Friday, I’m In Love [Eddie Munson x Reader]
Title: Friday, I’m In Love Summary: Eddie Munson is a metal head and certainly does not like The Cure. Not even a little bit. Not even for you. Warnings: Smoking (cigs + pot), probably swearing, angst, jealously, fighting (angst because of a misunderstanding, with a happy ending) Request: Eddie x Goth!Reader, who likes The Cure (among other bands) and teases Eddie about being close minded when it comes to listening to goth music, and they bond over being weirdos/outcasts. Basically a timeline of Eddie and the readers relationship- first meeting, first fight, first break up
A/N: I’m aware The Cure didn’t release Friday I’m In Love until 1992, and Eddie is in high school in the mid 80s, but suspend some disbelief here because I just think this is a cute idea <3
A/N 2: Takes place a year before Upside Down stuff and Season 4

Eddie Munson~Friday, I'm In Love
Friday. Eddie fell in love with you on a Friday. He wasn't sure he even believed in love at first sight. Eddie was convinced that love at first sight was just a concept made up by Hollywood to sell cheesy romance films, but after he laid eyes on you, he was a changed man. He was a believer. The moment you walked down the hall way, he swore his heart stopped. You had glanced up at him, and he couldn't look away- even though he was sure you would notice he was staring.
      "Who is that?" Eddie asked, his gaze following you down the hallway until you're out of sight.
      "I think they're new," Jeff comments, looking towards the direction you'd just walked in, "I've definitely never seen them before."
      "I heard they just moved here," Gareth adds, agreeing.
      Eddie concluded that you much be new here because there was no way he could've ignored someone like you up until now, especially with the extra year under his belt. As a freak himself, he liked to look out for fellow outcasts- and you certainly fit that description. You were dressed in all black, clad in lace, velvet and even leather. To accompany that, you were styled with layers of necklaces, rings, and of course your large, goth hair. He loved the way you dressed. Although he wasn't into new wave himself, he could appreciate it. As a metal head, he lived all forms of alternative music. (Even if he thought Metallic was better than The Cure).
       "Hey, are you coming?" Gareth prompts, nudging Eddie.
       Eddie snaps out of his thoughts about you, and follows behind the Hell Fire members. He tries to stay focus- plan the next leg of the campaign, but all he can think of is you.
~~~
Friday. Eddie first talked to you on a Friday. Okay, so that wasn't technically true- it was more like you talked to him. He had been trying to work up the courage to talk to you for a whole week now, but every time he saw you, you were either just out of reach, or you had your walk man on fall blast so you couldn't even hear him. He didn't want to disturb you, or creep you out but... But, he couldn't get you out of his head.
      He had all but given up in trying to make contact. It tracked that as soon as he did, you approached him.
     "Uh hi," you murmur out, pulling your head phones down, "I heard your the guy to ask about extra curricular activities."
    Eddie's eyes widen as he realised who was talking to him.
   "I- Uh..."
    "Unless, I've got the wrong guy," you say, about to back away.
   "No! I am!" Eddie's brain finally snaps into action, "And, I'm guessing you're not talking about Dungeons and Dragons."
    "As fun as that game is, no," you smile.
    "Wait, you play?" Eddie stammers, "No way."
    "What?" you laugh, crossing your arms, "I thought as a fellow outcast, I'd fit your perfect stereotype for a D&D player."
     "I didn't mean it like that! I just... It's nice to have another player around."
    "I know, I'm just teasing you."
     "O-oh," Eddie blushes, looking down hoping to hide his red face from you.
    "So, have I come to the right guy? You're a dealer as well as the fearless leader of Hell Fire?" you prompt, reminding him of why you were originally here.
     "It seems my reputation proceeds me," Eddie smiles, "Yeah, you head right."
     "Good, that's good," before quickly adding, "Not that I'm just talking to you for that- I've actually been trying to talk to you this whole week."
     "You have?" Eddie replies, shocked.
    "Yeah, it'd be nice to have a friend around here. Especially a fellow freak," you nod, "It's just a bonus that you have bud. I'd like to sample your finest... Sorry, I never asked your name."
     "E-Eddie, it's Eddie," he replies, "I'm sure that can be arranged-"
     "-Y/N," you fill in, "Cool. Well, I'm guessing you don't do it out in the open of a school hall way, so just tell me the time and place and I'll be there."
     "It's a date- deal. I mean deal."
     "Of course," you tease him, "I'll see you around."
~~~
Friday. You'd ended up in Eddie's trailer on a Friday. He couldn't quite believe it, but he'd managed to persuade you to come to his. (In reality, you were more than happy to accompany Eddie to his trailer; in fact, you were kind of excited).
     "So, uh, this is me," Eddie says, gesturing his hands outwards to the trailer, "It's not much, but it's home."
      "It's nice," you smile, "You live alone?"
      "No, it's me and my uncle," Eddie explains, walking to his bedroom.
      You follow behind him, looking around at the decoration Eddie had around his trailer. You hum, staying quiet as he leads you into his room. It looks just as you thought it would- not that you'd spent a lot time imagining Eddie's bedroom... (You'd only briefly thought about it. Briefly). He has posters, and merch from his band. His room is messy, but it also seems like every thing had it's place. School work shoved to one side, Dungeons and Dragons to another, and of course his stash.
      "Nice guitar," you compliment, "Very rock star of you."
      "She's a beauty, isn't she?" Eddie smiles.
      "I'd love to hear you play sometime," you tell him, sitting down on his bed, "Do you guys play, yet?"
      "Uh, we're still kind of in our garage phase," Eddie scratches the back of his neck, "But, when we do play, you'll get complimentary tickets! Promise!"
      "I look forward to it," you giggle, laying back slightly.
