and then pink and blue-tinged portraits of her from within the world of Die.
2: A background of Ash the Dictator accepting a crown. The world is black and white except for her, in a bright red dress. The words "the Dictator" are in white across the top, and just beneath is a triangle like a D4. Six images rotate through inside the triangle: Dominic Ash, painted in blues and greys, and then six gifs of Ash the Dictator as she progresses from her black dress and bare face to red dress and crown, and finally her muzzle.
3: A background of a man standing silhouetted against the nighttime sky on top of a large bloody carcass. The carcass is in dim reds, and the rest of the world is black and white. Across the top are the words "the Fool" in an all-caps scribbled font. A square pulled from a D6 sits in the center of the image. Within the square, six images of Chuck rotate. The first is him in the real world, and the remaining five are within the world of Die. The only difference is a D6 he wears on an earring within Die and blood on his face.
4: A background of a medieval city exploding in a burst of blue lightning. The world outside the explosion is black and white. Across the top of the gif are the words "the Grief Knight" in an old-fashioned font. A triangle pulled from a D8 sits in the center and shows six portraits of Matt. The first is a young Matt prior to the events of the comic. The remaining five show him, tinted in oranges and blues and wearing his Grief Knight armor, within the world of Die.
5: A background of a woman and a dog silhouetted against a barren wasteland. They're standing in a halo of orange and pink light, but the landscape is gray. The words "the Neo" are written across the top in a futuristic font. A four-sided shape pulled from the sides of a D10 sits in the center. The inside rotates between six portraits of Angela Ash. The first is her in the normal world, looking up from a bar. The remaining five show her within the world of Die, wearing her red hood and occasionally her face shield.
6: A deserted landscape with a ruined city. Most of the background is in black and white, but rays of sunlight cast some parts in reds and yellows. Across the top, in a futuristic and chunky font, are the words "the Grandmaster." A triangle pulled from a D20 sits in the center of the image. The inside rotates through six images of Solomon: the first is him outside the game as a teenager; then his teenaged persona within the game, surrounded by pink fire; then his Grandmaster persona, with two D20s glowing in place of his eyes; then his Fallen persona, with visible musculature, sharp teeth, no eyes and a lack of skin; then his returned Grandmaster persona, this time in a white cape that hides half his face; and finally, his returned form in the outside world, an older man with circular sunglasses.

Mistakes of the Past ((Ex) Thor x Oc)
“She’s…here?” Steve asked, getting out of Tony’s car.
He nodded. “She bought this land four years ago.”
They walked along a gravel path until they reached a metal gate, it was long worn and just barely holding on.
“Let me just-” Tony started, getting ready to blast the lock.
Steve cut him off by tearing through the chains and throwing it out of the way. “Come on.”
Tony blinked at him before jogging to catch up.
“You’re sure this is the right place?” Steve asked. “Seems pretty…empty.”
As they walked over the hill a green and lush field came into view. The two stopped and gasped at the pristine white house that resided at the end of the plain.
“I’m pretty confident.”
They made it to the smooth cement driveway, an ATV and side-by-side parked next to a side door, on the grass was a green truck with a few bumper stickers.
“Soooooo,” Tony trailed off, staring at the dark oak door. “How are we doing this?”
“Just ring the doorbell?” Steve said like it was obvious.
Tony rolled his eyes. “Because I’m sure she gets tons of visitors out here, and I’m sure she won’t be overjoyed to see us. Have you ever been cursed by her? I have, I could only talk in rhymes for a week.”
“Well-”
They’re heads bolted up at the dog barking, a fully grown German Shepherd whipped around the corner and began to howl and bark at the two men.
“MILA SHUT UP!” A voice roared from inside the house.
The dog didn’t stop, instead getting closer. Footsteps from behind the door. “Mila is swear if there’s another squirrel I’m going to fiaya ra.”
Her voice was as accented as it was back then, Steve and Tony both looked at the door while watching the angry dog. The dog was quickly forgotten as the door whipped open and an angry pale face came out.
“Mila wha-”
Adele froze in her place staring at the two men. “Oh,” She dropped the door handle and stood straight. “Hi.”
She wore casual clothing far unlike her old attire, instead it was replaced by a dark blue hoodie with faded words of Stark Industries in bold letters along with a pair of light gray shorts.
Mila continued to yap in the background, Adele looked at her sharply and snapped her hand. “Mila, get in here.”
The dog dropped her head and lumbered inside.
After she stepped back and opened the door. “It’s hot as fuck outside, come in.”
The main room was wide open with shining oak lining the walls, there was a TV hanging up on the wall with leather couches and arm chairs, along the walls were numerous deer antlers and heads mounted.
