Sub-Commander's Log | Twelfth of T'keKhuti, 8972
In the early days of Vulcan, there was no need for spoken words. Records gleaned from the clouded depths of Vulcan’s history are unanimous: society formed without the need for spoken language, as all proto-Vulcans could convey flashes of imagery via their innate telepathy, and what we now know as fu-fe-yontau-Vulkhansu was introduced only later when a proto-Vulcan encountered an a’kweth, one of our planet’s native sand-worms. The creature in question made sounds in conjunction with its own telepathic projection in an attempt to communicate, and as the humans say, the rest is history. Language, for the early Vulcans, captured the emotional or unclear aspects of phenomena more precisely than telepathy would allow. It also created a consistency not otherwise achievable when a concept is being passed from mind to mind.
I have always found it difficult to imagine language developing independent of telepathy, though it is by all accounts the more common phenomenon. However, it seems likely that the lack of any secondary form of confirmation is the source of the unmistakable lack of precision found in most widely known galactic languages. Fu-fe-yontau-Vulkhansu was a language intended explicitly for precision, while early Human languages formed from the struggle to communicate any image at all. I can only postulate this is the origin of such perplexing words as thingamabob”and “doohickey”. (I have consulted several humans to confirm the spelling. It is not in error.
Naturally, Earth philosophy has spent no shortage of time puzzling over the creation of words and their meaning.  What are words? I would argue that the question is unimportant, as all of Vulcan has a shared, un-wordable mental understanding of what a word is that I’m sure could be transferred to a human quite easily if any scholars of lexical semantics merely requested it. Much in the way you cannot make flour out of kreyla, one cannot create a definition of words out of words. Only thought suffices.
Nonetheless, to Plato (no surname), they are the essence of a thing, which the Epicureans largely concurred with, albeit with more specificity. Cratylus further postulated that words were naturally ‘right’ in that they naturally flowed from one another, though gave no basis for the first word ever formed. The Stoics divided words into words corresponding to natural objects and lekta, the unsayable, which correspond to parts of speech unrelated to an object. I am told the study of how words change over time, The Epicureans and Stoics both, rightfully, believed words were a sort of border between the readily apparent and the non-apparent. It is admirable, perhaps, that these two schools came to so correct a conclusion so early, even if an incomplete one, but later study appears to have complicated the idea somewhat. Later philosophers like Augustine separated signs into more and more categories: apparent, non-apparent, temporarily non-apparent, temporarily apparent, and so on. He concluded that words were an essential method of transmitting something from one mind to another, but his interpretation took on an air of divinity and leaned into magical applications of words.
I find myself once again concluding that while humans are able to approach the use of logic in examining the world, they fail to meet it entirely. This has yet to be a useful pursuit.

Ep 9 of Return of the Outcasts Faves
-Shane telling everyone to make some noise so Masu couldn't hear Thoriso calling . The cheer squad on New Yontau "Go Dino Go!" and clapping so nobody could hear Thoriso -Dino misleading Toni etc so they went to him instead of Thoriso -Felix saying his team is a bunch of hypocrites Just the whole reward/immunity was hilarious and fun to watch. -Dante "Why did you vote for me Dino?" because you are gunning for him Dante?? -everyone looking for an advantage/idol lol There was probably more but all I can hear in my head is "go Dino! Go Dino!" Little sh*ts on New Yontau

Oh my god will my luck ever get better this year? Probably not. First my job loss (well job limbo more like it while I wait to see if this other company is going to keep me on sob) then my health condition decides to try to take me out yesterday and today and I worry I caught covid or something which will affect me terribly with no immune system really. AND NOW today just when I was super ready to go on a Masu and Yontau gif spree and Gif more Mandalorian I accidentally cut my finger tip with the nail scissors, sliced it and it won't stop bleeding. >_<

