what i do know is that since the day we met, i’ve been happy with you. it’s been fun.

i get reminded often that everything is always worth it, even when i run out of stamina and i hear your voice a couple paces in front of me cheering me on to run one more lap around the track—

it might be a bit strange that the first thought that comes to mind is that i don’t ever want to drink lemon tea without coffee milk again.

you parked your bike on the corner, leaning it against that same lamppost, and sometimes i get a little worried it might disappear when we get back to it one day, but you told me once that you’d just buy another if that happens.

to be honest, i’ve grown quite attached to it, maybe more than you because i’ve gotten so used to hearing you ring the bell and stand up on the pedals when you’re excited.

your hair whips all around as you pick up the speed, i only get to see your expression from behind when you throw a glance over your shoulder to make sure i’m not drooling on your jacket half-asleep.

but that’s okay, because the you in my mind’s eye when we’re like this makes me want to hold you tighter.

even though i’m thoroughly worn out after our practices, i wonder where you get that extra energy from.

especially on nights where it starts to get colder, when all i hear is the crickets outside but i know that’s not what keeps me up, but rather the sound of your laughter— your soft chuckles, the ones that you reserve only for me.

the thought of your presence covers me like a blanket. like freshly fallen snow that starts to settle upon trees and grass; it lulls me into closing my eyes and before i know it, it’s too late.

i’ve fallen in love with reo again.