“Did you build this?” S asked.
She shrugged. “I’ve had time.”
Tony ran his hand along the wall, looking at the craftsmanship, while Jarvis surveyed the area. “Morgan would tear this place apart.”
“Morgan?” Adele said, returning behind the counter to a small pot of boiling water.
Tony’s face seemed to light up. “Pepper and I’s daughter.”
She smiled warmly. “Congrates.”
“Thank-”
“Sir, a rapidly approaching figure behind you.”
Tony whipped around and looked around. “Wha-”
He was cut off with a grunt and a tiny fist hit his midsection. “GET AWAY FROM MY ATHLA!”
Adele threw her head back and laughed and Tony genuinely struggled against the little girl. “That’s enough Alix.”
The little girl with blonde hair and shining blue eyes stopped and blinked up at him before scampering off to her mother. “Did I do good?”
The little girl was around four, maybe five, she had her father’s eyes and sharp features but her hair and ears belonged to her mother.
Adele smiled and lifted her up. “Very well indeed,” She turned off the stove and turned to the two gaping men. “This is Tony and Steve.”
Her eyes narrowed, she turned to her mother and whispered quietly, Adele nodded and Alix turned to them with bright eyes. “You know my papa?”
The men melted, Steve met Adele’s eyes from behind her head. “I think so Kiddo.”
She wiggled around and her mother set her down to look at them. “Was he cool as momma?”
Tony wrinkled his nose at the thought of him now. “Not nearly,” He knelt down beside the girl. “What’s your name?”
“Alixandra,” She mumbled, she looked up at him. “I’m sorry for hurting you.”
“I’ll be alright, Hun.”
“Dinner’s ready baby,” Adele said, putting a bit of noodles with white sauce on a bowl. “Floor or table?”
The little girl perked up. “Floor!”
“Careful,” She warned, handing the plate over.
Once she had bounded over and the beginning of Paw Patrol started. Tony looked at her. “Ady.”
“Want food?” She asked, reaching up for more plates. “No trouble, Alix won’t eat the leftovers so-”
“Does he know?” Steve interrupted quietly.
She got quiet and looked at the top of her daughter's head. Very softly and full of sorrow she whispered. “No.”
Tony covered his mouth with his hand and looked at her with wide eyes. “Oh God.”
She shut her own eyes and nodded. “I know.”
“How long?”
“I found out a year after the blip,” She said, swiping a hand down her face. “Just before he went…you know. I got mad at all the drinking n’ shit, he told me if I hated it that much I could leave at free will,” she sighed. “I understood that he’d be in no place to raise a baby, so I ran here.”
They stared at her. “Have you talked to each other?”
“You didn’t hear the way he spoke to me,” She said sadly. “Like I was an ant under his boot, I couldn’t stand the sight of him.”
Tony snorted. “Neither could we when we found him.”
She barked a laugh. “That bad?”
“We brought him to the compound,” Steve told her, grinning. “Drank for an hour, spent the last five days crying over his missing wife.”
“Tell the bastard I refuse to see him until he gets his act together,” She scoffed, the men became uncomfortable. “What?”
Tony cleared his throat. “Ady he thinks you died.”
Adele’s eyebrows raised. “He could not be farther from wrong.”
“And you don’t want to see him under any circumstance?” Steve asked fidgeting, Tony gave him a ‘wtf’ look.
She squinted at him. “Not if I can help it,” Her eyes turned panicked real quick. “He’s not here is he,” She looked at Alix who was giggling at the TV.
“No no no,” Tony said, waving his hand. “It’s just…we have a plan, you know, to bring everyone back.”
The elf turned quiet looking at her daughter and pursing her lips. “You need my help.”
“We need all the help we can get,” Steve corrected. “You know more than anyone about the Aether.”
She sneered and waved her hand, a floating hologram of the infinity stone in question appeared in front of them. “That vile thing was the undoing of my civilization, it’s a goddamn living vessel of evil,” Alix looked behind her in fright, Adele dropped her magic and waved at her daughter.
Alix gave her a confused look and got ready to stand up, her mother shook her head and she plopped back down. As much as Adele would hate to admit it, she wanted her daughter to see the best of this universe and with the blip it wouldn’t happen.
Steve sighed. “I know it’s a lot to ask of you, especially with a kid but-”
She sighed and dropped her head into her hands. “Faja.”
Tony smirked at her swear. “Pepper can watch the kid.”
Adele sat up and glared at the two. “I hate you two.”
“Hey Pepper,” Adele said smiling at the red haired woman, she gasped and sobbed running to hug her.
