This show is my childhood. I grew up watching the 4kids version, which even today I think had the best voice actors and music.

It's also the main reason I learned to draw and write stories! It's the source of my very first oc, and I had my own novel of a fanfic of a made up season 5 after season 4 finished airing. It's long gone with the death of my first laptop, but I remember it fondly and I made dreamix before canon did. >:)

Even if I don't care for where the show went after season 4 when Nickelodeon got their grimmy mits on it, I still love the show and what it gave me throughout my childhood. Happy Anniversary Winx Club! :D

One thing I’ve noticed about science fiction as a genre, at least in book forms, is that I seem to have a really hard time finding one that suits my particular niche or interest. It sort of seems like they all tends to follow the formatting of predecessors and fit into neat little categories, when I feel like SO much more could be done/explored (little tangent inbound)

Recently I took a trip to a book store in my area in an attempt to find new reading material (I am getting back into proper tangible reading after what feels like so long) and I couldn’t help but be unimpressed by the sci-fi section? It’s very likely I don’t know where to look, I do get real overwhelmed when I see so many options in front of me. But it was like,

- book about space revolution

- book about apocalyptic earth

- book about space revolution (but mc is a spy this time)

- dune

- book about space: romance edition (or straight up smut)

- dune but this time it gets an entire shelf

Obviously nothing wrong with any of these, of course, but knowing what I like, it was pretty rough trying to find anything within my realm of interest. The current media that has piqued my interest is a LOT of speculative biology, exoplanets, world building and exploration to like, REALLY immerse into, yknow? I’m talking Scavengers Reign, All Tomorrows, shit even South Scrimshaw or Subnautica take up my brain space on the daily. I love alien worlds and robotics and the effects they’d have on humans. It’s SO fascinating.

Please for the love of anything, I just need good sci fi book recs, or media recs or anything- I am starved, and it will be a long long time before my personal sci fi project is finished (though I will post about it more soon)

I did the fun color palette challenge thing that everyone on tik tok is doing, but since I don’t post there I figured I’d post here! Did this with @theroboticscientist using heart; one of our other robot bros HCJCNDN !!

I finished super early and I’ve genuinely never done a color palette challenge/prompt thing so this is all very new to me- plus it gave me an excuse to draw my husband in that embroidered heart shirt I kept seeing everywhere,, I like to think his buddy Els got him all dolled up because tee hee they make me clinically insane

Flip City Timeline:

For a while I've been trying to reboot the Flip City AU storyline. In my previous attempts to simplify it, I only made it more complicated, so it went through a few iterations before I could get it right. Now here is my (hopefully) definitive version of the timeline I'd like to share with you:

1990 Sometime after the events of Ghostbusters 2, most of the psychomagnitheric slime under New York was flowing with positive energy, but all the "bad vibes" had to go somewhere... The remaining negative energy sunk deep into the earth and created an interdimensional rift. From this rift, a pocket dimension that mirrored the world above was created.

1993 (July) A few people went missing. At first it didn't seem like a supernatural occurrence, better to let the police handle it. Then more people went missing, and the disappearances all seemed connected to the same phenomena: a swirling green vortex. The Ghostbusters were called to investigate. What they found was a portal to another world where they had to confront twisted versions of themselves to save the innocent people who'd fallen in. Attempts to reason with the so-called "Peoplebusters" were futile, as their doppelgängers were convinced they were heroes doing the right thing. The Ghostbusters had no choice but to escape and seal the portal to the "Flip City" behind them. (Essentially the plot of the original cartoon episode, but Winston and Flip! Winston would be more involved.)

1993 (August) The rescue mission was a success, but the victims suffered amnesia from their time in the Peoplebusters containment unit. People had a hard time believing the story and the families of the victims didn't want the publicity. This did not help the Ghostbusters reputation. Ghost activity went down at this point and it started to feel as if they'd been "too good" at their job. Meanwhile, the Flip Side began to deteriorate. Without captive human souls to feed on, the doppelgängers wasted away. The world slowly fell apart despite Flip Egon's best efforts to keep it stable. The best he could do was create a device that would hold their kind in suspended animation. The doppelgängers entered a dormant state.

2021 (June) After Gozer was finally defeated in Summerville, a power vacuum was left wide open. Now spectral rifts appear everywhere and ghost activity rises. The Ghostbusters are back in business, but so are their counterparts. Being woken up from their 28 year slumber*, the Peoplebusters return to their grim work. Harvesting humans proves to be difficult now that they've become old and stiff, so Flip Egon decides to acquire some more help. After spying on Egon's grandchildren, he is inspired to create some grandkids of his own in the lab. Tremor and Phobia are born. Silent Film and Thirteen join shortly after.

2022 This is the point where "Afterlife the series" starts. The Peoplebusters are recurring villains who show up to cause trouble. Despite being equally matched, the Ghostbusters always thwart their evil schemes. Repeated failures cause some friction between Phobia and her grandfather, but their relationship gradually improves over the course of the show.

2024 This segment takes place after the events of the fourth film and would be a TV special. The Ghostbusters and the Peoplebusters are forced to make an unlikely alliance in order to fight a common enemy. A greedy corporation called Soultech is tampering with the rifts between worlds in order to use ghosts as an energy source. This threatens to destroy both worlds. After Soultech is stopped and the CEO is defeated, Flip City is stable. The Peoplebusters decide to focus their efforts on helping their fellow ghosts cross over and only hunting dangerous humans. They change their name to the "Ghost Guard".

*Note: In Afterlife, Mr. Grooberson says there hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years. This is not accurate, but the Peoplebusters were not known to the general public.