      Eddie gets lost for a second looking at you. He let's the room go silent as he is far too distracted, and in awe of the fact you are here.
      "So, do you want me to roll, rock star?" you tease, "I have papers."
      "Oh, uh, yeah- I mean, I can roll if you want," he stutters, a blush covering his face.
      "I'll roll this one- and you roll the next?"
      "Planning on staying that long, princess?" he teases, trying to regain the upper hand again, "Can't get enough of me."
      "Oh, yeah- I'm a real groupie."
      You've been laying on Eddie's bed for... For who knows how long. You are both giggling, and talking about whatever pops into your head first. Eddie never thought that a random goth girl approaching him would land him here, with butterflies in his stomach. He looks over to you, and tries not to stare too much. Eddie finds a need to fill the silence.
     "So, what kind of music do you like? You can probably tell from all the posters what kind of music I like," he asks, looking to you.
      He listens intently as you list bands off, mostly new wave, some glam rock, some metal and punk.
      "And, The Cure."
      "The Cure?!" Eddie asks incredulously.
      "Yeah, The Cure," you stick up for yourself, "Robert Smith is a genius!"
      "He's some pretty boy in dark clothing!"
      "Maybe I like pretty boys," you retort.
      Eddie's heart flutters: in that moment, he really wanted to be a pretty boy.
~~~
Friday. Eddie took you out on a Friday. He has never been so excited in his life. Corroded Coffin had finally booked a gig- and this meant he had an excuse to ask you out- to finally ask you out. He'd been consistently spending more and more time with you since the semester started, and it felt like the words 'will you go out with me?' were on the tip of his tongue. His band mates had been teasing him relentlessly- calling him whipped, calling him a lost puppy, calling you his demonic, goth girl friend. Eddie couldn't bring himself to care; as much as he acted like he was annoyed, his heart secretly fluttered at the thought of you being his. Of him being yours.
       And, this was his opportunity to make it a reality.
      "Hey," Eddie greeted, a wide smile on his face, "Can I join you?"
      You shuffled over on the bench you were sitting on, making room for the metal head to sit beside you. After taking a drag from your cigarette, you smiled back at him. Without thinking, you put it to his lips, and he takes a drag. The way your eyes light up in approval sends sparks all over Eddie's body: he would do anything for your praise.
      "What's got you all excited?" you ask, taking a final inhale before stubbing it out the bench, "I'm guessing it wasn't the chemistry test?"
      "The test? No, no- not the test," Eddie glosses over, "I have big news!"
      "Do tell," you urge him, leaning closer in anticipation, always happy to play into Eddie's theatrics.
      "Corroded Coffin have their first show!" Eddie beams proudly.
      "Shut up!" you lightly slap his chest, "That's great news! I'm so proud of you, Eds. When is it?"
       Eddie begins to tell you all of the details, his heart beating faster as he takes note of how intensely you are listening to him. It is almost as if he has you in a trance. (If he was being honest, he couldn't imagine that he was ever interesting enough to have you this besotted- but he was more than happy to live in a dream world where that was the case).
       "That's so cool! I'll get a ticket!"
       "Actually, I... I already got you a ticket," Eddie confesses, "I wanted to... I wanted to ask if you'd like to go out with me? To the gig?"
        The seconds it takes for you to process what Eddie said feels like hours to him.
        You blush, "I'd love to."
        From that first concert, Eddie knew he wanted to be your boyfriend. One date lead to two, which lead to more, and after only a short few months you were finally together. It was bliss. Eddie thought you were practically perfect, and you enjoyed Eddie's company more than anyone else you'd ever met- even if he didn't like The Cure. (You were slowly changing that). It felt like you were floating on Cloud 9- until you weren't.
~~~
Friday. Eddie's life fell apart on a Friday. Eddie was on his way to see you with a new mix tape in hand. He had been making a new one for almost a month, carefully listening to songs he thought you'd like, as well as some of your favourites. Even the Cure. He had scrawled on the side of the mixtape the words 'Friday I'm In Love mix' after one of your favourites along with 'I love you' and a small heart. He made his way to your locker when a feeling in his stomach grew. A bad one. It felt like his stomach was sinking, a pit of anxiety began to grow. He saw a flash of your all black outfit, and for a brief second you made eye contact- only instead of being greeted with a smile, your eyes widened, and you quickly vacated the hallway. Eddie's brows knit together: what the hell just happened?
      Maybe it was a misunderstanding? A mistake? He was probably reading to much into it... Right? There was no way you were actually avoiding him. Yesterday, you had seemed just fine with him- better than fine. You were laughing and joking as normal. Eddie had even invited you around his trailer tonight, and you had agreed. Nothing had happened... Nothing Eddie was aware of.
      Except, you were aware of something.
      Something you didn't believe you could look past, something that made a whole in your heart open with insecurity and vulnerability. You had wanted to surprise Eddie with a new guitar pic attached to a necklace that you had made yourself when you witnessed something that broke your heart. You had approached yours and Eddie's spot in the woods where you thought he would be during his free period. Only, you hadn't found just him. Chrissy Cunningham. She was sitting in your spot on the bench, laughing along to something Eddie had said. He was loving the attention- who wouldn't get an ego boost from a pretty cheerleader laughing at their jokes? He hadn't told you he was dealing to her (he usually told you about everyone he sold to), so that could only mean one thing, right? Your breath caught in your throat and you ran.
     A rational part knew it was probably nothing. But, insecurities from previous relationships began to open up. Who were you kidding yourself? Chrissy was flirting with him, and he was doing nothing to stop her. You began to spiral. Eddie was only with you until he found someone better, someone normal. And, he had found the best, most normal girl in the whole school. She was perfect: you were just a freak.