“Adele! Oh my God, oh my God, oh my..”
The sat for a while and embraced each other, Tony with Alix and Steve with a few suitcases, awkwardly stood there. “Hey there woman I married!” Tony exclaimed prying her away from Adele. “Missed you too!”
Pepper glared at him. “Did you get milk while you were out?”
“Well..no.”
She brushed past him and looked at Steve, again her hand fluttered to her face and she gasped. “Is that-”
The little girl snored again, tucked against Steve’s neck drool falling on his shirt. Adele smiled fondly at her. “This is Alix.”
She took him from Steve and into her own arms, Pepper’s eyes filled with unshed tears and she looked at the toddler. “Is she Thor’s?”
Adele smiled thinly and nodded, Pepper’s look of pity was enough to make her think of less than pleasant memories. “Yes.”
“Mooooooooommmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaa!!!!”
Tony went into the cabin and opened his arms. “Maguna!”
“Dadda,” She said. “Can I have a popsicle?”
He dropped his arms and turned to an amused Adele. “Does yours do this? I put you in your mother, show some respect.”
“Yes or no?” Morgan pressed, she finally looked behind her and her eyes lit up at the sight of Steve. “UNCLE STEVIE,” She bolted up and forgot about the popsicle, Steve set down the bags and scooped the kid into his arms. “What are you doing here?” Finally she set eyes on Adele who was wiping off Alix’s face. “Who this.”
Tony took her from Steve and walked over to Adele. “This is Legolas.”
Adele laughed softly. “Hello Mrs. Stark.”
Morgan watched her. “Who are you?”
“I just told you-”
Adele shushed Tony, getting a laugh out of the little girl. “My name is Adele.”
Her eyebrows furrowed. “Your voice is funny.”
Tony put her down. “She’s an alien, can you show her to the guest room?”
She skipped up the stairs and waited for Adele. “We don’t get visitors a lot, actually sometimes Happy comes. But he doesn’t count. Oh! And Momma’s friend Sarah comes with Josh, but he’s seven and doesn’t like playing with me. Is your daughter five like me? I want more friends, dadda had a lot of friends. In the avengers, were you in the avengers?” She continued to ramble until Alix was laid down and they were walking down stairs. “-You have pretty hair, I wish mine was like yours. My dad likes to braid my hair but I don’t like it.”
Tony smiles as they come into the living room. “Maguna.”
“Are you really an-” She looked at her dad. “What.”
“What?” he mocks. “Bedtime, go with Mom.”
She gasps and clutches Adele’s leg. “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”
Pepper shushes her quickly and picks her up. “C’mon stinky.”
The kid whines and cries all the way up, the three of them sigh and Adele slumps into an armchair. “Oh gods.”
Tony yawns and cracks his neck. “Alright no rest yet, game plan time.”
Sitting around a round table they look at a model of the time machine. “And you’re at 100 percent?”
Adele looked down at her hands. “It’s in my blood, Tony, I’ll be fine.”
“Just double checking.”
Steve pushed off the table. “Then it’s settled, we leave tomorrow.”
“I love you,” Adele said, looking intensely into her daughter’s eyes. “I’ll be gone for a few days, you’ll be here with Aunt Pepper and Morgan.”
She sniffled and rubbed the tears out of her eyes. “Where goin’?”
Her mother smiled sadly. “You remember the stories I told you of?”
Alix gasped and grabbed her mom’s cheeks. “Goin’ see papa? Tell him I love him”
Steve’s eyes turned down and Tony rubbed Adele’s back. The woman shakily kissed her daughter’s forehead and sighed. “I love you Aldalacka.”
“Love you too Athla.”
Adele kept her eyes outside, watching the trees roll by as she got farther from her child.
“She’ll be fine, momma bear,” Steve said looking at her in the rearview.
She chuckled and looked at him. “I know that, just nervous.”
They rolled up to the white building, her eyebrows shot to the car roof and she whistled. “You know I think I liked the tower more.”
Tony laughed. “Well you damn Asguardians kept breaking the roof.”
“Fair.”
They strode into the building, Tony and Steve in their usual attire, Adele wore a pair of black leggings and a dark green t-shirt. She had a duffel bag slung over her shoulder and her pale hair was braided loosely from the top of her scalp down to her waist.
“Someone wanna explain the spaceship?” She asked with a raised eyebrow. “Stark?”
Tony threw his hands up. “Blame the raccoon.”
“The…what?” She paused a few steps from the doors.
“You’ll see,” Steve said, holding the door.
She walked in hesitantly and followed Tony to an elevator. “How many people are here?”
