how do you get your art so scrumptious?? i need rendering tips

FINALLY getting around to answering this one because I have the time to now! (I'm so sorry it took so long, I swear I planned to sooner but things got away from me ;-;)

Theses are the main three (3) brushes that I use. The first is for soft shading and shadows. I personally layer two (2) or three (3) layers to get some darker darks.

The second is my main go-to lining pen. I mostly start out by having it a dark pink when I line, before changing the colour near the end of shading.

The last one is a new one I've been using for smaller details and backgrounds. It's like Pencil R, but sketchier?? It comes in a pack of brushes, but the main (and only) one I use is called "10. Striker Pen".

When it comes to rendering, I kinda just fuck around until it looks good??? I honestly have no idea how to put how I draw into words, so here's a short time lapse from my latest drawing. (I now realize it's a bit fast, but you can sort of get the idea of what I'm doing???)

My tips would be to use purples, blues and dark pinks on a multiply layer for shading/shadows and using yellows and oranges on an add-glow layer for the lights.

But really, just mess around and test out different colours, layer types and pens till you get something that you like! That's what I've been doing for 3 years and look how far it's got me.

Martin is the kind of person who would try coming up with a ship name for him and Jon and fail so badly. I know some people have said that JonMartin is the best he could come up with, but I like to think he had MANY other awful ones like Simswood, Marathan, Jartin (one of my personal favorites) and many many more. He also 100% would write his name with Jon's last name and vise versa. Such a gay little man
