Occupant suspected of killing civilians in Bucha "adopted" a child from Ukraine
russian media report that the parents of a 7-year-old boy were allegedly killed in Donetsk region, and he and other children were allegedly taken out of the shelling in 2022.
Before being "adopted," the child lived in the Velikolutsk orphanage in the Pskov region. After the boy was placed in the occupiers' family, he was immediately sent to a "correctional school to catch up on his knowledge."
The name of the occupier who "adopted" the boy from Ukraine is Viktor Filonov. Russian propaganda has already stated that he plans to raise the boy to be a "patriot of Russia."

You wanna talk about settler colonialism? Talk about this:
During the two-year occupation of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region, Russia has brought over 100,000 of its citizens into the city
(Svidomi)
100k people in 1 (one) occupied city. I'm not talking about Mariupol, I'm not talking about Crimea, or Donetsk, Luhansk. It's just Melitopol, it's just the last two years.

the two sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are NOT Israel and Palestine— it is those who are open to working toward peaceful coexistence in the region, and those whose extremist beliefs and actions contribute to perpetual violence
it is worth asking yourself whether your activism is functioning to amplify and support the peaceful coexistence people, or the perpetual violence people
to be clear, there is absolutely room for vocal protest and activism in this paradigm; it is a necessity
but you need to understand that the total vilification, and therefore dehumanization, of one people or the other will only dig this hole of horror deeper
and if you are only able to perceive the existence of extremism among Jewish Israelis or among Palestinians, but not both, or if you are only able to empathize with the collective narrative of one people, but not the other, then I don’t know what to tell you, except that you have lost your way and have become a tool for those who would perpetuate violence

the russians shelled Ukrainian hospital during surgery. what is it, if not genocide and terrorism? Europe and the United States must recognize russia as a terrorist state!
don't be silent about russia's crimes, please continue to support Ukraine! don't let your politicians betray Ukraine, Ukraine needs help to defeat russia. real help that the USA and Europe are obliged to provide us according to the agreements.

really America. we are scraping the bottom of the barrel. you're telling me there are no people in the United States that are better than trump and Biden? really??
there are better Republicans than trump. those that aren't a threat to democracy. pretty much anyone is better than him.
so many people have allowed themselves to be bamboozled.
I would say we need someone to swoop in and save us, but that's a situation ripe for exploitation. it's what trump is claiming to do.
if only there was someone with integrity that wouldn't exploit people's grievances-- at the very least, someone who doesn't support insurrection and gaining power at all costs, including breaking our democracy.

“In this essay, I address the anti-Constitutional discourse that appears in the media: that the Constitution should be displaced by the fears of people who appear on television. This form of opposition to the Constitution poses as expertise. It takes the form of advice to the Court: find some way to allow Trump to be on the ballot, because otherwise people will be upset. Because we are used to hearing endless conversations about politics on television, where everyone seems to be a political advisor, it can seem normal to reduce sections of the Constitution to talking points. But we must pause and consider. In fact, rejecting the legal order in favor of what seems to be politically safe at a given moment is just about the most dangerous move that can be made. It amounts to advocating that we shift from constitutional government to an insurrectionary regime. Indeed, it amounts to participating in that shift, while not taking responsibility for doing so. Let me try to spell this out. In advising the Court to keep Trump on the ballot, political commentators elevate their own fears about others’ resentment above the Constitution. But the very reason we have a Constitution is to handle fear and resentment. To become a public champion of your own own fears and others’ resentments is to support an insurrectionary regime. The purpose of the insurrection clause of the Constitution (the third section of the Fourteenth Amendment) is not to encourage insurrections! If we publicly say that that Supreme Court should disregard it because we fear insurrections, we are making insurrections more likely. We are telling Americans that to undermine constitutional rule they must only intimate that they might be violent. To advocate pitchfork rulings is to endorse regime change; to issue pitchfork rulings is to announce regime change.”
The Pitchfork Ruling - by Timothy Snyder
I’ve pushed fair use here, because I *really* want you to go read the rest of this essay.