     For the rest of the day, you avoided Eddie. You didn't mean to at first, but you knew you couldn't see him without crying. It wasn't fair to string him along- you were going to break up with him so he could be happy as soon as you worked up the courage to look him in the eyes. Only you couldn't find that courage. Or, maybe you wanted to live a little longer in the delusion that Eddie was yours, and that nothing was wrong: you wanted to live in a reality where your heart wasn't broken and where Eddie chose you over the perfect, blonde cheerleader.
      "Y/N! Y/N!" Eddie calls out from behind you.
      It was the end of school, and you could avoid him no longer. Your heart sinks, but you try to put on a brave face so you can get through this- hopefully without crying.
     "Hi," you respond quietly.
      "What's gotten into you? Why are you being like this?" Eddie asks, concern in his voice, "You haven't talked to me all day! Just admit you're mad at me."
      "Eddie..."
      He pouts, and his puppy dog eyes almost make you lose your nerve.
     "Talk to me, please," Eddie all but begs, taking your hand in his, "Tell me what's going on, tell me how I can fix it-"
     "-We... We're not working- I- I think we should break up," you confess, letting his hand go, and trying to move past him, "I should- I should go..."
    "Wait!" he stops you, his voice cracking and becoming emotional, "Where is this coming from?!"
     You try not to make eye contact with him, knowing it'll only make things harder.
     "I saw..." you take a deep breath, "I saw you with Chrissy. I saw you- how happy you were. I don't think- I don't think I've ever seen you so happy."
    "W-what? What are you talking about?"
   "The truth is that it doesn't matter if guys look like Jason Carver or Eddie Munson, they all want a Chrissy Cunningham," you sigh with a sad smile, "The truth is that no matter how much of a freak you claim to be- the minute that girl offers you a piece of normality, you'd jump for it- jump at it. You already have. I don't blame you. I want you to be happy."
       Eddie thinks back to the deal he had with Chrissy this morning, and he goes over every word of their conversation in his head. He was just friendly! He didn't think of Chrissy like that. He loved you! He was about to confess his love via mix tape to you- not her! Eddie felt as if his life was crumbling beneath him.
      "That's not true! You make me happy!"
      "Eddie don't make this harder than it has to be... You can go be happy now-"
      "You don't get to tell me what makes me happy!" Eddie snaps, becoming frustrated, "And what about you? You get plenty of attention that I don't care about- Even Jason looks at you-"
      You look flabbergasted, and you roll your eyes. Eddie regrets it as soon as he says it.
     "Jason looks at me?!" you ask, letting out a sarcastic laugh, "You want to know what those boys see when they look at me? A freak. A freak they bet each other to fuck. So, no Eddie, you laughing and flirting with Chrissy isn't the same as some Jocks objectifying me!"
     "I, I didn't mean it like that- Please, let me explain-"
    "-I think you've said enough," you reply, before moving past him, "I... I won't see you around."
~~~
Friday. Or was it a Tuesday? A Thursday? Eddie had lost track of the days. There was no point looking forward to any of the days without you. His heart was broken, and he felt like his happiness had gone. Eddie tried to enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons, or playing gigs, but it didn't feel right enjoying them without you. How had it all gone so wrong so fast? He just lost the best thing he ever had and he didn't even know how to fix it, or if he could fix it.
    "Eddie, Eds, you gotta eat," Wayne knocks on his bedroom door, before entering with a grilled cheese on a plate.
     Eddie looks over at him, but doesn't get out of bed.
    "I'm not hungry, Wayne," Eddie huffs, rolling over.
    Wayne wandered further into Eddie's room, before sitting on the edge of the bed. It killed him to see his nephew this depressed. Eddie didn't seem his usual self and Wayne needed to know why. At first, he had tried to give him space to work it through, but enough was enough. He wasn't good at emotional talks, but he couldn't watch him suffer any longer.
   "What's gotten into you?" Wayne asks, "You want me to call Y/N? Maybe they can cheer you up!"
     It was an innocent enough question, but it only made Eddie recede into himself more.
     "Y/N and I broke up..." Eddie sighs.
    "I'm... That's terrible. They seemed terrific."
    "They were!" Eddie cries, "They were perfect, and I ruined everything."
    "I'm sure it wasn't-"
    "-It was all my fault!" Eddie protests, "They saw me... Chrissy flirted with me- I liked the attention, and it's wrong and I was wrong and I'm so sorry. I did nothing to stop it. I... I just want them back."
     Eddie sounded so hopeless.
    "Tell them."
    "Wayne, it's not that simple," Eddie tries to protest.
   "Tell them, you have to try," Wayne puts his foot down, "Trust me, kid, you regret the things you don't say more than the things you do."
~~~
Friday. Eddie had to see you one last time on Friday. He didn't know where to look for you at first, but he knew that exams were coming up, and that meant one thing. When you were stressed, you smoked to calm down- you smoked in yours and Eddie's spot. Eddie thought it was a stupid idea to look for you there: you broke up with him. Why would you go to your spot? But, nonetheless, something told him to go there...
      Truth be told, you didn't know why you had come here. Yours and Eddie's spot. It was tainted with your memory of Chrissy here, of the break up, of the shitty last few weeks. But, you couldn't bring yourself to care. You needed this; you needed to be here. Some part of you wanted to be close to Eddie. Even though you broke up with him (broke his heart too), you still missed him. Every now and then, in moments of weakness, you hope that he misses you just as much as you miss him. You know it's probably not true, though. Since the break up, Eddie went on with his normal life- D&D, gigs, staring at pretty girls... You sigh. Why did you come here?
      Well, you were here now. You might as well smoke. You hold it between your lips and bring your lighter to it-
       "-Y/N?" Eddie asks.
