Today’s #protiptuesday I wanted to talk about bike sizing. I thought it might be interesting to do some riding on my 2016 ( well I rode this in 15 but this was a 2016 model and 2016 parts)@yeticycles #sb6c. Most of the parts are very similar or the same as what us still being used today, the suspension also had quite a bit of love from fox, and I’d say they are fairly comparable to the stock suspension of today. The switch infinity system has evolved but is still largely the same. So the only real major difference is sizing and geometry, and 27.5 wheels.

Sure I’ve only had one ride on it but, it’s been more than enough to confirm what I’ve been thinking for a few years now, that bikes sizing and geometry has reached a point where we’ve hit the sweet spot, sorry @pinkbike I don’t think the grim donut is going to catch on haha. So the 2016 medium sb6 has a reach of 421 and the 2020 medium sb150 has a reach of 460, so quite a big step up in length. I also tried a large sb150 at 480 reach and knew straight away it was too big for me. Which confirmed my thoughts of preferring a bike that is a bit small over a bike that is a bit big. I think people put too much focus on the positive traits of the (new school) longer reach numbers, like more room for better body position and room to move the bike around underneath you for more stability. And gloss over what the older,smaller sizes do well (better in tight turns and easier to throw around) I think people need to try sizes and work out what works best for them and don’t just choose a size based from what the current trends are for longer, slacker, lower. Because to be honest I think some companies have gone too far.

I guess the main point of what I’m trying to say is that I think the current bigger bikes are better overall but if your in between sizes and can’t decide, I would strongly reccomend the smaller size. I was pretty surprised that I could go back to a frame almost 40mm shorter, and be comfortable on it within a few minutes of total descending time. This thing is still a ton of fun to ride.

What I will say for sure though is that I’m sooooo glad we have longer than 125mm dropoer posts now! Haha ≫――――――≪

HI i had a horrible dragon ball thought and thought i should send it to you because i haven't done that in a long time :(

love stumbling across screenshots that remind me that akira toriyama doesn't give a shit about canonical heights EVER and just says numbers when asked and doesn't follow said numbers.

Like i was taking a peep at the manga because i want to learn how to replicate the art style (my most serious art has already been damaged by the dragon balls i draw and i say it like... damaged. but i don't mean that i think thats a good thing because thats what i want) and i find these bits from the 23rd tenkaichi budokai where Yamcha (6'0") and Tien (6'2") are both like a head taller than Goku (5'9") which... no they aren't lol. but it's fun to think that they are so I'll incorporate that into my belief system regardless.

And i also found this one picture from the end of the anime (equally inaccurate about numbers which i find delightful. i am incredibly amused by this.) where Goten (??) is like also a head shorter than Trunks (5'7"? probably, that's how tall future him was at that age idk man who fucking knows. not me.) which would probably put Goten at like... Vegeta height in terms of dragon ball inaccuracies because 17 year old Future Trunks was depicted as being considerably taller than his father in canon.

And that's generally insane because as far as i'm aware Goten is usually depicted to be vaguely taller than Trunks when they grow up to what should be their full heights in fan works? which is fair because Trunks is REALLY doing his best with what he has (Vegeta dna)

Also about Trunk's height- future Trunks (malnourished by saiyan standards... and probably earthling standards too) is really only 5 cm shorter than Goku?? which is not even much actually, Future Trunks is about as tall as LIONEL MESSI which, sure I'm Argentinian and that's my like referent for short men sue me... but that's hilarious because Goku is only 5 cm taller than that like what. and adult Gohan is only 6 cm taller than that! because he's only a single fucking centimeter taller than Goku! why is he only a fucking centimeter taller than his father. who even cares about that. him? probably not.

Also to expand onto the Vegeta Height Goten thing, that'd be so funny personally because i feel like the second neurotic ass SON OF VEGETA Trunks notices this he would tear his own hair out, i think he would resent that fact with everything he had. i don't even quite know why he would hate it yet, but i do know that he wouldn't be a fan of it.

