Some questions you can ask yourself if you're unsure whether you've forgiven someone:

Am I able to pray for them?

Do I feel the need to remind them or others of what they did?

Do I hold what they did against them in disputes?

I am also amused at how much christian his take on penance looks like.opposed to the #idea of being judged by Maat (here Ammit); the idea that it was not possible to be perfect; just balanced.Instead every way penance #atonement-repentance is interpreted; he won't ever get absolution.penance from paenitentia=repentance as the desire to be forgiven; #which he wants. he knows his hope is futile; but he still desires it. He uses the interpretation of penance; as deeds done out of penitence #focusing more on the external actions; than the repentance=referred as the true interior sorrow for one's hurtful words or actions. #He sees his sin as having enjoyed dealing out pain on khonshus behalf; but repentance implies a purpose of amendment which means the #resolve to avoid such hurtful behavior in the future. If his #penance is dependent on the kindness of god we know he is out of luck. Even taking an approach to penances as epitemia which #are given with a therapeutic intent so they are opposite to the sin committed; he is again out of luck. He can't do epitemia in the true #sense of it=which is doing the opposite of his sin. He would need to give up his life for the ones he took.I still believe that he; #as a true ex-avatar of khonshu; is constantly suicidal. So maybe his endgame secretly was that his death should serve as the #last penance. But true epitemia; that is neither a punishment; nor merely a pious action; is specifically aimed at healing the spiritual #ailment that has been confessed; that will be forever out of his reach. There are so many times I want to post my thoughts about how certain aspects of the faith come across differently to me now that I’m not Catholic anymore (especially certain Bible verses), but it’s hard to think of a way to word things that doesn’t come across like I’m trying to “start shit.”

#the most recent example is how Catholics cite St. Paul talking about receiving Communion in an ‘’unworthy manner’’ #as evidence of the teaching that you shouldn’t go up for Communion if you’re in a state of ‘’mortal sin’’ #which I used to find very convincing but actually looking at that part as a whole St. Paul isn’t really talking about ‘’mortal sin’’ at all #if anything the whole ‘’you must be CLEAN and SINLESS first’’ being the main focus almost contributes to a sense of pride? #like I see so many posts (and used to contribute to them myself) about feeling disgusted at all the people going up for Communion #‘’I bet these people haven’t gone to Confession in a long time’’ #‘’I bet they shouldn’t be going up there’’ #that’s not to say confessing and repenting of sins beforehand isn’t important because it very clearly is #but Catholicism pushes the idea that whether or not you confessed a ‘’mortal sin’’ to a priest is THE one thing #you should have on your mind when considering whether or not you can receive as a faithful Catholic #and again…St. Paul doesn’t really talk about that before throwing in his take on ‘’receiving in an unworthy manner’’ #in fact he’s mainly pissed off at how the Corinthians act during their weekly gatherings and how they’re treating each other during the meal #he doesn’t talk much about ‘’WHY HAVE YOU NOT CONFESSED YOUR SINS FIRST???’’