        You freeze.
        "Eddie?" you murmur, eyes wide.
        "Hi," he says quietly, trying not to scare you off.
        "I can go," you say, going to get up, "This was your spot long before it was mine- I- I- I'll go somewhere else. Sorry to bother-"
         "-Please don't go," Eddie all but begs.
         You nod, and for some reason you stay.
         "Can I just... Can you listen for two minutes? Hear me out?" Eddie begs, "Then, I'll never bother you again?"
         You open your mouth, but close it again and nod.
         "I want to apologise for what I said- the comment about Jason was totally unnecessary! I'm sorry for not understanding what you were feeling, and I never meant to make you feel that way by talking to Chrissy. You were right- she was flirting with me, and I should've stopped dealing to her the moment that happened."
          'He was dealing to her?' you thought, 'So he hadn't just met up with her in your spot to be with her?'
          "I'm so sorry for everything that happened, and I need you to know I never meant to hurt you. I need to tell you that I lo-"
          "-Wait, stop," you interrupt.
           Eddie's heart sinks. You were going to cut him out of your life for good.
          "You don't need to apologise. I didn't... I didn't realise you were dealing to Chrissy," you confess, "I thought... I thought you had just brought her to our spot to flirt with her- like you flirted with me. And, the truth is that made me so insecure. I saw you having fun with her. How could I compete with Chrissy Cunningham? So... So I made the decision for you."
         Your eyes are glossy with tears at this point, and it takes everything inside of Eddie not to run to you, and take your in his arms.
         "I thought you would be happier with her. Without me. I'm sorry for yelling at you, Eddie," you murmur, "And, I don't blame you if you don't forgive me. I was a horrible, and jealous, and-"
         "-Stop," Eddie begs, "Don't talk about yourself like that."
         Your eyes widen.
         "You have no reason to be jealous of Chrissy," Eddie reassures, "I only have eyes for you. Do you want to know why I was dealing to Chrissy? It was so that I could get the money to buy more blank tapes. So, that I could make you this."
          Eddie steps closer and hands you a tape. Gently, you take it from him, and read over the title. 'Friday I'm In Love With You Mix.' Your eyes widen, and you feel even worse for breaking up with Eddie. You feel silly and stupid and-
          -Eddie's hand touches your own.
          "I can practically hear the cogs turning in your head," Eddie jokes, trying to lighten the mood.
          "Eddie, I'm so sorry... I..."
          "There's nothing to apologise for," he promises, "I should've told you about the deal with Chrissy beforehand, and shut down the flirting as soon as it happened-"
        "-And, I should've communicated with you about how I was feeling instead of breaking up..."
       "Next time you're feeling like that, tell me okay?"
        "Next time? You still want to be with me?"
         "I'm in love with you, Y/N," Eddie confesses, "Like, listen to multiple Cure songs and put them onto a tape in love with you."
          You giggle, and it is music to Eddie's ears. He has missed that sound.
          "I love you too."
          Your insecurities faded away, and you knew he was telling the truth: on the way home, lyrics from The Cure blasted out of his van's window... 'It's Friday, I'm in love...'
          Eddie didn't love The Cure, but he sure did love you.

Teacher’s Pet [Eddie Munson x Reader]
Title: Teacher's Pet Summary: You ask Eddie to teach you how to pay Dungeons and Dragons in order to impress a boy that you like. (Eddie just doesn't know that the boy in question is him). Warnings: Nothing ? (Mutual pining with a happy ending) Request: you ask eddie to teach you d&d under the premise that you want to impress a guy; he says yes in order to spend more time with you and he constantly tries to guess who the boy that you've got a crush on his (spoiler alert it's eddie)
Eddie Munson~Teacher's Pet
You couldn't help but stare at him. You don't want to- but, you do. Eddie Munson. You'd had a crush on the metal head for... For as long as you could remember. Eddie and yourself had crossed paths numerous times: he sat beside you in English, you went to the same middle school, you had mutual friends. And, yet you hadn't managed to say a thing to him about your huge and obvious crush you had on him. You hadn't managed to say much of anything to him, lately.
       "You know, you can go to speak to him," Robin chimes in, placing her lunch tray down and taking a seat beside you, "Or you know, you can stare at him forever."
       "Shut up Robin," you whine, "I can't just go up to him!"
       Robin rolls her eyes.
      "And, why not?" she asks, glancing towards you.
      "Because I don't even know what to say to him!" you insist, "What do I just say? Hi Eddie Munson I've been in love with you since middle school, let's run away together?"
       "Hmm maybe too subtle," Robin teases you.
       You groan.
       "This is hopeless," you profess, "I'm just going to never speak to him, graduate and move out of Hawkins. Perfect plan."
       "Or... Or you could ask him about that cult he runs!"
      "It's not a cult! They play a game," you insist, "It's called Dungeons and Dragons."
       "That's it! Ask him about that, then. Ask him to teach you how to play it," Robin plots, "That way you get to speak to him, and he gets to rant about hell...Hell Flame."
      "-Hell Fire," you correct.
      "See- you already care about his cult- club. You're off to a great start," she smiles.
      "You're ridiculous," you huff with a small smile, "But, you might be right."
      "I'm always right."
      "Whatever," you smile and push her lightly.
       And, yet, you can't stop thinking about what Robin had suggested. Even after lunch and into the next period, you mull over what she had said... I mean, it wasn't technically the worst idea- and if nothing else it meant you had a legitimate excuse for talking to Eddie. One where he might be too distracted with the topic of Dungeons and Dragons, that he was oblivious to your massive crush you had on him. You leave your class room, and your eyes widen as you see Eddie from across the hall. Well, it was worth a shot.
