Quick and Important Update

With everything going on I just wanted to make something very clear for this little side blog:

There's been a lot going on in the world right now and due to the nature of this side blog, I didn't originally think about saying anything here because I use this side blog very sparingly (I've mostly been using TikTok and my main account for learning and spreading information). That being said since there are some actors/creators in the DC fandom who are taking a firm stance on these current world issues I just wanted to make it known where I stand.

Free Palestine.

For anyone who wants more information about what's happening in Palestine and what to do, I encourage you to start here with this link:

I also encourage anyone who sees this to continue any education on the matter beyond this link I provided. This link will take you to a website that was created to spread information. It gives a rundown of the history of Palestine and Israel, recommends resources for things to read and watch, people to follow and learn from, and organizations to donate to.

All this being said I will not be supporting any actors/creators that do things like spread misinformation, those that don't support a ceasefire, and those who blindly support Israel's destruction of Palestine. Collective punishment and genocide should not be supported on any level. So far I only know of one person that is explicitly supporting Israel but I'm keeping my eye out for anyone else.

All this being said, I do plan to still write and use this blog for its original intention but if anyone wants more information as it comes out I will be reblogging and spreading information on my main account the most. I will be tentatively posting on this account for the time being as fandom stuff will not be my priority at the moment but I have been working on updates for stories for a while now so those might get released soon.

SnowWells Week 2023 - Masterpost!!!

Before we get to the main part of our ship week that we’ve been waiting for, I wanted to tell you all a small story. Bear with me, I might get carried away and go on for a bit. 

It was November 2014, between episode 1.05 and 1.06 of ‘The Flash’ when I thought of the idea that would become my first Snowells fic “Safe and Sound” (posted in December!) just based off the promo that aired for ‘The Flash Is Born’ and I remember the tinyyyy handful of fans who were around back then starting to talk about the chemistry between these two characters and trying to analyze the hints and the unspoken looks and possible subtext that Caitlin knew that Harrison Wells and the Reverse Flash were the same person; we would constantly be chatting with each other and trying to gauge if there was something that could have happened pre-season 1 airing too (those flashbacks I tell you!) and us voting to come up with the names ‘SnowWells’ or ‘Snowells’ and calling all the Tom Cavanagh fans “Cavanatics” - hence one of my url’s yeaaaars ago being ‘supercavanatic’ (I was ofc a super fan of his so obviously it had to be in my name too lol) 

And then I found someone by complete chance? luck? accident? I don’t remember our first meeting properly (OOPSIE!) or how I actually stumbled upon Aislynn, but before I knew it, we were talking about songs for Snowells and I couldn’t get “Losing Your Memory” out of my head - THIS IS BACK IN 2015 PEOPLE! (was it in TVD? The Originals? Somewhere else? :p) and by the last week of May, just after the season finale aired, she posted the video for me! One of the very first Snowells fanvids belongs to our very own co-mod - totally biased fangirl moment here for me to plug her creation up there where the song is mentioned :p bc where else will I do it! We didn’t partner up together until the second year of Snowells Week, but she was there from the very beginning when I started the event that summer of 2015 and since then, it’s been two best friends, partners in crime, Snowells fangirls and creators working side by side to do the best we can for ALL OF YOU!!! I could probably go on and on and on and on about Aislynn but we’ll be here til next year then! Hee! It would however, be remiss of me, not to mention that without alllll of her gifs and banners and graphics throughout the years for each and every event, Snowells Week would look very different and not as colorful and bright and magnificent! Aislynn’s creations are a testament to her dedication; we were lucky to collaborate on some of our works together, but we need to do more for sure!!! 

I’ve been a part of several fandoms over the years, but never really felt the same sense of wonderful community like this one apart from another instance - where I was also fortunate to handle an event week (4 times total?); it doesn’t matter if we’re 5 fans or 50, the shared feelings of a show and a pairing brought us together and we were able to make something last for nearly a decade, and our ship was never even canon! Not once! Not even directly hinted at or referenced in passing! AND YET HERE WE ARE!!! (I’m actually gonna do a random breakdown post of every statistic I can find separately, within reason, maybe not everything?)