But of course none of this fucking matters. because akira toriyama is a bitchass motherfucker and if i had a wife he would piss on her.

To be fair it must be hard to give a shit when you're depicting multiple characters in complex scenes and poses and angles all of the time.

BUT THEN WHY TRY TO DISCLOSE NUMBERS AT ALL !??!?!??!

I get the impression that he just draws characters as they feel. Even though Goku went through a growth spurt before the 23rd tenkaichi budokai, he's still younger than the others and he's still always been an aspiring young shoot, so Tenshinhan and Yamucha still need to be taller (and therefore more mature) than him.

That's why Vegeta steadily got taller as he gained wisdom and muscle mass.... he had to look more important.

Goten is kept shorter than Trunks consistently, except in GT I feel like they're allowed to be on-par. But they're both definitely taller than Vegeta I mean come on.

If the real meaning comes from visual impressions then I'll be on record as saying that watching Future Trunks on-screen you definitely see one TALL STACK of fresh organic non-GMO free-range Super Saiyan BEEF. Perhaps he should be shorter like his father. But when have animes cared about genetics

Trunks is always a tall bitch and Goku is always so tall and Gohan is always so tall and Goten even is so tall. They're all so tall. And then they keep making Vegeta taller too.

hey remember when i talked a lot about maté and Trunks and Goten and maté? I think while the whole maté situation is calming down they would fuse again for reasons that they don't even know-

they really just do that shit sometimes at this point and being Gotenks is a 30 minute gamble cuz he either does something awesome or spends them all watching the spiderman movie trilogy via a 30 minute ytph (hispanic youtube poop, i mention the hispanic part because there is literally a 30 minute ytph of spiderman on youtube and i watched it in one of my most deranged states possible, such as the one i'm writing this to you in) and like they don't even remember the ytph clearly so it wasn't even worth it like what the fuck Gotenks we're never fusing again (they fuse again a couple of days later)

Ok the point was they would stop their Maté Cold War and fuse again and when they unfused they would find themselves in the capsule kitchen surrounded by wet yerba (the plant yknow that maté is) and like sugar and water all over the floor and its a huge fucking mess and there's a maté cup turned over and the thermos is on the floor too and there's a broken glass juice jar with ice that hasn't melted yet and their mouths taste like grass and have no fucking clue what just happened.

They never really find out but they know it must have been bad, absolutely fucking terrible even, and after getting like scolded and made to clean GOTENKS' mess they decide to put their stupid maté aside for GOOD and now they get together to drink it like normal fucking people and now Trunks makes terere for Goten on purpose and he's like "yo dude i made this for you" because he has chilled out (about the maté thing not about anything else) and Goten would be like "haha aww you do give a shit Trunks oh my god" and they would be normal about maté. except not really. because those boys have a primal strangeness to them that i don't think will ever go away, and that's like, awesome i think, it's lovely even.

Anyway that was that but now im thinking about like after this event maybe their families notice that they fucking stopped with the whole "*makes you drink maté* and *EXPLODES YOU WITH MY MIND*" thing and maybe they do like a thing with all the Z fuckos at Bulma's house again like "yeah let's get together and have a drink and hang out why not since these little idiots have finally stopped arguing about the cooler tea" and

i don't fucking know where i was going with this actually i just had two ideas about this possible scenario

Goku and Vegeta attempting to have maté together alongside everyone else and probably fail miserably because they are. them. you know them. Also Goku would probably drink maté with sugar and Vegeta would fucking hate that i think

Yamcha is there.

"Yamcha is there" is open to interpretation but i personally think he would have a look at Trunks preparing the maté and he'd be pleasantly surprised.. Also he's one of those guys that puts extra herbs and stuff on maté like orange peels or a little coffee or sweetens his with burnt sugar caramel....