       "Hey, Eddie right?" you ask approaching him as he is just about to slam his locker closed.
       Eddie tries not to jump at the sound of a sweet voice beside him. He glances to you with a confused look on his face. His heart rate increases. You offer him a sweet smile, and he tries to not look too nervous. There was no way YOU were speaking to him right now. Eddie had a small (gigantic) crush on you ever since you were in the same class together in middle school, but he had yet to work up the courage to become more than acquaintances.
      "H-hi, yeah, hi," Eddie stutters out, "I mean, yeah I'm Eddie."
      You let out a small giggle, and Eddie curses himself. Did you come over to him just to make him nervous and embarrass him? Surely, you weren't that cruel... Eddie snaps out of it: no, he knew what you were here for.
      "I don't have anything on me at the moment, but I can meet you by the bench in the woods tomorrow-"
       "-Eddie, I'm not here to buy off of you," you smile, and then hesitate, "But, I do need your help."
       "My help?" Eddie asks, now even more lost than before: if you didn't want to buy, what could you possibly want?
       "You can totally say no to this by the way," you preface, "But I wondered if you could teach me how to play Dungeons and Dragons?"
       "Now, you're definitely just over here to tease me," Eddie rolls his eyes and fold his arms, "What? Pretty girl wants to learn how to play D&D? I don't buy it. Why now, huh? Hell Fire has been around for years and now you want to join? It doesn't-"
      "-I'm not teasing you," you insist, mortified that Eddie was getting annoyed at you, "Okay, I know I'm not the archetype of someone who plays Dungeons and Dragons, but the truth is I want to learn because I want to impress someone I like okay?"
      Fuck. You didn't know why you said that. He was definitely going to figure it out now.
      "Ooooh, Y/N has a little crush," Eddie smirks, dropping his annoyed expression and going back to a friendly demeanour, "A crush that likes D&D? Who is it?"
      "T-they don't go here," you snap, "And, yes he likes D&D- but if you're going to be like this then I can go ask Gareth to teach me-"
       "-No! No, it's fine. I'll teach you, don't be like that," Eddie halts you, "You want to learn from the best, right?"
      "What's your character name? Eddie the Humble?" you tease.
      "Ouch," Eddie feigns hurt, dramatically stumbling into his lockers, "You wound me."
      "I do apologise, my Liege," you say with just as much dramatic flare, "Are you free later? Pizza on me. Am I forgiven?"
      "You are forgiven. I am very easily swayed by flattery and bribery," Eddie replies, but pauses, "Your place or mine?"
      "My place works," you answer, scribbling your address down on the edge of your note book before ripping it and handing it to Eddie, "I have a free house. My parents are out of Hawkins for business, so no bed time for us."
      "Free pizza, Dungeons and Dragons, and no bed time? You really know a way to a mans' heart, sweetheart."
        "Shut up, Munson," you blush, "See you later. About 7."
        "It's a date."
         Your heart was beating so fast as you walk away from Eddie, and you can barely believe what had just happened. Eddie Munson was coming to your house. The Eddie Munson. If your middle school self you see you know, they would be screaming out of excitement. You have to call Robin- even if you would be met with a flurry of 'I told you so's, she deserved to know her plan had worked.
~~~
Eddie couldn't believe what had just happened. If it wasn't for the scrap of paper he held between his thumb and index finger, he would've definitely thought he dreamt it. He looked towards your figure, which was disappearing from his sight, then back towards your address. Eddie smiled. 1986 was definitely going to be his year.
        "Are we still on for practice later?"
        Eddie is that distracted by thoughts of you that he doesn't even realise that Gareth and the rest of Corroded Coffin had appeared behind him.
        "Huh?" Eddie asks, before his brain catches up, "Actually no. Gentlemen, I have different plans. Y/N and I-"
        "-Finally! You asked her out on a date," Gareth concluded.
       "Well no. No, not exactly," Eddie mutters, "But, they asked me to teach them how to play Dungeons and Dragons and I'm going to their place later. So no practice."
        "So she asked you?"
        "No! Yes- well, technically it's not even a date! You know what, I'm not even going to discuss this anymore- I've got to go freshen up."
        "For your date," Gareth teases.
        "Fuck you guys!" Eddie huffs, only half annoyed: in reality, he was too happy to be annoyed.
~~~
You laid on your bed, trying not to watch the minutes tick by. It was hard not to: the interaction you had with Eddie went perfectly, and so some part of you was beginning to suspect you had dreamt it and he was never coming. That was stupid. You were just over reacting. He was coming- he was definitely going to show up-
        The door bell rings.
        "Coming!" you say all but running down the stairs.
        You open the door and smile as you are greeted with Eddie, who has a book in one hand and a bag on his shoulder. He was going full teacher mode. You move aside so he can enter and direct him up the stairs to your bedroom.
       "Eddie," you smiled, "You made it."
       "Wouldn't miss it for the world, princess," he smiles back.
        Your heart all but flutters at the nickname.
       "First one on the left," you direct as you lock the door behind you and follow him upstairs.
        Eddie let out a low whistle as he entered your room. It wasn't what he was expecting. For some reason, he had pictured your room to be pink, full of frills and covered in cute decorations. And, teddy bears. Lots of teddy bears. Okay, so maybe he was just picturing a stereotypical girls room he'd seen in shows and movies, but he was surprised nonetheless when he took in what he saw. Posters: of bands he had actually heard of- and liked. Lots of decoration around- photos of your friends, bands you liked, you as a kid. And a teddy bear. Just one. Eddie looks to you with a smile.
        "You have such a cool room!" he exclaims, making himself at home on your bed, "No way! A judas priest poster!"
        You roll your eyes, "Don't act so surprised, Munson!"