Steve winced. “I’m not sure people is the right word.”
The elevator opened to a board room.
“FUCK YOU I’M RIGHT!”
“SCREW YOU JACKASS ITS 14 AND YOU KNOW IT!”
Tony stomped in, Steve and Adele following behind. “WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?” He yelled.
Slowly she took in the sight before her, The Hulk and a raccoon were leaning over a table looking at a blueprint locked in a screaming match. In chairs, half asleep, was Rhodey and Natasha, Clint was standing beside a door on his phone like this was a regular occurrence, a blue chick was performing live operation to her wrist with a screwdriver, another average looking man was looking at everything in wonder.
She looked around the room slowly before looking at Steve with a quizzical expression, he shrugged, she frowned and crossed her arms.
“Tony,” The hulk sighed, Adele’s jaw dropped. “Finally someone competent.”
“Excuse-”
“Should the jump point be at 7.5 or 14.5?” He asked.
Tony glanced down at the papers. “7.5.”
The raccoon jumped up and clapped his hands with a whoop. “HAH.”
Hulk sighed and erased a note. “Okay then.”
Meanwhile Adele stood blubbering like a fish, Steve walked forward and dragged her with him. “Team, this is Adele, some of you may know her,” Nat, Clint, Rhodey, and Hulk all looked up at her. “Some of you may not,” The raccoon was looking at her ears with dollar signs in his eyes, the average looking man had an awestruck look on his face, the blue lady couldn’t care less. “She’s an elf as you may be able to tell and knows first hand information about the Aether.”
“How much for the ears?” The raccoon asked with a smirk.
She looked at him curiously. “How much to get you to shut up?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Adele?” Natasha said, walking up to her. “Jesus Chirst where have you been?”
She smiled sadly. “Long story.”
Hulk stood up and gave her a bear hug. “Ady!”
Adele squeaked and released a burst of energy from her palm to push him back. “Bruce?!?!?”
He rubbed his neck bashfully and nodded. “Long story.”
She swore in elvish and gave him up and down. “I can tell.”
Clint came up to her next. “Come to collect Gandum Style?”
Her eyebrows furrowed. “Who?”
His face turned surprised. “Thor? You know that god you married?”
“Oh shit,” She mumbled. “Forgot about that.”
Natasha gave her a worried look. “What happened these past years.”
She had opened her mouth to talk about Alix.
A broken whisper came from behind her. “Adele?”
She tensed and slowly turned, for a moment she could say a word, because holy fucking shit this guy needed a day at the gym. “What the fuck.”
His eyes filled with tears. “I-” He stopped and reached for her.
She flinched aggressively and smacked his hand away. “Gakape ke faja raefe kam io (Get the fuck away from me),” She spat. “I don’t want to catch whatever this is.”
If Adele had been in a calm state of mind maybe she wouldn’t be speaking like this. For a moment the heartbroken and longing look of this man's face cleared the clouds. Then she remembered how he treated her after she offered to help every time he was down.
Thor dropped his hand and looked down at his grubby clothes. “I’m not ill.”
“Look at yourself,” She snarled. “Disgusting,” Steve grabbed her forearm and pulled her back before it could get worse. Not before her last words, they jarred him straight to his core. “Io Aldalacka fra losana re reminre (My Alixandra loves you even if she doesn’t know you).”
As she walked away he whispered. “Who is Alixandra?”
Tony sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Jarvis remind me to throw away all of my beer.”
“Will do, sir.”

Still Making a Home
We’ve been in this house for eight months now and still have a long list of changes that we’d like to make. The kitchen is my number one priority (cabinets and granite), but I’d love to update the bathrooms and rip up the awful carpet on the stairs as well. All in good time, I suppose.  It’s been tough to find qualified people with time on their schedules.  We were thrilled that we only had to wait three weeks for the new front door.  I still get a twitchy eye when I think about the painters and carpet installers from last summer.  But waiting for those changes hasn’t kept me from nesting and trying to make our home comfy and pretty.  It’s been fun to seek out special pieces or little bits of decor that finish a room, I’m doubly thrilled if it’s old, chippy, and possibly has a story.  Last month Mickey surprised me with something that ticked those boxes.  Behold...
Tumblr media
an old card catalog!   Look at that dovetail work. Looks like it was done by hand, not machine.
Tumblr media
I’m going to slide some stiff cardstock into these drawers and fill them with everything from paint brushes and ribbon to clay.
