I pity Gen Alpha bc I had sm opportunities to pluck flowers, make garlands, mix up diff things in nature, etc. and they’re just tearing it up in a high-end makeup store😭
the only reason why ten year old girls are destroying stupidly overpriced products at sephora to make “skincare smoothies” is because they aren’t being given access to a yard with a variety of mud, sticks, rocks, puddles, and old ceramic planters to make potions in. the children yearn for the apothecary

“Therefore because you trample on the poor and expect a grain tax from him, you will never live in the houses of cut stone you have built; you will never drink the wine from the lush vineyards you have planted. For I know your crimes are many and your sins innumerable. They oppress the righteous, take a bribe, and deprive the poor of justice at the gates.”
—Amos 5:11-12 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
(I simply Googled verses about exploitation and came across this. It kinda slaps lol)
to all the school superintendents and government officials collecting fat checks whilst making teachers, staff and students still go to school in these freezing temperatures: ye shall burn in hell for for your disdain of the working and of the poor, for God does not love those who are not gentle towards the fragile !

For this reason I can’t stand when ppl tell me to not be angry bc (aside from hating being told what to do) it’s crazy that mfs don’t want me to be self-aware bc the emotion “isn’t good”
Been thinking about how anger is actually a tool for finding clarity and every time I thought or someone else told me I had an anger problem / was angry for no reason I’m looking back now and going yeah, of course I was angry

Just finished Chapter 33 in Sense and Sensibility. John Dashwood has hella audacity bc he tells Elinor about his concerns for her and their sisters’ ability to marry well but emphasizes their lack of fortune as if that isn’t literally HIS fault. He was out here building greenhouses and buying an extra home instead fulfilling his father’s death wish to help his sisters and his stepmom to the best of his ability🙄

New 2024 challenge: ex-xtians work on unpacking your xtian biases and stop getting offended when ppl point out that you have the mind of someone who was raised in the church or a xtian hegemonic society
Seeing the outspoken atheist anger about being called culturally Christian while most of the ex-Christian atheists I know (online and offline) haven’t unpacked the ways in which Christianity and being part of the hegemonic religion shaped their worldview is so funny to me.
You replaced the word devil with the word church. Congrats! That’s a good first step, but you can’t just end there.
Now it’s time to unpack why you’re deciding that minority religions are the same as Christianity. Now it’s time to unpack why you believe that thinking something is a crime, even if it’s not acted upon. Now it’s time to unpack why you think that everyone needs to believe the same thing as you. Now it’s time to unpack why you think that religion is even a useful classification. Now it’s time to unpack why you believe in punitive justice. Now it’s time to unpack why you think that argument is always antagonistic. Now it’s time to unpack why you think that humanity is irredeemable.
Christianity shapes so many aspects of my worldview as an observant Jew because it’s the water in which I swim. The Christian secular may seem like the default when you’re coming at it from observant Christianity, but it’s not neutral. None of its assumptions are neutral. And if you’re actually committed to claiming you’re no longer Christian, you need to do that work. Because otherwise you’re just a Christian with atheist dressing.

So, uh, now that someone fired a gun outside of a Jewish synagogue and preschool (that was in session) here in the U.S., is now the time we can talk about rising antisemitism on the left in the U.S.?
Because here’s the thing: American Jews have been trying to raise the issue. Over and over and over. And repeatedly we’ve been told we are paranoid, that “real” leftists/progressives aren’t antisemitic, that our pointing out truly troubling language being used by those that identify as anti-Zionist or pro-Palestinian isnt a real issue but is us being secret Zionists and whining to distract from Israel’s wrongdoings…
Jews have been written off, ignored, silenced, and even threatened for bringing up the rising tide of leftist antisemitism and antisemitism in some pro-Palestinian activism. We’ve been told that it isn’t the time, that diasporic Jews’ concerns and fears can’t be addressed right now because of what is happening elsewhere, if, of course, they are even based on reality at all.
Now that shots have been fired outside an in-session Jewish preschool, rooms full of toddlers - not by a neo-Nazi, not by a white supremacist, not by a MAGA idiot, but by someone who shouted “free Palestine” - now can we talk about it?
I can speak only for myself, but I am not asking you not to care about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, I am not asking you to support the Israeli government. What I am asking you to do is include us in your activism, to listen to us when we tell you that some of the rhetoric being used on the left is dangerous to us, to believe us when we say that there is actual antisemitism on the left.
Because if now is not the time, I suspect that the only time will be when it is too late.

It disgusts me that by pure stroke of fate and birth, your life can be either really amazing and you never experience anything too terrible, or you can be someone for who life is suffering and struggle. Miserable ass planet, but I know there's a future on the otherside of this

I’m seeing similar behavior on CNN’s posts about Jews celebrating Hanukkah in private and not putting menorahs in their windows. The comments say stuff like:
“I’ve seen more horror these past 2 months than I’ve seen my entire life. Y’all can shove your candles wherever y’all want.”
“Brown people can’t choose to hide their skin color. Islamophobia is inescapable.”
“So sad to see poor Jewish people ALWAYS PLAYING G-DDAMN VICTIMS”
“How can I make genocide about me*”
Again, ppl keep missing the mark with concerns about antisemitism. It has been on the rise in the past 4-5 years regardless of Israel-Palestine news. Only 2 ppl CNN interviewed mentioned “the conflict” (to quote one of them). However, as CNN starts balancing their coverage of the region and anchors like Jake Tapper grow more skeptical of the IDF, y’all want to say they are one-sided in their coverage. Y’all also wanna be hostile towards Jews for being scared to be Jewish. As if the shit going on in Gaza doesn’t affect Jews all over the world in terms of their safety.
As someone who wants to be more aware of Palestine, I cannot stand this behavior on socials because you need to give that energy to a media post that has more bias towards Israel or go on politicians’ socials with demands for a ceasefire. I’m so sorry for anyone celebrating Hanukkah after seeing all this.
Not the Washington Post posting a commemoratory post for the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting and the comments are full of ppl saying things like:
“Why is this being brought up when there’s genocide in Palestine?”
“11? Let’s talk about the 11,000 at the hands of Israelis”
“11 people died there that sucks. What sucks more? 10000 dead Palestinians and counting.”
“Remember when Kanye told us the media was owned by you know who? Well…”
It’s so sick to me that ppl are posting these comments when journalists have been honoring the Tree of Life Synagogue and their dead every year since the shooting and no one was commenting about freeing Palestine or the murders Israel/Netanyahu commits. But now that we’re witnessing attacks on Gaza, we can’t mark the 5 year anniversary of a hate-crime shooting? If it was another ethnic or religious minority, I feel like no one would comment such things. And ppl have the audacity to get mad when others accuse them of antisemitism. It’s scary to see how some ppl refuse to hold compassion for 2 communities at once in the name of Palestinian liberation. There’s nothing wrong with spreading awareness about Palestine but spread it in the comments of the Washington Post’s updates on Israel or in the comments of U.S. politicians who hate Palestinians/Arabs/Muslims. The only thing we know about Tree of Life is that it’s a synagogue—a place of connection for Jewish ppl—so it’s crazy that folks wanna act like there’s a Zionist agenda to honoring lives that were lost and disrupted.