Episode 3 had me sobbing and laughing my head off. I really need other Survivor friends/fans lol you can message me here it's a sideblog but you probably saw my main blog like your Survivor posts.
-Pinty's reaction to Chappies being voted out like "ughh you got rid of Chappies?Rude" and then afterwards just like Chappies, she does a night food steal and causes food drama lol -Thoriso hiding in the bushes like a creeper while rumours spread about Tevin having the idol -Tevin just flat out saying he doesn't have the idol then Tania admitting (falsely) she started it and everyone trying to find the idol only for Seamus to end up with a very public idol. -Shane, Tejan my guys lying low to avoid trouble <3 -The whole Marian and Toni drama...what the actual fuck Toni? Marian might be weak or a liability because of her skin condition? No. And then Marian crying made me cry and Steffi comforting her, I just really loved that moment. -Yontau won ANOTHER immunity because the Masu tribe is an utter trainwreck with them all fighting amongst themselves while the premergers are (kind of) a unit -Tania and Pinty feud over food but I am here for it lol -the vote was a blindside again . I think it's smart for Marian and Shane to stay distant from each other. -My man Tejan being the only male from Masu without a vote for his name yeahh boy you got this! -Marian and Steffi finding the diplomatic immunity. After watching it I really have a good feeling about Marian. I am rooting so hard for her ;-; everything she's been through and how much she's fought, I hope she'll continue to fight.

It makes me feel icky knowing (haven't seen ep 3 yet) that Toni tried to use Marian's skin condition against her, saying that she was possibly a weak link to the tribe. Marian is a fighter, a survivor and I don't know why but this season I am rooting for her and Shane especially hard and Tejan because I wanna see the old schoolers at the end. Tejan may be quiet now but if you haven't seen his original season, believe me he has the skills to outwit people. He was a little shit on season 4, stirring up all kinds of chaos. It's smart of him to lay low for now and not put a target on his back I think. ALSO YONTAU WINNING ANOTHER IMMUNITY YES LET'S GO YONTAU!!

YONTAU! It makes me so happy to see that pre-merge tribe win this first immunity. Because I know how badly they want it. And I thought they'd just lose challenge after challenge based on the strength of Masu. And then they WIN the first immunity and fight so hard? I can't help but cheering them on even if most of my fave players are on Masu lol. -wasn't expecting to come away loving Thoriso as much as I did. I think she's very smart -I was confused who got the outpost idol. Steffi and Shane wouldn't vote for Tevin would they? lol and why did Seamus and Thoriso say they wanted them to give it to Tejan? (someone explain via pm you can't reply to my posts lol) Unfortunately I have to get ready for work now so I can only finish half the episode but wow Yontau that made me cry seeing how hard they fought to win that immunity.

My favourite parts of episode 1 of Survivor SA Return of the Outcasts
-Felix saying this was going to be a s**t show (he's probably not wrong) but in premerge tribe, I think strength will be a factor so they may need Felix. -Pinty referring to the season 4/5 contestants as being fossils or from the ice age which is so funny to me because AT LEAST FOUR OF THEM are on my draft team (Marian, Shane, Phil and Tejan) -the Chappies/Dante duo surprised me. I'm glad to see Chappies either way and his wanting an Aquaman duel with Dante to win the Aquaman crown was hilarious. -the pineapple drama. What was even the pineapple drama? -speaking of drama the whole thing between PK and Marian felt really weird and Marian's reaction to it was so funny. -SHANE AND MARIAN my favourite villainous duo I was so so happy to see these two back, and I think they are playing a smart game by not highlighting the fact they are a duo. I loved Shane so much when watching season 5 and Marian grew on me now too -Seamus talking about how being first boot from his season made him feel and how he had to reflect on it made me so sad but also made me want to root for him just a little harder. -Palesa queen please get out of the bottom :( -The whole outpost thing has me like :o :O :O and now I am desperately waiting the next episode (except I work all day tomorrow :() to know who gets the idol? Who is going to get it? It's kinda cracking me up that whoever loses tribal council could be sitting there (say it's Yontau) and suddenly in walks a Masu to wreck all their plans. -AND that preview lol of course why would I be surprised Chappies is up to something because of course he is, it's Chappies. -I cheer on underdogs quite a lot so I'm really eager for Tejan, Palesa, PK and Toni to somehow flip the script. I hope Chappies realizes he's probably on the bottom of that alliance.
