One of my favorite fanfic authors just posted a completely self-indulgent work with minimal adjustments to avoid cliches, and I'm really considering doing that, too. Just to help get rid of my writer's block (and the silly little plot bunnies I caught that refuse to stand nicely in a row).

Hey guys,

I'm really sorry to anyone who was looking forward to more of Café, but in light of recent events I will be postponing posting that chapter update as I feel I need to overhaul a few character roles.

Yes, I know I was writing about the characters and not the CCs, but I feel uncomfortable continuing with my original plan as is, right now. I will not be abandoning the fic, just... changing some things.

As for the next update, I will probably just resume with some of my other wips, and possibly get the next PN chapter up and running.

Actually managed to get some more work done on my bleach fic, hopefully I'll be able to finish that one sometime this year?

For the Cafe chapter, about... half of it is done, though it may end up much longer than I'm currently expecting.

Hey guys, I know this may be a massive pain for some of you, but I have decided to lock my works (so only registered users can see them) for the near future. Admittedly this isn’t because I’m afraid that they’ll steal my words or anything, it’s just out of spite. I don’t like that they think it’s okay to rip other people’s art or fics and use them (word-for-word in some cases) without asking, so I will keep all of my old and any new works locked until some real restrictions are put in place in my country on the use of AI (which is, so far, pretty much completely unrestricted). 

I know this will not block all data scraping, but it will make it harder for some of them, and that’s enough for me. I will still post fic update links (and artwork) to this blog as normal.

ICYMI, there was fear that companies were scraping public AO3 fics to train their AI without the consent of AO3 or its users. That fear has been confirmed.

AO3 has written about what they’re doing (and what they’re not able to do), and they recommend restricting your work to AO3 registered users only. [Instructions here]

This gross misuse of the archive by techbros is why I’ve locked down my fics for the foreseeable future. I recommend the rest of you do the same.

Confession time, I got side-tracked into writing three new fanfics for three different fandoms, so that chapter won’t be coming out this month (my bad guys).

Ayo, my bad guys, completely forgot I wrote a fic for this secret santa thing and did not link anyone. (This was... sometime last week? I think?) It’s a completed fanfic for an original webcomic called Villain to Kill (which is near and dear to my heart simply because I am a big fan of the designs and quite a few of the jokes sprinkled here and there liberally). Official English translation can be found on Webtoons. (No knowledge of the source material to read, though it might clear up a lot of things I left out because of time constraints). :) Prompt theme was eldritch, adoption/child-rearing, and fluff! Not quite sure how I did on the last two, but I think I almost got the eldritch part (even if I left a lot out for the possible sequel later on). Anyway, here’s the link, in case anyone’s interested!

Been working on the next chapter for Preconceived Notions, so that’ll probably be the next release. :) Unfortunately I am not sure when I’ll finish that, but I am expecting (at my current rate of progress) either sometime in March or (if I’m lucky) sometime end of February. After that, maybe a new fic release? Or maybe I’ll finally get out that last chapter for that bleach fic, not sure....

I’ve noticed I have a tendency to go very very dark when I write fics.... Idk, maybe I’m just not hardwired for writing light fluffy whipped cream, everything ends up needing to have that hidden layer of dark chocolate.