Yamcha is very gaucho-esque to me in a very special way like he's a lot like Goku in the way they both have this very warm welcoming rural aura to them but Yamcha is more like my grandma that would go to the countryside of Santiago Del Estero and come back with ostrich eggs?? and would make me omelettes with ostrich eggs sometimes?? and let me keep the eggshell and paint it and stuff- Yamcha would do that to trunks he would go to the countryside and be back with something for him and he'd tell him tips about making maté and stories about the animals and stuff cuz i would be like 8 years old and my grandma would be back from Santiago and she'd be like "i killed a chicken :) and we ate it" and i'd be like woow grandma thats so awesome you're so cool and i think Yamcha would be back and he'd be like "Que onda pibe adivina que te traje del campo?"(what's up kid, guess what i brought you from the countryside?) and maybe he'd bring him like-

ONE OF THOSE RED STRING ARTESANAL BRACELETS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO WARD OFF BAD ENERGY- Yamcha would SO bring Trunks one of those i just know it i feel it

Going in order:

GOTENKS WOULD.

ABSOLUTELY FUCKING EVERYTHING UP..! TRUNKS'S YOUTUBE SEARCH HISTORY , HIS KITCHEN , HIS INTEGRITY, HIS LIFE, ETC ..

It's like Gotenks is a metaphor for whatever potency is occurring between Goten & Trunks, he's a manifestation of their union, and so his life's purpose / natural way is to behave in a manner conducive to the necessary expression & resolution of whatever Goten & Trunks are going through. They both secretly are missing the days when they used to make youtube poops together, and so Gotenks watches that spiderman ytph. Their past maté disagreements are incurring subtle rifts in their bond and the silence regarding is beginning to ache, so Gotenks unwittingly mobilizes to address & negotiate with this distress by trying to make maté POORLY in the capsule kitchen.

UM GOKU LITERALLY WOULD DO THAT LIKE .. obviously tastes change with age but I'm thinking about how in the original dragon ball he thought that bulma's coffee was "bitter soup" and while I think that Goku is a Classy and Respectable man, and lives life authentically and organically, and probably drinks maté like a proper gaucho, I Would Not Be Surprised if actually he doctored that shit up with sugar .

And Vegeta would be mad no matter WHAT Goku does . He would be like "why do you put sugar in it, kakarot ..!" and then be like "quit hogging it, kakarot..!"

YAMUCHA IS THERE ..

hey i just related a probably significant life experience to dragon ball and thought you would give me the least normal answer out of anyone i could ask

so i just got back from therapy with my glasses BROKEN IN HALF in my pockets because i was so tense and crying so hard I CRACKED THEM LIKE A FUCKING PENCIL WITHOUT EVEN NOTICING WHILE TRYING TO CLEAN THEM

and i remembered "hey GT Trunks had glasses" so i wanted to ask you specifically if you think that might have been something that happened to him too because i feel like he could very well get to that point of stress in GT specifically like in a meeting he would get so stressed but try to disguise it and try to clean his probably fake glasses and end up breaking them in half

also it could work in your brain as well because i figure that getting bullshit pseudo psychoanalyzed by SON GOTEN would do that to him too but i don't think he would cry in that kind of situation i feel like hes too Vegeta to cry if Goten ever said something remotely true about him in his rambles spawned via Gohan books he should not have been reading because you know how a broken clock is right at least whatever the fuck the saying was?? well i feel like if that ever happened Trunks would just instinctively break anything he had in his hands at the moment or alternatively if Goten said something so wrong it offended Trunks to the point of violence, which should be a lot because he probably prides himself in being civilized and The One In Control when he really fucking isn't but he tries to be even if its pretty fucking shallow he gets points for effort

Also Future Trunks would probably break something he was holding by accident if you scared him, kinda guy to go super saiyan on accident actually even if it's like once in a blue moon because personally at least i think Future Trunks LOOKS like he would a very calm and understanding person and he is about trivial topics! but he's very emotional and prone to anger otherwise, at least TEEN Future Trunks is very prone to act first before thinking even if it might seem that is not his preferred approach to most situations but like he does act rather rashly all throughout Z so i feel like you could scare him into breaking something or anger him enough to make him go super saiyan accidentally (additionally he would feel bad after realizing he had broken something because yknow when you don't grow up with much you don't really wanna be breaking shit even if your situation gets like better and all? not something that would happen to present trunks, who is rich and should be kicked in the balls or something)