        You take off your jacket, and he eyes the band t shirt that you're wearing.
        "And is that a Metallic t shirt? Wore it all for me?"
        "No, you ass hole," you jab back, sitting opposite him on the bed, "I just have good taste in music. Have you heard their new song 'Master of Puppets' yet?"
        "Heard it?!" Eddie exclaims, gesturing wildly with his hands, "I live and breathe it, sweetheart. I'm learning to play it! Almost got it down!"
        "Well, I have to hear it!" you encourage, "Next Dungeons and Dragons lesson is at yours!"
        "Inviting yourself round are we? Kind of forward," Eddie flirts, leaning in towards you, "You already want a second lesson? We haven't even had our first."
        You try not to give him the satisfaction of blushing.
        "Kind of eager," Eddie all but purrs.
        "Shut up!" you push back at him, gazing down at his hands where he was leisurely twirling one of his rings before looking back up at him, "You're just happy someone outside of Hell Fire wants to listen to you talk about this game!"
        Eddie breaks his gaze, and the tension lowers for a second.
        "You're not wrong," Eddie sighs dramatically, before adding, "And it does help that it's you..."
        It was your turn to tease him.
        "What does that mean?" you pester.
        "N-nothing!" Eddie gets flustered, losing his confidence as your stare at him, "Right! Dungeons and Dragons!"
         "Dungeons and Dragons."
~~~
Eddie watches you as you fill out your character sheet. He'd give you a run down of all the different types of characters you could be: their roles, their races, their traits. And, then instructed you to create your own character. As he watches you, his thoughts drifted back to why you had invited him here in the first place. You were learning this for a guy. Not him. Some guy. Eddie internally huffs; he'd been trying to get you to notice him for how long? And, now you were learning a whole fantasy realm for some guy. His thoughts spill over to his words.
       "So tell me more about your crush," Eddie says, twirling a strand of hair between his fingers.
       You look up at him, and are brought back to the white lie you had told Eddie to get him here.
      "I've been trying to guess, actually... I know you said he doesn't go to Hawkins, but I thought you might've said that just to throw me off the scent. I can rule a few people out," Eddie muses, "It's not Jason- he wouldn't be caught dead playing-"
     "-And Jason is not my type!" you object immediately, your attention completely leaving your character sheet, "Give me some credit. I don't like assholes like that!"
       Eddie puts his hands up in surrender.
      "What is your type then, sweetheart?"
       Your heart beats fast, and you feel like this is now or never. You'd only been crushing on Eddie since middle school. You could tell him. Rip it off like a bandage: just tell him. Just tell Eddie Munson you've been in love with him for yours. Your voice catches, but after a moment you speak.
      "I don't know... Uh, I like long hair. Good taste in music. Sweet. Makes me laugh. Brown eyes. Plays in a band," you take a pause, trying not to lose your nerve, "Named Eddie."
        Eddie's eyes widen.
        "I... What?"
         For once, Eddie is silent. This couldn't be real, could it? He'd only been in love with you since he was a young teen. Fuck. 'Tell her you love her! Tell her she's your type too!' Eddie's internal monologue screams. Say something- say anything. But, he couldn't. He lost his voice while he was processing your words, trying to decipher if what you said was a hallucination. Had he finally smoked too much? Your voice brings him from his thoughts.
        "The truth is... There is no guy," you confess, avoiding looking at Eddie, "Not really. Well, not another guy. You- you were the guy this whole time, and I just wanted to spend more time with you but I was too much of a coward to ask you out. So I, well Robin suggested it really... I asked you to teach me about D-"
       "-You like me?" Eddie interrupts, his eyes wide.
       "Yeah. Is that... Is that okay?" you swallow your words, glancing up at him.
       "Is that okay?" Eddie repeats, almost laughing at his and your obliviousness, "I've only had a crush on you since we were like twelve!"
      "Since middle school?!" you exclaim, "And you didn't say anything?"
      "Neither did you," he retorts.
      "Fair," you laugh out, not realising how close the two of you had gotten.
      "So... Uh-"
     "-Can I kiss you?" you interrupt.
     "Yes! I mean... Yes," Eddie rambles, only stopping when you press your lips to his.
     You pull Eddie closer to you, until you are basically in his lap. Eddie groans into you and his hands finds their way around your waist, and you in turn place your hand on the side of his face, before running it through his hair. God, you loved his hair. You wondered if he would let you pull on it.
     Gently, you lean back and look at him.
     "Hi," Eddie whispers.
    "Hi," you reply smiling.
    "So, how long have you been in love with me?"
    "Oh shut up," you giggle.
     Forever. You'd been in love with him forever.
Daryl Dixon~Nothing Special
Daryl tried to tell himself over, and over again that he didn't care: about you, about anyone. He had made it abundantly clear to the group that he was just here for the ride, and most of the reason he was sticking with you and the others was simply survival. At least, that's what he kept saying- maybe, if he repeated it enough times, he would believe it. Daryl would often remember the words that his brother said to him often: that no one else has his back, 'cept Merle.
       Lately, he had started to think maybe Merle was wrong. Maybe.
       Daryl had found himself speaking to you more and more, even if it was only a few words at a time, or very brief conversation. It... It was almost like he started to enjoy your company. Not that he'd ever say that you to. Though, you'd noticed. Not the depths of Dixon's affection, but certainly how he favoured your company over anyone else's. Okay, maybe favoured was too strong, but either way, Daryl tolerated you the most. You liked to think you were becoming fast friends.