Tumblr media
I don’t know when the wheels were added, but I love them. I’m guessing someone got their hands on old library stuff and broke it down into pieces like this.  It’s a perfectly beautiful little side table for the chair in my art room. Beauty that’s functional!  It’s also cat approved. I snapped this last week while I was finishing up our Christmas cards.  Molly was snoozing while Phoebe kept watch on the neighborhood.
Tumblr media
Isn’t that a nice spot for it? It probably needs a doily on top so I can get comfy in that chair with a good book and a warm beverage.  Perfect for a snowy day.  I’m crossing my fingers for a lot of those.
Tumblr media
Phoebe was probably bird watching in that photo.  I have a rocker on the porch and for some reason the little house wrens love to sit on the back of it and sing.  I appreciate the concerts, I need more bird song in my life.
That rocker was the first thing I dressed for the season. The day after Thanksgiving I swapped out the pillows.
Tumblr media
But this post is about the inside of the house.  I’m spending loads of time dithering over the kitchen.  My first instinct was to do the cabinets in a creamy color.  Not a bright white because this house is “open concept” (I hate that term) and it wouldn’t flow with the rest of the living area if they were a stark, pure white.  Creamy colors can tend to pull yellow in the wrong light and I don’t want that either.  So I’ve been daydreaming of going crazy with a thyme green or a deep blue-green-gray.  I think I’d love it, but I’d have to love it for a long, long time.  The color that I can’t get out of my head is Knoxville Gray.
Tumblr media
Isn’t it gorgeous??  It’s that blue-green-gray that I love. With our dark floors and a white granite or quartz I think I could love it for a few decades.  It’s a lot of color, but I think this rich tone is deep enough that it’s not overpowering.  I can see it with pink floral accents and tea towels for the spring and summer months, it’s a perfect backdrop for pumpkins and autumn colors, and in the winter it would look marvelous dressed up with red and icy white.  Does it sound like I’m talking myself into it?  I think I am.  We’re supposed to get serious about the kitchen after the holidays, so I’ll let you know what happens.  I’ll bet I have to wait until spring on the cabinets because no one will want to paint them if it’s cold, right? Ugh. Alright, we’ve gone from the adorable card catalog to bird watching to picking paint colors.  I obviously had no plan when I started typing.  Mickey is upstairs in a photography club Zoom meeting and I’ve already seen the Dateline that’s on, so I thought if I started a blog post something would flow out of my brain and onto this page.  Nope, sorry. Time to flip to a Hallmark channel and lose myself in a sweet romance in Christmasvillefieldgroveton. I’m sure the local single mom trying to keep her bakery/inn/farm afloat (who lives in a million dollar home and has a wardrobe to die for) will find love with the city slicker who needs to be reminded of what really matters (hint: it’s Christmas and love).  No one gets visited by three ghosts anymore. Hope your evening is cozy and that you’re content. If the joy of the season hasn’t washed over you yet, make your own joy - giving it away is usually the quickest way to find it.  Stay safe, stay well.

Complexion: very pale
Picrew 1 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
About The Character
Status: alive, active huntress
Occupation: huntress, former student
Handedness: right
Clothing: Her outfit changes over time, but when she first gets to Beacon she dresses very plainly—typically a white blouse and gray skirt with black boots, sometimes seen in a sweater. As she begins to come out of her shell and her style develops, she begins to develop her signature outfit as others have.
Outfit Colors: blues & whites with gray & silver accents
Accessories: glasses, azur (her weaponized charm bracelet), sometimes some other jewelry
Personality
Marina is quiet, in a word. She prefers to mostly keep to herself and listen to those around her, rather than inserting herself into conversations. Genuinely, she prefers books and characters to people and would be lost in another world for hours if someone let her. Despite her timid personality, she’s got a bit of a rebellious streak and, as she learns to come out of her shell, begins to stand up for what she believes in. When she’s truly comfortable with someone, though, she’ll spend quite a bit of time with them, even if she’s quiet. She enjoys following people around and observing their life and counts it as quality time.
Fear(s): losing people closest to her, anything she doesn’t understand
Likes: big sweaters, reading, literature & history classes
Dislikes: coffee, overly sweet things, things she can’t study for
Habit(s): picking at her nails, nervous habit is cleaning her glasses
Fatal Flaw(s): doesn’t like to argue & doesn’t stand up for herself. She won’t argue a point even if she’s right and will accept consequences for something she didn’t do.
Strengths: close quarter combat, academic courses, piano
Weaknesses: social interaction, group projects, long-range combat
Weapon
Weapon Name: Cadwyn, Asur
Weapon Description: Cadwyn is a long chain with weights on either end, one end being a sickle and the other being a hexagonal shape of metal. The sickle also functions as a gun, with the handle having the place for a trigger and a barrel that shoots past it before it curves.