But then again there is Old Man Super Future Trunks (He is forever 17 lol)(He is a 30 year old man in Super)(So he's not even that old but like even Goku looked at least a bit older at 30)(Actually no he didn't he kind of looked the same he did at 18 at 29 never mind) Who i believe is a lot more calm by nature of just being.. Sadder. That is a sad man right there he is pretty fucking miserable but he still has hope he always has hope that's his thing anyway he is soo sad i don't think you could scare HIM into breaking anything or turn him super saiyan on accident i feel like he has his strenght under control these days and if you made him angry enough he would have a very toned down reaction unless it was like a universe threatening deal in which case he would go berserk like he would've as a teenager yknow as he does

also back to the glasses.. I like the idea of the glasses not being fake for some reason i think trunks should get glasses since saiyan hybrid vision CAN deteriorate as seen with Gohan being BLIND AS FUCK so i feel like at some point Trunks would end up damaging his vision since well- i'm pretty sure it was just like flavor text somewhere but Future Trunks enjoys tinkering with machines and as we previously discussed (months ago the fucking bra electric car saga) Trunks would probably be alright with hardware at least, so i find it fun to think that young Future Trunks would try to like fix the dragon radar or something and he'd be either holding it comically close to his face or he'd be completely hunched over like a shrimp and Bulma would walk in and be like "Ooh there is something wrong with his eyes. fuck." and Future Trunks would be like "Oh yeah that makes sense.." and his Gohan never really got to the point of needing glasses but he would probably choose something Gohan would have for his new frames

And if Present Trunks was in that same situation he would drop to the floor defeated and punch it like he was just told he was gonna die tomorrow because he thinks glasses are for nerds and he isn't a fucking nerd and he would refuse to wear them and years later he would be like "Shit i do need glasses alright i'm the smart one anyway i can rock that shit"

This would however not happen to "relatively normal for a saiyan" grown ass man GT Trunks. He would notice if something was wrong with his eyes and get his dumb fake glasses some real lenses.

i think it's important to get that sort of energy out when you have it .. Im glad your broke your glasses. But the expression of such energy is more effective and consummate when you are really aware of how your body feels when feelings come on and when you move your muscles. Next time you should break your glasses with more attention and purpose and while really feeling through how it feels to engage those muscles in order to discharge the energy mobilized more efficiently. if you can. for greater healing. If it's not overwhelming in the moment . Not that I care or anythinf .....

Trunks takes his glasses off to clean them as a way to create space between himself and what bullshit these executives are spinning in his meeting room .. And then he looks down and in his hands there is just. Shards. Crumbs if you will

THANK YOU for seeing and acknowledging that Goten "bullshit pseudo psychoanalyze[s]" him. Thank you for knowing that it's bullshit and inspired by his cursory-not-really readings of Gohan & Videl's books. It's so important

I think that it's interesting to see Trunks as someone who purposefully keeps himself composed and calm, even in front of Goten, ESPECIALLY in front of Goten, because Goten just does not work like that. And with all of his time with Trunks, he should be able to see through Trunks's exterior, so even if Trunks is putting up a front (which Goten would take offense to since theyre such good friends), Goten would see through it no problem. And if Trunks doesn't succeed and in that moment breaks his glasses in his hands, Goten would probably definitely notice.