All of this has been made possible thanks to each and every single one of you, the fans who were there from day 1, the fans who joined in last year or even last week, it doesn’t matter when or how much you saw of the show or know about the characters; if something inspired you and it brought about creative expression, that makes you just as much of a fan as anyone and everyone! And if you didn’t make something one year and did the next, if you were just here to like and comment and leave a kudos and cheer us on, that is more than enough too! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it has been an amazing and wonderful journey that I won’t ever get to experience in my lifetime again; that’s the magic of tumblr! Without further ado and before I actually start crying heh… here is our final list -

Final Count - 54 new works!!! That makes this the 3rd highest event in the last 9 years to have the most amount of fanworks, coming in after 110 during year 6 and 65 in year 5!

SnowWells Week 2023 - AO3 Collection Update!

hey guys, I'm still working on the masterpost, it should be ready to go by Monday (July 10th) but I wanted to let you all know that the fanfic collection over on AO3 actually needs permission from the writers themselves for me to be able to add all of the new stories - there's some new update that doesn't let me to do it unless we change our settings!

so the way to do that is to click on "preferences" on your AO3 profile, scroll down to "collections, challenges and gifts" and turn on the option to "allow others to invite my works to collections"

we have a handful of writers apart from Aislynn who posted their fics - @helplessdreamersworld, @thaddeusthawne, and @tomskonna - if you all want to have your new fics added over there!

p.s - in case for some reason I personally can't add other people's fics to the collection once it's all open and available, being the one who isn't the writer, then you could always submit your stories to the collection yourselves? it's called "We're A Team Right?" and I'll approve them! apologies for the slight bump in the road we've run into, I guess between last year and this year some time, AO3 went and changed on us!

SnowWells Week 2023 - Update of Updateyness #2!

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that since we're done with the extended week of our event, I'm gonna get started on writing up our masterpost, but it'll probably take me a couple of days to get everything sorted out since we've done things a little differently this time! So if there's still stuff that you guys wanna post, feel free to do that - I'll just keep updating the list as it progresses! Gonna also start adding the fics on AO3 to the collection there!

Snowells Week 2023: Day 7: Year 7 (Snowells Appreciation Day)

So this is going to be a little different from the other days I will post for this week. I still have more to post but I’ve been a bit delayed due to personal reasons but they will be put out soon! That being said, I wanted to say thank you to everyone in this fandom.

In different ways you guys have inspired me to start creating things that most fandoms haven’t. Maybe it’s because most fandoms are so big and intimidating to join but for me, the snowells fandom has always been this safe place to interact with. Whether it’s everyone’s collective excitement over snowells related scenes or funny joke posts this fandom felt easy to enjoy and participate in.

Funny enough I didn’t start shipping snowells until I ran into my first fanfic for this ship. I knew about it because I had followed some snowells peeps on my old blog (deleted it and recreated a new main & this side blog) but I never really understood the fascination for it. However one night I remember just scrolling on tumblr and accidentally clicking on the wrong ao3 link. For the life of me I can’t remember what fic it was but that’s only because I ended up reading pretty much everything that I could find. This was around the time that the beginning of season 2 was airing if that helps give an idea of what I walking into in terms of the fandom content. I stayed up that night just reading, clicking on fics randomly. I finally understood. And then a short time later Harry saved Caitlin from Grodd and then in the next episode she saved him from a bullet.

I was hooked and excited at the possibility on them getting together and started to silently enjoy them. I looked forward to every possible scene and over the years I kept thinking “Maybe it might finally happen!”. It never did of course but it did give me a lot of ideas.

Then in 2019 I finally found the courage to make my own stuff. It was nerve-racking but I had seen other people’s works and ideas met with so much positivity that I felt brave enough to try. Then I started to post some things and I was like “They’re reblogging it? And liking it? And leaving comments in the tags? 😳🥹🥰”. It meant a lot to me back then and it still means so much to me now. While I still have moments of self doubt, I look back on where I started and how far I’ve come. I honestly don’t think I would have been able to do that in any other fandom.

This community allowed me a space to grow as a writer/creator. I still have room to grow, but being able to participate and get even a few comments really helped build up my confidence and motivated me to learn to improve my skills. I went from writing maybe a few paragraphs to starting to flesh things out way more and planning out more extensive stories. Even though the show is over, I still plan to keep writing for this ship. I’m going to miss this show and these characters but I am hopeful that this fandom will still stay a source of comfort for me and anyone else who might feel the same way.

And while this ship may not have sailed, it was still fun to party on the boat.