Asur is actually a gift from her sister that she got after she passed—it was something she made while at Atlas and used in a pinch. When a charm is ripped/broken off, it detonates and releases a smoke bomb.
Relationship With Others
Reputation: Most people either don’t notice her or do and they’re uninterested. She keeps to herself and prefers it that way.
Friends: Her friends that she’s close with outside the team are pretty minimal, however most would agree that she’s very sweet and caring for those that share the same attitude with her. She’s a great listener and has comforting energy, even if she’s not as good at talking.
Team: She considers her team a better family than what she has by blood. She and Roza get on well and tend to do things together outside of school (especially when she wants to go shopping and Marina can’t tell her no). Out of the three others, she’s the least close with Ebony because they’re such stark opposites. They don’t have much in common, but she still has his back and he has hers.
Coal threw her for a loop. At Beacon, she planned on keeping her head low and working with her team when she had to, but Coal didn’t let that happen. From the moment they locked eyes in the forest, she knew she was in for it considering his boisterous and excitable personality. Eventually, she thought of him less as a bee buzzing in her ear, and instead as a friend. That friendship turned into something she hadn’t felt recently: a love that made her feel safe and truly cared for.
Enemy(ies): Her only real “enemies” are the Grimm she’s fighting and rivalries between siblings in her family. Even then, she swears she still cares about them even if she wants to tear her hair out because of them sometimes.
The Character’s Abilities
Agility: 6/10
Swordsmanship:  7/10
Long Range Accuracy: 5/10
Defense: 7/10
Offense: 8/10
Aura: 7/10
People Skills: 2/10
Semblance: She has the ability to mute people’s speech. Marina can control who is affected around her and can flip a switch on whether they can make noise or not. She doesn’t like to use it and it doesn’t help in a fight much so not many know of it.
Brief History
Marina grew up in a large family, the youngest of five siblings in Atlas. As the baby of the family, she had a hard time figuring out how to make herself noticeable compared to her (much older) sibling’s achievements, so let herself fall to the wayside when need be. The one person who wouldn’t allow that behavior past reasonable expectations was her oldest sister, Azura, who insisted on helping as much as she could. Azura was a licensed huntress by the time Marina was ten, and they started training together around that time. They worked out an entire plan for her future: she’d attend Beacon in Vale (because she wanted out of Atlas and away from her family) and she’d follow her sister’s footsteps to become a huntress.
However, before she could even apply, she received news that her sister’s team had been caught in a Grimm attack no one was expecting and Azura had died. While distraught, her entire family’s reaction to the news only spurred her further to attend school and finish what Azura couldn’t.
Trivia
Had no clue the charm bracelet was a bunch of smoke bombs until one broke during a mission and saved her life from some Grimm

How to Turn a Minimal Bedroom Into an Oasis For Rest and Relaxation
Tumblr media
Minimalist bedrooms are known for their clean-lined design and peaceful aesthetic. With a little know-how, you can transform your bedroom into an oasis for rest and relaxation.
Make Simplicity of Minimalist Room
To accentuate the calm simplicity of minimalist rooms, try using one color throughout. This will exaggerate the peaceful feel and help the texture of your bed linens, floors, and furniture stand out.
Minimalist bedroom paint colors don't have to be stark white. Try soft neutrals like creams and soothing beiges for a light, airy palette.
Tumblr media
If a monochromatic look isn't your thing, use a few accent shades to tie the space together. A blue-gray or gray-blue will work well if you're looking for a calming color that won't feel too harsh.
Excellent Minimalist Bedroom Design
Similarly, black is an excellent option when you want to add contrast to the room without it feeling too stiff or cold. Whether you choose Soot Brown, Black Plum or another strong color from Island Premium Paints, it will help balance the minimalist aesthetic.
Tumblr media
A minimalist bedroom thrives on an abundance of natural light. You can achieve this with a mix of window treatments and mirrors.
Alternatively, you can keep things simple by opting for transparent white curtains that allow the light to reflect and add warmth to the space.
How to Build Room Feels Cozy
If you prefer a more subtle approach to lighting, you can install LED fittings that are hard to spot in daylight. These are designed to come alive at night, so they’re only noticeable when you need them. Abstract Shapes
Abstract shapes are a great way to add personality and unique style to your minimalist bedroom. They can be anything from rocks and clouds to leaves and flowers.
Abstract shapes can evoke emotion and meaning in a room, and they can even be symbolic. They can also convey a sense of peace and calm.