I don't know what he'd say ... Goten would be on again about Trunks's emotional armoring and how his circumcision factors into that (he had a brief conversation with Videl about certain theories by Wilhelm Reich ONCE and now he thinks he knows things and he believes what little he knows 100%). And Trunks takes his glasses off to rub his eyes because he's sick of hearing about his circumcised pingo. And then Goten says something about how Trunks's skin always goes cold when Goten tries to give him kissies and Goten thinks it's because that Trunks rejects the feelings of affection in that moment because he doesnt trust Goten with his feelings since Goten, despite always being emotionally available, has always been player 2 and the younger one, and Trunks doesnt think he can trust little Goten with his feelings + he doesnt want to burden him with that + to give Goten his feelings would admit that Trunks isn't that grand or cool and that his momentous inner self is actually totally manageable, thus retroactively delegitimatizing the way that he's kept to himself his whole life, tobbling Trunks's entire self-image. And Trunks wants to say that this is bullshit but he wants to put his glasses on first and he moves to do that but they're just fucking shattered in his hands

Very interesting about Future Teen Trunks ... I definitely thought that he was calm, careful, and utilitarian. But I also remember watching it and feeling strongly "you can tell he's 17" and maybe that's what I was seeing? The passionate conviction that is perhaps orchestrated with more fire than is due? If he accidentally broke something he would have a proper burial for it like Gohan taught him.

Future Trunks in dragon ball super would not break anything ever becasue he's trained himself not to but I think that deep down he still wants to. He feels feelings and he just wants to squeeze really hard. He just wants to snap something. But he refrains. And that sucks

Future Bulma WOULD notice her son's eyesight. Present Bulma would not. This is becasue she does not notice that her own eyesight is not thsat good. She would be like "here put these goggles on so you can see better" she doesnt think like "hey maybe he and I should wear glasses ALL of the time" becasue she deosnt need to see that well unless building something sooo. Lol. Her vision is good enough. When everyone else can see something she can't she assumes it's just because they're a warrior and they train. If she saw her son hunched over trying to build something she would be like "Stop playing all those video games, you're ruining your eyes!" and then she goes to stare at a screen for 11 hours coding something

HE WOULD FALL TO THE FLOOR AND START PUNCHING IT!!! HE'S NOT A NERD!! But then later he would be cool with it because it makes him look smart and he IS the smart one anyway so it works. HE JUST CHANGES THE CONNOTATIONS OF THE GLASSES SO THAT IT SUITS HIS SELF-IMAGE .. so that he can justify WEARING THEM and BEING ABLE TO SEE!!! thats so perfect ... he just redefines reality

Insane about Aro GT Trunks in the best way possible because to me he still pretty much loves Goten in a totally platonic way but also they are forever soulmates so i think they're more than friends and i dont think Goten and Trunks ever had like any boundaries at all because Goten is a weird dog and Trunks is like just down for it and thats just how they grew up so i feel like Trunks is so used to Gotens bullshit that if like Goten started kissing him on the mouth or something he'd be like "huh, so we're doing this now" and he'd start doing it too once the fact settles in and if Goten like told him he loved him or he liked him or whatever the fuck he'd be like "yeah man, same, i thought that was a given" because GT Trunks is like the least affected by my "Trunks is Lowkey a Stupid Tsundere" tinted glasses, AND IT'S BECAUSE HE'S ARO, he just doesn't even care but one day he's gonna end up practically dating Goten and he'd be like "damn" and he'd just go along with it because its Goten and he loves Goten yknow but not that way but ENOUGH in another way that he would be down with the romantic affections even if he doesn't get them at all and he would just unironically kiss the homies goodnight because he doesn't give a shit and he's used to Gotens bullshit pseudo affection like ear licking is kinda gross but as Goten grows up it gets a little less gross so Trunks doesn't mind anymore and it's not like he wants to date Goten, that's like his best buddy ever dude it ain't happening BUT they totally do like dating stuff and Trunks seems like he's in a glass fucking closet with how much he denies liking Goten but he just fucking doesn't, sure he loves him but he doesn't like LIKE him, yes he will kiss him or whatever weird bullshit Goten came up with today but in a completely platonic way because Trunks just doesn't feel it yknow he just doesn't get it but he's not opposed to it he just does not care and he's so chill before he goes insane in space so i don't think he actually minds,

You are making so much sense. I am honored to offer a platform for which you may speak the #TrutenTruth through.

When I read this through the first time I started counting on my fingers and saying outloud “YES” to every agreeable clause and fragment and by the end I was over 20 and then it ended and then I heard the knell of a gong in my head signifying the end of the most intense round of TrutenTruth ever.

