My headcanons regarding characters and their sexualities may be ever changing but Kaede will forever be Bi in my heart

#lots of my headcanons have changed after goin through the game like three more times this past year lol #for example I see Kokichi more as ace now (homo or pan romantic wise) since I feel itfit more looking at how he acts in game #demi works too tho I suppose lol (either way the colors on the flag fit him perfectly!)#Angie I like to think of as pan all around - it just fits her to me #Kaede will forever be bi but so are all the protags (Komaru included!) in my heart lol #and so on and so forth #idk I’m in a “wow ive changed my mind on things a bunch” mood and also in a headcanon mood #im up for people disagreeing tho feel free to! Also to everyone saying Kokichi is both - I agree! (Tumblr is just being dumb and not letting me reply :/)

What I meant in this post is that he’s not just a character with childish tendencies, and that his more serious, intellectual side is the one being more actively hidden. It doesn’t diminish the fun loving side, I’m just saying that the serious side exists in a manner similar to how the really intricate drawing of the bugvac exists among the sea of childish doodles. Those doodles are there, but so is the blueprint.

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion type of deal, but I think Kokichi’s actually a really serious character and that the in detail, meticulous blueprints are more in line with who he really is and that his playful, childish drawings are what cover that intellect and poise.

I like “gremlin clown Kokichi”as a joke and all, and it can be cute to see, but I really enjoy the idea that he’s much more distinct than just being a leader of pranksters (tbh I think DICE is more than that too) and that everything he does is done for a reason haha.

Totally fine with other people’s interpretations though! I just like my analyzing, serious Kokichi who’s really good at acting more since I personally feel like it is more in line with the way he is presented in game.

I agree, and I'd like to say I think it's worth putting out there that regardless of Saihara's (very repetitive) insistence that 'you're lying about this aren't you', that Ouma was being serious about the evil organization's existence, that doesn't mean he himself owns it. The common sense speech to Kaede is in parallel to Byakuya's, an heir whose family could one day rule the world, while Ouma is noted to be like a king, and you're supposed to take Byakuya 100% seriously...

[Bottom line: DICE’s existence doesn’t change the fact that an underworld organization behind the scenes has been important information since day ONE of this franchise, and we don’t know what Ouma’s been through so it’s absolutely wrong to say that he’s just lying about it all especially when much of the Ultimates - Saihara especially, being a detective - have a means to be connected to said organization and may have been corrupted in their missing memories (2/2)]

Tbh I always took note of that particular parallel between Byakuya and Kokichi’s speeches (and they’re right too - basing your perception on your own common sense and not bothering to look at things in a different way can impede your understanding of others and the situation you’re in), and it’s nice to see it brought up!

As for the organization, yeah I think it’s absolutely possible that the organization exists, and that it could be a point of connection among the characters. I don’t know if it’s true, or what exactly the organization is, or whether it’s ever gonna be relevant even, but I like the idea of it! Nice thoughts!

Aaaa thank you so much! I agree, Maki and Ouma having a connection from before the killing game even starts is so good, and there's so much potential there.I'm really glad you liked my writing! I'm not much of a writer - I've only ever written a handful of fanfics in my life and I don't think I finished any of them, but I'm happy to hear that you liked it!

So I've been thinking lately of like, a canon divergence or AU or whatever, that leads to the cast being essentially handcuffed or bound or just stuck with one other person. And I know this has been done to death, but one interesting combo I haven't seen yet is Kokichi and Maki. Once I started thinking about it I couldn't stop - hell I may even end up making a short excerpt of a specific scene I have in mind between the two of them, because with how much the two hate each other and my own headcanons abound it's a really fun scenario to me.

I don't know how everyone else is paired up, I just wanted these two stuck together because I'm weak for their interactions and how for as much as they may deny it, they do share many similarities.

Quick little writing of what I'm thinking of, two parts that are completely separate, the second one ended up being much longer lol, it's just a headcanon that I'm attached to, and I'm no author so it's more of a base than anything else:

(EDIT: Sorry for any weird formatting errors on Mobile, trust me there are two separate scenes below, one starting with “Do you wanna die.” and the other starting with "That's real fucking rich.” Sorry about that!)

