Hi !! I didn't know much about Knight of the cart before reading your posts and now I'm really interested in it !!

Can you tell me about your favourite bits of the book or about Lancelot and Guinevere?? Lancelot seems very very romantic and I'm loving it !!

My Arthurian posts are — statistically — my least popular ones, so it's gratifying to hear someone's enjoying them.

When you look up papers on The Knight of the Cart, you'll likely find someone remarking on how Lancelot is portrayed as both ridiculous and romantic. I find it interesting that this is noteworthy. Coming from my background, it's completely unremarkable. In fanfic this is standard practice — of course we make fun of our characters and still portray them as legitimate love interests.

Lancelot is an incorrigible himbo. He is always doing dramatic, out of pocket shit, and he's also so down-bad for Guinevere it's comedic. For example:

saw Guinevere through a window, and tried to commit suicide when she passed out of view.

was so zoned out thinking about Guinevere that he didn't hear this dude yelling at him, so they get into a fight.

found a lock of Guinevere's hair and almost passed out, then started treating it like a holy relic

fought a dual while angling himself so that he could constantly see Guinevere in the tower above and draw strength from the sight of her.

My favorite bit... absolute favorite is a big question, but one favorite which comes to mind immediately is when Lancelot and Guinevere have sex and there's this consummation imagery of bloodstained sheets, but it's gender flipped. Guinevere isn't a virgin (she's married to Arthur) and Lancelot is the one bleeding (cut his finger climbing through the window to come into her bedroom).

also there's this super cute moment in the beginning when Lancelot is out of town and Gwen is being abducted and she's bitching to herself like, "if my man Lancelot was here, this would never be happening."