Much of this I have either said or felt was true myself before, but all of it is readily understandable and immensely agreeable. I have a lot of iterations of Goten & Trunkz in my head and occasionally I will see a post that is like ... one of the Consummate Tenets of Goten & Trunkz to me. Whether it’s expressing something I was personally trying to get at or not. And every time that happens I feel a little closer to fulfillment and satisfaction. Like I need to talk about Goten & Trunkz less and less because more and more of the truth is being successfully articulated and communicated and understood.

This is one of those posts. This is THE CONSUMMATE TRUTEN TRUTH !

Breakdown of personal opinion under the cut:

I feel like Trunks needs Goten as a LIFE PARTNER, because he’s not especially keen on meeting new people and trying to pick a wife. If it happens naturally then that’s fine, but he doesn't want to have to put in the effort, he has no real “objective” to shoot for in doing so. He has no burning desire for romance or for children. But he does need support and friends and love, and the family he has is important to him, and Goten is a very special pillar in his life. And whether Goten is wholly committed to him or if he takes on a wife of his own DOES NOT matter to Trunks - just as long as they keep being quintessential in each other’s lives, just as long as they maintain that sustaining bond.

hey i just got out of the shower but like i will die if i dont tell you this so im a sopping wet beast as i type this, anyway.

i was thinking about the whole "goten names his kid vegeta the 5th" thing and it occured to me, you know what would be even funnier? if he named the kid vegeta the SIXTH (stay w me here im going somewhere)(somewhere stupid but regardless)

and of course trunks finds out and like "what the fuck do you mean the SIXTH?" and hes confused and for a second he thinks maybe goten or palace messed it up on accident or maybe she changed it last second because she thought sixth sounded better (fun fact this is a normal argentinian occurrence it happened to my mom and it happened to messi, sometimes you just name your kid whatever the fuck and dont tell your spouse and have a laugh about it)

but then goten looks at him like he just hit the most devious lick imaginable, and trunks' brain starts whirring;

instead of the usual Bulma Family Logic that would have lead him to something like "hey, goten is weird as shit maybe he already named like a dinosaur after my dad already and wanted to honor that. he's like that" he goes the Vegeta Pride Logic route of "This MOTHERFUCKER is attacking me he is making fun of me and calling ME!! implying I!! AM VEGETA THE 5TH how fucking DARE he." and he gets really pissed off

anyway he would have been wrong either way because they did change it last second cause it sounded cooler, thats how the third world works i dont make the rules

ANYWAY this would cause repercussions such as: trunks calls goten "goku the third" goten is confused. like. what the fuck man. what are you talking about.

i had an absolutely asinine idea while i was listening to music and i find the concept of goten being absolutely infatuated with trunks and trunks being just.. there- is hilarious to me, i think gohan would find it interesting to study because their ahodere/deredere (he would never call it this) (btw yes hi im yui7) dynamic is very teenage chichi and goku (from what he was told by like his 3 weird uncles) (STRAIGHT UP GOKU AND CHICHI IN THEIR TEENAGE YEARS. IF YOU LOOK UP AHODERE GOKU SHOWS UP ON THE WIKI. GOKU AHODERE POSTERBOY.)

anyway ive been listening to Telepatía and yknow its that song that goes "quien lo diria que se podria hacer el amor con telepatia" ("who knew that you could make love with telepathy") (there is also a clip of a spanish goku imitator singing this, this is important.) and i just have this very strong mental image of goten looking at trunks very lovingly and its all gay and shit and that song is playing in his head but then the camera cuts to trunks and its just like either white noise or like... "mayonesa. ella me bate como haciendo mayonesa." (mayonesa by chocolate.. goofy ahh song i love it. you wouldnt know it, so sad) (there is a clip of a spanish vegeta imitator singing this in the same video as the goku one, i thought that would be important, i think i hallucinated you seeing that vid already?? for some reason?? idk)