Tumblr media
The key to incorporating abstract shapes in your design is to find ways to incorporate them into your decor without overpowering it. One way to accomplish this is by adding round wall mirrors. These are a popular choice because they can make a large impact in a minimal space without overwhelming it. Many company build minimalist home with beautiful bedroom design and if you want to get it check sites property.thegardengranny.com.

Made a better render to my HH battle dress with color! Color palette is pretty simple as it mainly consists of black and blue. Understandably, red is a main focus to the show however, my focus was to keep her separated to further emphasize that she comes from a different world since MC’s version of “H3ll” would be “Sheol” which is normally depicted as the land of “gloom and darkness”.
The main dress (the first layer) is a midnight blue gown with silver and white accents (her collar and the lining on her bust) while the second layer with the ribbon wrap is black. The beads are a dark blue. Her arm sleeves are (in order) white, gray, and black with white cuffs. She does have claws which are a dark blue too but I forgot to color her hands. She wears a stark white ribbon on the back of her dress because I like to imagine her running around with it trailing behind her.
It’s not shown here (because it’s 6:45am and I suffer from insomnia) but she uses her wings like a cape. I was inspired by Alucard from the Castlevania anime and thought it both beautiful and clever.
I still can’t draw a decent lace line lol

Unlock the Secrets of Color Schemes in Jewelry
Jewelry is more than just adornment; it’s a form of self-expression. From elegant necklaces to dazzling earrings, the colors we choose can significantly impact the overall look and feel of our accessories. Understanding color schemes in jewelry can elevate your style and help you create stunning combinations that reflect your personality. So, let’s delve into the world of color and uncover the secrets of harmonious jewelry design.
The Basics of Color Theory
Before we dive into specific color schemes, it’s essential to grasp the basics of color theory. The color wheel is a valuable tool that helps us understand how different hues interact with each other. Colors can be classified into primary (red, blue, yellow), secondary (orange, green, purple), and tertiary (red-orange, yellow-green, blue-purple) categories. Additionally, colors can be warm (reds, oranges, yellows) or cool (blues, greens, purples), depending on their undertones.
Monochromatic Magic
Tumblr media
Monochromatic color schemes involve using variations of a single color. In jewelry design, this can create a sophisticated and cohesive look. For example, pairing different shades of blue sapphires or green emeralds can add depth and elegance to your ensemble. Monochromatic schemes are versatile and can be tailored to suit any style, whether you prefer subtle sophistication or bold statements.
Complementary Contrasts
Tumblr media
Complementary colors sit opposite each other on the color wheel and create vibrant contrasts when paired together. In jewelry, this can mean combining hues like blue and orange or purple and yellow. The stark contrast between complementary colors adds drama and visual interest to your accessories. For instance, a pendant featuring a deep amethyst paired with citrine accents can create a striking focal point.
Neutral Elegance
Neutral colors such as white, black, gray, and brown can serve as the perfect backdrop for showcasing vibrant gemstones. In jewelry design, neutral tones can add sophistication and versatility to your accessories. Whether it’s a classic pearl necklace or a sleek diamond bracelet, neutral hues provide a timeless elegance that complements any outfit.
Conclusion
In conclusion, color plays a vital role in jewelry design, influencing the overall look and feel of your accessories. Whether you prefer monochromatic elegance, complementary contrasts, or bold triadic schemes, understanding color theory can help you create stunning combinations that reflect your individual style. So, go ahead, explore the endless possibilities of color, and let your jewelry be a true reflection of who you are.

The Top Interior Designer NY Trends Taking Over
New York City is a hub for innovation and cutting-edge design in everything from fashion to food to visual arts. It should come as no surprise that interior design follows suit, with some of the most progressive and unique trends leading the way. From boutique firms to individual interior designer NY has no shortage of creative talent pushing boundaries in residential and commercial spaces.
Tumblr media
We’re breaking down the top interior design trends making waves in NYC right now. Whether you’re looking to refresh your home or want inspiration for a commercial project, understanding these trends is key to capturing the essence of New York’s dynamic design scene.
Organic Shapes and Forms
Nature is having a major moment in interior designNYC. Look for organic, irregular shapes and forms that bring the outdoors in. These biophilic elements have both aesthetic and functional benefits, connecting people more closely to nature while also providing visual interest.
NYC designers are incorporating organic shapes and forms in various ways, including custom millwork and built-ins with asymmetric shapes, curved walls and ceilings, kidney-shaped coffee tables or oval dining sets, and abstract art or lighting fixtures inspired by natural elements. The overall feel is fluid yet grounded.