"Do you wanna die." Maki spat more than questioned, eyes narrowed and face severe.

This didn't seem to deter Kokichi however, as he merely grinned cheekily in response, "You'd like that, huh? Well, unfortunately for you-" he held up his fist, and as a result, hers as well, "that's not exactly much of an option for you right now, is it?"

Maki grit her teeth, nails biting into the palms of her hands. 'Why' her voice echoed through her mind, 'did I have to be stuck with HIM?'

"If it makes you feel better, I don't wanna be stuck with you either," Kokichi continued, an unneeded answer to her thoughts, "After all, there's not much worse you could get than being forced to be with a heartless killer and all."

"Shut up." She bit back reflexively. Truthfully, she had stopped being affected by such comments a long, long time ago, especially from assholes like Kokichi who she knew was saying these things purely to rile her up. There was something about this situation though, the frustration and lack of any escape route cornering her and making her feel the need to lash out.

Unfortunately for her, Kokichi seemed to pick up on this, "Oooh, someone's more prickly than usual, huh? You angry now that the space idiot isn't around for you to use as a morality pet?"

"I said, shut up. I'm not going to entertain your bullshit." Then, just to spite him and allow herself a bit of childish revenge, she aruptly began to walk away, taking as long strides as she could and feeling a bit of satisfaction as Kokichi squawked and tripped over himself attempting to keep up as he was tugged along.

"That's real fucking rich, coming from someone who became an assassin!"

"I didn't have a choice!"

"There is always a choice! You agreed to do this!!"

"How do you even know?! Were you listening in when I told Kaito and Shuichi-"

"Mayu."

She stared at him, the icy inferno of her eyes going out in one fell swoop. "What?" She croaked, her voice tight in her throat, because how- how did-

How did Kokichi know that name?

"You did it for her." He ground out, "You decided to take the option of killing away from her and do it yourself."

She wanted to say something, anything back, but she was still reeling, still questioning, how? How? How?

Kokichi continued, ignoring her shocked silence, "Not surprised you don't remember me, you always did hang around the younger kids more than your peers aside from Mayu. It's not like I stayed there most of the time, either."

Maki racked her brain, searching desperately for any semblance of memory, to either prove that what Kokichi was saying was a lie, or-

"You're from...the orphanage?"

"I've technically lived there, if that's what you mean. I was a bit different from my current plucky self though!"

With that detail given, a memory surfaced in Maki's head, an old one from a time before she lost so much of herself, back when she still could be considered human. A small figure with long, scruffy black hair and dull lilac eyes that she's seen only a handful of times before, trading glances with her for but a moment before the figure slipped out a window and into the night. She wasn't responsible for the discipline in the orphanage, so she thought nothing of it at the time, but now...

What was she supposed to think? She couldn't even get away to be alone and process this information, still being stuck with Kokichi like she was. She felt trapped, cornered, the emotional intensity of their earlier fight leaving her terrifyingly vulnerable, and the whiplash she received over hearing a name that hasn't been spoken in years left a crack in her mask.

Even if a miniscule part in her was almost relieved to find a connection to a better time in her past, this was still Kokichi, an awful, distrustful brat who was more than willing to deliberately antagonize her to get a reaction, who hated her for her profession and announced it to the rest of their classmates without her consent.

'Wait...'

"I've known Maki's true identity all along!"

She'd thought it was a bluff at the time, another lie to add to his repertoire, and that he'd just learned it from her motive video the same way Hoshi did.

But with this new knowledge, she realized that she had been mistaken.

"You really knew who I was all along, didn't you?" She asked, voice raspy from her earlier shouting, throat unused to such volumes.

He grinned at her, sharp and dark, and said nothing.

So there we have it! I don't know if anyone has done this yet with Maki and Kokichi specifically, as I know there's many "stuck together fics" (most are romantic while this is purely platonic) and I know I'm not the only one who likes to headcanon Maki and Kokichi knowing/knowing of each other before the game, especially headcanoning them being from the same orphanage. If someone has done this, then wow how did I miss that. If not, well then here ya go all seven other people who really like Maki and Kokichi's dynamic!

Hope this is a cool concept to anyone!