      Ever since you had arrived at the farm, it felt like you had been spending more and time with Daryl, and maybe Daryl was even seeking your company out. Daryl had offered to teach you how to track- claimed it was just because he wanted to take the burden off him hunting all the food; truthfully, he never had a problem with that responsibility... He just wanted to see you more. Daryl had so far asked you to come on every hunting expedition up until then, and was even asking you on 'extra' ones. Though, if you ever mentioned anything about it, he would just claim it was because you needed to learn to be quieter, and not spook the animals.
      He'd been a little despondent since his efforts to find Carol's daughter, Sophia, had not been rewarded. And, with his most recent expedition leaving him bed bound and resting, he had been even more withdrawn. He had snapped at you earlier- and although he quickly regretted it, he had not had chance to apologise. He was too embarrassed to say anything even if he did get the chance.
     Besides, you'd probably never come back anyway... You were better off without him. Why would you want to be around him? He couldn't do anything right- couldn't find Sophia, couldn't work with the group... It was useless. It was only a matter of time before you left anyway, before you figured out he was no good. Daryl didn't want to believe it, but he was starting to think that Merle was right: no one else had his back. And, he couldn't have anyone else's. Not even when he wanted to; he'd just fuck it up, anyway.
     It'd just hurt if he let it go any further with you... Not that it would, anyway.
     Daryl dragged himself out of bed, towards the window. He cast his eyes down, and he perked up at the sight of you. Daryl hid a small smile on his face, which faded when he saw Shane approach you. Shane put his hand on your arm, and you don't push it away. (What he doesn't see his how your face changes when Shane puts his hands on you; and how you want to pull away but don't want to give Shane and excuse to be volatile- which he has been in increasing frequency lately). Daryl huffs and rolls his eyes.
    "Really? Him?" Daryl muses to himself.
    He wasn't- No, he couldn't be jealous. He wasn't jealous of Shane. You could do whatever you wanted- speak to whoever you like... Daryl couldn't control who you spent your time with. He knew that. Every logical part of him knew that. And, yet...
     "Fucking Shane," Daryl rolls his eyes again, and clambers back into bed, "Fucking bed rest."
     Daryl closes his eyes, and lays back against the head board. This was going to be a miserable few days recovering. But, at least he wasn't down there, watching you fall in love with Shane. Daryl mocks his name. Shane. What a douche. Daryl didn't like Shane from the start, for many reasons. He'd met guys like him before, especially with Merle's run in with the law. Men who let the power go to their heads. Men who have a hero complex. Men who have to do it their way. And, it sucked. He thought you knew better... Better than to choose Shane. Daryl huffed again.
      Jealous.
      Surely, it couldn't be. He didn't care. Nope, didn't care at all.
     And- and, even if he did: what was the point? You... You were far beyond him. Merle was in his head again. He had been in his head quite a lot, lately. Daryl recalls the first time he had ever seen you, and before he could even think it himself, the words that had left Merle's mouth.
~~~
Daryl and Merle were sitting on the edge of camp, as they often did. Just observing. Merle told Daryl they were going to rob that place blind when the camp let their guard down. Daryl didn't necessarily agree Merle all the time, but they were family. Blood. He had to stick beside him; he had to-
        His thought was interrupted by the sight of you walking into his eyeline.
       "Damnnnn who is that?" Merle asked, licking his lips, "Didn't know we had a fine piece of ass like that walking around. Maybe I should go and introduce myself."
      "Yeah right."
       Merle looks to Daryl, but ignores his stare. Daryl huffs, but doesn't say anything to stop his brother as he approaches you. He watches, as he always does, and feels a tingling emotion as he watches his brother interact with you. He didn't know if it was envy or disgust. He envied the way his brother, even after the end of the world, would still approach a pretty girl and try to charm her. Daryl couldn't even do that when the world wasn't falling to shit. But, he was also disgusted: mostly for you. No doubt whatever came out of Merle's mouth wouldn't be pleasant. Certainly wouldn't be respectful.
       Daryl tries not to smile as you rejected Merle. You have your arms crossed, your eye brow raised. Clearly, you were unimpressed. Merle curses, but Daryl doesn't hear exactly what, and his brother makes his way back over. Daryl hopes that, if he ever got the courage to approach you, for one: it wouldn't be like that, and that you wouldn't reject him.
      "What a bitch," Merle concludes.
      "Merle..."
      "What?" Merle rolls his eyes, "Girl like that: she thinks she's too good for me. For you. She probably going to end up with that fed over there. If he isn't already banging the one with the kid."
       Daryl continues to stare, trying not to be too obvious.
      "Stop making puppy dog eyes at her: didn't you hear what I said? She's too good for you."
~~~
Maybe Merle was right after all. Son of a bitch. He would probably enjoy that: being right one last time, being right about you. You were too good for Daryl, Daryl knew that much. You could have anyone you wanted- in the past world, and the new one. Why would you pick him? He was nothing special; you and him... You couldn't last, not even if he wanted it to.
      Fuck this.
     Why did he even care? Daryl was better off alone, anyway. Didn't need anyone, least of all you. It would only end in pain for him.
     Daryl is jolted from this thoughts by a knock at the door. Slowly, the door creaks open and he expects it to be one of the farmer's daughters. Instead, in their place, you are there. You smile at him and carefully bring the tray of food towards him. You place his water on his beside table before handing the food over to him. He takes it from you wordlessly.
      "I... Uh, I came to check in," you murmur, sitting on the very edge of the bed to disturb him as little as possible, "And, feed you, of course."
      Daryl nods.
      "How have you been? You feeling any better?" you ask, trying to catch his eyes, "What you did for Carol... That was so brave. She appreciates it a lot. I do. It's good... I feel safe knowing there is someone like you close by."
      "Someone like me?" Daryl scoffs.