Warm, Moody Hues
Gone are the days of all-white, stark interiors. Rich, moody hues are taking over in their place for a cozier, enveloping feel. Deep greens, navy blues, charcoal grays, and warm metallics like bronze and brass are some of the most popular paint colors and materials right now. Often used on cabinetry, walls, and even ceilings, these colors provide a dramatic backdrop for decor and artwork.
By balancing moodier hues with plenty of natural light and lighter accent colors and decor items, NYC designers are creating spaces that feel glamorous but still livable in real life. This trend effortlessly walks the line between stylized and comfortable.
Sleek Minimalism
At the other end of the spectrum, sleek, minimal interiors devoid of clutter continue to gain traction. This aesthetic highlights quality over quantity, with a tightly edited mix of furniture and decor that makes intentional statements.
Expect to see lots of neutral colors and materials, like white oak and marble, coupled with modern silhouettes. Clean lines, ample negative space, and an absence of overly personal clutter characterize this trend. High-end lighting fixtures and artwork take center stage. NYC designers often apply this minimal treatment to open-concept spaces, making them appear even more spacious and airy.
Maximum Texture Mixing
Forget playing it safe by sticking to one texture—mix and match for true depth and visual appeal. Smooth glass, nubby wool, glossy lacquer finishes, natural stone—you name it-is, fair game. The key is to incorporate these varied textures strategically so that there is plenty for the eye to discover without crossing over into cluttered territory.
In addition to using a range of textiles like wool area rugs, silk pillows, cotton throws, and velvet upholstery, creative shelving, and object styling make the most of contrasting materials. Matte ceramics combined with sleek metal bookends, a wooden bowl holding apples and oranges, and rough linen napkins on a smooth marble dining table bring this playful approach a new dimension.
Custom Built-In Storage
As real estate prices continue to rise in NYC, so does the need to maximize square footage through smart storage solutions. Custom built-ins offer tons of hidden storage capacity while also personalizing a space. From floor-to-ceiling bookshelves to window seats or bench seating with storage compartments underneath, built-ins are tailored to exact room dimensions and needs.
In addition to anchoring a room, built-ins add architectural detail suited precisely to each home. They also reduce visual clutter by containing items that would otherwise crowd surfaces. For these reasons, custom built-in cabinetry, shelving, and storage reign top NYC interior designers and their clients.
Statement Lighting Takes Center Stage
Lighting serves both practical and aesthetic purposes, making it a focal point rather than an afterthought in interior design. From sculptural pendant lights to vertical sconces and custom chandeliers, statement-making fixtures elevate rooms beyond basic overhead can lighting.
In addition to striking stand-alone fixtures, creative arrangements like staggered wall sconces or clustered pendants make ordinary lighting extraordinary. By mixing different shapes, sizes, and styles, lighting becomes an artistic element unto itself. Statement lighting pulls together an interior design concept while also injecting personality. For maximum versatility down the road, smart NYC designers opt for fixtures that allow customizable shades and bulbs.
Final Thoughts
Interior design trends come and go, but some standouts like these take hold beyond passing fads. Both residential and commercial spaces in NYC benefit from focusing on quality over quantity, clean lines, creative built-ins and lighting, edited decor, and bringing nature’s beauty indoors through organic shapes and forms. Rich colors and varied textures also add much-needed depth and dimension when balanced thoughtfully. Keep these key trends on your radar for interior design inspiration that captures the innovation and livability that makes New York City spaces so special. Their influence extends far beyond the five boroughs while retaining a quintessentially NYC point of view.

Choosing the Perfect color trend for Your Kitchen Cabinets
Your kitchen is not just a space for preparing meals; it's a hub of creativity, warmth, and shared moments. One of the most impactful ways to express your style and set the tone for your kitchen is through the color of your cabinets. In this blog, we'll explore the latest color trends and offer guidance on choosing the perfect hue for your kitchen cabinets, creating a space that reflects your personality and stays on the cutting edge of design.
Embracing Timeless Neutrals for kitchen cabinet painting in Phoenix
Neutral colors have a timeless appeal, bringing a sense of calm and versatility to your kitchen. Shades like classic whites, soft grays, and warm beige are enduring choices that create a clean and sophisticated look. Neutral cabinets provide a versatile backdrop, allowing you to play with bolder colors in other elements of your kitchen, such as backsplashes, countertops, or accent pieces.
Bold and Beautiful: Navy and Dark Blues
Bold is in, and deep blues, especially navy, have emerged as a popular choice for kitchen cabinets. Navy cabinets exude elegance and add a touch of drama to the space. Whether paired with contrasting light countertops for a crisp look or complemented by gold hardware for a luxurious feel, navy cabinets are a versatile and stylish option for those looking to make a bold statement.