Hey-o, not dead just busy! Anyway, something that has been on my mind for a bit and I thought was a cool little headcanon thing to think about was how many of the V3 cast can speak another language.

Personally, I like to think that Kaito, Korekiyo, Rantaro, Kirumi, Kokichi, Kaede, Gonta, Miu, Keebo, Angie, and Ryoma all can speak more than one language.

Which is most of the cast, I know.

I’ll go over all the reasons WHY I think this is the case below:

-Kaito: For Kaito, he pretty much says it himself, and being the Ultimate Astronaut, of course he’ll have to know more than one language. I love it whenever people bring up how he can speak more than one language, because the guy is much smarter than people give him credit for!

-Korekiyo: This is another no brainer to be honest. He is well traveled and the Ultimate Anthropologist, of COURSE he’d know a lot of languages, as language is one of the most interesting parts of human behavior, which he is all about. There were so many books present in his lab, he seems very smart, he loves humans and everything to do with them...yeah it’s pretty certain to me that he would be able to speak more than one language.

-Rantaro: Like Kork, he is very well traveled, literally the Ultimate Adventurer, so he’s probably used to learning the languages of places he travels to, as one of the best parts of adventuring is being able to interact with people and learning more about the areas you go to.

-Kirumi: A good maid has to understand any orders given, which is how I’d imagine Kirumi would view it since she takes her job so seriously. It makes sense that whenever she gets work with someone who doesn’t speak a language she knows she would do her best to learn that language.

-Kokichi: I personally believe he can speak multiple languages for multiple reasons. One, he makes references to different languages in text, normally jokingly but it’s still there, and he lists many language variations of the phrase “common sense” which he spouts to Kaede. Also, and here’s the big one that most people seem to sleep on, he is literally said to travel the world over with his prank squad, so like with Kork and Rantz, he’s bound to pick up a thing or two, especially since I believe he’d have to take more underground routes over the world than legitimate travel systems.

-Kaede: Language of music totally counts as a different language, fight me. No, but on a more serious note, I believe that she’d take it on herself to know at least some other languages such as German due to the amount of composers and pianists there. I don’t know if she’d speak too many languages, as I think she mentioned once that she traveled somewhere but the someone didn’t know good enough Japanese to really speak with her. but I think she knows enough to get around. Plus, again, she is pretty well traveled, and I know this doesn’t always equate to knowing languages fluently, but you gotta pick up some shit if you travel enough and have to interact with people who don’t speak your language multiple times.

-Gonta: I don’t know if he can speak too many, but I’m pretty sure the language his reptile family speaks, the language of animals, the language of bugs, and Japanese all count. This has nothing to do with languages, but he’s way smarter than people give him credit for, believe in him.

-Miu: Okay, like I said with Kaede in that music is a language, programming is absolutely a language as well. And like Gonta and Kaito, she’s a lot smarter than people assume, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she also knew English at the very least.

-Keebo: He’s a robot. He can literally download a langauge.

-Angie: She comes from an island that’s not Japan, so I’m assuming she can speak the language of her island as well as Japanese.

-Ryoma: He, like many people on this list before him, has traveled to many different places and even had a girlfriend from America, so at the very least I’d like to think he learned English, and again, when you travel to places often enough, you’re bound to pick some things up at least, enough to get around, though I dunno if he’d have more or less due to the nature of his visits maybe pretty much solely centering on tennis and then leaving - dunno if he did any sightseeing while he was around.

And that’s everyone who I think knows at least one language other than Japanese! This was completely self-indulgent and completely useless, but it was fun at least! I missed talking about DRV3, and while I may not have the time for much art lately, I do have time to talk about the series so feel free to ask any questions or whatever because I’m in the analysis/headcanon mood haha.

Anyway, I wanted to draw Kaemaki, and by god did I draw it. I have no idea if this concept has been done before (it probably has) but in any case this was fun to draw! (I actually didn’t think ahead as to what I wanted Maki’s hair to end up being so now her hair looks like a weird cross between Makoto Nijima’s and Uraraka Ochako’s.)

Fun fact: I was actually torn between making this romantic Kaede and Maki or making it platonic Shuichi and Maki. In the end I went with Kaemaki, but I gotta do something with Shuichi and Maki’s friendship at some point, because it deserves more love.