      Your mouth goes dry: you hadn't expected him to be this standoffish. Not again. He had yelled at you before, but as soon as it occurred, Daryl looked extremely apologetic. And, you knew it was just because tempers' were high right now. It wasn't his fault; Daryl wasn't usually like this. What had gotten into him?
     "Yeah, a good man," you explain, "With everything going on... It's good to have you here. I'm glad you're here. Anyway... Tell me: how are you feeling? Are the meds helping? Can I do anything for you?"
     "Stop acting like you care."
     Daryl hates the way he snaps at you, but he is clouded by jealousy and insecurity. It hurt more to have you here, this close, and have you still not be his. Why were you acting like you cared about him? It would be easier if you just ran into Shane's arms, and never looked back. Why did you have to torture him like this? By being nice to him?
      "What?"
      "We ain't friends."
      "Don't say that," you whisper, "Daryl... I-"
     "-I don't care about you. You don't have to pretend to care about me. I don't want t' hear it. Leave me alone."
      You hesitate: frozen.
      "Just go! Go back to the others- to y' little boyfriend."
      Your heart breaks in that moment, and you stand up and leave the room. You don't look back, too scared that Daryl will see the tears that are streaming down your face. Why was he being like this? Why was he being so cruel? You feel stupid for crying, when the stakes are so much bigger that some mean words thrown your way, but you can't help but feel broken. You and Daryl were good not too long ago: you liked him... You really liked him.
     What had changed?
~~~
Daryl hated doing that, but he knew it was for the best. What good was keeping your friendship going when it was just giving him false hope that you could be something more? It wasn't fair. For either of you. Now, you could go be happy: even if it was with Shane. Daryl stewed in his bed, hating the guilty feeling in his stomach. So far tonight, this was causing him more pain than his physical injuries ever could. He wondered what you were doing right now: if you had eaten, if you were chatting with the others, if you had yourself wrapped into Shane's arms.
       Fuck. What had he done?
       Daryl hoped the feeling would fade: he needed it to. He couldn't sleep like this. All his thoughts were consumed by you, and how his heart broke when you left that room. Daryl sighed: he was right. He did push you away, and it hurt. He was just angry at not savouring the feeling of having you around for longer.
       "You're real mean, you know that?"
       His eyes snap up to you: you have burst in his door, not even bothering to knock. Daryl's heart is beating so fast he feel like he might die.
        "I know what you're doing. You're pushing me away because you're scared: scared of getting attached, scared of caring, scared of letting some care about you. Well, I'm sorry, Daryl: that's life. You have to care- at least a little bit. And, it's bull shit that you pushed me away. Bull shit."
        You're slurring your words slight: the Greene's must have some alcohol left.
        "I know what you're doing because- because I use to do it too," you sigh, "It's easier to have no one close that risk getting hurt, right? Wrong. Because then you just end up alone. Lonely. I was lonely, until I met you. I thought... I thought we had something, Dixon. And, as much as I am pissed at you for saying what you said, I'm more sad. After this, I'll leave you alone if that's what you want, but just know I see through your bull shit."
      "Y/N..." Daryl murmurs, taken aback at what you just said. All of it.
      You shake your head, swaying slightly because of the drink.
      "And, another thing: I don't have a boyfriend so I have no idea where that bull shit came from."
      "Shane, he... I saw you-" Daryl stutters out, embarrassed.
     "You saw me what? Talk to him?" you question, "He's not my boyfriend. I'm a bit insulted you don't think I have higher standards than Shane."
       "I know you have high standards," Daryl says under his breath.
       Luckily, you didn't hear it.
       "And, if I did have a boyfriend I wouldn't want it to be Shane... I would- I would want it to be you," you confess, your heart now pounding as the effects of the alcohol fade.
       "Me?" Daryl asks shocked, "You're just drunk."
      "I'm not," you promise, "I... I thought we had something, Dixon."
        "We... We did," Daryl admits, his cheeks burning.
        "What went wrong?" you plead, approaching him.
         "Me," he lowers his head, "I... You're right. About everything. I... I'm scared. Scared about feeling like this. Mostly I'm just... Scared of not being good 'nough for y'. I'm nothing special."
          You look at him sadly, now understanding where this was all coming from. Daryl didn't think he deserved you. It was almost ridiculous because in your eyes Daryl was perfect. He was kind, he listened, he was protective, he made you feel special... He was everything to you. And, it broke your heart that he couldn't see that.
           "Daryl..."
            Gently, you sit on the bed beside him, and lower your head on his shoulder. Daryl still isn't looking at you. You reach for his hand, and he surprisingly lets you take it.
           "You are everything to me."
          Daryl looks to you, trying to see if you're lying.
          "Everything."
          "How? I-"
          You interrupt him, "Daryl, stop getting in the way of your own happiness."
          He stays quiet.
          "Can I kiss you?"
          He nods, and you gently kiss him. You keep your hands woven tightly together. After a moment, you pull back and smile at him. You squeeze his hand. He can't quite believe it. This couldn't be happening: you wanted him?
          "So you're not into Shane?" Daryl asks.
          "Really?" you ask with a laugh, "That still a question? Do I need to kiss you again?"
          "Not gonna say no," Daryl smiles at you.
          You peck him on the lips. You go to kiss him again, but pause.
          "Wait, you were jealous, weren't you?" you ask tilting your head to the side, "Jealous of Shane?"
          Daryl doesn't know what to say: he just feels ashamed.
           "You have no reason to be jealous, Dixon, I promise. You're twice the man Shane is," you smile, snuggling beside him, "He didn't even cross my mind. It's always been you."
          Daryl kisses the top of your head.
          "Good," Daryl replies gruffly, "Because otherwise I would kick his ass."
          "I mean, you can still do that anyway," you laugh, "He deserves it."
          "You're right: you're always right."
