I always think back to fondly to episode 10 of YOI and how up to that point the whole fandom was speculating about Victor’s motivations. Was he just using Yuuri to get his inspiration back or revitalize his own career? Was he terminally ill and couldn’t skate competitively anymore and was living vicariously through Yuuri? Why was he really doing all this?

And the episode 10 hits and it turns out nah, Victor doesn’t have some hidden agenda or dark secret, he’s just the world’s biggest lovesick puppy who fell in love with a drunk guy who danced with him at a party and then never called him back and left him pining for 6 months until he saw a YouTube video of his dream boy doing his routine and obviously this is destiny calling him to drop his highly successful career to chase after True Love because Victor Nikiforov wants to live his life like a romcom protagonist.

okay so I haven't rewatch this show at all in the past 3+ years because I'm a coward and you know what?? it's so much better than I remembered

I'm also fascinated by how realising I'm super queer changed my perception of the main relationship? I was watching it like I FORGOT IT WAS SO FREAKING GAY OMG WHAT?? don't get me wrong, I always knew it's canon but watching it now has made me go GAY every five seconds

also the whole thing with gender ambiguity?? the realisation that Victor isn't weird in the first episodes, he's just 100% sure that Yuri is attracted to him and just shy?? his disappointment when he starts realizing whatever that was on the banquet Yuri is just weirded out by him now? the constant questions about girlfriends, I'm screaming. "your boyfriend then" and Yuri has no idea what's going on. but then. the whole "he meets me where I am".

and then omfg Chris is so so gay I cannot believe I was calling it a headcanon four years ago. Chris is gay married to the handsome brunette and also I would bet my money that him and Victor hook up when they were teens. at least some very intense making out happened, at least twice, no I will not elaborate

also?? I would die for Yurio? he's just... so young and so precious. and Victor is such a smooth caring bastard to go and rile him up so he wins just to keep Yuri skating. I love it!!

and have I mentioned the gay. like, I legit forgot that Victor straight up says "we'll get married when he wins gold" nothing in this show is subtext, it's all plain text and so beautiful and real too.

also this show censors a kiss but still manages to make a whole point about sexual love? redoing this whole stereotype about asian men being asexual without falling onto another end of the spectrum? how in ever loving fuck. this is such a labor of love

and speaking of love, this show is just so full of it. it's just spilling out of every frame. this show is about Love and it's not even trying to be subtle about it.

I don't think my friends are ready for "Kasia only speaks about yuri on ice 2.0" but too bad for them I guess (but maybe they will appreciate a break from "Kasia only speaks about CQL and learning Chinese")

i don’t know why i didn’t realise this before but everyone in yuri on ice is an unreliable narrator. every single character. 

yuuri sees himself as a dime a dozen skater when he’s extremely talented.

yurio sees himself as this desperate person running out of time that everyone is against when he’s just a child beginning his career that everyone (ESPECIALLY yuuri) is rooting for. 

victor thinks everyone is bored of him when everyone (from the skaters to the audience) is honestly a little bit in love still and desperately want him back on the ice. 

JJ thinks everyone looks down on him for being trained by his parents or w/e but they’re just like ‘he’s a great skater but on god he’s annoying’

they’re all walking talking imposter syndromes, it’s just that they look normal when compared with yuuri anxious-mess katsuki
